Guest Reviews
- Sarah (9/5): Loved it! - Fantastic location, excellent staff and service. Fun to stay in a 1870 “cottage” Nice breakfast The bed :(
Not very comfortable
- Guest (9/5): -
- Marna (7/5): Average stay. Location good - Location. Front porch. Ability to store luggage. Small rooms. Noisy from quests and water pipes. No fridge or coffee in room. Staff not friendly.
- janet (9/5): Welcoming cozy good value definitely book again - The breakfast was excellent fresh fruit every morning fresh bagels muffins to toast eggs to your liking couldn’t fault it We where happy with everything our room was cozy and suited our needs
- Glenn (9/5): -
- Donna (3/5): Old house run like a student hostel. - Continental breakfast was good. We did not have any hot breakfast.
Bed linens and towels were nice and very clean.
Parking was convenient.
Nice location in a quiet, charming neiborhood.
Nice seating on outdoor porch The staff was not welcoming or friendly. It fealt like they were tired of being there and were ready for the season to end.
The property is a beautiful old house, but it needs netter maintenanxe and much better cleaning.
The carpet in the room closet waa filthy and rank. All items kept in there ended up smelling like mold.
The bath room had areas of mold and mildew.
Age and high volume traffic wear and tear are understanable, but when a toilet seat is so worn it can no longer be cleaned, it should be replaced.
Fresh towels were provided daily, but garbage was never collected.
Mattress was worn out and very soft.
- margaret (7/5): Location was best part. Staff not attentive - Location was excellent. We walked everywhere. Bed was good, pillows were good. Hot shower. Breakfast was ok. No communication response from staff. Before I arrived they were great. Texted me asking when I would arrive. We were early but they told me our room would be ready, which it was. We went out and when we returned around 7pm, there was no power in our room. I texted that same number - no response. I called that number- no one answered, left a message. So I went downstairs looking for someone to help. Didn’t see anyone. I started knocking on doors, calling for someone to help. After about 5 minutes one of the staff came out. He walked over to circuit breaker and flipped it. He never said anything, he never apologized for the inconvenience. I finally got a response to my 7pm text at 11 am the next morning. Really? My power went out again before we checked out and I had to run down again. Same thing, no response from staff. I realize it’s not a hotel, but I think expecting power and a timely response is important
- Ethel (4/5): disappointed. - location and the beautiful house and gardens across the street. Staff was not friendley. Rooms were not as expected for the price paid. Accomodations were lacking. Bathroom was sad!
- Natalie (6/5): -
- Victoria (10/5): Nice! - Quiet and quaint, beautiful street, great location, easy to relax None
- Margarita (9/5): Unique and peaceful - Very cozy and unique! Not another corporate hotel, this place tells a story. We loved to sit on the porch and look at bunnies and skunks. Great breakfast We were cozy, but wish the room was a little bigger. It would be nice to have more storage
- Laura (10/5): Fairytale room in a lovely location! - Absolutely beautiful building and room. Great location! The curtains in our room were too sheer; didn’t feel private.
- Camassar (9/5): A wonderful getaway in a lovely Oak Bluffs Cottage. - Beautiful, quintessential Oak Bluffs cottage property in a quiet location but so convenient to the action on Circut Ave. The breakfast served daily was delicious and convenient. Eating on the front porch was delightful. Staff were friendly and helpful. A/C was a little wonky but it’s been working hard this summer! :)
- Guest (10/5): -
- Guest (9/5): A relaxing oasis with rich culture and family vibes. - The comfort/ kindness of the staff and rich conversations on the porch. Meeting new people through Yoga and morning breakfast. Also, the convenience of the house location.
- Louise (10/5): Location and charm abound in this historic home. - Location and entryway are amazing. Beautiful old home. There was only one outlet in my room, and no TV, which I knew going in. But I still missed it.
- Sherise (10/5): -
- Joyce (5/5): Very disappointed in Bed & Breakfast Staff - I liked how they service your room daily. I liked that they offered beach chairs and towels for the beach. The rocking chairs on the porch was nice. After 3 days a friendly employee showed up, which was refreshing and I told her so. I also liked that they had juice and alcoholic beverages available for free. Made to order waffles and egg choices were okay. I did not like how unfriendly the intake staff and everyday staff was. They acted like we were bothering them if we asked for something so we tried not to ask. After 3 days of being there another staff member showed up and was very friendly. A breath of fresh air and I told her so. Our waffles usually came out luke warm or cold so we didn't order them again. Just be patient for your made to order order. We saw another guest get bacon and when we asked the cook he said that there was no more. We offered to go buy some and he said that he doesn't eat meat so he doesn't like cooking it. NOT COOL!!!!! Also, I've never seen such a small TV in a room. It was like 13" My 6 year granddaughter asked me what it was??? LOL/SMH
- Mark (9/5): Superb - Location and charming
- Gina (7/5): Good -
- Brittney (10/5): So conveniently close to everything while still feeling quaint and quiet. The front porch is perfection! - So conveniently close to everything while still feeling quaint and quiet. The front porch is perfection!
- Beata (9/5): Superb - Absolutely lovely and charming house in great location. Everything was great
- Aygun (8/5): Great experience if you’re looking for a convenient location in a cute house! - The location, terrace and seating areas, the staff and breakfast! I liked most of the things, cleanliness could be a little better!
- Ulrike (9/5): Charming accommodation with exceptionally friendly staff - The location is perfect – everything is within easy walking distance. Omelets and all kinds of egg dishes are freshly prepared upon request. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The room, especially the bathroom, was quite small, but the charming little balcony more than made up for it.
- Terence (9/5): Superb -
- Gary (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Lindsay (9/5): Superb -
- Christine (10/5): This will become my new home away from home when I visit the island. I had stayed with family here since 1969, and they - Every question was answered cordially, and with a positive result. Every possible need was addressed and all of the guests in the house for most courteous and welcoming in addition to all the staff. I can’t find a thing wrong!
- Donna (10/5): A very relaxing, peaceful and calm environment. We can hardly wait to return in the near future. - The staff was friendly, kind and attentive. They were responsive to our needs and made us feel welcomed. Everything was great!
- Angie (8/5): Adorable place and friendly staff! Convenient to everything and the food was delicious! -
- Veronica (10/5): The staff was exceptional. They exuded such a home away from home feeling. They were accommodating, but the atmosphere - The property is picturesque which I love as opposed to a hotel stay. The staff prepared breakfast for us which was delicious. I loved communing with other guests from various parts of the country and I wish I would have booked more time.
- Michele (8/5): Fabulous staff and location! Clean, with wonderful breakfast included. - The breakfast was much more than expected! Continental plus freshly made eggs and waffles! Although they did say the room would be small, you couldn't even walk around the bed. The shower was like a phone booth. It was the smallest room and least expensive avaliable, to be fair.
- Anonymous (9/5): Loved it - Breakfast was fantastic. No TV...
- Jade (9/5): Superb -
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional - Staff went above and beyond and were exceptionally welcoming. Location was perfect— just a short walk from the ferry and two blocks from the main commercial street.
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were over the top courteous, accommodating, and made some fantastic breakfast!
The house and room were fantastic, 19th century charm, the room was perfect for our needs - it had a bed, a bathroom, and air conditioning. That's about all you really need if you're visiting Martha's vineyard. And the location could not be better; a block from the strip of shops, bike rentals, etc, yet on a very quiet residential street.
We will DEFINITELY be staying there when we go back
- Krystin (10/5): We had a great anniversary trip to the vineyard and would absolutely stay here again ! - It was cozy but roomy and very charming ! We were upgraded to the big suite and had our own balcony off the room. The staff were incredibly kind and hard working and very accommodating to everyone’s needs. There were other people staying there and we couldn’t even tell.
- Anonymous (10/5): Great location & super cute inn! - We loved the location & the staff - they were so kind and friendly. They even let us park the car at the property for an extra day. The location was really central and the inn was very well maintained.
- Anonymous (10/5): If you are looking for a home away from home, Narragansett House it’s it! - This was our first trip to Oaks Bluff for pure pleasure. We had no idea where to stay. When we found Narragansett House we knew that was the place for us! It is quaint, comfortable, neat as a pin, and relaxing! The staff were over the moon friendly, attentive, and generous with their time. The location is perfect for walking through town shopping or grabbing a meal. We will be back! Parking was a bit limited, but it was EVERYWHERE! It wasn’t an issue for us.
- Nayla (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely excellent bed and breakfast, clean, friendly, comfortable
- Susan (10/5): It was a short trip to celebrate and the building, staff and location to the heart of Oak bluffs was - The breakfast was delicious. The staff genuinely warm, friendly and helpful.
- Donna (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, wonderful staff, fantastic breakfast.
- Justin (10/5): We had an excellent weekend here, hoping to get the opportunity to repeat it next year - Excellent location, had the charm of a historic property but was very well maintained like a newer one, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Loved it
- Anonymous (10/5): Quaint, cozy, wonderful! - The location was fantastic, the building is gorgeous, and the room was cozy. Breakfast was great and the staff was incredibly helpful and allowed us to leave our bags.
- Hadewych (6/5): Pleasant - The room and bathroom were clean The size of the room and the bed!
Breakfast: no bread...
- Bobbi (7/5): The location was amazing! So convenient! But the facility itself could have been better. - Breakfast was ok but that’s it. The bread was often stale (hard) and the selection decreased over the length of our stay. We had a kitchen the but no utensils! Not even a glass!
- Emmanuel (5/5): Not bad - Good breakfast climate of room and poor television selection
- Agnes (10/5): Great bed and breakfast would definitely recommend - Great location in a quiet area and walking distance to everything in Oak Bluffs. The staff was so wonderful and responsive to all our needs. The room was a bit small and it was a bit cold. The humidity was in the room nothing would dry.
- Eileen (8/5): Very good -
- Mihaela (10/5): One of most beautiful and special places we stayed accross the world - The house is something out of a movie, so beautiful and full of history.
The porch had rocking chairs and loved sitting there with a cup of tea listening to birds and reading books about Martha’s Vinyard history.
We were lucky to have breakfast out on the porch before weather changed.
Our room was small but had everything we needed, a comfortable bed, the best mattress i slept in a hotel and a very good shower. Loved the decor, we instantly relaxed and felt the peace in that place.
Breakfast was so tasty, with choice of boiled eggs, delicious freshly baked muffins and fruit.
Special thanks to Omar who looked after us and cooked most delicious scrambled eggs. He has such a calming and reassuring nature. We were caught in the storm from Atlantic which hit the island. Omar was so helpful trying to find out information and call the ferry company for us.
We loved the history, charm and beautiful people who make this island so special.
Thank you for looking after us.
- Janice (8/5): Great location. Friendly team. Good breakfast every day. - Great location. Friendly manager. Newly renovated bathroom. Rug in room was visibly dirty and very worn. Tiny tv.
- Leanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Walter (10/5): Exceptional - Location was great-close to beach and shopping and good resturants That I couldn't stay longer
- Barbara (8/5): loved it - locations was perfect, breakfast was good.Loved sitting on the porch,
- Phoebe (8/5): Lovely gingerbread house, convenient to all Oak Bluffs attractions - Charming, great location, good breakfast Room was quite small (as advertised), bed too soft (personal taste)
- Pamela (10/5): Exceptional - Very relaxing
- Katherine (8/5): Very good - The breakfast was OK. We really liked the egg cups. The nightly dessert was also appreciated. The balcony in our room had nails sticking put of the broken spindles.
- Michelle (8/5): Quirky authentic homely experience, not plush. - A very quirky old house that you need to take as you find it. No curtain to block the sun in our room, just nets which was quite odd. We ended up getting a bedspread to hang over the main window. Lovely porch to relax on and very cute street. Lovely garden to sit in and only 5 mins from the beach and all the shops are restaurants and 8am beach yoga on weekends. Breakfast is food left out in a small kitchen area which has tea and coffee for most of the day (Coffee ran out sometimes). A few bagels and small omelettes (egg cups) most days, which are cold if not just made, and a toaster. Food left out with no cover to keep flies off. Juices and water free all day. Some days they made waffles or scrabbled egg to order which was lovely. No Curtains on windows. Better breakfast would have been good. Didn't tell us we could have beach towels and chairs to borrow when we checked in so we missed out. Very weird automated messages sent all the time after booking demanding a deposit that was already paid-felt quite threatening. Staff were a group of young people in the kitchen who were not always there. Lots of different staff.
- Diana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeanette (8/5): Great stay! - The breakfast in the morning was great and the staff was very friendly. I loved the porch and the happy hour snacks and drinks. I am pretty tall and the bathroom showers were small.
- Alison (10/5): Lovely, historic B&B run with love and care. Great location in Oak Bluffs - The house was adorable and the staff were helpful and nice. They gave us personalized reccomendations and everything we needed. Each night there were homemade cookies, a happy hour with prosecco, and in the morning the muffins were freshly baked and some of the best I've had. We loved this sweet little B&B and would be lucky to return. I loved this aspect and it was what I was looking for, but this is an OLD house and feels like it. The hallways are narrow, the rooms were well appointed but small, because they are historic! So make sure you know what you're booking.
- Deborah (7/5): Lots of places to choose from in MV, not recommending this spot. - Location was great, lots to do within walking distance At check in, we were told we could order omelets for breakfast but the next morning, the girl had no idea what we were talking about, so we had the mini quiches which tasted like they were frozen and then nuked. We were also told that breakfast was 8-10am but coffee was available at 7am. On our 2nd morning there, at 7:20am there was no coffee and the girl who had just arrived (I held the door for her) told me she was about to make coffee. No apology and a bit of attitude. We skipped breakfast. Mattress was SO soft and lumpy, it was hard to sleep. Lots of blinds in #11 were broken, even in the bathroom. Cupboards were difficult to open since there were no pulls, but we got them open to find random dishes which we left in the dish drain so the next guest wouldn’t have to go through the trouble we had. Room was broom clean but not as clean as we’d expect from a hotel/B&B, especially the bathroom. The room was quiet and the rockers on the porch were nice, but overall we were disappointed.
- Mary (1/5): This was the WORST place I have ever stayed. This place needs a lot of work. - This was the worst place I've ever stayed. I did not like anything about this place. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The entrance was dirty. The rooms were dirty, filthy. The bathroom shower was filthy. The floors and rugs were filthy, dirty. The bed was not comfortable. I did not sleep at all. There was mold in the rooms. We did not stay the 2nd night. We left and found somewhere else to stay because we could not do that another night. We did not feel safe at this place. The front entrance door stayed open.
- Keith (10/5): Stay here and you’ll find faith in humanity again! - I’d say everything! Just what we were looking for!! Hard to believe this exists in this rat race of a pace world!! Nothing
- Cindy (10/5): It was our first trip to MV and it won’t be our last! We would love to return to Narragansett House - The vibe was awesome. Great staff, great accommodations, great location!!
- Matt (9/5): A perfect place to stay for a Martha’s Vineyard getaway - Perfect location, quirky charm and comfortable room, staff was helpful and friendly Our room had a tiny tv (approx 20in) and no full length mirror, much to my wife’s chagrin
- Melissa (8/5): Very good -
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - Very comfortable guest house; friendly & helpful staff; lovely breakfast on the porch N/A
- Mireille (8/5): My family enjoyed the visit. Short stay. Planning on returning for a longer visit. - Miscommunication of accommodations. Breakfast was delicious. Property was really clean and landscaping was well kept. Walking distance to beach and downtown area. Location was perfect for not needing a vehicle. Getting resolution in a timely manner. Staffing is limited throughout the day, but they were very friendly.
- Finn (9/5): Very friendly and accommodating staff, and it was great to meet so many different people relaxing on the porch. - So quaint and relaxing! Broken tile in doorway that tripped my daughter a few times but the house is old so we understood.
- Stephen (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great and the location was prime! The staff was super nice and would even bake you waffles in the morning when asked! Great hotel and experience! Nothing! Everything was fantastic!
- David (9/5): Superb - The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming
The location is superb. I brought my car over from the mainland. I could have easily walked to the attractions in town and gotten elsewhere by bus. Breakfast was good, but maybe mixing it up more by offering different egg choices on different days.

- Martin (7/5): Our stay was comfortable and met our expectations. - The hot breakfast was good as well as the coffee and tea There was not a full length and close up mirror in the room.
- Eileen (9/5): Superb -
- Carolina (9/5): Charming Stay in Excellent Location - This is a charming stay in a quiet section of Oak Bluffs, within close proximity to the shops and restaurants. It offered a light breakfast with a variety of options including made to order eggs, fresh muffins, bagels and fruits. The wrap around veranda with rocking chairs offered a lovely seating area to enjoy your breakfast or read a book. The room was an adequate size with well functioning air conditioning and comfortable beds. It is a lovely stay for a peaceful getaway. The overall room was lovely and comfortable. We did have a faulty bathroom sink that when in use caused water to leak onto the floor as it appears the pipe below needs to be repaired or tightened. We placed towels on the floor when the sink was in use as a precaution.
- William (8/5): Very good - Breakfast was great, especially the scrambled eggs Tv didn’t work the second night
- Alison (10/5): I had the time of my life, amazing experience - Friendly staff, beautiful clean accommodations & great location I was sad when my stay ended
- Guerrino (6/5): Pleasant -
- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Guerrino (4/5): Disappointing -
- Richard (8/5): Great property with a few foibles - A beautiful property located just off one of the main streets in Oak Bluffs. Easy walking distance from the ferry and to restaurants, shops and the wonderfully named "Reliable Market" supermarket.
We had the honeymoon room which has its own small balcony over the entrance porch - a beautiful room!
The decor of the whole property is clean, fresh and appealing.
Wonderful and very friendly staff. They even let us borrow some folding chairs to take to the beach. Uncomfortable bed (maybe just our age LOL).
Our room only had net curtains, and facing the road this is somewhat of a privacy issue at night - we had to get changed in the ensuite bathroom.
No tea/coffee in the room. Would suggest swapping the (tiny) TV for a coffee maker.
There is no room to eat breakfast other than the tables and chairs on the veranda outside. This is OK in fair weather, but we had a rainy day and had to eat off our laps on the sofas in the entrance hall.
- Nathan (10/5): The stay was very relaxing and enchanting. Thank you! - We loved the home, decor, hospitality and relaxing atmosphere. Everything was great. No complaints.
- Lori (9/5): The staff was wonderful and friendly, and the coffee was hot and flavorful, and we loved how close it was to downtown!! - If you want to stay in a gingerbread house, this is the spot. Very close to downtown restaurants and shops. And a short walk from the ferry. We wish the TV was bigger, lol‼️
- Diane (8/5): Comfortable stay in historic house - Clean and tastefully decorated
- Rebecca (4/5): Room disappointing , overpriced, hosts very nice - The hosts Omar and Chavel could not have been nicer and accommodating. Very kind and made delicious breakfasts. The almond poppyseed cake that Omar baked was incredible. The room was so small , could not even put both suitcases on the floor. The linens were very tired. The stairway to the upstairs were very steep and felt unsafe. Staircase also not clean, walls, trim floor unsanitary. I felt for the money the room was way over priced.
- Heidi (9/5): Superb - Location, very relaxed would love to return Nothing to dislike
- Elisabeth (10/5): Perfect introduction to the island - The spirit of the house: friendly, cool and relaxed. In a nice, quiet street, but short walking distance to the port, the town beach and restaurants and shops. Enjoyed sitting on the beautiful veranda. Omar and Chavel took perfect care of all my needs! Aircon is loud, but thats the case almost everywhere, and I try not using it.
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Antoine (9/5): Wonderful place to stay with friendly and helpful staff - Location was great. Close to everything. The front porch was wonderful to relax on. Breakfast was really good. The staff is very friendly and helpful. For people with mobility issues, know that the stairs are narrow and steep (but part of the charm of an old property).
Very small shower.
No closet or any storage other than 2 bedside table drawers.
We had room number 8. Would be good to add a privacy curtain on side window by the stairs.
Would still come again.

- Megan (10/5): Loved our stay and will be sure to be back when visiting the island again! - We loved our stay here! The location was amazing and so close to many attractions in the Oak Bluffs area! Felt like you were at the center of everything! The house was beautiful and quaint and the staff were so welcoming and kind. The breakfast each morning was fresh and delicious. Loved the rocking chairs out front and how at peace it felt being there. 100% recommend staying here!
- Ayette (2/5): Think Twice. - Staff The room booked was falsely advertised as being larger and with certain accommodations that it did not have.
- Janel (8/5): It was a charming place to stay, but the room and bathroom were extremely small for the price $$ - The location was perfect. The house was adorable with the charming front porch The room was tiny with a very, very small shower.
- Anne (8/5): Wonderful and fun stay in Oak Bluffs and enjoyed Narragansett House especially engaging with guests - Staff was attentive with timely serving of breakfast which was consistent and good. -The beds could use firmer and newer mattresses.
-Room needed mirrors. There is one in bathroom and one small, highly placed mirror that was hard to get to
- Tarrah (9/5): Overall, my stay was better than expected and I would definitely stay here again! - Staff was very friendly! They were excellent with communication prior to my visit to make sure I was all set. The location is wonderful and very walkable to many shops, restaurants and the ferry.
