Guest Reviews
- Maria Lorena (8/5): - The property itself was great! Loved the spacious room, cleanliness, friendly staff and pools. It's just an inconvenience that it's not beach front and the road heading to the main street is so rocky, rough and full of puddles. It's easy to trip and sprain your ankle while walking.
The resort itself is lovely though!
- Michael (10/5): - Clean, comfortable room. Nice amenities and breakfast on site.
Centrally located and a quick walk to everything on Alona Beach, but on a back road, so it was quiet.
- Donald (10/5): quite peaceful stay - We enjoyed the pool right outside of are room place was quiet clean and nice we found out we can cut through BW to get to the beach that was helpful
- Mary Jane (10/5): - The Golden Palm was a quiet oasis in the middle of the hustle and bustle around Alona Beach. It’s too bad there is no direct access to the beach and we have to walk around for about 10-15 minutes in the heat, but otherwise the pools were great and the garden is well maintained.
- Patrick James (8/5): - Our stay in Golden Palm Resort was excellent. Easy to find, clean and near everything we could ask for. The staff were friendly and courteous. I highly recommend this place
- Tracy (10/5): An oasis - Wonderful place to stay. An oasis away from the main road, but only a 3 minute walk. Lovely staff (they even jeated up my leftovers for me)
Highly recommended
- William (10/5): - Property was lovely, the staff was great and we had a wonderful time there!
It is tucked away from the main road so it is very peaceful! Your deluxe room was just outside the smaller pool. Just like 3 steps and you are in the water. Very kid friendly!
Met the owners very nice and welcoming.
Highly appreciated and recommend this resort for your stay in Panglao!!!!
- Mila (8/5): - Good service, approachable and helpful staff.
- Christine (10/5): Very nice. Will return - Nice gardens and pools. Good service. They also have a great breakfast buffet. Staff are also very friendly and helpful
- Eric (10/5): - Golden Palm was a nice, well kept resort. Nice gardens and the pools were wonderful. The rooms are standard but the air conditioning works well and we had a nice balcony. The breakfast was just ok, but the staff of the hotel were very nice and helpful. The resort is on a quiet street around the corner from several restaurants, cafes, bars and Alona Beach. Great location to have a quiet sleep, but nearby the action. Would recommend staying here.
- Xavier (8/5): Beautiful grounds but be prepared to walk a bunch - Just got back from Bohol and stayed at the Golden Palm.
First off the good:
-The place is beautiful.
-Rooms are nice and the bed is better than expected.
-AC works fine so the room is cool.
-Pools are nice but the main pool is where you will go since the small one in front of the rooms is more for looks.
-The staff is friendly and the owner lives onsite and you see him eating dinner with the family every night.
- We didn't eat there for dinner after the terrible breakfast experience so I can't speak to the food.
Now for the Needs Improvement stuff:
-Breakfast is included but not worth the time. Food is cold and limited - nothing like cold eggs and pancakes. They have heated pans but dont put flame pots under them so nothing stays warm. Ended up going offsite for food after the first day.
-The road to get to the hotel is not near to town and is a rocky road and to get to the beach its a trek or you have to go through the Best Western where they may or may not let you do.
-When checking in after travel they make you stand there and get lectured on the rules of the place (don't waste my time and treat me like an adult!) I had to pee! Pissed me off honestly
-They don't have water bottles in the room and instead have a pitcher. Which would be fine if they refilled it, they don't. You have to do it yourself? Isn't housekeeping already in your room?
- Seth (10/5): - A beautiful smaller resort with nice rooms that have great Air conditioning. Two pools and a bar/restaurant. Very short walk to the beach. Great Staff and helpful security. Safe and Clean. Great location
- Jade TL (10/5): - Amazing time at this resort.
Close to everything. Very quiet at night. The pool is amazing. The staff are friendly and helpful
- maria c (10/5): - The outside is well maintained. Their garden is so beautiful. The staff are very nice. We got the superior room which is very nice and clean. They clean the room everyday. Location is near Alona beach and plenty of restaurants.
- Mariphe (10/5): - We like the service and the landscape. All staffs are very accomodating.
- Fernando (8/5): - My concern is the lack of handrail in the stairs leading to the upper floors, very difficult to go up & down for PWD/seniors. What i like is it feels like one is in a resort away from city life. Staff is very friendly and welcoming.
Thank you very much!
- Joo Tim (8/5): - The gardens and pool area of the property is really nice. The staff are really friendly.
The room is okay but the bathroom could do with an upgrade
- Kevin (10/5): - This hotel is a beautiful oasis of tranquility in an otherwise rather messy little resort town. The beach is great, there are great places to eat and drink but I love getting away from people and noise when I think of island life. The accommodation was utterly beautiful with delightful gardens, a lovely bar and loads of clean, beautiful, space to relax. Highly recommend this as a place to stay. Breakfast is pretty limited, would have liked some cheese, fresh bread and more fruit, but it was perfectly adequate.
- Benjamin T. (10/5): - Very ethical staff, service is excellent
- Donald A (10/5): - The are extremely well maintained along with the koi pond. There was quite of beautiful bonsai present along with many native plants. All in all my stay at resort was excellent!
- kevin (10/5): - Very helpful staff, nothing was to much trouble for them. The owner of the property was there almost ever day and was very helpful with information on where to find all the right places for trips and Restaurants etc.
- Carmen (6/5): - Quiet, walkable to the beach. However, breakfast buffet had barely food left when we went to eat. They had to cook and we had to wait. The steamed rice came out not fully cooked as they rushed to cook.
- Jerrymias (10/5): - rented 2 rooms good for 4 to stay for just 1 night. overall the place was excellent, safe, quite and well maintained. room was large, ac was cold and water pressure was good. the place has 2 excellent pools with the big 1 having 10 feet deep which is usually rare. staff was honest enough to hold on my son’s ipad which was left behind upon checkout and had to come back few minutes to retrieve it. despite all the good, i do have a complain about how to go the beach area. i do usually research places were i go in which i read and was advertised as only 3 mins walk to the beach using the access from the hotel. unfortunately when we were there, the said access was been closed for a time due to construction done by the adjacent property. the only way to go to the beach would be a long walk like 10-15 minutes which u will go back to the main road or drive ur car, park for 50php all day parking.
- Nathaniel Barry (10/5): - Wonderful resort. Very clean rooms and beautiful grounds. Super friendly staff. We would definitely stay here again.
- James (10/5): - Good location down a short road off the major areas.
An ‘oasis of calm ‘ away from the normal livelinesses of a resort.
A big shout out to Barry ‘the gardener’ for his vision in providing a great place to stay.
A comment to be made, a brighter light in the shower/ wc area would be appreciated.
Yes I would recommend this hotel.
- Reynaldo (10/5): - The place are clean and quiet. Walking distance to the beach and restaurant.
- Timothy (10/5): - The grounds and garden where the nicest we have seen in the Philippines. Pools and facilities are excellent and staff wonderful. You are not right on the beach but it is worth it for the peaceful gardens and pool areas; and only a 5-10 minute walk to Alona Beach. This is a good spot to be close to restaurants and to explore some tours from (the staff helped arrange an excellent guide and van for us). I would highly recommend this spot, great value for money.
- Emma (10/5): - We loved our stay at Golden Palm. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and kind. The garden was full of beautiful trees and plants and we enjoying spending time there and around the pool. The room had everything we needed and comfortable. It was a quiet place and an easy walk to the beach within 5 mins. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to return one day.
- José (10/5): Best hotel in Alona Beach - Had a lovely 7 night stay at the Golden Palm Resort with my wife and 1 year old daughter, and couldn't have been happier with our hotel choice. The location is quite pleasant, very close to Alona beach and yet quiet and private The hotel outdoors spaces are very well taken care of, with lovely gardens and natural grass everywhere, 2 very pleasant swimming pools, a bar with a very nice ambience and awesome playlists, several relaxing areas including a gazebo with comfortable loungers, and even play areas for kids with a swing and a playhouse with toys. The room was spacious and comfortable, very clean with a large and clean toilet, the beds and linen were perfect. The best part was the staff, the owner is an extraordinary person, very welcoming and really makes you feel at home, and everyone at the resort strives to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We'll definitely come back if the opportunity comes!
- Dave (10/5): - This property is a wonderful oasis in the chaos that is Panglao. If I ever come back, this is where I will stay. Facilities are top notch, gardens are impeccable, room was beautiful. The service was outstanding from the moment I arrived until the moment I left. Very welcoming, accommodating, and professional. Loved it!
- Maryanne (10/5): - The owner of this property is amazing.
- Timothy (10/5): - Staff was amazing! Rooms are nice but bathroom needs more light for wife to do makeup. Extremely comfortable and relaxing. Breakfast is good, 3 out of 4 dinners were good, the ribs were overcooked. I would recommend this over and over again. Really can’t say enough about how attentive the staff is.
- Rajani (8/5): - Really enjoyed our stay here, everyone is super lovely and it’s in a really nice private setting. They take care of the property and surroundings, the pool area is nice too.
Only areas for improvement would be the cleanliness of the shower, our shower had bits on the floor and also the grout around the tiles needs redoing as looks very dirty / mouldy.
Breakfast was okay, not too much choice though. Eggs sat around for a while, would be better if they cooked to order rather than set them out! It would also be nice if they offered an alternative milk such as oat milk, but that one is very specific to me!
- Christian Chukwudi (10/5): Comfortable and convenient - It’s close to alona beach where there are many restaurants and tourists !!!! I love it.
- GYPSY (10/5): - Great stay, great staff!!!
- Nicolas (10/5): - The place is amazing. A perfect location as well without the noise of the parties near the beach.
- Steven (10/5): Great place to stay - Very nice property
- Gary (10/5): - It was a beautiful oasis in Panglao. Incredible landscaping nice pools and great food.
- Keren (10/5): - It was our first time booking on this hotel and I can say that it's all worth it and will be coming back in the future , the hotel, the area is tranquil and very relaxing, the staff are very nice and accomodating, it's very serene and the landscaping is remarkable. Even though the area outside is busy and citylike, the hotel is very quiet and safe. Walking distance also to the beach, the restaurants and the market, everything is in one place. I would recommend this place if ever you are in panglao.
- David (10/5): - We had a fantastic time at this resort! The grounds are immaculate and very well kept. It's set away from the action. More quiet and tranquil. The staff is super nice and kind and helpful. We booked several adventures through them. We loved hanging out at the pool on quiet days. Plenty of space and overall really great value!
Only thing I didn't like was that there weren't filtered water dispensers in the room (or a common area where you could get filtered water for free). Although, they do fill a small bottle daily and offer water bottles conveniently for sale
- Priscilla (10/5): - Staff are friendly and approachable
- Keith (8/5): - The path leading to the property must be paved and widened
- Andrew (10/5): Hidden Gem near Alona Beach! - This hidden gem of a hotel is the perfect stay off the noisy beach, but on the water side, so just a 2 min walk to the beach. Beautiful, manicured grounds! And fabulous staff and owners! I will always return here!
- Shiarah Mae (8/5): - The landscaping is very beautiful. The rooms are nice and the bed is comfortable. It is quite and very relaxing. However, breakfast was not good because the food was cold. It is buffet but it was cold.
- Steven (10/5): Beautiful clean quiet resort with two pools. - Golden palm is a very nice clean comfortable resort. It was very quiet and the grounds were beautiful. I had two pools to myself most the time. The staff is wonderful and helpful. It’s a 10 minute walk to alona beach but there’s always an inexpensive trike ride available at end of the driveway. The resort is gated and has a guard there also. Value at the price and for the amenities is fantastic. I’d prefer to be on beach but I would stay here again if I have a chance.
- Cecilia (6/5): - THe property is 10 minutes walk to the beach, contrary to what is posted. There are many dogs walking around, make sure you don't leave food on the table outside your room overnight. For 7 years old, they charge for 1,500 extra give us extra bed which we don't need as it doesn't give us space to walk around. I booked for 4 adults, only 3 have free breakfast.
The place is quiet. If you are eco friendly person you would appreciate the area. I came for the beach. One advantage is when your room is located right by the swimming pool, it feels like you are having a private pool.
- James (8/5): - Nice place. The price is right. The room is clean. The pool was nice but someone needs to skim the leaves off the top. A little strange to have dogs roaming around and
- Ricky (8/5): - Landscaping and the grounds are kept up nicely. 2 very nice pools.
Walking distance to the beach and many restaurants. Reception/dinning area very nice
Staff was amazing and very helpful.
- Leonard (10/5): - The property is beautiful, and well maintained. Two swimming pools, and plenty of lounge chairs. The breakfast was fantastic, the best I've had while in the Philippines.
- Robert (10/5): - Great location, walk to the beach in under 10 minutes, and to many restaurants. Everyone there was helpful and friendly, just takes a while to get your room cleaned.
- robert (10/5): Great find thumbs up. - This was a great find and pleasant surprise. Lovely gardens. Friendly staff. Nice new rooms. Good location from airport. Great value.
- Verified traveler (10/5): satisfied guest.. - nice high end resort to unwind if your on a budget. Highly recommend to all. a few minutes to the ocean .
- Joseph L (10/5): Great experience. - We had a wonderful stay. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The place was very clean. Kids had a great time at the pool and food is excellent and affordable. Property is close to the beach and shopping. I would highly recommend this Resort, excellent value.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff are accommodating. Breakfast and dinner is excellent. They even packed our breakfast when we have to leave early for our island tour and also serve our breakfast earlier than usual due to our flight back to Manila the next day. Place is quite and relaxing. Would highly recommend it to friends traveling to Bohol!
- Repelita (10/5): Great vacay - Property was clean and very accommodating staff. Breakfast was great too! The contracted driver (Bebot) who drove us everywhere was very professional and good mannered.
- David (10/5): - Great value, beautiful surroundings and excellent location. When checking in, I found it odd to be asked to read a statement about not smoking or eating durian in the room - we also found service at breakfast to be quite slow. Besides that, the staff were great.
- Patrick (10/5): Excellent hotel! - The room was super clean. The staff was very nice and professional. The location was within walking distance of the main food locations and Alona beach. It’s not necessary at all to stay at another hotel on the beach because it’s too noisy. I prepaid the hotel. I appreciate that the hotel did not even ask for a damage deposit. When I checked out I asked them to check the room to make sure I didn’t cause any damage and they did it right away. I had a great and restfull stay.
- Hao Selina (8/5): Great hotel close to beach - Great little resort hotel closeby to Alona Beach. There is plenty of shops and restaurants closeby, and about 10 mins walk to the beach and 15 min car ride from Tagbilaran airport.
The hotel has beautiful gardens that are well maintained. The pools a nice and often had them to ourselves which was a bonus.
Staff are all welcoming and helpful.
The room itself was good size with big comfortable bed, overlooking the gardens and both pools. Cleaned to a good standard.
We did have an issue with noise, the rooms are not very soundproof at all, so can hear all sorts from outside. We had a big group stay in the same block as us and would shout at each other from their balconies late at night and early in the morning and could hear it all from our room. I was woken up at 5 am where the other guests were leaving for an early excursion. Earplugs are a must for good nights sleep if you are a light sleeper.
There was also construction going on right next door which added to the noise (only during the day though luckily)
Otherwise decent comfortable hotel in good location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff exceptionally helpful amazing gardens great value
- Arno (4/5): - Swimming Pool was out of order
- Carol (6/5): - They should at least update the picture online because we’re expecting different type of room when we get there.
The breakfast that included is not what we expected, it wasn’t much, but it was good, we did enjoy our stay, would come back.
- RINTARO (6/5): - It takes more than 10 minutes to the beach. The road to seaside is blocked by construction of a new hotel, and you should go long way around
- gareth (6/5): - Stayed at this hotel two years ago and was very pleased with it so we returned. The location is ok, about a ten min walk to the beach and all the restraints and dive shops along it. The rooms are nice and are set in nice gardens with two pools. However, since our last visit the service has gone down hill considerably, frequently had to ask two or three times for milk for our tea/coffee, on several occasions we arrived back from an early dinner on the beach to find the bar deserted and had to go in search of the barman, when he was there he was often watching the tv wearing ear buds and it took considerable effort to attract his attention. On top of this one of the neighbouring hotels had installed a karaoke machine and we were ‘treated’ to several all afternoon/evening sessions, not very restful. We will not be teturning
- Dick (8/5): - Property was hard to get to, having to walk a distance on a narrow dirt road.
- Catherine (10/5): Great little oasis - We had a very relaxing time staying here. The pool areas are really lovely and the staff are really kind and friendly. It's located only a short walk from the beach and all the bars and restaurants.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A solid choice for any traveler. - Walking distance to the beach, food and night life. Free breakfast with a lot of variety of choices. Rooms close to the pool (might not be good for those with little kids. Pool is not gated). Very helpful staff.
Con: when we were there, unpaved road and Construction noise nearby.
- JOEL TANIAJURA (10/5): - Place is relaxing. Family had a wonderful time.
- David (10/5): Best of the bunch in that area - I stayed at 3 hotels in the area this trip and GPR was the best of them. They have the original wing and a newer wing and i stayed in the newer wing. Nice room with a balcony, semi modern with a great bed, good sized bathroom and good shower...all hard to get in their price range that close to the beach. And the WiFi worked really well so I could also get my work done.
Staff were fun, pleasant and very accommodating. When I go back to Alona Beach, this is my go to place for sure.
- Dwayne (10/5): Golden Palm Resort 2019 - The Golden Palm Resort is very clean with large rooms and excellent wifi. Pay the additional to include breakfast, the food is the better then the high cost restaurants in the area.
I will definitely book again!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - very nice hotel lovely gardens conveniently located helpful staff
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great value compared to other hotels in the area. Lots of construction going on right next door so no quick acess to beach. Had to walk out to main road and back down a side road to beach wich was very dirty, congested, and kept getting approached by people trying to sell me things very anoying,
- Carmina (10/5): Great place. Good people - I've had a great stay. It's so peaceful at night, though there's a construction going nearby. Staffs are approachable, accommodating and very helpful. Though it's a few blocks from alona beach, over-all, my stay there is great.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Bohol 2019 - We had our dinner during our last night at Golden Palm and the food we ordered were yummy.. We had fun at the resort...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Property was cllse to main beach complete with bars and restaurantes.
- Carlos (10/5): - Staff was friendly and polite. Location was great. Wifi was good in the pool area only.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great find! Fantastic hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pool is ok, staff are friendly but wifi is very slow and some period is disconnected but near at alona beach
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The Gardens are beautiful little oasis lovely bar & the staff helpful
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice property and extremely helpful staff , reasonable price for the accommodation
More lightning needed on road for walk to other area/beach
WiFi connection not so reliable at times
- Margaret (8/5): - Lovely little hotel with friendly staff. Nice pool and decent breakfast. Our only concerns were that there was a lot of construction work going on all around so relaxing by the pool wasn't so relaxing. It was also a fair walk around to the beach (around 10 minutes) because the path was blocked by construction sites so we had to walk up onto theain road then down another route. But overall we had a great time and in another 6 months I'm sure this place will be excellent!
- Craig (10/5): - The room and the rest of the resort was excellent. very comfortable staying there
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We really enjoyed the facilities at the Golden Palm resort. The only downside was the nearby construction works.
- Theodore (10/5): Great accommodation and affordable prices!!! - Golden Palm offers great accommodation with excellent friendly service at a very affordable price!!! Comfortable beds, clean rooms, great WiFi connection and satellite channel selection.
The only issue that I had with Golden Palm, is the location.
You are required to walk/drive down a dark muddy road off the beaten track, which can make you feel unsafe when coming back from Alona beach in the late hours of the night. Also there is no short cut to Alona beach, which results in a 5 to 10min walk up the muddy road, along the main road and then down to Alona.
I didn't have any issues with noise at night despite the construction of the best western located next door.
Overall great experience at Golden Palm
- Verified traveler (8/5): good hotel to stay near Alona beach - good hotel near Alona Beach. we stayed two nights with friend on our business trip to Bohol. room is fine for just 2 nights. we are expect high level of service. staff is helpful to arrange motobike for rental and massage for us. overal is good to stay there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a beautiful resort. Facilities were great, seaside is walking distance, garden was stunning and staff are friendly. We want to go back in Bohol and stay at Golden Palm resort again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The grounds of this property were beautiful. Staff were lovely. Cleanliness could have been better. We had mould in our bathroom and weird stains on our towels. Also had rips on the bed sheets. First night we were put in a room with two single beds which we weren’t happy about. Weren’t given an explanation for this other than they would move us on the second night. Other than that this is a nice little hotel. Path to beach was closed for construction but this wasn’t a problem at all as it only takes a few more minutes to walk to other way. Would stay again but would hope they had improved a bit on the room cleanliness
- Mike (10/5): - When we got to the property we were greeted by staff and helped us by carrying our luggage to the room. Upon entering the room they had setup a nice display on the bed of the towel swans with rose petals on the bed. It was really special especially since it was our first vacation together as husband and wife.
The property is decently far away from all the noise of the main road and not too far from access to the beach. I'd say about a 10 min walk to the beach and had good access to the main road for restaurants, stores, shops, banks, ect.
Overall it was a great place to stay at while we enjoyed Panglao!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - First of all, this property needs to redo all the photos on Expedia. My expectations were low with not so impressive photos on Expedia, but I was pleasantly surprised once I arrived. A nice garden with two outdoor swimming pools. There are two dogs greeting guests, too. Location is okay, it’s about 5-10 minute walk to Alona Beach. The staff are nice and kind. There is major construction going on around the resort and it is noisy. The water pressure in the shower could be better.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - There is building construction next to this resort and noise lasted from 8am - 6pm Monday-Saturday. There was a large area of black mold on the sink grout and some mold in the shower area; needs chlorine bleach to kill mold. Only one hand towel allowed per room per day even though there were 4 registered guests.
The resort has no tour services and transport of its own. Guests must pay hired driver and entrance fees directly with cash. Resort does not handle tour payments. They only make the arrangements. This requires having cash available instead of using credit card.
On a positive note, thé staff was very accommodating and tried to meet our needs promptly. Also, the gardens were well maintained and groomed. There are also friendly dogs on the property. Hope you like dogs.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful garden. And attentive staff. Will use this hotel again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Property is nice and clean, staffs are friendly, The property is conveniently located around everything. I’m sure to stay in this place next I come here in Bohol.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The rooms and the Resort are excellent. I would recommend this resort to friends and family
- Rommel (10/5): Good service - Staff srvice and place is very good...
- Leslie (10/5): Alona beach - Nice hotel with good grounds and swimming pool with pool bar - close to beach and restaurants etc - nice staff and would recommend
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely gardens and pool, very clean, well situated and friendly staff
- Zach (6/5): - Affordable, spacious rooms, and friendly staff. The bed was on the hard side. Nice pool area but construction next to the pool of a new high rise is noisy, smells of diesel fumes and starts early in the morning. There is NO direct beach access as eluded to in the description on Expedia. The 10-15min walk however isn’t too bad. Nice little town.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - spacious bathrooms, new rooms, but direct access to the beach has been blocked by an ongoing construction. so one has to go out to the main road and walk back down via the public access alley.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good hotel and friendly people - the room was big and my family love it. The crew on the hotel was friendly and nice. They always give our request. They also assisted us on all our tour. But one thing is the food.the breakfast is good but the lunch the serving is little. But overall stay we enjoy.
- Dinu (10/5): - We stayed for 7 days and it was very nice. The place is very beautiful, private and clean. I totally recommend! And also 10 min walk to Alona beach.
- Jose (10/5): - A very clean and comfortable place to stay for vacation.
