It wasn’t until I tried to get a suprise for my inlaw’s for there annaversary. Asking the front desk if they had any kind of suprise. The manager was talking to me after 15 minutes waiting at the front. When she finally got there. 1 minute into the conversation completely disregarded me and started talking to another person that had just come in. I wait patiently for about 30 seconds until I interrupted. I finally got the final goal I was reaching for. That moment of disrespect from the manager told me everything I need to know about the place. Just imagine you in my shoes. You would feel the same. Nobody wants to be disregarded. So in general Overpriced- great waiters- horrible management.

• Oldfoxbob (10/5): You cant go wrong by staying here! - This 5 Star hotel deserves every star it has...Clean, friendly staff, beautiful furnishings, and more. This was my first experience here and I was pleasantly surprised. The room was a poster bed, Tv , easy chair, desk, and more. The plush bathrobes were great also and unexpected. I will really stay here again and again when in parkersburg WV. You cant go wrong here. Cafe was great food, quick and attentive service. cooked to perfection. Even if just for a good dining experience this is the place.
• jonathaneW1040WT (6/5): Beautiful hotel, rooms are dated - The hotel is gorgeous, exterior and inside as well. The library had been turned into a Peanuts themed Christmas display. Great historical displays of politicians who visited over the years, and photos everywhere. The restaurant was very good. The rooms are cramped and outdated, and frankly make a visit to the hotel a little less special. Probably because the hotel was built with just a common bathroom on each floor, it seems like the individual bathrooms were fit into the original space of the room. Maybe better for a couple in one room, but a standard double was too small for our party of three ('g wife and I and our 20 yo daughter). A few other oddities left me with a bad impression. When booking in the hotel website I was promised special perks for booking directly with them. It turns out that this was supposed to be a fruit and cheese platter, but it was never offered to me when checking in. Later I was told that they had no way of knowing that I had booked directly with them, which just seems odd. Finally, a surprise 3% credit card fee tacked onto my bill after checking out was pretty unusual. I know that it's hard for businesses to make a profit these days, but why not just charge more? A hotel just doesn't seem like the kind of business where paying cash is a frequent option, but maybe I'm not their typical customer. I spend about 30 nights a year in hotels for business mostly, and have never seen a charge like this before. Beautiful hotel, great restaurant, probably better for a visit to look around and eat than staying overnight.

They host a shelter animal in the lobby, and visitors can elect to walk the dog and love on them during their stay. The speakeasy is a special treat, with period style entry and historical prints/artifacts on the walls. Everything is just amazing. We will definitely be coming back!!
• bschaff (4/5): Good Visit but Poor Food Service - Attended Thanksgiving Dinner at Blennerhassett. What was offered for this dinner was great food; however, Thanksgiving meals SHOULD ALWAYS SERVE DRESSING, AND MASHED POTATOES WITH GRAVY. These two items were noticeably missing from this years offering. Also, after this Thanksgiving meal offering to serve about 400 people, the hotel essentially stopped serving food or drinks to the guest who were checked into the hotel to stay overnight. Plus, all the nearby restaurants were closed because of Thanksgiving holiday. This left us eating peanuts from a bag!!
• gtchemephd (8/5): Wonderful Thanksgiving Buffet But Restaurant Closed that Morning and Evening - We (myself, wife, two kids) stayed at the Blennerhassett Wednesday night before Thanksgiving and Thursday night, in a Junior Suite as we have before numerous years. My in-laws also stayed for those nights. Our room was very nice as usual. Extra towels and pillows were provided as requested. We love the little courtyard on the 3rd floor and the fitness room (although one of the treadmills is broken). The Christmas tree displays were also wonderful to look at. The Thanksgiving Buffet was wonderful with one exception ... no stuffing. That was a disappointment. How does one have Thanksgiving without stuffing? The only other suggestion I would make is to please have some type of breakfast for guests Thanksgiving morning, and some kind of dining option Thanksgiving evening. I know all of the staff have worked hard, long hours for the buffet, but if you are staying at the hotel on a holiday, there are no other options nearby. Even the Tim Horton's was closed. Luckily my wife packed yogurt and apples else the kids would have been really hungry that morning. We had a 1 PM reservation at the buffet so the adults were okay going without dinner that evening, but we had to buy snacks for the kids. And ... the bar closed at 7 PM Thanksgiving evening. Next time we may just stay at a VRBO nearby where we at least can prepare some food.
• debrad28 (8/5): Nice historical hotel - We stayed at the Blennerhassett Hotel on our way back from Chicago to Virginia. The hotel is downtown Parkersburg with other historical buildings surrounding it. It's a nice area in which to walk. The parking lot for the hotel is behind the hotel. We love staying in historical hotels and the Blennerhassett Hotel is a very nice historic hotel. It has been furnished with older pieces of furniture and the lobby and bar area were very nicely furnished and inviting. The lobby was decorated with Christmas trees decorated by local businesses when we visited, which were beautiful! The young lady at the front desk was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Our room had two queen beds, as well as a desk and a small dresser with a TV. The bathroom was a good size with a combined tub/shower. The water took a long time to heat up when we took our showers and it was difficult to adjust the temperature. The hotel is at the corner of two main streets in Parkersburg, and we could hear quite a bit of road noise, which made it difficult to sleep. All in all, we were glad that we stayed at the Blennerhassett, but I am not sure that we would stay again due to the road noise and the shower issues.
• G6551DOmichaelm (2/5): Food quality and price - I went to our our wonderful blennerhasset hotel today for Thanksgiving buffet. I am sorry to say that the last two times I have ate at the hotel ,it was not good. Well they did not disappoint today either. Their food was not even mediocre at best. For the price they charge, it was just terrible. I talked to one of the owners, Lee Rector and he said I quote “that was not his department and he got the chef for me to talk to. “ He also said he had some great comments on the food i always thougjt that the buck stops with the owner. I guess not at the blennerhasset hotel. I talked to the chef and told him that all the food we had was cold not warm or hot but cold. The Brussels sprouts were hard not cooked and cold The carrots were hard, cold and not cooked Potatoes were cold and not fully cooked. The salmon was terrible and cold The ham was cold The prime rib was good but also cold The stuffed mushrooms were cold The turkey was dry and cold As a group we found nothing on the buffet that was really good There was no butter on the buffet for the rolls and when they brought it out it was frozen solid I also have always thought that ice tea has ice in it not a glass of warm tea with no ice The chef told me that all the vegetables were fresh and the staff tried them, and they were good . That is great but they still need to be cooked My experience the chef or sous chef should be checking the food I have 10 years in the hotel business as a director of catering and the chef is either incompetent or just plane lazy. He said he would check the water in the chaffing dishes well this should be done every hour on a Buffett and also check your sternos to make sure they are lit. There should be someone working the buffet to check on food, food temperature and making sure there is plenty of food. Myself and my party were very disappointed with the experience. I must also say no discount or a sorry for your experience was offered. They use to have great buffets and brunches at the hotel but not anymore. What a shame that this hotel has let their food standards fall below par. Mike Martin l
• r0naldsh (2/5): Horrible, unresponsive management - I usually love staying at this hotel, but unfortunately this stay was different. We booked for two nights. The morning after the first night’s stay we wanted to shower up from our long drive. The water was a disgusting brown. We notified the front desk and were told that is was the city working in the area. When said we will leaving and checking out, we were told maintenance worked on the boiler and did not flush all the lines. Strike one on management not informing reception to tell us at check in. I was told the manager would work with Expedia to refund the second night and offer compensation for the water condition on the first night’s stay. Left my number but was never called back, strike two. I called that afternoon, but the manager was gone. Left a message for them and my number to call back. Opno call back the next day, strike three. I had Expedia call and they talked to a manager named Jane. She refused to refund as I chose to check out. Strike for.. There’s no crying in baseball. I later called the hotel and was told that Jane was gone for th.enday a mere 60 seconds later. I was forwarded to the HR Manager, also gone for the dayland left a message. Completely unacceptable for a hotel of this price point. Although the reception staff were kind and tried to be helpful, there was never a manager available and no one else that could help. Plus, the management reuses to talk to their guests.

• thedogsm (10/5): Quaint, delightful hotel - We very much enjoyed our stay. Everyone was very welcoming. Our room was so pretty and comfortable. It wasn't busy, I'm sure because it was a Monday in early November, which made the night quiet. Dinner was fabulous. My husband had crab cakes and I had the calamari and she crab soup that was absolutely to die for. It was overall a lovely and delightful stay
• X1426UXmartinl (6/5): Disappointing Stay - I'm sorry that I cannot be more positive. Our stay didn't meet our expectations which were a somewhat historical experience. As an example the ceilings are made of white drop tiles. The rooms are badly in need of renovation. The person checking us in, who is usually the face of an organization, was very unfriendly which got us off to a bad start. We did find the rest of the staff to be helpful and friendly.

The staff were lovely and so welcoming and kind to our dog. There will never be another hotel that can top this one and I’ll never stay anywhere else when visiting my local family there.

• sderringer2 (10/5): Fantastic time at Blennerhassett Hotel and surrounding area - I surprised my husband with a weekend trip to the Blennerhassett Hotel and we went to the Blennerhassett Island Mansion by Candlelight event. We also visited the Historical District, Museums, Winetree Vineyards, and Fort Boreman. Everything was amazing! The Blennerhassett Hotel is beautiful and like stepping back in time. Loved the Speak Easy. Our room was clean, quiet, spacious, and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. Check in and check out was smooth. The outside areas of the hotel were decorated beautifully. The food was good but we did have to wait an hour to be served. I think they have a few problems with the kitchen help maybe. Our servers both days were excellent though. We will definitely be going again and we highly recommend the Blennerhassett Hotel.

• jdph00d (10/5): Missed Opportunity - Wow - great hotel with great service. We go to Parkersburg several times a year and the Blennerhassett will be "our" hotel from now on. Only regret is that we've been going to Parkersburg for decades and this was the first time we stayed with them!
• Steve (4/5): - Just about every area was dissapointing. Room was small, bathroom even smaller. No walk-in shower as advertised. One evening we had no parking available because of wedding crowd. You should have parking for guests staying at hotel seperate from guests coming for weddin. We had breakfast at hotel, it was poor. $44 for dried out, over salted egg/potato/sausage gravy/ biscuit bowl. Neither of us could finish it. The staff could not answer simple questions, nor did they seem interested in trying. It seems that all the hotel cared about was weddings taking place there, and not the guests staying at the hotel. We also feel we got price-gouged by expedia for room, even though it's supposed to save you money. When I asked the desk personal about it, they shrugged and said, thats odd, it's usually cheaper through them. You'll have to take it up with them, which I intend to do. Needless to say we will never chose to return there when in parkersburg area, and will advise others to avoid your hotel, unless they are having wedding there. You seem to treat those folks like you actually like and care about them. The only positive aspect was it was very clean, which is important.

When checking in, front staff was not friendly whatsoever, that was our first interaction with staff and it didn’t make a good impression. The room was nice, but didn’t have a mini fridge which we thought was odd, so we had to throw out our restaurant leftovers, and couldn’t keep drinks cold. Parking was sufficient for when we were there, but if all rooms are full, I’m not sure where anyone parks. We did not try the restaurant on site. It’s a nice, historic hotel that is in a good location.

• dmsparks16 (10/5): Great Short Getaway - The 24/7 gift shop and snack bar was great. The bed was comfortable and checking in was quick and easy since I did ahead of time. The parking lot is easy to get to and walk to. The only thing I wish they had was a mini fridge to keep my leftovers from when we went out to eat. I do recommend the resteraunt. The food was amazing and worth every penny. They even brought us a rose for our anniversary! We got the blennerhassett package which gave us passes to all the sites! I loved it. My husband and I had a great time.

Bar, restaurant, outside patio, Speakeasy are great. There is a library, snack and flower stands, convenient parking and valet services available. I would stay again!

• kathymX5252TW (10/5): Beautiful gem in Parkersburg - Wonderful historic hotel with the absolute best people running it. From the lovely decor (garden patio is beautiful), the delicious food from the restaurant and the well appointed comfortable rooms, this place is wonderful. Lee, Adam and Shelby treated us like family. The bellman was just coming on shift when we arrived and could have just walked in to the hotel. Instead he came over to our car in the parking lot and helped with our bags. I can’t say enough about this charming place. I would definitely come back and next time take advantage of the spa services.

At check in I was told the tour was at 8am. The next morning when we showed up for the tour we were told that they knew nothing about it. Also, we wanted to get drinks at the speakeasy but we went in and sat down and waited for at least 30 minutes and no bartender. This was around 10pm and we were told that it was open until 2am

However I do not recommend the hotel for business travel, unless you have business very close by. There is very little activity in downtown Parkersburg, and virtually no restaurants or shopping, except in the hotel. The Breakfast service is very slow, and business travellers cannot take an hour for breakfast, finishing at 8:00 at the earliest. The menu is limited and several of the offered items were not available. The room temperature control was erratic and noisy; but the WiFi was OK in the room, but not in the lobby or restaurant. The shower was excellent.
• elizabeth (8/5): - The hotel is absolutely beautiful. It isn’t a great location. The check in clerk was one of the rudest I’ve ever met. Due to her attitude I almost canceled my reservation with them for next month however, the rest of the staff and especially the restaurant staff went above and beyond.. the food is greatly overpriced and not really that tasty but the staff in the restaurant is the best I’ve ever seen.

The front door and registration staff are positioned for a high class experience but can’t really pull it off as they seem to lack dedication and training. But overall, very good. Will stay there again.

It was our first time staying at the hotel, and I can't say enough great things about it! The rooms were elegant and comfortable, the staff was terrific, and the food was delicious. The flower arrangements both inside and outside of the hotel made it stand out so beautifully. I would highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure! I would not recommend eating at the restaurant. Not only was the service slow but the food was average at best. I ordered chicken tacos and I received what I can only describe as something I would have made at 1 am after being out at a bar. We have the restaurant another try for breakfast, took nearly an hour from the time we sat down to when we received our food, and we were only a table of 4.
• Patricia (6/5): Don't count on getting what you reserved! - I made my reservations 4 months in advance since I am a senior with specific needs. Requested one king bed, shower with safety bars (no bath tub) and safety bars near toilet. Called the day before and confirmed this. Was told that I would have a king with a shower and toilet with safety bars. Arrived the next day and given a room with two full beds and a shower that you had to squeeze between the toilet and sink in order to close the bathroom door to get to the shower. Asked for a another room and was given a king bed but now a bath tub with one safety bar. and still had to squeeze in to shut the bathroom door to get to the bath tub. I just gave up and made due. Don't think I would stay there again.

• M7841CTscotto (2/5): Sad by this experience - Restaurant only experience. Service was ok, but sub par overall. Out of a party of 13 with very little deviations from the menu, it took almost two hours to deliver meals to the table, and nowhere near to being at the same time. Most meals were very overcooked. Burnt burgers, eggs on the Benedict’s were cooked to hard boil state. Very few us as a group ate our meals at the same time. We are not the kind of people to send food back or make complaints to a manager, but this one of the absolute worst meal experiences we’ve ever encountered. The very reluctant, summoned, manager was full of ridiculous excuses as to why the meals were delivered in such a state and the untimely manner. As far as I was concerned there was very little care for our thoughts to the quality of meals compared to what we’ve have had in the past. The meals were paid for in advance of the service concerns by one unwitting member of the group that was too mortified to rebuke the bill. After the manager rudely stated “what do you want me to do about it now?” we knew we would no satisfaction or adjustments . Two of the thirteen members of our party are from out of town, and were not impressed by this restaurant even after our assurances that is has been a quality establishment in the past. As for the other eleven of us; you’ve burnt that bridge. Just a terrible experience. With new ownership, this entire establishment has severely gone downhill.
• Verified traveler (10/5): Fun stay with history - It was on my Granddaughter's bucket list to visit this haunted domain. It was a great stay in our mini-suite. Got the haunted room 409 pictures, at the door.The walkable history lesson at the namsake museum is a must. It all made memories.

• 411lesleyt (8/5): Charming Boutique Hotel with Great Amenities and a Few Minor Drawbacks - We recently stayed at The Blennerhassett Hotel and overall had a fantastic experience. This boutique hotel is full of charm, with a beautiful historic building and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Its location is ideal, conveniently close to multiple dining options, though the on-site restaurant ended up being one of the highlights of our stay. The food was outstanding, especially the hot honey chicken sandwich and brisket nachos, which we’re still talking about! The speakeasy-style bar is a fun and unique touch, and our bartender, Anna, provided top-notch service. She was friendly, attentive, and made the experience even more memorable. Other thoughtful touches made our stay really comfortable: • 24/7 access to snacks and beverages was a big plus. • The bed was very comfortable, with great pillows and soft linens. • The bathroom was spacious and luxurious, featuring a large shower, soft towels, and cozy bathrobes that we genuinely appreciated. That said, there were a few downsides to note. • There is no mini-fridge in the room, which was inconvenient. • Our room was right next to Fourth Street and very noisy at night, which impacted our sleep. • The shower took quite a while to heat up, and the water never got truly hot. • Despite adjusting the thermostat, the room remained warmer than we would’ve liked. Even with those issues, the positives far outweighed the negatives. We’d definitely stay again and just request a quieter room next time. The Blennerhassett is a gem in Parkersburg and a great choice for travelers looking for character, comfort, and great food and service.
• robingraham0425 (10/5): Came home for visit. 50th class reunion weekend. - I came back to WV from FL for visit. Decided to stay 2 days at the Blennerhassett. Wonderful Jr King Suite, was just beautiful. The food and drinks in the bar and restaurant was amazing. Everyone was wonderful, great staff!! I will definitely stay my next trip up north. I would highly recommend even locals to stay at the Blennerhassett and experience the top notch service they give. Room was clean, nicely decorated and spacious.

My daughter is a sensitive with spirits. Had a few experiences with our group. We stayed in room 220, and one of he equipment tools called an ovilus, (speak and spell for paranormal) it said "we are outside watching"!!!! In the Kennedy room we heard something tap the little round marble table. In the Marie Antoinette, I personally smelled smoke like in a fireplace. We can't wait to come back. • M9089AEsharonb (2/5): BAD experience! - I have stated at this property for the past several years when I go home for family reunions. We love sitting outside and eating but they scheduled a local event and we couldn’t sit out there. Also breakfast doesn’t open till 9:00/9:30 so for us early birds, not an option. Last year was horrible and I swore I would never come back. However, I tried again. Had to change rooms because it was noisy by road abs window was shut it wouldn’t shut all the way. Breakfast still doesn’t open until too late. Again they had a local 4th of July event in the court yard and we were told we couldn’t sit there until we paid 50.00 per person (me and a 8 year old). After several talks, they said they could put an X on our hands so staff knows we are not allowed to eat. And we weren’t allowed to sit at a table, had to be at fire pit. Hotel has parking area for guest and gives us flyer for parking to out into window but all of the locals parked there and then there was no room for the guests so we had to park down the street on the road. On Sunday , we tried brunch prior to leaving, after we ordered we waited 1 and 1/2 hr for our food and had to leave so didn’t eat. (Was told there was only 1 cook is what took so long). It’s a shame. Beautiful hotel but locals come before guests (and yes, they probably make more money from local events). And cost me 940.00 for 4 nights for one adult and one child. I won’t try it again.
• Ripley (2/5): Over rated with very poor management - Asked if there was a guest laundry available and the checkin clerk offerred to have the laudry done for us. Took our laundry, said it would be done when we woke in the morning and suggested having dinner at their over-priced, mediocre restaurant.In the morning, the laundry was right where I had left it and was informed that it would not be done before checkout. I can understand mistakes being made, but whole reason for the poor rating is that when I asked to discuss the situation with a manager, they left me waiting in the lobby, ignored and refused my request.
• michael (8/5): - Nice quaint hotel with a lot of history but lacking a few little things that would have made this a five. There were no amenities in the bathroom other than soap and shampoo. A couple of Q-tips might’ve been helpful. There was a coffee maker but no bottled water was provided and we had to buy water from the front desk.

We found restaurants nearby and there is a great one in the hotel. Our bed was comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay!
• CARRIE (10/5): - The property was absolutely beautiful 😍. The staff were great, specifically Gary, in the lounge/bar area, and Marissa and Alaina, the night desk ladies. Gary continously made us feel welcomed, making sure we were taken care of during our dining times, and even spoke with us a bit on our last evening. Marissa spoke in length with us about the history and paranormal experiences as well as Alaina. They truly embraced the "Customer First" practice. Definitely will recommend and visit again.

• UUNetBill (6/5): Still a viable option but not what it once was - I've stayed here many times in the past and have usually had a good experience. This last trip, however, has me rethinking my accommodations next time I'm in town. For reference, my last stay there was in September of 2024. Something has shifted between then and now. Some things are the hotel's fault, some aren't...but it's noticeable enough to get me looking at other places. The good: It's still a beautiful old building, and there's quite a bit of charm there. It's easy to get to, but parking can be tight. Desk clerks were friendly, and best of all, the shelter dog (Mittens) got adopted! The not so good: Be aware that Parkersburg now seems to close between 8 or 9 every night. Stores, restaurants, cafes, etc. are all hit or miss. There aren't many dining/shopping options within walking distance. While the desk staff did a good job, I can't say the same for the F&B gang. Sitting outside by the firepit with a drink, our waiter came by after about 10 minutes and asked if we'd like anything, maybe some ice water? We said "Awesome, that sounds great!" and we never saw him again. After 45 minutes or so we moved inside to the bar, and the bartender was marginally competent. The couple next to us had been waiting over an hour for their food. We ordered a charcuterie board that while pretty decent, didn't include the items listed on the menu - and it took a good 25 minutes to arrive. Most of the restaurant and bar staff seemed to be moving in slow motion and didn't seem to care about the delays in service. Our biggest concern was with the room itself. Although in good condition, it was advertised as a 'Double Queen Room' - but the beds were Full size at best, definitely NOT queens. After a bit of investigating, we found that the 'Double Queen Rooms' on the second and third floors actually have queen beds, but rooms on four and five have the smaller beds - at the same room rate. Of course, the hotel was full for an event so we couldn't relocate. I don't know about you, but I kind of bristle when I have to pay the same rate for a lesser product - and billing a room as having queen beds and NOT having queen beds is just plain wrong. So be aware of that. Also, our room didn't have a fridge. You can request one, so if you need one I'd recommend asking for it before you arrive so it can be cooled down for you. Bottom line: I'd rate the hotel as a 4-ish facility (for a 3-star hotel, that is) with a 2 for service. Set your expectations accordingly and you probably won't be disappointed. And if you really want queen beds in your queen room, be sure to specify floor 2 or 3. Don't get suckered like I did and pay for queens and not get them.

Even though the room was a little hot when when first got there due to the high temperatures and being on the top floor, the hotel brought in additional portable A/C to fix the problem and it worked great. I love this hotel because the staff is awesome and the food is fabulous. A great place to relax and treat yourself and family.

• Kelly (8/5): - This is a beautiful boutique hotel with the prettiest courtyard and dining areas and full of history and charm. My biggest issue was check in. They couldn't find my reservation even with my confirmation, then found that it had been moved (for what reason no one knows or could figure it out) to under my daughter in law's name. It stayed that way for the duration of the stay and led to some confusion with checking out, random charges and so on. To their credit, they did upgrade our room for the inconvenience. It was just a frustrating experience after having a long day of travel.

Our dinners were delicious and beautifully presented. Our waiter was very attentive to our needs. Our suite was beautiful and our mattress was the extremely comfortable. We would definitely stay here again if in Parkersburg.

Our king bed was super comfy, the bathroom was huge, there was a comfortable sofa & good desk to use. Suite came with a mini frig & microwave too. Will stay here again next time in town, it’s the best place to stay in Parkersburg!

Otherwise the water stayed hot in the room and it was very spacious and clean. Loved the robes in the room, great! The evening concierge was sweet and helpful too.
• Cynthia (10/5): - Beautiful building. Staff was superb and incredibly kind. Not as busy downtown as we imagined, but this is likely due to visiting before summer festivities get started. Bathroom is updated and absolutely wonderful; robes are sublime. Dog friendly and area is walkable. Area feels safe for walking.
• Desmond (10/5): Honeymoon Stay - The Blennerhassett hotel was the first leg of our honeymoon. The service was top notch, and the dining experience was great. Loved the room as well. Would highly recommend this hotel to others and hope to go back there someday.
