Guest Reviews
- 945traceyp (10/5): Relaxing at the Refuge Inn - My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Refuge Inn. Our King room was spotless, spacious, and quite comfortable. The balcony had 2 Adirondack chairs and a small table, making it easy to enjoy the free breakfast and coffee outside. The lobby has free coffee and baked goods available all day, as well as a lending library of books and puzzles. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge is within walking distance. perfect for getting in plenty of steps! We highly recommend the Refuge Inn.
- 846bettyannm (10/5): Wonderful stay - The staff is fantastic, they make you feel at home. The Inn is spotless, pool and hot tube beautiful, bed comfortable, and the breakfast brought to your room is a nice added touch. Would definitely recommend The Refuge Inn.
- M9668VOrobl (10/5): Family owned and one of the best places on chincoteague island - Extremely close to the beach, all staff are always friendly and helpful, the lush wooded area around the Refuge Inn are amazing. Indoor pool and hot tub are always clean and well maintained. I would recommend this location to anyone who want not just a vacation but an experience.
- 372marggis (10/5): Yes, you'll be glad you stayed here - Our room was in perfect condition! Maybe it had been recently refurbished, but it was clean, well-decorated, had everything a guest could use. Not a stain or scratch. The bed and pillows were comfortable. They provided a small bar of Bayberry soap, which we brought home. The other toiletries were in eco-friendly containers, which we appreciated. The curtains were fresh -- a room darkening curtain and a lighter curtain. They provide breakfast in your room, it was everything we could want. The Inn is family run and the staff was very warm and friendly. They have formerly wild horses on the grounds. It is in the form/shape of a motel. It is very easy access to the National Wildlife Refuge and Lighthouse. Easy to get to restaurants. Great place, highly recommend.
- R2790TQdianep (10/5): Stay at the Refuge Inn! - We just returned from a two night get away down to Chincoteague, VA. If you go, you ought to try staying at the Refuge Inn. It’s a great, friendly place to stay. Coffee in the lobby and complimentary breakfast included! It’s very close to the entrance to Assateague Island, walk or bike if you like. All the rooms are clean, speaking for the three times I’ve been there, and quaint and homey. Stay on the “pony side” and watch the lighthouse at night: )
- M6948MJpennyw (10/5): Always a wonderful stay. - I love visiting Chincoteague and always stay at the Refuge Inn. It is an older, family run hotel that the keep in wonderful condition. It is always clean and well maintained and the staff, from the front desk, to the cleaning staff, to the grounds keepers are wonderful. I cannot recommend the place enough.
- DayTrip55234235614 (10/5): Perfect: Feels like what vacation ought to be - The Refuge Inn was a perfect, well, refuge for our stay on Chincoteague. It couldn’t be closer to the island refuge, and onsite ponies were an added, unexpected treat. The whole team was warm and welcoming, from the woman at the front desk who honored a price I’d found online and confided that our ground floor room, close to the front desk and coffee station was one of the owner’s favorites, to the guy emptying the trash, who walked me down the hall to show me the fitness room and bathroom. The room was comfortable and well-appointed. Breakfast was easy and delicious. And everything felt like vacation ought to be, not like we were widgets in a generic motel chain machine. There may be benefits to staying right on the water in town, but if you’re in Chincoteague for what makes it unique, this is where you want to be.
- waltero162 (10/5): Great Hotel & Staff - Awesome place to stay. Right outside of the wildlife refuge. Hot tub, sauna and indoor pool. Breakfast delivered to your room every morning. Staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are super clean. Best place to stay on the island.
- Sightsee557369 (10/5): The perfect stay - The Refuge Inn is my favorite inn not only in Chincoteague but anywhere in the world. Nature is at your doorstep. The rooms are extremely clean. The staff is friendly and personable. Free baked goods in the lobby, coffee 24-7, breakfast delivered at your door when you want it.
- Netgain2 (10/5): Great Place to Stay! - First time staying here and I loved it! The room was very clean and I liked the outside area. The pool room was pretty with all of the plants around. Breakfast was good and I liked how it was delivered to the room. There was also an observation deck where you can see the water. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back again.
- Catluvr1015 (10/5): Lovely Inn - Quiet, comfortable and affordable accommodations. The staff is very friendly and helpful. This was our second stay and we loved it.
- Flyer35253704354 (10/5): Excellent all around! - Excellent all around! We'll be back!
- Q7042EEmelissar (10/5): The most wonderful experience ever- The Refuge Inn is Awesome! - Absolutely the BEST experienced ever! The staff is friendly and kind and helpful. The rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated, and the free breakfast delivery was an unexpected delight, along with the ponies right there on the property! We did not have a chance to experience the beautiful pool or exercise room or sauna, but hope to next time. It is in a perfect location in the darling town of Chincoteague. The Refuge is Truly that- a Refuge from the craziness of everyday life! We will be returning in 2 months with our children and grandchildren. Can hardly wait! Thank you for the most wonderful "get away weekend"!
- T3293UGmb (10/5): Peace and natural beauty - Fantastic and affordable off-season retreat for our visit in early March. Excellent base for biking over to Assateague's trails - we didn't drive once during our stay. Between the wild beauty of Assateague just across the bridge to the east, and the peaceful low-key comfort of the Inn, we had everything we wanted. The pool is essentially in a greenhouse enclosure in the winter - being in warm water surrounded by lush plants is a real treat this time of year. The Refuge Inn is really a special place - grateful to have found it.
- amandadE2947LK (10/5): A+ hotel and staff - Great location! Walk across street to museum and a few shops. Bike over to refuge or into town.
Quiet and peaceful section of the island.
We were in the king room - VERY clean and comfortable. Nice desk, chair, small table with 2 chairs. There is a small balcony with 2 chairs and a table - PERFECT for sitting out and relaxing - We overlooked the ponies so spent some quiet time just enjoying them.
Bathroom is spacious, clean, had a really deep tub if you wanted to take a bath.
Room had a small refrigerator, coffee pot (tea/coffee supplies included)
We were on the second floor - steps were easy to navigate and nice handrail
The delivery to your door breakfast was perfect - great touch.
Coffee/Hot tea bar outside lobby with ice machine. Ice machine also on 2nd floor
Out behind pasture is a nice deck area that overlooks refuge and horses. Very peaceful area to sit/enjoy/relax.
All staff was extremely friendly
Nice gift shop attached to lobby
Very nice WARM indoor pool with beautiful plants, hot tub was nice and love the privacy fence to separate from pool. Sauna available.
Bike Depot for bike rentals adjoining parking lot
Ponies adjoining the parking lot!
All in all - you cannot go wrong with this Inn -- will definitely return and recommend.
- 169waltero (10/5): Excellent Hotel and Staff - We had the pleasure of staying four nights at the Refuge Inn in February. The rooms (We stayed two separate times) were immaculate and very comfortable. The staff is amazing and so friendly. This is a family-owned establishment that takes pride in all that they do. Indoor pool, hot tub and sauna are all very clean. Sits within a mile of the Assateague Island National Seashore / Chincoteague Island Wildlife Refuge. Highly recommend!!!
- Q3871TCjustinep (10/5): Wonderful stay at the Refuge Inn - Absolutely lovely. Rooms are beautiful, everything is well kept, and the pool and hot tub are the best. They also have a sauna and workout room. The location, directly across the bridge from the wildlife refuge, is wonderful. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It’s our favorite place to stay!
- T2997LCleor (10/5): One of our all time favorites - We stay at the Refuge Inn every chance we get. The name says it all!
- francesbT6344QG (10/5): Relaxing escape from February Blues! - We love the homey atmosphere, friendly staff, location, AND a heated pool & hot tub to escape the February cold!
Perfect home base to participate in Chincoteague Merchant's Annual Death by Chocolate scavenger hunt!
- 639thomasu (10/5): The Refuge Inn is a favorite of ours, always clean, comfortable and peaceful - Overnight stay while traveling south. We’ve stayed at the Refuge Inn many times. We love it there. Quiet location right near the causeway to the Assateague refuge, but still near other attractions and restaurants. The rooms are beautiful, always very clean and comfortable. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Coffee and tea always available and a good to-go breakfast with a hot breakfast sandwich provided.
- cliffordh924 (10/5): Love the Refuge Inn! - It feels good to support a family-owned hotel that’s truly invested in its community. You can tell they care about both the people who live here and the travelers passing through, and I’m grateful to be a small part of that.
- W1909ZPlarrym (10/5): Hotel and staff were excellent. - Great place to stay while hunting. Excellent service, rooms, and flexibility. Definitely recommend!
- carlenaj2026 (10/5): Amazing Winter Art Retreat - What a wonderful experience for my personal art retreat. The staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and helpful. My room was spotless and offered a beautiful view of the wooded area, which was especially stunning at sunset. The value was exceptional, and the hot, homemade breakfast included each morning was a lovely bonus.
The library was a delightful and unexpected surprise, offering a peaceful space to relax and reflect. I truly can’t imagine a better combination of location, comfort, value, and tranquility for an art retreat. This will absolutely be my first choice for the group art retreat I have planned in the future.
- Venture16364288083 (10/5): Great place for Assateague visitors - Great great place. Heated pool, hot tub, sauna, rooms have balconies, nice staff, free breakfast, cheap rental bikes, and great low prices! I'm going back
- adrienner312 (10/5): Refuge Inn is a GEM! - This place is a gem! The rooms are so cozy and elegant. Each room is different and warm! Breakfast delivery to your room at your chosen time. Views of horses on one side of Inn, or you'll catch deer frolicking on the other side. AND THE STAFF - their quality of service and hospitality is EXCELLENT!!!
- paolapS2630ME (10/5): Wonderful stay!!! - Beautiful place, they have horses, wonderful staff and the coolest greenhouse pool! Stayed twice for a women's retreat and they took such good care of us! I would recommend this place to anyone 😀
- R7302UVgeorgef (10/5): Outstanding! - Superior in every way. There is nothing to criticize. We can only offer superlatives.
The inn is wonderful and the employees are very friendly.
- aCb24_25 (10/5): AWESOME! - This was above and beyond what we expected for our first visit! We love everything about your place…. It is obvious you take pride in your establishment and want to share that with others to enjoy! Thank you! May our paths meet again some day in the near future.
- paulmO7763NN (10/5): Perfect getaway - Refuge never disappoints. My wife and I always joke that we don't want to write rave reviews about this gem because we don't want others to find out about our special place. And that's what this is....A Special Place. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Refuge. My review would never end. The pool, the hot tub, the sauna, the gym, the rooms, the shower, the breakfast.....it's all perfect. Their attention to detail is absolute perfection.
- RebeccaD2187 (10/5): Best place to stay on Chincoteague Island. And, close to the refuge. - A lovely stay at a hotel that made every effort to make us feel cared for, comfortable, and special. Lots of attention to details but the overall objective of making guests feel comfortable, at home, and cared for was evident throughout our stay. Wonderful staff! We will definitely return and recommend to family and friends. Thank you staff and management at The Refuge!!!!
- 245Jgrace522 (10/5): New Year’s retreat. Couple time. - Had another great time. This is a family owned hotel, and you could not ask for more. Excellent rooms, wonderful amenities, free breakfast, and you are treated like family. Our favorite place to stay. We have been coming to the island for over 40 years and this is our favorite place.
- margiet2026 (10/5): A gem of a spot - Refuge Inn is a charming, comfortable, one of a kind experience. The rooms are nicely decorated with unique pieces of furniture. The rooms are very clean and very comfortable. Every morning breakfast is delivered to your room (included with your stay) and there is good coffee available all day. From the hotel, you can walk (or quick drive) over to Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. Great, quiet location. We love it!
- V8653XYmattn (10/5): Love it here - Never stay anywhere but here on the island. Super clean all the time never an issue staying here. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Family run.
- Fearless651320 (10/5): Must book here!! - The refuge inn gave us that homey feel with some modern amenities. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool was heated!! And breakfast was delivered promptly every morning. We loved how close it was to the wildlife refuge and the seashore.
- C1638GTjohnm (10/5): Comfortable, friendly place to stay - It’s a wonderful place to stay. Conveniently close to the Refuge and beach. It’s clean and staff are friendly and helpful. Sauna and hot tub were great. Free coffee and breakfast
- KarolinaJohnG (10/5): Best place to see Assateque ponnies - Great location, clean rooms, amazing atmosphere - thank you to friendly staff. Pool - maybe the best ever that we swam- felt like you are in the jungle... Being surrounded by tropical plants and kept at 88 degrees
- suzannemE7529VM (10/5): We stay at the best inn. - We’ve stayed here for years. It is a family-owned place of distinction. Closest to the Refuge; quiet; rooms well-appointed. Take simply their parking: all shaded, along one side you park near your room, along the other side you park near your room and next to their pony pasture. No big expanse of sun-baked asphalt.
- kathrynwY2807AF (10/5): You must visit! - Lovely place! Clean comfy king room with bird theme. Nice breakfast included. Great location and friendly staff. Will definitely come back.
- Excursion02015806025 (8/5): Another great stay - This is the third time we've stayed at the Refuge Inn and it's always been a good experience. The staff is absolutely wonderful. The breakfast can't be beat. The location and grounds are awesome. Our only complaint is that the heating and air conditioning units in the rooms are loud. My husband is a light sleeper and this is the second time he's had trouble sleeping at the hotel. He said the unit sounded like someone was vacuuming in the room. The hotel is a bit older, and I'm sure the AC units get a workout so I kind of expect it. Other than the noisy unit, our stay was perfect. Even though the launch we came to see was postponed, we still got to be on island time.
I absolutely love the decor, they've done a wonderful job and every room has different furniture. I'd recommend this hotel in a heartbeat. But if you're a light sleeper, perhaps bring a sound machine or noise cancelling earbuds with you.
- colleen2842 (10/5): Best guest experience ever! - Lovely boutique style rooms, have stayed many times and it's the most exciting thing to open the door and see how beautifully each room is decorated. Close to the beaches, very comfortable beds, and cozy linens. Lovely breakfast delivered to our room and the lighthouse as a nightlight, ponies to greet you on arrival. What more could you ask?
- shorethang82 (10/5): Family fun - We stay here every-time we come and it’s always so clean and cozy. The staff treat you like family and we love how each room is decorated different. You won’t find that at any chain! Highly recommended!
- priscillag896 (10/5): Always worth the trip - We've been going to the Refuge since fall of 1984, and we've never stayed any place else in Chincoteague. It's wonderful.
- annmariet652 (10/5): We has a wonderful time at The Refuge, hope to make it back in the future 😀 - My sister and I went to the Refuge in Chincoteague for our birthdays 🎂 🥳 Very much enjoyed the breakfast in a bag, horses ,pool and the coffee bar. Thank you to Brandon ,front desk for all your help and guidance during our stay.Debbir and Ann marie
- T2997LCleor (10/5): Wonderful as always - The Refuge Inn is appropriately named. We always find we can relax and unwind there and leave looking forward to our next visit.
- 590LorraineP (10/5): Great getaway - The Refuge Inn is it a great location if you want to visit the national seashore, rooms are always clean about kept great service family friendly. What we like about it most is we can walk to our favorite restaurant, the Village.
I love sharing about this place since simultaneously don’t like to share because I don’t want the place to become so crowded that I can’t get a reservation.
- JAFKennedy (10/5): Warm & cozy ! - A clean & well maintained property, both inside, & out. The decor was old fashioned, it gave off a warm & cozy, feeling. Inviting, peaceful, an over all welcoming atmosphere. Not like a lot of newer places, that seem cold, & utilitarian. The pool & hottub where great especially after a long ride on our bikes. The staff was friendly & helpful .we are definitely looking forward to coming back again.
- Compass14756854867 (8/5): First time visitor - There were 2 couples during our visit. The rooms were very clean an comfortable. The front desk staff was helpful and friendly. We would definitely return.
- joanw656 (10/5): Wonderful ponies - Front desk were great. Breakfast delivered to your room. Quiet and peaceful. Ponies waiting to be fed across the parking lot. Only drawback were the mosquitoes. They were relentless.
- 632debbieo (10/5): Always a great place to stay, very friendly staff and clean. Very convenient to the park and other things. - Always a good experience at the Refuge Inn. The room is clean the front desk is very friendly and accommodating. We don’t stay anywhere else in Chincoteague.
- E8714IVbarbaras (10/5): Great as ALWAYS 😁✌️🫶 - Really nice again!!!! Everyone was especially great 👍....We will always stay at the Refuge Inn when we come to Chincoteague every 6 weeks. Thank You Refuge Inn for another great experience 🙏 🙌 👍 👏 ❤️
- jamesdU9174PR (10/5): A Most Delightful Time Away - We loved our stay at the Refuge Inn. It exceeded our expectations. The rooms were beautiful and super clean. We were treated like family by everyone. Breakfast was delivered right to our room. The Inn is very close to the beach, and the Chincoteague Museum is almost directly across the road. It was also so quiet at night. We are planning to come back to the Inn in both the Spring and the Fall. Can't wait to come back!!!!
- Sarah5678150 (10/5): A great place to relax - We enjoyed another stay at the Refuge Inn. Our family has been coming to visit Chincoteague for the past few years and we always choose this hotel despite many newer options in the area. Its location and bike depot make for an easy and fun visit to the wildlife refuge and beach. The ponies outside make for a fun activity for kids (and adults!), the pool and hot tub are are great finish to a day of biking surrounded by lovely tropical plants. But what makes the hotel really special are the fantastic staff, who are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The hotel is unique for its very relaxed and non-corporate feel. Also … the excellent breakfast scones and beignets and coffee in the lobby are worth a try.
- J3925ANjohnc (10/5): A+ Family Experience - Absolutely unparalleled experience for a stay on the island!! From the time you are entered, you are treated like family and they go above and beyond to make your stay PERFECT! The breakfast delivered to your room was some abolutely phenomenal. Ponies on the property, couple minute drive to the beach, amazing observation deck, a beautiful pool, extremely clean, such friendly staff and comfortable beds are just some of the perks. I wouldnt stay anywhere else!!
- sarah (10/5): - Would stay again
- sherripX7472RN (10/5): Chincoteague's Refugee Inn - We have been to Chincoteague a few times and it never disappoints. You cannot ask for a better place to stay at the Refugee Inn. Nestled in the pines this hotel is very family oriented and senior oriented. Close to food, trails and the National Shore.
- S455GLpamm (10/5): You will love it here! - Always a pleasure to stay at the Refuge Inn. Love the horsey, rustic decor and friendliness of staff. Clean rooms. They are always willing to accommodate. Chincoteague ponies on the property for your enjoyment. Cute little gift shop. Beautifully decorated swimming pool, hot tub, and sauna. No other place on the island I would stay. My only critique, however, is to make your reservations well in advance because they have a new system to determine pricing. The more booked they are, the higher the price for rooms. Even so, this is my go to when I visit the island. You will love it here!
- allisonb215 (10/5): Practically Perfect in Every Way! - The Refuge Inn is just absolutely perfect! It’s so cozy, major Hygge from the lighting, to the coffee/tea bar, to the pool and hot tub, everything is so peaceful, quiet, clean and cozy. We love the roof deck, and the balconies have the most perfect and comfortable chairs. The gift shop has absolutely everything, and the location is the best, hands down. Easy bike access to the park, and the bike rentals have saved us multiple times. After we quit camping, we stayed in several different locations and types of places and we couldn’t find the perfect spot until we stayed here! We’ll be back year after year!
- 533mckenziec (10/5): Piece of heaven! - This was our first time visiting chincoteague and we stayed here due to friends recommendations. Everything was great, the room and facility were clean, the front desk girls were friendly, the free coffee/tea were great, the ponies were a bonus to my 4 year old (and us,too!)The cleaning ladies even tucked my daughter’s baby doll in when they cleaned which she was tickled about. We can’t wait to visit again in April!
- amypR510HE (10/5): Refuge Inn—a gem! - Cute, clean and quiet! Friendly front desk staff. Very clean rooms with super comfy beds. Wonderful amenities.
Ponies to feed. Will definitely return!
- davidpI7154RC (10/5): Great place to stay. - Best location on the island. Super clean room. Room was larger than expected. Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet. And, free coffee. I give Refuge Inn an A+.
- Nelinda (10/5): - Great room and staff. Clean room
- lal42105 (10/5): Clean with nice personal touches - We booked the hotel last minute when driving into town. The hotel was very clean with nice personal touches. We wish we could have stayed longer . The front desk staff were very nice when we checked in. The room was pristine with not a speck of dirt. After check in, we went to the beach for a while and when we returned we went to the outdoor shower/pool area to wash our feet , but decided to stay and go for a dip as it was very inviting . We loved all the beautiful plants growing and felt like we were swimming in our own little oasis.
After the pool/hot tub dip, we were off to dinner and a sunset. When we returned, we enjoyed a nice drink on our patio before hitting the hay for the night. The bed was comfortable and we slept great. At check in, they gave us a form to fill out the night before for breakfast to be delivered to our room the next morning . The breakfast was left outside of our door for a selected delivery time which was perfect for us. I was sad to leave the hotel after one night especially as we checked into a chain in OC , MD the next day . I enjoyed our time in this family run hotel. I cannot wait to visit the hotel again and take the available bikes for a ride to the beach.
- Brian (10/5): - Staff was superb, Clean Room and Comfortable

- Carrie (10/5): - Lovely indoor/outdoor pool area
- princessmitzikaren (10/5): A Must Place To Stay - A Must place to stay! Beautiful rooms, beautiful pool area with jacuzzi and sauna. Feels like you’re in a tropical island in the pool area. Request a first floor room facing the woods. No elevator for the 2nd floor. Very quiet area and close to the beach. Beautiful gift shop. We really enjoyed having breakfast delivered right to our room each morning. The coffee (available all day and night including assorted hot teas) was very good and we enjoyed using the ice machine often. The fridge is a nice size including a little spot for ice packs. Kept things very cold. Comfortable beds!
- Rebecca (10/5): - Room was very clean, the site was beautiful, surrounded by trees, plenty of outdoor seating and tables to eat. I loved having breakfast brought to the door. The pool area is stunning, surrounded by greenery and plenty of seating. Loved our stay.

- Robert (10/5): - Great place to stay!
- Kathleen (10/5): Great place - This hotel was excellent. The staff was great, rooms were huge and they bring breakfast to your door!
- Claudia (10/5): - The location was excellent. Everyone on staff was very kind, friendly and helpful.
- Terry (10/5): We love staying at the Refuge Inn. - This trip was amazing. We took my granddaughter here four years ago at the Refuge Inn when she was six years old and we loved it so much we wanted to take the rest of the family here when her brothers got older. The horses at the hotel were a huge hit. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was delivered to the room every morning and was delicious. It was a simple breakfast of bacon, egg, and cheese on a croissant, but everybody enjoyed it plus you had yogurt, juices, fruit, and muffins so there was a little bit for everybody. The rooms were clean and neat. And the pool was heated and clean. We would definitely pick the Refuge Inn if we come back again. It’s a very family friendly place.
- Erika (10/5): - The Refuge Inn staff made me feel right at home. Easy check in, regardless we were early and we had a room in the first floor which was wonderful since we had access to the mini forest/patio area perfect for my two kids, 2 and 7. The yard also had access to the pool which was beautiful covered in plants and half outdoor/indoor. the hot tub did have a little too much chemical but it was clean. For every day we stayed breakfast was included. I would def stay here again.
- KATHERINE (10/5): Lovely stay at this Inn - Very happy with this out of the way inn with clean rooms, free breakfast, a beautiful pool basically in an atrium and a coffee bar. What more to ask for.
- Rachel (8/5): Pricey for what you get - Convenient to Assateague and bike rental, efficient check in/out, nice pool, outdoor patio. Pillows were WAY too thick, and free breakfast was worth skipping.

Front desk staff very pleasant and attentive. Room very comfortable and clean. We had an issue with patio sliding door. They came to fix it right away. We were impressed with the prompt response. We love staying at the Refuge Inn.

- T00000Ts (10/5): One of my most favorite places to be! - I’ve been staying at The Refuge for many years. It has been, and remains, one of my favorite parts of visiting Chincoteague island and Assateague National Seashore. The facility has been beautifully maintained and is current and up-to-date. The exterior areas are just gorgeous - loaded with beautiful flowers and greenery and even a fountain! Each room has either a balcony or a patio and sitting outside is really enjoyable thanks to the great landscaping. Guest rooms have all of the needed amenities, including a mini fridge and coffee maker. A centrally located microwave and paperback library are also available. Coffee and tea are located near the lobby and “to go” cups are available if guests want to take their morning beverages to the beach or just for a walk! Breakfast is included - a menu is provided and is hung on your door handle the night before. Guests can choose a delivery time and choices include a hot croissant egg sandwich, cereals, juices, fruit and pastries. WiFi is included and the signal is good. The rooms themselves are really comfortable with a large screen tv (great channel options!), good air conditioning and are fairly sound proof. The pool area is great and there’s a roof top observation deck (a little difficult to get up the spiral steps, though). Another plus for The Refuge is a large corral area adjacent to the parking lot where several ponies and their foals live! This area includes a picnic table and a walkway out to the bay that separates the 2 islands. Magestic mature pine trees shade this area so it’s a nice place to sit and watch the ponies! The entry to Assateague National Seashore is just seconds from The Refuge. I highly recommend The Refuge and wouldn’t stay anywhere else on the island.
- Sharon (10/5): Steps away from Assateague Park ponies & ocean - Beautiful grounds, well kept, clean spacious rooms, breakfast included brought to your room.
