Guest Reviews
- Sheila (5/5): Love the theme, apparently zero management of rowdy guests and seems to attract unsavory types who don’t respect fellow - Fun and funky. Cute, tiny room. Neighbor in next room sang loudly for hours from 1am to 3am, playing music at top volume. Coffee wasn’t available until 7 and no way to make your own. Lots of drunks.
- Robyn (9/5): - The thing about staying at a McMenimans Property is that you have to be adventurous and willing to "step back in time". You may end up sharing a bathroom down the hall, and dealing with a little rust or noise. It's not modernized on purpose. The staff was great and the tour through history PRICELESS!
- SH (8/5): -
- Kolea (1/5): Couldn't sleep, coild hear the downstairs and some kind of fan all night. - The building is nice. VERY NOISY.
- Ginny (10/5): -
- Sonia (9/5): - The location to the reunion.

- Merle (10/5): Everything went really well. My room was nice. The staff was nice. They always had coffee in the lounge by 7 AM like the - The restaurant was great good food and I really enjoyed the theater movie. The staff was great. It was good

- Sandy (10/5): Fun night! -
- Daniel (9/5): This is a unique and funky boutique hotel with a storied history. - This is a unique and funky boutique hotel with a storied history. It’s worth a visit. We have stayed there multiple times. It’s a good value and the staff is always friendly. N/A
- David (10/5): -
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Nice location in town. Lots of street parking. Food and movie at the attached club was great.
- Andrew (9/5): Cool historic hotel - Unique historical accomodations, clean upscale linens Toilet in one of the showers was stopped up.
- Teresa (7/5): Value - Location, antique shops Windows in our room.
- Justice (10/5): - I appreciate the historical integrity of the hotel, particularly how much of its original character has been preserved. The restaurant is amazing. Great food and great service. I found everything to be satisfactory.
- Scott (8/5): - The authentic feel of an older era. All good.
- Colin (8/5): -
- Linda (8/5): Unique atmosphere, cool town to visit, easy Amtrak access, would stay again - Very cool place, location was great, restaurant, cafe, bar, movie theater and hotel wrapped into one. It is close to train station so you will hear trains. They give you ear plugs if you need them
- Cam (8/5): -
- Robin (10/5): - Such a unique experience. Stepping back into time with the style. Would recommend to anyone
- Patrick (9/5): Great road trip stop - Location to all downtown services and easy freeway access. Sound of trains during the night.
- eva (10/5): - I think the location is perfect. Plenty street parking and a lot around corner. I take train to Portland for the day occasionally from hotel and it's right there for me.
Would like to suggest in our shared bathrooms that bath Matt's be provided. The trains blowing their whistles . Hard to sleep even with ear plugs.
- Hilary (8/5): - Receptionist, wait staff, food, and rooms were great! Loudness of trains even with earplugs, but we were warned about it
- Marcey (9/5): -
- Tyler (10/5): - mcmenamins is always super fun! Basic SRO style rooms , but very comfortable beds and linens.
Like usual, this is a bit different from the usual hotel room - the facilities are great and the amenities far more comfortable than you’d think for the price , but if you want the average motel experience keep looking.
Vintage touches galore., modern AC / hvac, no direct controls. Wifi limited. Mcmenamins restaurants are technically next door , meaning you will ever so briefly exit to street , so no breakfast in your slippers , but also fun.
Trains are VERY close - for me that’s a feature not a bug but if you’re sensitive to sound , bring noise cancellation .
pre-ADA means steep stairs , and you’ll need two hands to manipulate a physical door key for a bolt and separate handle - not a problem for me either but be aware !
Cozy restaurant next door with firepit outside and wood burning stove inside , fun vintage cinema theater experience included ; main street area close to all the shops bars restaurants that old downtown centralia has to offer - again small but hopefully if you book this you’re going on purpose for the experience!
I’ll return.
- Carrie (10/5): - Be prepared for stairs, and creaky floors. That's to be expected with a historical building like this hotel.
- Sally J (8/5): - Charming decor, friendly responsive staff, clean and comfortable in the dining area, bar, pool hall, movie room and bedroom/showers. The coffee/water table upstairs in the bedroom area could be serviced more frequently, with more tea bags, hot water and coffee. The bed linens, specifically pillowcases, were clean but the pillows themselves needed freshening or replacing.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Charming stay - Comfy and full of character! I mean, a shared bathroom is what it is, but the restrooms were never booked when I wanted to use them and I love this local-chain family of hotels. 10/10 would stay again. Location can't be beat for a stay in Centralia.
- Doug (7/5): -
- Lori (8/5): -
- Keith Freeman (10/5): - Everything was great except the men's bathroom in the bar . The old urinals stink. I mean bad. Worse than any porta potty, i've been in . Other than that, it's a nice hotel and I do recommend it
- Pretrina (8/5): -
- Paul Leggett (10/5): - The servers and staff were all so friendly! The drinks and food were amazing and the hotel and Bar were so fun we will definitely be back we even bought a passport for all of their hotels!
- Dena (5/5): -
- David (3/5): Why do people pay so much for this place? - I can appreciate all the history and the "oh look, it's like I'm staying in a 1910s flophouse!" vibe, but...
I would've been more comfortable at the local Motel6. Floors and walls seem to be all original (meaning the walls are thin and the hall speaks when anyone walks down it).
Shared bathrooms that always seemed to be occupied.
Freight train running all night.
Can hear every door slamming shut. Can hear the theater and bar downstairs.
On top of all that, WiFi was unusably slow.
- mary (6/5): It was OK. - Location good. Beds were comfortable.. Sink in room. No window. No bathroom in room. It was not enough for the money, which was not outrageous but I thought it was high. High high stairs. No window. No private bath.
- Judith (10/5): - Loved central location, historical vibe.
There was train noise but it didn't bother me.
Bathroom down the hallway.
Very clean shower too.
If you like funky& unusual, this is for you.
- Traci (8/5): Very good -
- Charlene (10/5): - This place is special!! Clean and everything isxwithin walking distance and the staff werecharming!!
Highly recommend this little Oasis!!
- Gannon (7/5): Nice place to stop and rest during your travels with good vibes. - Niche property. With a cool vibe. Hours of front desk are not very long make sure you check in before they close.
- John (9/5): As sure as the beer is cold, time at Mcmenamins never gets old - Excellent breakfast with great service in a little nook by the snooker tables Beds are decent, but a king over a queen bed would be a great option . . . the rooms are small, but we'd give up floor space for more bed space
- C601DMbobh (10/5): Olympic Hotel - fun pub scene with a hotel and movie theater Hotel rooms are small but cozy. Interesting history to the hotel Recommend the food and on occasion they have music
- Brad (9/5): Superb -
- Hope (10/5): Exceptional -
- Forney (8/5): Very good -
- LEAH (10/5): - Very clean. Easy to walk about the little town.
- Amanda (4/5): A lower end McMenamins property. - The restaurant space had potential. The room, the noise, it felt rundown. A homeless woman was bathing in the bathroom sink of the restaurant while I was there to eat dinner.
- Robert (7/5): Good place to stay. Small simple room, no crowds. - Location is awesome. Atmosphere of older places is a nice change of pace. Rooms are a bit small, and loud, but this comes with the historic vibe of the place.
- Joe (10/5): - Staff was amazing! I'm a 64 year old veteran and every single staff member took time to talk to me and even laugh at my bad jokes, food excellent James the bartender outstanding thank you all and see youin August
- Matt (8/5): Unique piece of turn of the century history - A very unique experience. The room had two bunk beds and a shared bathroom, which was fine. The real coolness comes from the theatre, bar and pool hall that are all attached. This place has a lot of history as well! The beds were small but we knew that
- Drtemple (9/5): It was a different and good experience. -
- Kanstantsin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Glenda (8/5): - Unique place unfortunately the movie theatre was not showing a movie during my stay which is one of the main reasons to stay there after a long day driving.
- Kevin (6/5): - It was so so.
- P (10/5): Safe stay at McMenamins - The staff was very informative and kind to speak with. The room was cozy and the bathroom was clean. I don't think there was AC in the room so it was a bit warm. Also I didn't see an elevator but I didn't walk around to look for one either.
- David (10/5): Olympic Club Hotel and Restaurant - It’s an old historic building. Very cool if you’re interested in that kind of thing. It does have creaky old wooden floors in spots but not too bad. The rooms are furnished with antique furniture and lamps which I really like. That’s one of the reasons I come back. While it has been remodeled, don’t expect perfection. The building is old. The rooms have a sink but no bathroom. There are several nice private bathrooms in the hallways to use.
The restaurant is great. Again in a very cool old building with some original furnishings and a beautiful old bar with stained glass light fixtures. The restaurant also has a movie theatre. You get free movie admission if you stay in the hotel.
The only negative thing I can say is there are train tracks a block or two behind the building. Trains run several times during the night blowing their horns. I already knew this from staying here before. The hotel provides earplugs which really help. Be sure to visit the hotel’s page for more details.
- Sumiko (7/5): Good -
- Steve (10/5): - location and history
- Greg (8/5): Very good -
- JANDEVETTE (10/5): - Feeling adventurous my husband and i stayed in a twin bunkbed rm 16,Charlamagne room. It was comfortable and had everything we needed for a single Saturday night stay. Clean bathrooms were conviently close and as were the exits. They offered coffee, tea and water and one could just drop the room key in a box to check out. We even checked in by text.
The service was inviting and top notch. Highly recommend.
- Stacey (7/5): Don’t expect much - The history and the building. Walkable distance to most things downtown. Staff didn’t seem to like their jobs.. not very friendly. Had to go find someone in the bar/ restaurant part yo check out..
Went to eat dinner there and were told to sit anywhere empty and we did, and were told to move by a rude staff member who said it’s for the people playing pool.. no one was sitting there.
- Dena (10/5): Exceptional - Always enjoy my stay.
- kerenah2022 (10/5): Very Highly Recommended - #1 VERY comfy bedding and pillows!
#2 Lots of fluffy towels and bathrobe!
#3 Yes, you share a bathroom European or hostel style; but the bathrooms were very clean and there were plenty of them!
#4 Interesting murals, photos, quotes and decor EVERYWHERE - even in the bathrooms!!! The front desk has info sheets on the origins of the names of the rooms and some hotel history; a recommended read!
#5 If you stay on the side closest to the rail tracks, the Amtrak station is literally directly behind you. It's easy to catch your train from here.
#6 A piece of advice: USE THE BACK STAIRS. They aren't as intense as the front ones. The back hotel door is right next to the door to enter the pub.
#7 Before you complain about the noise, be sure you read the info that you were provided on their website! You have no excuses to not be informed in this case.
#8 The staff couldn't be more helpful and friendlier! Made me as a solo traveler feel very safe.
#9 The locks on both entry doors and the doors to the rooms are sturdy - you'll definitely feel secure.
#10 You are within easy walking distance of multiple restaurants, a nice college campus, cozy boutiques, large antique malls, a nice local park...and I highly recommend walking around and seeing the lovely murals on the sides of the buildings.
#11 Lest I forget, morning coffee and hot water available for tea every morning, as well as free local newspapers!
- Jennifer (9/5): This was a great hotel and I would stay again! - Checking in was easy and friendly. Our room was cute and clean. Bathrooms were clean and ours was right across the hall. I loved the coffee station being a few feet away from my door! My only issue was very minor and maybe a "me " thing😊 the room got very hot sometimes and I couldn't open the window all the way
- Rondi (8/5): Better than a regular hotel experience. - If you like an interesting historical place to stay at a very reasonable price this is it.
- Maryanne (10/5): Olympic Club is a GEM! - This hotel is a gem! I have stayed here many times over the years and absolutely love it. It is always spotlessly clean & cozy. And the food & beer are yummy!
- Jeffrey (10/5): - its McMenamins what more do you need. Grew up with the founders many years ago. Kudos
- Walton (9/5): Superb -
- Maryanne (10/5): I Love Staying at Olympic Club! - I have stayed at this lovely hotel many times over the years and absolutely love it! The rooms are great, the food & beer are excellent. Everyone is friendly, helpful & professional. I highly recommend it!
- Jerry (9/5): Superb - I loved the historic accomodations. They only have staff to check you in until 9pm
- Michael (7/5): Basic but fun - Aesthetic of place Spartan super basic rooms.
Fun atmosphere
Food ok value dor happy hour menu prices not general prices
- Valerie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Howard (10/5): Unique Stay in Centralia - Love the McMenamins chain. They are consistently great and not the run of the mill chains. Olympic Club is great if you love trains! Great viewing. The area is very walkable with good food and drink.
- Mcrae (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alicia (10/5): Exceptional - Close to train station. Quaint town center. Great hotel
- Bonbon (6/5): We had fun, price and location were right AND we did not sleep a wink because of noise. - All really good: Game room, staff, ambiance, complimentary coffee/tea, bathroom cleanliness, location, price. Very loud kitchen noise (banging pots and pans, loud voices and music). The only quiet hours for kitchen were about 2AM to 6AM. The train noise was also significant and happened several times throughout the night. There were a few other less-than-ideal aspects to our stay but the noise was the thing that would prevent us from coming back. I couldn’t sleep a wink and I usually don’t have trouble sleeping (and used to work on noisy ships).
- Kenneth (8/5): Fun time. - Location and the Olympic Club is a great place to hang out. The old wood-stove is the heart of this classic venue. The bunk bed didn’t have a ladder. Had to climb up the end of the bed which is awkward and hard on the feet.
- Silas (9/5): Superb -
- David (10/5): - We've stayed at several of your hotels and always find them clean with good restaurants and a quirky environment.
- Douglas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Schuyler (6/5): Priced right - Neat history, not so great accommodations
- Judith (10/5): Return visit exceeded expectations for a weary traveler - Despite being next to the train station, it was very quiet at night. It’s also centrally located to shops and restaurants. Free parking! And of course, great beer and food. It’s an old building so no elevator. Don’t try to take a big suitcase upstairs!
- Sherri (9/5): Lots of fun. - Very friendly, unique, nice restaurant.
- Mandy (8/5): I would stay here again, there are lots of bathrooms - The movie theater and location The rooms were small
- Debbie (9/5): Wonderful place for dinner anda show - The movie
- Simon (9/5): Great historic hotel 🏨 - Spent a lovely evening watching a movie in their theater (check out the porcelain in the gents there!) and then grabbing a freshly cooked pizza and hard cider in the restaurant. The room was fine and the shared bathrooms were good too, bearing in mind that the building is old and historic! Though it didn't bother us, the train klaxon at the close-by station is pretty loud -- there are earplugs in the bedside drawer if you want.
- Dena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heather (10/5): - Always fun at a McMenamins
- TacomaKid (10/5): Such a great hotel, here are some tips to cut down on train noise - I love this place. It’s so unique and centrally located, there’s so much to do both in this hotel and on the great historic street. As long as you’re out there on the days where things are open.
Everyone else focuses on the amenities so I’m just going to focus on noise. My wife is a light sleeper and loves this hotel. But we’re careful about which rooms we pick. If you’re looking into minimize the train, I the king rooms which are located upfront or alternatively one of the twin bunk rooms. That way you’ll hear less noise from the train. You can also call the hotel and request a queen room without a window but instead with a skylight. Those cut down on the noise too but you will need to call the hotel to reserve that room, otherwise you’ll get thrown into a random queen room.
I prefer being in a king room over the theater because once the movie is over it’s the quietest place in the hotel. But if you go to bed before 10:30 PM and don’t want to hear the movie then maybe it’s not for you. But if you plan on seeing that movie or if you stay up after the movies over, 100% love it, it’s where my wife likes to stay.
The twin bunk rooms are a bit darker than the king because there’s no wall windows but they do have a skylight window. My 13yo nephew loved it. One of the twin bunk rooms does not have a sink so if you’re staying in a twin room bunk room make sure you’ve got one with a sink. The only rooms that I think are really off the list are the queen rooms facing the railroad tracks (and a few back ) because it’s so darn loud when that train goes by. But if you stay in a queen room with a window the train is going to be louder than staying in either a king room or the twin room.
And yes, I there are some queen room skylight windows only so that’ll dampen the train noise. And a foam earplugs are not your thing, bring something that works for you.
- Hockensmith (10/5): Halloween 🎃 - Every year I stay here and enjoy the whole town that lights up for the holiday they had live music great venue for shopping and movies and the food is exceptional.
- Cheyenne (7/5): Good -
- Katherine (8/5): Very good -
- Chris (8/5): A taste of history - Historic feel of building with modern touches. Very reasonably priced. Pool tables & restaurant downstairs. Check-in process was a little confusing.
Nice to have a free movie in theater downstairs. But the theater itself seemed grundgy & in need of a clean. Accommodations themselves were really clean.
- Krystal (10/5): A cozy step back in time with plenty of modern amenities. - Cozy cozy and more cozy! This place is beautiful I wish we were staying longer just to soak it all in. We just randomly checked hotels in the area it popped up and I’m so glad we stayed. This building is so historical and the McMenamins really made her shine. Didn’t even mind having a separate bathroom. There are 3 or 4 with full showers and two with just toilets. Very comfortable. They have water and coffee by the stairs. Rooms are beautiful and so cozy. Now we are about to grab breakfast downstairs. Love this place. Nothing I loved all of it. I’d definitely stay again.
- Alice (10/5): Delightfully quirky - Super clean. Friendly staff. Bunk beds were comfortable & passing trains weren’t a bother, but the noise trickling up from the kitchen could (occasionally) be obtrusive. (We were in room 7.) Overall, a wonderful place to stay.
- Shannon (10/5): Staying at the Olympic club was an adventure. It’s a destination unto itself. - Your staff is wonderful and the building is beautiful and such care is taken with expressing the history and the story of the building and what has gone on there all the years. The food was delicious though a little expensive. The hours were fair the patrons were quiet and respectful. The coffee waiting for us in the morning was delicious. I couldn’t have been happier.
