The accommodated us so we didnt have to move rooms which was perfect! No milk was provided, coffes and tea facilities there, but no milk, also our bathroom fan didn't work.

Lachlan (7/5): Great location - insecure security deposit method. - Good location - quiet - nice facilities Staff require you to write down your full credit card details on paper for security (this is insecure, especially since the details were in full view of subsequent guests - I requested another means of security and was able to pay $100 cash - on checkout I was berated for not ‘just doing what everyone else did’ - I confirmed with booking.com that collection of credit card details in this manner is not ok.

Elizabeth (3/5): Wouldn't recommend - I liked being able to hear the birds at night. Linens were clean and fresh We were expected to write down our credit card details on a piece of paper, very insecure, even though we had already booked through booking.com, which give security, the man was very rude to me, although nice to my husband. The room was very untidy, cups and dishes put away dirty, I had to wash everything in the cupboards before using them. Had lip marks, finger prints, coffee and hot chocolate dried onto the inside of mugs food on plates. Shower was rough, not nice. Spa wasn't functioning, and pool was not in good state of repair. The room wasn't ready for us either. Initially we arrived early so didnt mind the room not being ready but when we came back at check in the hotelier came out and was very rude about us being back when he didnt realise I could hear him, and then we had to wait for the room to be finished, for about half an hour or more.

Roger (1/5): Albtraum in Otorohanga - Nichts Ich war überzeugt, dass unser Motel in Picton der unterste Level ist. Hier wurden wir aufgeklärt, dass es noch tiefer geht. Das Otorohanga & Waitomo Motel ist das schlechteste, älteste und schäbigste Motel, das wir in ganz NZ je hatten! Die Einrichtung ist eine reine Zumutung, alles selbst geschreinert (wenn's gut gemächt wäre - super), wir sind schlliesslich nicht mehr in den 1940er Jahren. Die Wasserhahne kalt und heiss sind 40 cm auseinander und fast bündig mit der Wand – nicht zu gebrauchen. Entwerde verbrennt man sich die Hände oder sie gefrieren. Spinnweben und Staub in jedem Zimmer bis hinau unter die Decke. Die Beleuchtung ist miserabel, falls sie überhaut geht. Da kein anderes Motel mehr verfügbar war blieb uns nicht weiter übrig als auszuharren. Keine Empfehlung, nicht mal für meinen Feind.

Pauline (1/5): Extremely disappointing - Nothing This motel is very old and run down and needs a lot of attention. Some lights did not work, the bottom of the bed was ripped and torn. The pool looked terrible and not possible for swimming. All in all very poor quality and extremely disappointing.

We stopped here because it was one of the few places after doing caving at Waitomo Caves so it served the purpose. Compared to other hotels and air BnB’s we stayed at on North Island that were in great locations with many more facilities, this was more expensive for what you get. Not too many other choices around though
Linda (5/5): If you want cheap its ok, - I liked that it is cheap, lots of parking, and our room was serviced while we were out. The Heat pump had been turned off at the meter board, so I froze the first night, there was no spare blankets at all and no electric blankets, so I had to steal blankets off other beds. Floors were dirty and sticky according to our childs dirty socks. No vacuum or broom n shovel in any rooms. Location is noisey with trucks going past which vibrate the rooms.

Lynley (4/5): I don't think that we would stay here again - Owners/managers very pleasant. Very dated accommodation where several things didn't. We couldn't get the air con going, the external light wasn't working, and couldn't find an outside rubbish bin. The pool was very dirty and the surroundings needed tidying up.

Melissa (1/5): I would not stay in or recommend this accommodation - Nothing When we arrived, we found that the rooms were nothing like the pictures on booking.com The rooms where dingy, very cramped and not particularly clean. We did not feel that the rooms were safe or secure. My son couldn't even fit in the shower comfortably and the toilet room was tiny. The fridge was in the middle of the room with a microwave on top of it. We found bread and a lot of bugs in the swimming pool; the so-called change rooms were an unlined room with a dirty sick and a stool and nothing else and the toilet near the pool was also unlined and very dirty. There was a hole in near the driveway that was only covered with some sort of metal sheet, the swing set did not look safe and the room that the spa was in was locked and couldn't be accessed. As we were travelling with 4 smaller children, we decided that we did not want to risk staying at this property. I would not recommend this property at all

Dennis (9/5): - Very friendly and welcoming people was a good rest from Hamilton. We stayed for about 3 nights but you have to be aware of the kitchenette has no sink or cooking facilities. But there are rooms there with kitchens that's the only downside we had when booking but apart from that would definitely recommend if your going to see the caves and glowworms. ☺️ No cooking facilities in our room but there are other rooms with cooking facilities

Alison (3/5): - Clean room and crisp sheets This motel is VERY old and dated. Our room was dark and had a strong musty smell, the carpet was very old. Even some minor cosmetic changes would make a major difference. Our room was not at the same standard as the photos of the rooms online.

Mould and rust in shower with previous guests empty packets left behind

Sue-Anne (7/5): Good value for money for an economical and clean 2 bedroom unit :) - The communal new and clean spa bath was a bonus to relax in, especially after a long drive. The unit we were allocated was one of the original units and likely had light switches and taps which dated back to 1970s but they were all functioning and well-maintained. The owner Michael and his wife were really lovely folks who I could tell put in a lot of effort into maintaining the property. They also built new units and expanded the motel across the road. The outlook of the property was also very peaceful, overlooking bush and hills. No shampoo provided. No smart TV / Netflix option.
Amy (8/5): - The rooms have been beautifully refurbished with lovely modern kitchen and bathroom. The pool needs a little TLC but the private spa pool space and spa were very nice and peaceful. Staff was very friendly. Nice easy to.find location close to central town and dining. The room was very clean but had an odd smell.

Bonita (2/5): Not the best, unfortunately. - Unit 10, 2 bedroom apartment. The man at reception was welcoming, pleasant and very helpful. The nets, drapes and carpet were newish The location was close to the town centre. The apartment was spacious overall, but the bathroom was not. Unit 10. 2 bedroom apartment. The interior was nothing like the photos on this site. Perhaps I got the only unrenovated unit at this Motel? In the main bedroom, the wooden window frame was cracked. I tried to close the window overnight, but the latch just kept popping open, as did one in the kitchen, leaving them unsecured. The 2nd bedroom smelled of mould. Very outdated kitchen cabinetry needs upgrading. So do the toilet and shower facilities, which are housed in a very tiny space. No smoke detectors . Nets, but no drapes or a blind covering the kitchen windows, so no privacy at night.
wayne (9/5): Good location, nice unit. - Location was good, close to town and tourist attractions. Plenty of room, good bed, good view where we were, there's rooms either side of the road, we we on opposite side of check in.

Daisy (10/5): Out of 10 a 4 - Swimming pool as my child enjoyed. Besides that everything was ok The fridge is to small when u have family in two bed apartment. & no back door hook to hold it open so wind don't slam it shut. Had to use chair, so anoring when going in & out the chair was totally in the way. The oven wasn't clean properly no wonder it was foiled up. The sheets were dirty has i looked before use.
