Guest Reviews
- Doreen (6/5): Fawlty Towers - Lift that sometimes didn’t work with the stairs almost impossible for my 85 yr old husband. After some urging we were given another room on level 1 (there is no ground floor.)
On day 2 our code didnt work to access hotel. Rang reception and they promised to ring back with another code. After sitting for some time on the pots on the footpath and hearing nothing back, I rang again and was given the new code.
Reception is just a 24 hr phone call with nobody on site and the little restaurant is closed which is the result of covid staff shortages I'm told, but guests need to be told this. Actually we enjoyed the many offerings on O'Connell Street.
Location of the hotel is superb and the rooms are comfy but there are definitely some improvements needed.
On the occasions we needed to park our car, there were no spots available.
- Michael (8/5): - Convenience to a variety of food outlets. Being able to walk instead of always getting the cat out.
- 497kymb (8/5): overnight stay - No personal contact with staff, car vandalized in car park -not ours, drunk/unconcious man in stairwell. Well appointed room, comfortable bed, very clean, quiet placement, near to eateries. Newly refurbished.
- W382LMkated (10/5): A hidden jem of Adelaide - Our room was clean and had everything we needed. The bed was super comfy and the level of cleanliness was absolutely outstanding.
Especially I would love to thank Paul! We had a long drive from Sydney to Adelaide, we only came for a few hours to get some rest before heading back. Paul was so understanding, professional, he went beyond and above to meet our requests, he demonstrated superb customer service skills. An absolute asset to the company!
Thank you so much for our amazing experience, I will not hesitate to stay here again. Moreover, I will definitely recommend the place to all of my friends.
- Jodie (6/5): - Very clean. Nice rooms. On site car parks very limited. First in basis. Sister motel across road but their carpark full too. Had to park in main road. No reception on site but easy to call and arrange.
- Kristine (8/5): - Location was great . Didn’t see any staff at all. Parking was limited and would have been great if we were notified prior to our arrival at 9pm. But 24 hour reception was available and helpful. No utensils in the room except tea spoons . Tv was too small for the size of the room ,
- Nureus_17 (10/5): 3 night stay - The hotel is awesome. We loved the fact that the check in process was so easy. We like the fact that it’s with a code to check in so no stress about losing hotel cards or keys. The carpark was so close to the elevator which was awesome. The room has everything you need and we loved the large shower.
The bed was super super comfy. And hooray a Hotel that leaves you plenty of towels. The staff are super friendly and the cleaning ladies were too. We loved that we were so close to the city and that we also could leave the car at the Hotel and stroll up O’Connell street for a bite to eat with many restaurants and cafes. We will definitely be back.
- Kristen (10/5): - Very tight and very limited parking and entry and exit awkward to navigate
- Lynda (10/5): - Nice and clean
- ian (8/5): - The property is ideally located for access to o,connell st and its many bars and restaurants
- Robert (10/5): - I assume due to covid, but during our stay communication was by text, and we didn't see any staff, this may sound impersonal, but under these conditions, it was very easy to check in, and leave with the minimal of fuss, whilst still enjoying a very comfortable clean room.
- Lyn (8/5): - The property was central to all facilities we needed during our stay. The second floor EK suite had beautiful parkland views. The room had a window that could be opened to allow a flow of fresh air. The K bed was so comfortable - home away from home. Free bottles of water were appreciated after a long day of travel.
- N1734KSsimonc (10/5): Brilliant location, quality and service.. stay here.. - Great place.. easy to access and smooth contactless checkin process.. rooms were very clean and we had a fantastic response when reporting a minor issue with a flickering light.. really pleasant to deal with.. pricing was also very good for this part of the city so close to everything.. loved the stay..
- Donna (10/5): - Loved the contactless check in and the free parking
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean room with plenty of space. Check-in was straightforward, although it would've been nice to see a staff member! Very convenient location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Position
- Christopher (8/5): Good overnighter - Very spacious and accomodating, good service, and inclusions, good location, a little traffic-noisy, only other problem is not much parking available on-site
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very comfortable
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Easy to check in
- Anne (8/5): Convenient and comfortable. - Room was generous and comfortable. Location great, value good.Free on-site parking.
My booking was made quite late for an after hours arrival.
I started to chase up not receiving check in code with hotels.com a half an hour before arrival without success by the time we arrived.unable to speak with real person.Frustrating!Found a contact phone number to managers at one of the entry doors at property and was quickly resolved by friendly helpful staff. Recommend book direct with property.everything else was great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Property was clean, comfortable anc in a great location
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed for 2 nights. The location was perfect for what we required. Close to the CBD, restaurants, Cafes, Adelaide oval and parklands. We liked the clean, quiet rooms. The person on the from desk was helpful and willing go to extra lengths to make our stay memorable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean, easily accessible, comfortable. Parking a little cramped.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - b
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Seamless checkin and good quality for money
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was in need of a little repair in places
- Verified traveler (10/5): - easy access to nth Adel and the city the staff were very good
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Not enough parking . What is available ,is very tight.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Basic service with no reception checkin and no other amenities. Rooms a good size, clean and nice recently renovated bathroom. Good value for money. Fantastic location
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Service at reception, always good and receptive of my needs.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location and nice comfortable king bed. We will stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A very clean, comfortable and quiet property. All the amenities we needed. Very comfortable beds. Newly renovated bathroom which was very well appointed. Easy to access the room given there are no staff on site. A very safe property too. Close to cafes and restaurants. Very pleased with our stay and will certainly be back again.
- Paul (10/5): Nice Quiet Hidden Gem - Nice hidden away place... free parking, contactless check-in via email and door PIN..
Room was comfortable and clean and ammenities were perfect...
Would stay again...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Spacious room, comfortable bed, great position, near eating precinct, easy walk to the city. Man at the desk very helpful. Would certainly recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is in a great location. A gem that has great restaurants near and easy access to Adelaide on public transport.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A good clean room in an excellent location close to facilities.
Large rooms, comfy beds and it was very quiet.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great Location, friendly staff close to good restaurants.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - No key cards to worry about. The complementary water was a big hit
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was nice, clean and comfortable bed. Access to the property is Reception free. We should have received a sms prior to arrival with door keypad codes etc. These had not arrived but we were able to ring and get them. Big negative was the shower (room 111). No pressure and not even luke warm. Whilst location and room presentation was good the shower would prevent me from staying again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean and comfortable accommodation in a handy location. Walking distance to great cafes.
- DavidCarolyn1988 (8/5): Short Stay, but will stay again. - Good value for money in an area full of cafes and restaurants. Although there is a busy road at the front of the property, the noise is quite subdued. The bathrooms are quite new and the airconditioning works well. Limited parking available.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Location is excellent. Free parking is always a bonus, although a very tight car park.
Unfortunately no hot water for a shower on the evening of arrival. Next morning only enough hot water for one of us to have a shower. Very disappointing.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - NO HOT WATER AND NO STAFF TO HELP, THEY HAVE TAKE THE COVID THING TO THE EXTREAME
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Other guests banging doors until midnight and the noise from the laundry until late
- Christopher (8/5): - Bathroom was modern and the proximity to cafes is great. You do get the sound of aircraft flying overhead occasionally though.
- Julie (10/5): - Great location close to cafes and restaurants. Within walking distance to CBD. Very clean with comfortable beds. Highly recommend.
- Ian and Linda (8/5): - HAVE STAYED AT THE QUALITY INN A NUMBER OF TIMES. WE FIND IT CONVENIENT FOR MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS, CAFES, PICTURES AND SHOPPING.
- Jenna (10/5): Super impressed for the price. - Really impressed by the facilities at The Quality Inn O'Connell. We stayed due to a hospital appointment so it is conveniently located close to Womens and Childrens Hospital. Easy access in and out, great parking even for a bigger vehicle. Very comfortable bed
- Magdalena50 (10/5): Quiet, Clean, Great Location - Stayed on a Saturday night after booking online with Booking.com. Easy drive from country SA. Nice parking space behind building. Received a text Msg at 2pm with code to enter the premises (due to Covid, no staff on premises). Few minutes later another Txt with instructions how to get to my allocated room with another code to enter. Room was large, clean and has windows that open to a closed courtyard, with block out curtains. Able to adjust air conditioning. Perfect soft queen bed, a few side tables, fridge, kettle, etc. Clear reception from TV. Clean bathroom with large walk in shower. Great night sleep, as no noise from street or other guests. Bus stop across the road to get into town. Coffee shops and restaurants all in walking distance. Taxi ride back from East Tce costs $15 on the Sunday. Will certainly stay here again when in Adelaide.
- Marcia (8/5): Comfortable Quiet Clean - The room was spacious, comfortable, quiet and clean. Contactless check in was easy with a text sent to me with door codes. Convenient location with many eateries close by.
- Harold (8/5): - Good service despite invisible staff. Easy check in once you work out how it’s done
- Ox (8/5): - The bed was so comfortable.
Road noise was a bit annoying, but nothing too bad.
First hotel I’ve ever stayed at where there is no staff on site. No worries with it at all, just different.
Will definitely be back.
- MarkFlintoff (10/5): Nice quiet rooms - Had a great stay was given a inside courtyard room which was great because there was no street noise, beautifully renovated bathrooms with great water pressure from the rain shower Head. Very comfortable new king coil bed excellent service from the reception team and nicely located short distance to supermarket and some great restaurants, Indian, Thai, Italian and more, will definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great value for money and location.

- Denise4554 (10/5): Could not fault - will always recommend ! - Location in North Adelaide was perfect with many restaurants in walking distance AND a free bus into the CBD a few blocks away
We went for the much larger King bed room which was perfect - so much space and the biggest walk in shower - it was terrific !
Reception was professional and always helpful
Decor a little tired but the room was very clean and neat and we were very happy - thanks guys for a wonderful stay !
- Christina (8/5): Comfortable stay - Great room with big beds that were comfy. Everything you needed
- Angela (8/5): - The room was a good size. Shower great. Beds comfy. Daily room service excellent. Outdoor courtyard a bonus. Age of building had some drawbacks. Sticky windows. Water issues with a pipe but overall a very comfortable stay in a handy location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great price - quiet - comfortable bed - good location - close restaurants
- Shaz (8/5): - Excellent location. Facilities all great and great value for price
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to all services & good restaurants.....free parking
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very clean. Older property but fairly priced. Great location with plenty of cafes restaurants right out the door.
- N7422RXdaveh (2/5): Reality v Online Profile - This is one of those hotels that looks great online and rubbish in reality.
The hotel has a complicated 2 code check in, the room is old and is in desperate need of an upgrade, the sofa feels dirty and is badly marked... yuk
Forget this place, many other options in the same area
- Linda (8/5): - Convenient for when we have to visit Adelaide. Plenty of places to eat for visiting family and friends and to any medical appointments we have to attend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Quiet and clean close to all attractions within easy walking distance.
- Bill (4/5): - Check in closed at 4pm. Their site said 8pm. The after hours nimber that you were to call was boice mail. Very frustrating. Not enough parking
- Stoniern (10/5): Everything was AMAZING - Lovely comfortable bed. Large clean modern room. Bathroom and shower are large and modern. The Latest security pin code entry to building and room. Divine breakfast coffee. And reception was full of information on the area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent twin room. Would like a microwave. Beds were top quality.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice bed and blockout curtains. Excellent car park. Convenient location.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The collection box was easy for the keys, and easy parking spaces.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location, surprisingly quiet & value for money.
- hookster73 (8/5): First time stay, great value for money - Very easy to book, & follow up booking email & text msgs with all the info was great, close location to Adelaide Oval & the city, very clean & tidy room, off street parking was also good, will definitely stay again
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It was very pleasant to walk in to a cool room when its 43 outside
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean, spacious room. Lift to second floor.
Very comfy bed, good aircon.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very big room, modern and renovated through out, large shower. Location is perfect with restaurants and bars near by and a lovely Rea to walk around. Free parking also. I will be back for sure.
- Jonathan (8/5): - My friend and I have enjoyed our stay at O'Connell Inn, we appreciated that you have upgraded our room to executive suite with double queen bed.
When we arrived, our room's air conditioning was on, much appreciated as it was a hot night.
The room was clean and nice. Great facility inside the room.
On our third day, unfortunately our room was not cleaned and there was a sign in the door to say "Do not Disturb" we didn't leave the sign on the door, we weren't sure who put the sign there.
The number of car parking in the property is less than the number of rooms in the property. You will have interstate guests with their cars and tourists hiring cars that would love to park in the property for convenience and security. I suggest to allow car parking from the entrance applicable for guest arriving after 10 PM. We find that after 9 PM we couldn't get a car park so we parked at the Hammond Apartment's Car Parking which was thankfully acceptable.
Overall we enjoyed our stay.
I'll definitely consider staying with you again when visiting Adelaide.
- Tanya (8/5): - It's in a very convenient location. Room has been renovated - clean and tidy.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Stay away from this hotel - Location was really bad. It takes about an hour to get to the center. Hotel rooms are extremely dirty. Stains on the walls, carpet, curtains. The safety lock on the door was broken. Broken tiles and bathroom. The reception was closed most of time. The receptionist when she was there was rude and unhelpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Affordable, with great location!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- 4x4wheelers (10/5): First time stay. Good value for money - Our first time at this Motel and we were surprised ! There is no reception it has to be done via Internet or their other motel close by, entrance to motel and rooms is done via a number code system.
The room was freshly renovated with a very comfortable bed and hardly any noise from the street. Had a good nights rest and worth the value paid.
- Netty (8/5): - I liked the location. Very convenient and central.
Property is looking very tired. Just a paint job (get rid of all the grey walls and doors) would make a massive difference.
Loved the new bathroom. Again spoiled by a daggy, scratched door.
TV wires were all hanging down the back of the TV, and as I was leaving realised that the aerial was not plugged in. Explaining why I was unable to get any channels bar one while I was there. Bit annoying.
I would stay again, as it is reasonably priced most of the time, and is a very convenient place to stay.
Can't comment on staff as I didn't really see anyone. Just due to my arriving late and leaving early.
- Kathryn (6/5): - Know meet and greet
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, would have liked a heads up about renos! Lady on phone rather brusk or perhaps you might say efficient.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - nice place to stay will be a lot better once renovations are complete
- Jo (8/5): - I was quite surprised when I turned up at hotel - didn’t look like hotel was operational - windows were whited out- no operational reception -the info of satellite reception wasn’t on booking paperwork and as a woman travelling alone I prefer to stay where there is a reception. Anyway thankfully access to room was easy . Initially I was worried about room as hallways dated and need a paint but I was pleasantly surprised with my allocated room - room was large, very clean , updated bathroom , opening window with lots of natural light so very satisfied
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I liked: Huge room and comfy bed
I didn't like: Confusing check in process, downstairs cafe not open, ultra thin blanket on a very cold night with no spare blankets available.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Room was great. Easy access, quiet, block out curtains were amazing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I was surprised that there was no actual reception to check in. The text with how to get in was my first experience but it was a good one. The Roman was really great.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice stay just needs a bit of tlc, but clean and tidy inside, the outside could do with a spruce up e.g. doors and courtyard.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to everything, bed fabulous, spotless, well presented xx
- westernstar (8/5): - Nice location. Room and bedding in good condition. Refurbished bathroom was a bonus. No body wash or body lotion were provided though.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The decor and that it was neat and functional but not extravagant
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location with restaurants, convenience shops and city buses near by.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - King bed was great and view of the parklands from the window.
