Guest Reviews
- Lisa (10/5): Would stay again - Great hotel and location, quiet, lovely staff, free coffee is an added bonus!
- Kar Wing (4/5): - Did not like the fact that everytime you need to get back to the hotel you have to pass by a row of Bars with staff being pushy for you to go inside for a drink.
For the price of the hotel, the room was a bit run down. Also my Expedia status said I would get $117 HK for food & drink and when I asked the hotel front desk said they do not know anything about it and to ask Expedia. Not impressed with that. It’s something that the hotel has arranged as a VIP option and should know about it not for me to ask Expedia
- Joan (10/5): - Right near the Mira shopping mall, and upstairs of all the bars in Knutsford terrace, although there was no noise whatsoever during the night. Only thing was dusty floors but otherwise great stay with good amenities!
- carol (8/5): - Great location but rooms lacked basic inroom dining facilities
- Kevin (10/5): - Excellent service
- Anthony (10/5): - superb location. hotel room is rather large by Hong Kong standard. excellent view of Kowloon from the 21th floor.
- vince (8/5): Nice nice nice! - Was a very nice surprise. Sort of a secret street where people have a good time at night. Extremely convenient.
- Karen (8/5): One night in Hong Kong - It was extremely cold in the room and the thermostat didn’t seem to work, so I just turned it off. Cold most of the night.
The hotel was very hard to find, there should be instructions on the main page of how to get there. There were plenty of bars I had to walk through during there prime time to find the place. A few bouncers were nice enough to navigate us to the small door for the hotel. I was traveling with an 11 year old child.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Only complaint would be loud noises from bars down below. Walking past them and you’ll get flagged down for drink “deals”, some don’t even bother to move, make you walk around them.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fab stay - Large room with everything you needed in a great location. Free drinks and sweets.in the lobby was a great bonus.
- Duane (10/5): - Nice
- Xin (10/5): - Good location
- Ashok (10/5): - I like the super king size bed which is 2.5 meters wide and firm. Very good sleep. Also the bathroom is high class, spacious and shower pressure is very optimal. Feel very refreshed.
- David (10/5): Too spot - Excellent hotel - great location, big room and friendly staff. Great value for money.
- Pak Hang (10/5): - spacious room, good location
- ROBERT ALAN (8/5): - I was shocked upon arrival to find access to the Perkin Hotel was up a severely steep incline and located in a back alley alongside a row of nightclubs and restaurants. Fortunately, however, the guy at the front desk was a big, strong guy and he assisted with all of our luggage. But once we neared the hotel property I was disgusted by the filth, trash, the rats and cockroaches that littered the way to the hotel entrance. The hotel in and of itself was clean, and our room was pleasant enough, with a big, soft, comfortable bed. The main drawback about the room was the loud AC system, which made it difficult to fall and stay asleep. I was also disappointed to learn that there was no onsite restaurant and at one point I needed a spoon but was told that I could not have one, so I had to go down to one just outside the hotel to get one. For the price I paid for this hotel, I expected more and received very little from the staff with exception of the big guy upon my arrival.
- PHILIPPE (8/5): - Don't expect anything more than a cheap large cozy room with a gigantic bed. All day free coffee available on 5th floor.
- KIT I (4/5): - 樓下是酒吧,很吵雜,早上退房什麼都沒有說過,員工沒禮貌還黑臉。
房間很潮濕還一股味道,房間很不乾淨。
除了位置很好以外,真的不建議住這裡。
- Sze Man (10/5): - Good and clean
- ELAINE YIK LING (6/5): It is a place to get a nap - The hotel room is bigger than i expected. However, the room service i request for is basic bottle opener, wine glasses and a bucket of ice, which they cannot provide and the staff express the hotel is simply a place for rest and they don't have restaurant attached so no above service can provide.
In my opinion, it doesn't qualify to be a hotel.
- Owen (10/5): - Nice environment with private bathroom. Super clean. Free cokes from the pantry.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Modern and spacious design, convenient location, affordable price point
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Keep up the good work.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good location just off Nathan Road. Modern well equipped room with adequate breakfast provided. Helpful staff. Would recommend
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pro - Close to city / Free limit mini bar & snack bar at reception / Free limit breakfast / Easy check in-out / Cleanliness room / Staff speak English so well. Con - Not a good manner of service I prefer to book room one more night (because of flight cancel) but staff didn't recommend to stay at perkin hotel. They said my online booking is cheap rather than book at front of hotel and he ignore it to help. So i decide to choose another hotel because of him / Hotel located high slope a bit hard for walk to hotel
- Stanley (10/5): excelent service and great locatiin - thanks to sir richard for assisting us
- Valarie (10/5): Great stay!! - Great location and super clean! Thank you
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good side is Clean and cozy. Rooms are spacious with tidy layout. Nothing I don’t like.
- Nowshad (8/5): Highly Recommend - Highly recommend this newer, exceptionally clean, well designed hotel at a reasonable price in the heart of Kowloon. Just a few steps away from the mtr subway station, hustle and bustle of Nathan street and about 10 minutes of walking to the Tsim Tsa Tsui promenade to view the stunning Hong Kong Skyline. Hotel rooms also include limited but fresh selection of good breakfast including fresh croissants. Only negative is finding the hotel. Google map won't help much. Take the escalator up, stairs down, walk by the restaurants and hotel is on the left.
- Summer (8/5): - Good location, close to shopping mall and not far from MTR , nice room
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good location, big room clean and safety, nice staff
- Dimitrios (10/5): Always Great! - Stayed here before, will stay here again!
Great location!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property is well situated in a great bar area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Rooms are quiet and neat despite its location within bars and restaurants.
- Andrew (10/5): Love this hotel - Really great hotel. Very comfortable. Rooms are well maintained. I like the complimentary bar and breakfast - it a small touch but makes a big difference.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location lots of things to do
I would stay there again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location for food, sights and everything within walking distance. Would definitely stay here again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hotel in a convenient location. Staff are very nice and friendly.
- Kevin (8/5): - Good and convenient location with modern decoration. The air-con external unit is a bit noisy. But when I visited HK, it's not so hot at night. Turning the air-con off at night is not a big issue.
- John (8/5): - Need improve breakfast. Hotel location too difficult find out also.
However, I prefer to recommend to traveling Hong Kong the property are very clean / nice decoration / kindness staff and easy approch center of Hong Kong / Transport also.
Ground floow, we found very nice international pub / food also include the reasonable nice hong kong food also.
- Ashley (10/5): - The entry is a bit hidden between two restaurants, and up a steep driveway, with a tiny elevator taking guests to the 5th floor check in. If this is no issue for you, then your stay will be great. The entry is clean and smells fresh. There are staff to checkin that speak English. The breakfast is small but sufficient. The rooms are small but very clean, with comfortable soft beds and very nice showers. The amenities are very nice.
- KinM (10/5): - Courteous staff, room exactly as pictured and described. For a short stay, great spot. Convenient location. Great perks: WiFi phone provided as travel buddy, free minibar (1st set), tidbit snacks on main floor (4 kinds of gummies, cupcakes, espresso machine, tea, pop & juices). Very comfortable stay! Totally recommend this spot
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good rooms with comfortable beds. Overall an excellent location but no direct access for vehicles
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great place to crash after a night out drinking - The Perkin Hotel is right above Knutsford Terrace (so many bars) and a quick walk to the MTR station. Though it's above a busy street, there's no noise pollution.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Hidden boutique hotel - The hotel is located kind of on the hill. There is no direct access to the street for automobiles. Taxi dropped you at Kimberly street and you have to pull your luggage up a steep slope and walk pass many restaurants/bars to get to the hotel. The hotel itself is in seems like a apartment building from the 5th floor and up. The entrance is in between two restaurants and very easy to miss it. Both “lobby” and breakfast area are located on 5th floor. Room is generally clean and well-maintained. Breakfast is basically continental breaskfast. The location is close to Kowloon Park and shopping area.
- Matthew (10/5): Excellent - Great hotel perfect
- Matthew (10/5): Great hotel - Great hotel highly recommend
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Almost everything I liked - spacious room, renovated, nice bathroom, comfort bed
- Verified traveler (8/5): - great location and surrounded by Pub, bar, restaurant and shopping mall. I will stay here again.
- Hamid (8/5): - The hotel itself was good, the entrance and visibility of the hotel could be made much better. Had a tough job find the hotel and the entry to the hotel and external visibility and cleanliness leaves much to be desired.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean
Location convenience
Airport shuttle
Close metro and shopping
Price fair
- Jenny (10/5): Great location & updated facilities - The Perkin Hotel was a great choice. Photos are exactly the same and even better in real life. The downstairs street is a popular shisha and drinks/food area. I was worried about the noise but all windows are sound proof and ease of access is on the side street. Would highly recommend.
- J (8/5): - For this room rate I expected a little nicer. Photos are nicer than the actual room but the room is clean. I could have paid extra 200 HKD per night for a 5-star hotel with sea view but I picked Perkin because the location is good.
- Edwards (8/5): - This is my second time here. Although the overall feel was still good but I did find a couple improvements needed. Two days in s roll I find long hairs in the fresh towels right after room making. Also it would be nice for the to have a small table and chair, there is plenty of room for that. Also a luggage rack would help.
- paul (10/5): Great value hotel - Great stay the staff could not do enough for us, we had a problem with the down bedding and they changed it for synthetic filled bedding. They kept checking everything was ok with us and the room . Everything was clean, great breakfast and great coffee all day.we would recommend this hotel to anyone.
- FYip (6/5): - The room was nice, but the location isn’t ideal. Public transit, ex taxis can not stop at the front door - there’s a bit of a trek to and from the main entrance. MTR is a solid 10-15 walk depending on your personal activity level. Lots of restaurants right outside the hotel ... but can be noisy on weekend evenings.
- Mike (10/5): - Excellent hotel centrally located. Nice breakfast and snacks. Nice rooms very quiet. Would definately use again
- Carol (10/5): - Really comfortable hotel with a super comfortable bed. The room was also spacious with a lovely bathroom
The access was not easy until we realised there was car/taxi access from Observatory Street.
It was a very central location with easy walking to ferry, markets, restaurants and wonderful shops.
- Helen (8/5): - Great central location and good value for HK! Comfy rooms and good complimentary breakfast.
- JayWalker (10/5): - Great location, convenient to have breakfast and coffee, our room was plenty big enough. Internet was good
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel room was super clean and had all amenities needed. I was traveling for business and would have liked if room had a small desk to do emails. I had to do them sitting in bed. Also wish there were few more options for breakfast like, pancakes or waffles. Also the hotel front access is not on a main Street. The taxi driver left me at a parallel street from where I had to drag two suitcases up a very slant slope. For dinner there are lot of options right as you exit hotel. It offers Mexican, Italian, japanese, Spanish cuisines.
- Carolyn (8/5): - Nice hotel, good location for walking around. Helpful staff.
- apple (8/5): Nice hotel - This hotel is located near shoping mall, mtr so its very convenient and comfortable to travel. The room is quite big than other hotel in hongkong.
- Andy (8/5): Good Kowloon Hotel up a very steep street - Stayed 2 nights between flights from Europe to NZ, good hotel to catch up on sleep and see some of Hong Kong
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We originally booked into a queen room on Expedia, but we had too much luggage and there was no way everything would fit, or even be able to open a suitcase. The front desk manager offered us to upgrade to the king on the 22nd floor which was larger, with beautiful view if the bay. Yes it cost more but was well worth it. He was very helpful in finding us restaurants and giving us directions to the markets.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent, friendly and extremely helpful staff - Myself and my wife stayed at the Perkin hotel for a week. There are many positives, modern, clean and good sized rooms. Location cannot be faulted it’s so near to everything including the MRT, airport bus drop off just across the road. It’s a modern hotel with so much attention to detail in terms of them providing and doing things to make our trip relaxing and enjoyable.
The staff are excellent, as are the housekeeping staff, thank you for a great stay, we will be back for sure.
- John (10/5): Hong Kong in a Typhoon - The staff at this hotel were amazing keeping us informed with the Typhoon situation and offering extra food at no cost. The reception staff could not have been more helpful.
- conangirl (10/5): Hotel with clean room - Perkin is located strategically in TST at Knutsford Terrace behind Mira Mall. The hotel reception is at the 5th floor of a small entrance between 2 pubs and car won’t able to reach at it’s front. There is a slope to go up to the terrace from Kimberly St.
Pros
Strategic location surrounded by malls, restaurants, pubs, chemist, and subway entrance about 400m walking distance.
The room is in good size and not a carpeted floor. Therefore, it’s spotless as you enter and no damp carpet smell.
Toiletries are provided and replenish frequently if you ask for Make Up room. Bed is to the hard type but I like it. It support my back well after a tiring day. But the pillow is a bit too soft.
We stay there for a week and love the hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): I will go again if I get it at the same price - Pros :
Room size is better than other hotels at this price range.
Great location if you plan to stay near bars and in a commercial area
Amenities were good
Nice view of the city
Cons:
There is very nice balcony but it is locked for all guests.
The "FREE breakfast" is just a gimmick as there is hardly any food for the breakfast. It is just only toast and couple of nibbles.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - This hotel is quite a simple place, there’s no frills and bows but it’s modern, clean and in a great spot. Walk out of the main entrance and there’s lots of choices of bars/restaurants and a good atmosphere. The harbour is approx 10-15 mins walk away. The rooms are spotless, the shower is great and the bathroom products are really nice.
The only slight let down was breakfast. Although it’s complimentary there is very little choice and very little room! Just a few tables in reception so not enough for all the hotel’s guests! Not a problem though as there’s a Starbucks 2 mins away. We’ve stayed there a second time and would return.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Will definitely stay again! - Very friendly staff. Very comfortable room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent. Great location, great housekeeping, room comes with universal power adaptor and mobile with unlimited net and international calls.
- Damelza (10/5): Great hotel - The hotel is in a great location with easy access to public transport and the main tourist areas. Lots of restaurants very close if you don't want to go far for food. On arrival our taxi driver dropped us at the end of Knutsford Terrace and it was a flat walk with our luggage. Rooms are very quiet and air conditioning was great. Bed was comfortable and good shower. Wifi is fast and reliable. Breakfast is minimal. Overall we enjoyed our stay and it was good value for money.
- Beth (10/5): - Clean, modern hotel located 2 blocks from Nathan Road, in the heart of HK. There are many restaurants, bars and a mall adjoining the hotel. It is an easy 10-20 minutes walk to the ferries, HK museum, water front, and subways. The night market was 2-3 train stops away. Basic continental breakfast was included. Drink and snacks were available in the evening. Excellent value.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent hotel - Excellent new clean modern hotel, and I got a room with partial view of the harbor. The room was spacious (executive room) on the corner and cannot hear any noise from the busy alley and streets below at night. Very convienent to shopping area. Great location and they offer complimentary breakfast.
- Christopher (10/5): Regular Guest - I have stayed at the Perkin Hotel before and they do a great job. Boutique Hotel, lovely rooms and very central.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hotel on Knutsford Terrance. The room was bigger than your average hotel in Hong Kong and very modern. Staff are great and there was a refreshment area near reception which was free. We did hear some noise from the bars downstairs but it was not too bad and the noise did not go on too late. Would definitely return to this hotel
- Verified traveler (10/5): Hidden Gem - Modern boutique hotel set on a pedestrianized terrace in downtown Kowloon.
Very sleek modern rooms with comfortable beds and good quality linens.
All staff were pleasant, professional and polite. Richard in reception went the extra mile, was helpful, friendly and efficient.
The free continental breakfast was good.
The only downside was that getting to the hotel entailed a climb up a steep ramp or steps.
Though this was beyond the hotels control, it would be difficult for people with walking difficulties. The staff and taxi drivers did their very best to minimize the problem by helping with cases etc.
I would not hesitate to recommend the Perkin to friends and family. J.J.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It had a mini fridge with comolementary beverages but what was extremely heloful and unique was that each room comes with a cell phone that guest can take out and use for the duration of their stay. The cell phone came with free unlimited local, international calls, text and free internet. This came in handy to helo us stay in touch with family back home as well as navigate the Hong Kong since we didnt have an international plan.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean and comfortable - Really good stay at the perkin hotel. Very clean, nice and quiet and modern. Only criticism would be the breakfast as it was very limited. Overall very good stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The place is very convenient. The wifi barely worked.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Living like a Hong konger - Excellent spot in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui loves the convenience and every moment of it.
- Krod (8/5): - Nice room and good location but found the daily housekeeping way below scratch.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Internet so slow. Room is nice and clean - Internet super slow. Can’t even play game on iPad. Room is nice and clean. Check in slow.
- S Kawenata (10/5): Vibrate locale - Was easy check-in. Great location re MTR, Airport Express Bus, food/bars literally on doorstep ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knutsford_Terrace). Very quiet hotel room (5th Flr reception - rooms above). Would head there again!
- Pere (10/5): - Great hotel in great location.
- Ilona (10/5): - Nice stylish and modern room - great views. I asked for a quiet room and got one. Was happy with service etc.
- Davo (10/5): - Clean, friendly staff, comfortable bed, great location, recommend highly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location, comfortable, free mobile phone use - Was in a really convenient location, near Tsim Sha Tsui subway station. It's in the middle of a walkway near restaurants and bars so you would think it would be noisy, but the room was completely soundproof so that was great. This is the first time I've experienced this, but each room also came with a mobile phone you could use during your stay, with unlimited data, local calls and international calls all included. This was really helpful as we used the map feature often while travelling around Hong Kong. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast was not super extensive but it was pretty good and included with the room price. It was clean and modern and comfortable - I would definitely stay here again!
- Peter (10/5): - Three Nights in Hong Kong
- Lee (10/5): - Great hotel in a good location.freindly helpful staff.would definitely stay here again.
- DANIEL (6/5): Hotel for young party animals. - The hotel is set on a busy bar street, intact, the hotel is above a bar. We were constantly bombarded with men trying to force us into the bars when we left and came back to the hotel.
Booked because of the location and the fact there was breakfast included however the breakfast was awful. Hotdogs, cold hard boiled eggs and bread without a proper toaster. It has a small oven to heat the bread.
Room was much smaller than I thought it would be after seeing the photographs and the curtains allowed a lot of light into the room. Also the noise outside from people drinking and partying every night of the week didn’t help and could still be heard over the noisy air conditioning unit which you need to leave on because the room and corridors are swelteringly hot otherwise.
The hotel has 22 floors with 4 of the floors for busyrestaurants and bars and only 2 lifts so we had to wait for long periods of time for a lift to our room because of the amount of guests.
Would not come back or recommend this hotel to anyone except if you are party animals who would like a short stumble to your hotel room after a night out.
- Ymhin (8/5): - The location is great because of its accessibility to tourist spots and establishments.
The room is clean and modern.
The staff are friendly and accommodating.
The only thing I didn't like was when the alarm accidentally went off early in the morning and it woke up everyone.
- Gordon (10/5): - Loads of bars and restaurants outside front door or within easy reach. Air conditioned throughout hotel. An ideal place for me at 84 travelling on my own.
- Verified traveler (8/5): clean n tidy hotel - staff is nice, bed is comfortable to me, and tge room is really clean
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent spacious hotel - Located at tsim sha tsui, this hotel is located near the supper and drinking spots.. Nicely furnished and spacious room. Love the hospitality..
- Aaron (10/5): The Perkin Hotel - Hotel is located close major streets, local and high end shopping areas. Easy to access multiple tourist sights from this location on foot or on the MTR. There are also plenty of bars and restaurants open in the evenings on the street the hotel is on.
Service is friendly and if you arrive early or leave late for your flight you can check in your luggage at the desk. Rooms are small and comfortable, AC works well, beds were comfy, and accommodations were very nice for the price. Would stay here again.
- Dr.John (6/5): - Hotel Perkin ...
Let me tell you as a frequent traveler about this hotel.
First off the hotel is situated on a steep hill so be prepared for a climb if you have luggage. Also this hotel is snuggled up against several bars so if you are into the bar scene its great because you never need to leave your hotel to get wasted. However at night be prepared for a little noise especially on the weekends.
Secondly the hotel has really no lobby or front door entrance, i.e. if you walk fast or blink you will pass the hotel's front door.
Security - Well, lets just say you are on your own here because they do provide a door man that sits in his little corner and enjoys the a/c that is blown at full blast as he naps. And the odd thing is the hotel door man gets off at about 5 pm so after that there is absolutely zero security or visual deterrent on the grounds.
Cleanliness - As a physician this place is absolutely unacceptable due to the bed bugs we encountered. Clearly the night staff was in a hurry to get this room ready and simply did NOT change the sheets from the prior hotel guest. Nothing like finding cookie crumbs, bed bugs and pubic hair from the last guest. Must be their ides of a souvenir?
Breakfast - I would say this is more like coffee and whatever... Dirty and disappointing.
Baggage - Never leave your bags there because they simply leave it in the open lobby so anyone can just take your stuff.
Overall i give this place a 2 star rating.
- Iris (8/5): Spacious room for HK standard - Stayed one night here recently and here's my observation.
LOCATED near TST station (Kowloon Park exit), not accessible by car so if you're arriving by taxi, you need to drop off at Mira Place (opp entrance to The Mira hotel), walk up a steep slope & walk pass a few restaurants/bars to the building to The Perkin (lobby at 5/F).
Note that this is not a full fledge hotel with full suite of services, e.g. no bell boy, no room service. There's a security guard at the door at ground level, he's always there to open the door for me except when away on patrol. Check-in was swift and reception staff was polite.
ROOM was spacious for HK standard with free mini bar (3 cans of soft drink + 1 packet lemon tea) for 1st night. The room and shower area were clean.
A handy phone was included in the room which you can use to navigate around town. You can also make free local and international calls from the handy phone. It doesn't allow hot-spot tethering though, so you cannot share with your companion.
Breakfast was simple with bread (toast them yourself), hard-boiled egg, cheese, jam & sausages. There's also coffee machine which has steamed milk for your tea if you like. They even have yuzu tea.
My request for late check-out was swiftly given. Again, reception staff was friendly & polite at check-out.
I'm overall happy with my stay though think it's a bit pricey. But again, it's all about location, location, location.
- Rhys (10/5): Great value - Very nice room, very friendly and helpful staff, happy hour paradise on the doorstep!
One receptionist was particularly helpful & welcoming, and helped me onto the lift while I was carrying a load of free goodies from the reception area to my room!
