• Lynda (4/5): AVOID NOT A PENTHOUSE DATED AND BETTER OPTIONS AVAILABLE - The location was great. The bed was comfortable. It was nice and bright and spacious The kitchen had all the proper utensils The lobby is shabby. Pay more attention to the other reviews which I unfortunately did not. This is a residential building and the proprietors try to disguise. They impose all these rules before you even arrive and insist that if you do not print off your permit you will not be able to enter the building. There is way to much contact before you arrive bordering on harassment. The photos are not reflective of the accommodation as it is dated. Plus one of the reasons I booked it was for a balcony to smoke on which I discovered upon arrival was prohibited. There is no outside furniture which makes it seem pointless having a balcony. If you are considering booking this accommodation make sure to view other options as you can definitely find somewhere way nicer for a similar price

• Nadia (10/5): Amazing skyline views - The apartment was comfortable with an amazing view over the skyline, which was particularly impressive at night. It was not exactly the same as the photo (which I suspect is a bigger one), but it was pretty amazing. The location was perfect for accessing all sorts of amenities and for tourism. The restaurants were better in the immediate locality than even in the magnificent mile. The host was lovely and very accommodating. The apartment is well equipped with a good kitchen, a large washing machine and an efficient dryer. All of these came in handy as I came to participate in the Chicago marathon. Our penthouse was not a two storey one like in the photo, but it was good. What we found is that it wasn't really ideal for 3 people and one of our friends had to go somewhere else to have privacy of her own room. Although there is a comfy sofa bed, if all members of your party need privacy of their own room, I would not recommend a one bed apparent for more than a couple (or a family) even though it is listed as accommodating up to 4 people. Also, if anyone is travelling by train from the airport, bear in mind that there are two Grand stations. One is on the blue line (the line that goes to the airport) and one is on the red line (almost directly underneath the apartment). It would have been useful to be told in the (otherwise very detailed instructions) that one needs to change at Jackson to the red line to alight at the correct Grand station.

The host paid attention to minor details like dried goods, chargers, cotton buds. It had a washing machine and dryer aswell. The host was very approachable and helpful. • Chris (2/5): Can't recommend - Hello. Our experience was unpleasant because of the owners' conduct, and there are rules or inconveniences that make the stay difficult. If you read other reviews, you will see that the owner seems to make unusual or untruthful statements. When I left a review on google reviews, the owner left a response stating that I didn't try to tip the doorman when checking out. This is false and the owner knew this is false. We told the doorman immediately that we were happy with his service and were happy to give a tip. We don't know why the owner was dishonest about this detail, but it's a weird sign. As for the apartment, there are some inconveniences. The pull-out sofa bed is very uncomfortable and short — my feet dangled off the end, even though I'm only 5'10". The owner responded to us that all pull-out beds are like this, but this isn't true. All other sofabeds we used on our vacation were fine. For an apartment that is $365 a night, this second bed should be a lot better. Secondly, there are a lot of rules to follow. You can't check in unless you printed out a special piece of paper beforehand. If you forget to bring the paper, you can't enter. And the day before checkout, there are many instructions sent by email related to how you must leave the place to avoid a fine. The email states 6 times that checkout is at 10 a.m. There were about 9 other rules to follow in the email before leaving. If you want to store your luggage for a few hours, the owners tell you in a separate email to tip the doorman "very generously." When I asked the owner if she could help coordinate this tip with my credit card or a digital payment, she responded rudely and offered no help. We kept in regular contact with the doorman to make sure he received a tip because he is a nice and helpful guy. But I can't recommend this place.

• Travelling (9/5): Great place in a great location - Great apartment with everything you can ask for. We felt directly at home and enjoyed our one-week stay. The place is centrally located walking distance from grocery stores, shopping malls, the riverside and even Navy Pier (a bit further but still walkable). The 9th floor has a great rooftop pool and a nice gym. I can't think of anything. It was really a great stay. If I ever come back to Chicago I will book again there.

• Alicia (9/5): Really lovely space to venture out and enjoy everything Chicago has to offer :) - Firstly the view was insane. I could actually see world renowned architecture staring back at me. And at night, absolutely stunning! I could sit and watch the inspiring light show Chicago had to offer. I loved that everything you could think of was supplied, from washing powder (smelt amazing) to coffee machine, filters, tea and every spice imaginable. The place was exceptionally clean with fresh flowers places around. Had a lovely welcoming aesthetic and felt like home for the time we stayed. The steer was quite loud even from the 52 floor as Chicago police love to use their sirens. I’d also suggest some block out blinds throughout as opposed to the ones they have.

• Ian (10/5): Absolutely super apartment that I can wholeheartedly recommend. - The apartment (5207) was superb with wonderful views. They were so good that we didn't feel the need to go to the Sears Tower or Chicago 360! It was even more spacious than the photos suggested and was just a super place to stay and entertain our guests. On other reviews I noted a few people being frustrated by the communications and requests from the owners. Upon booking I began to feel the same with several messages being recieved about how to pick up the keys and how to treat the apartment and other apartment rules. Having now stayed at the apartment I can well understand why the owners send these communications. They care very much that the apartment is in tip top condition for you and that you do not experience any difficulties finding it or gaining access. In the end I was most impressed with the thoroughness, helpfullness and timeliness of all of their communications.

Walking distance to Navy pier, Millennium Park, shopping, donuts, and having Jewel O grocery store below was more than convenient. Many delicious restaurants close by Frontera Grill being a highlight. The instructions for arrival, parking, and departure were easy to understand and made for a smooth stay at this beautiful place with superb views. Definitely recommend parking at the Grand as parking around town is at a premium. We will absolutely stay here again on our next visit to the windy city💕🌆
• Udo (1/5): Bad - The promised penthouse was occupied. So we went to annother hotel. Unfortunately we got no money back, even the cleaning deposit. We looked five minutes into the penthouse, saw the dirty Windows and the rotten chair. Be cautios, the flatnumbers and the penthousenumbers are not the same. If you get Penthouse 11 its flatnumber 5, or so.

• David (9/5): Excellent one bed apartment on the 50th floor - The apartment is handily placed, with a CTA underground train stop right outside the door. It's also next to a very expansive supermarket, and there are lots of good restaurants in the immediate area - including an incredible breakfast place: 'Yolk'. The apartment itself was exceptionally clean, and the block seems to have communal cleaners on the go almost constantly. The amenities in the apartment were excellent, and the 9th floor has a great gym, along with pool, library, etc. The view from our 50th floor window was amazing, especially at night. Although a residential block, the concierge guys were very friendly and helpful. The best recommendation I can give it is that, particularly during a day or so of very poor weather, we felt very much at home. A fridge/freezer that sounded like a helicopter was landing. Fortunately we could switch it off overnight without any detriment.
• Krista (10/5): A stunning apartment in the heart of Chicago - Everything about the property was nothing short of superb. A prime location within short walking distance to so many top attractions - Navy Pier, Millenium Park, Art Institute, Magnificent Mile. The view of the city was comparable to that of the Sky Deck/Willis Tower and we could see the Chicago sign. The apartment was clean, spacious and turn-key. There was a train station and grocery stores and lots of restaurants and pubs to enjoy just outside the building. The doorstaff were incredible and lovely. The owners were extremely accommodating and communicative and did everything they could to make it a comfortable stay. The instructions to get to the building and find parking were very comprehensive. Nothing that I didn't like. I see some comments complaining about the deposit but I 100% understand and respect the owners wanting to protect their investment. It's a stunning apartment and a fantastic location and price. There were a lot of instructions provided which might seem like a lot but at the end of the day it made for a seamless arrival and departure. The arrival and departure time is pretty "set" so future guests should take note -- that being said, the owners provided lots of options and alternatives if you needed somewhere to store luggage for a later departure.

This is a very clean, modern apartment on the 50th floor with the view you could not top looking at :) It has everything you need, and even more, with all you need for a short stay, extra toiletries, garbage bags, cleaning supplies in case you need to clean something....even laundry detergent was offered. The bed and beddings are very comfortable and have a nice luxurious feel. A small work desk helped my HB to do his morning work emails, while I drank my coffee on the balcony :) The only thing I missed were some outdoor chairs on the balcony so we can sit down and enjoy is incredible view.

Walking in we immediately felt at home. Not only was the unit incredibly clean, but they have thought of everything! I’ve stayed at other VRBO’s where the unit is basically empty of any necessities. There are spices in the cabinets, cleaning supplies, a fan, humidifier, extra blanket, hangers, tissues, pens and paper, and the list goes on. The doorman was extremely friendly and helpful and the location could not have been better. A short walk to everything and the subway station is literally on the corner.

Being able to have an entire condo with amazing amenities - probably the best in the city of Chicago - and its location is un matched! I was really worried because of the reviews, but please ignore those! This is a high-end condo. Not a hotel. If you want to throw huge parties and trash the place, go somewhere else! It's a sophisticated condo with high standards! This is why it appealed to me. James, Jim, and Jeri-Lou were amazing to deal with. Informative and very insightful. They are very direct and want to keep their condos immaculate and in good standing. I can respect how hard they work to keep their property in perfect shape and to respect the entire building and it's occupants. The condo is super spacious, and the deck is unbelievable! Wake up early and catch the sunrise around 4:45/5am...it's unmatched anywhere else! It's a fully loaded condo with everything you might need! Amenities are out of this world. You won't lack anything here! I already can't wait to go back to Chicago and stay here again! Thank you Jeri-Lou and team for all you helped us with!

The apartment is well-equipped with very well-appointed kitchen and comfortable furniture.

Views from 52nd floor are breathtaking, but what we loved the most was the location. Very close to quite a number of amentities: shopping, restaurants, supermarkets, post office, several bus routes within 2 blocks and the red line right at our door step. Front desk was very welcoming and always happy to assist with requests. The hosts were very kind and responsive to any questions we had. Everything went smoothly, so again, thank you very much. We had to leave ;)

We enjoyed the stay very much, admired the fantastic view, and found everything we needed, while attanding aninternational cancer congress in town. no criticism at all

• Graham (8/5): Comfortable but a lot of strict administration unnecessary. We are not all criminals out on parole - Bed - most comfortable I have experienced. Location great. Views superb. kitchen and all appliances. Doormen were friendly and accommodating. Prompt return of security deposit was appreciated. Protocols and administration by owners. Too many long, wordy emails about rules. regulations, "don't do this, don't do that". And I received about four all-page rulings repeating again what not to do in apt. It was like being a new schoolboy with instructions from head master. I am a well-travelled 76-year old ex diplomat and was surprised at the owner's attitude. Quite unnecessary - one long email setting out the STRICT rules would suffice. Even matters like removing outdoor shoes before entry, no blood or other substances on sheets (including oils !). Made me feel very UNWELCOME. They should not apply all these regulations - I had booked thinking it was a hotel serviced apartment not something independent. All monies had to be paid in advance of arrival. NO admittance before 4.:00pm and out by 10:00am NO LATER. Ridiculous. I am solo, did not use cooker, microwave, dishwasher and left everything clean and tidy. My flight home was not until 9:15pm, so I had to spend from 10:00am until my car at 4:00pm pick-up in limbo. Although the apartment was comfortable, except too cold and warm air blower DID NOT WORK, I found the admin side UNACCEPTABLE. So beware of all these tight regulations before entering into a booking. Otherwise, comfortable place to stay.

• David (10/5): No Better Place for a Stay in Chicago - We stayed on an apartment on the 52nd floor of the GrandPlaza. The apartment was fantastic with great views over Chicago city. It was superbly equipped ,spotlessand well appointed. The apartment provides access to a pool ,gym ,walking track and etc. The apartment had cleaning products and a small supply of goods to get you underway. The beds were very comfortable The apartment is well positioned next to the underground train station.Lots of outstanding eateries nearby. The booking was dealt with by email. Jim and Jeri- Lou sent welcoming email with lots of details. The check in was seamless and we were made very welcome by the concierge. A big thanks to Jim and Jeri- Lou for the use of their apartment.
