- Ruby (2/5): - The male working the front desk was very very nosey. He assumed I was lying about who was staying with me. I made it very clear to him it was 2 adults and 2 kids and he charged me for the kids. I was traveling with other family who were not staying there or with me and he kept asking them questions and literally following them around the premises to see where they were going and when they were leaving. They made it clear to him two or three times that they were picking something up from me. Overall that was extremely uncomfortable! And he promised a refund for charging me extra for my kids. And I have yet to get that. I would not recommend this place.

The bed springs and the bed not too comfortable in the springs were very noisy as if they were rusty or something every time you move around you hear big clunk… also they did not have a smart TV. Only DIRECTV channels cannot watch your Netflix or Amazon.

- Terry (10/5): - The proprietors are Patels - they know how to run a great hotel/motel. Everything was great. Definitely do not book via Expedia, though -- just go to American Inn's website to book. Cheaper that way. And, Expedia is a horrible company! They will book you with hotels that do not honor the reservation! Expedia really sucks. That was my mistake - using Expedia. American Inn is great, though.

He did not confirm and when we and my family had left on Sunday to go do some things we came back to a locked out of our room he said oh ma’am, you already checked out I said no ma’am we check out on Monday And I just did not understand him was very rude and inconsiderate. I will never go there again. I will tell people not to go there. It smelt like chemical inside the room like really bad, not good chemical I don’t know I couldn’t pinpoint it. I’ve never had this kind of experience in a hotel at Pismo or this one was in Grover Beach

We booked this place since it was advertised as "pet friendly" but they charged us too much for not letting us leave our pegs unside the room with the ac on even so they went inside and turned it off. We wont be booking here any more since they also go in your room daily and take towels and they dont restock them until 2 days later.
- Leah (2/5): - It looked nothing like the pictures. It didn’t seem like a very safe neighborhood. The curtains didn’t really cover the window, so the light bulbs outside were shining in the room all night and then come 6am the sun was blaring in. When I made the reservations I made them for me and my 2 kids (which I stated online when I made the reservation) and when I went to check in the guy made me pay an additional $10 saying since my kids were over 10 years old I needed to pay more. I realize it’s only $10, but it’s just really annoying that it wasn’t included in the original price. It was overall not a great experience.
- Robert (8/5): - It is a cost vs benefit issue. It is a simple and small hotel room, but relatively clean. If you just need a place to sleep and a reasonable price, this place will work. This is especially true for the week. The price jumps quite a bit on Saturday, so I would consider another place on Saturday.

(2/5): - Upon arrival, the the manager made it difficult to check in, rudely demanded my service animal’s registration, $100 cash for incidentals, and on top of that, the shower and phone in the room were not even working. Therefore, I had to walk to the office, wait for the manager to wake up so get me shower fixed. First, he confirmed that the phones don’t work, next he told ME to fix my shower myself. (Where maintenance?!)Then, he asked me to get out of my room he can try. He made me move to the other side of the street while doing so because he seemed terrified of my very friendly service animal. He fixed my shower and when trying to thank him, he literally just walked away and said nothing. As someone who works in this industry, I was shocked at how someone who lacks basic customer service and hospitality skills could a run a hotel. Will never be back again and would NOT recommend to anyone.

This is hands down the best place in the area for the rice. I recommend the king size room with upgrade.. best of travels!!!

The manager in charge is extremely disrespectful and dismissive. He will yell at you if you ask for reimbursement for not choosing to stay in a unkept room. Between them not washing the sheet and strands of black curly hairs everywhere. There was also white crumbs all over the remote control for the tv. If I could give this review NO STARS I would. There is no way this meets health standards for guest!! This room is extremely unhigienic and should be reported! Do not stay there!!!

- John (8/5): - Based on other reviews I had read prior to our stay, I was expecting the manager to provide a cold welcome, but it was just the opposite - he (and his son?) were very welcoming and also polite as we were leaving. The room was as expected, nothing fancy, but did the job, especially for under $100 per night - shower pressure was great, bed was relatively comfortable, parking right next to your room, walkable to some restaurants nearby, although the walls were pretty thin, so it really depends on who you get as a neighbor. Overall pretty good.

The flooring & bathroom has been updated to a more current style. Our room, the linens & the towels were all clean & fresh. The mattress was thinner than most mattresses, but surprisingly comfortable. We slept very well. We appreciated the amenities of having a mini refrigerator, microwave & the coffee maker. The owners were the same as the last time we were there about 3 years ago. They both are professional & friendly. We will be back.

- John (10/5): - "Harry", the proprietor, is a really nice guy. The place is quiet and well located in Grover Beach. Only problem is the heating unit comes on very loud and intermittently throughout the night. They are nice enough to provide ear plugs, but a quieter unit or one where you could leave the fan always on would be better. Nice property and good people, though.

I don’t like the road closures in both directions on West Grand Street due to construction. The bus does not stop on West Grand and north 6th Street due to street closure in both directions.
