Guest Reviews
- b (10/5): trés bon séjour - trés bon rapport qualité prix grande chambre bon personnel proche du centre tranquille
- Peter (8/5): Good value hotel - Nice hotel. Comfortable. Needs a makeover. Good value.
- bernard (10/5): - bon accueil
- John (6/5): - walkable to many places
- John (8/5): - simple, OK and close to my meeting place.
- John (8/5): - simple fast
- John (8/5): - close to main road
- Verified traveler (8/5): - อยู่ใจกลางเมือง สะดวก โรงแรมสะอาด พนักงานยิ้มแย้มแจ่มใสดี
- Jacgentsia (2/5): Poor in every way — thieves, liars, bad facilities, and noisy all day - On top of having a local family actually living in one of the rooms full time that had kids running and yelling in the halls all morning, and the bad smelling rooms filled with mosquitos, the desk reception lady blatantly lied to me and kept my deposit. I told her I’d be checking out at 8 pm the next evening and paid the half day amount in advance that she told me I’d owe. The next day I went to check out at the time I told her and she said I had to leave at 6 for the half day rate (never told me this before)and told me I needed to pay for the full day, thereby keeping my security deposit. Stay away from this place if you want an enjoyable time in an otherwise great city.
- Daniel (8/5): Nuit d'escale à Khonkaen - Bon accueil.
La chambre attribuée n'avait pas été nettoyée mais une autre chambre nous a été attribuée sans problème avec le sourire .
Très bien pour une escale
- Allen (6/5): Roma hotel. - Bring your ear plugs, its a busy place and loud. There are people working all night long, and makeing it hard to sleep.
- Verified traveler (4/5): litt sliten - helt ok. skuæle bare være 1 natt
- claudioz710 (8/5): Ok - Position in centre town. Not far from bus station, market and restaurants. The price is cheap...500baht. They offer wi fi free, air conditioned, satellite tv. Restaurant with live music. Very close also a massage parlour..
- Verified traveler (10/5): Pas parfait mais excellent rapport qualité prix - Très bonne
- _julien_sdbs (2/5): go away !! curently under renovation / noise of drills and hammer non stop - i stay a few day with my family and my daughter can not sleep ( me too) because they make noise due to the renovation of many room.
All the days the noise of drills and hammer blows!
i am a regular from thailand and this is the first time i see this.
seriously, run , go away ...
when i asked to change room , they replied that hotel was full .... liar.
hotel empty...

- kevinmB9377OQ (8/5): Central Location - This is a long running downtown hotel that I have stayed in several times, mostly years apart. The check-in desk is at the far end of a very long lobby, well back from the street.
Our double room on the sixth & top floor had a bit of a garish paint job and a couple of copy Andy Warhol Marilyn Monroe prints side by side on one wall. It was a clean room, the refrigerator had bottled water, everything worked & the bed was soft. If there were any noises from the city we didn't hear them, all in all a good couple of days & nights there.
- 404anchalees (6/5): Good location with low cost - I've tried to find low cost hotels in Khonkaen , and it seems this hotel is one of a few of them (I've got a nice room with only 400 thb per night , no breakfast) .
Anyway , location was good, surrounded by many restaurant and easy to go to others attraction by taking bus or shuttle .
- TanEdwin (8/5): Good Location Simple Hotel with Lift - Very basic Hotel with lift located along the main road and within walking distance to Kosa Mall or night market (15 mins) . Otherwise you can hop on to the local transport opp the hotel (Blue Pick Up truck Service 8 @ 9 Baht or Air con bus service 24 @ 15 Baht) to visit some attractions like the 9 Level Temple, Night market, Fairy Plaza and also to the Non Aircon Bus Terminal if you love to go out town.
The Air con Bus Terminal is just 5 mins walk.
Many good eats especially the one beside selling fish ball noodles which operates 24 hours.
- Kirsteen (8/5): Comfey bed - Convey bed for my aching body after doing phu kradueng!
They lost my booking and I had to take screenshots and forward emails the next day, which was fine because I had time to spare but not amazing.
- harry (2/5): Disgusting - Worst holidays in last 25 yrs...plz dont go to this place..hotel bad....khonkhen even worst
- Verified traveler (2/5): surprisingly poor quality room and facility - perhaps we were just given the worst room in the hotel but it was such poor quality that it made a stay beyond one night unthinkable. The hotel seems to cater to university students and this is reflected in the amenities and hotel condition.
The room was small and poorly furnished, whatever was there was long overdue for replacement. The air conditioning unit seemed ready to fall apart and was beyond normal lifespan. Just about nothing in the bathroom worked, there was only cold water and the shower knobs ready to fall off, the toilet would not flush, the tiling was chipped, badly patched and dirty etc.
Can not recommend beyond a cheapest possible option if you are pretty desperate on the price.
- Tim (8/5): Very convenient, good value - Friendly staff, nice beer terrace.
- Sakontorn (2/5): the worst ever - Hotel pictures is look good but it's opposite. I won't return this hotel toilet is too dirty. And reception service is the worst. I've never seen like this hotel before. The price is around 500-600 baht but another hotel near this hotel is better if you will choose this hotel. I suggest to choose another. Bye forever.
- 931ashers (2/5): The Worst hotel - Hotel pictures is look good but it's opposite. I won't return this hotel toilet is too dirty. And reception service is the worst. - Russ (8/5): Nice hotel - Great staff, nice rooms, beds are very comfortable (at least in mine). Very accomodating! I tried to rate it at 4 stars, but the app wouldn't let me.
- MarianneB803 (8/5): Good value and location - The 500 and 600 baht rooms here are quite good when you think of the price. No, many of the bathrooms are not pretty and the cleaning is seldom good in Thailand. When our baby was crawling I cleaned the floor with wet wipes. But as another reviewer said, choose your room carefully, they are different and especially the bathrooms and the ac's. Many rooms in the 3rd floor is a good choice. The hotel doesn't have breakfast, but there's a restaurant in the first floor which also has live band every night. There's a lot of eating options outside. Early morning and late night. Don't be scared of the bad reviews. Just ask to see some rooms before you choose.
- Keely33 (2/5): You get what you pay for - I stayed here on 2 separate occasions and was not impressed either time. My first night, I splurged for a room with A/C. The receptionist told me it was 400 baht, but when it came time to pay, told me I owed 500 baht. Everything about the room was dirty, from the walls to the sheets to the towels. Absolutely disgusting stains on my sheets and towels. Faucet on the sink hardly even trickled. My room did not have a wifi login/password, so expect to ask for that at check in. At least the A/C worked.
My second night here, a week later, was way worse than the first. I decided to save money and opt for a room with just a fan, for 230 baht. The room was filthy, nasty dripping stains on the walls. Electrical wires sticking out where lights should be. My bathroom didn't even have a light! My bed wasn't made, it just had a single fitted sheet on it. I spent as little time possible in this room. I left feeling like I needed to shower.
The staff is not very friendly. They seem annoyed any time you ask them for assistance of any kind.
Don't let their pictures on here fool you!!! The rooms do NOT look anything like that!!!!
Do not recommend this hotel at all.
- nitinoza51 (8/5): Stay at Roma Hotel, Khonkaen Thailand - This was my second visit to this hotel as I prefer to stay there because it is centrally located, provides comfortable stay at reasonable tariff of 500 baht and moreover Saturday night market better known as walking street is very near. But bus stop has been shifted away which was very near to the hotel being the only disadvantage as it is now converted in to van parking. Moreover, seven eleven is almost next door & many eating joints are in the close vicinity.
- LeeLee28London (8/5): Great little budget hotel - We stayed at the Roma after sleeping on the floor for 2 weeks at a Buddhist Monastery so this review may be a little bias!
Bed was like heaven
Ensuite was like heaven
Complimentary bottled water was like heaven
Price was like heaven
But yes view the room beforehand, our friends had to change a few times.
Nice stay!
- travelwithausten (8/5): For the price that you pay the hotel is great - A big hotel situated in walking distance from the night market. It is also about a 5 min drive to the train station (or a brisk 40 min walk!) The local songthaews run along the road that the hotel faces onto.
I was given one of the 'newer' rooms i believe. The bathroom was spotless and recently upgraded. Very please about that. I only had a fan room but I have been in Thailand long enough not to need the air-con on full blast 24/7. Also, the weekend I was there was a little chilly due to the rain.
There is a restaurant downstairs but I cannot comment as to the quality of the food as I did not eat there at all.
Bookings at this hotel is made via the phone. It is really well priced and I would stay there again next time I traveled to Khon Kaen
- Tim555 (8/5): A good hotel in a good location (but choose your room carefully) - I stayed here for 3 nights. The first room I had was very clean and pretty (possibly in the new part of the hotel) but it was roasting hot. I had a fan room which had the sun on it the whole of the day - it never cooled down. In the morning, I spoke to the cleaners and asked them which rooms were cooler and changed room. The next room was not as clean and new but it was cool enough with a fan.
- NixxxyB (8/5): great value budget rooms. - Stayed in a fan double for 230 a night - fantastic value for a room with bathroom, WiFi, daily cleaning, TP was provided. Can walk to bus stations and to Saturday walking street (highly recommended). Staff were friendly and helpful. Not the most attractive hotel but I think the cheap rooms have recently had a paint so were in good shape for the price. Would stay again.
- EakK8 (4/5): Bad service staff. - I had toilet in lobby floor but mr.kob is staff of hotel strongly speaking for use in lobby toilet and control limit time for operate so I feel bad and terrible his service so much because I am customer but why he complaints me just used lobby toilet!!!! None sense!!!
- nitinoza51 (8/5): Visit to Khon Kaen for Marathon purpose - I recently visited Khon Kaen to participate in Marathon & I stayed at Roma & found it very best compared to the tariff they charge. Would like to come again to the same hotel. The most significant thing is the location of the hotel which is very near to the Bus Stop which makes it more convenient for the visitor to carry along their luggage without depending upon any public transport. In the morning when we wanted to go to the spot of Marathon we were offered free ride to the Marathon venue from the hotel and also while returning to hotel.
- 151emilyb (8/5): Great value for your money - Have stayed here twice and both times were satisfied with the room for only 500THB a night. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was just okay. Good place if you have a big group. It is close to the bus stations (within walking distance), lots of great restaurants and the Saturday night walking street. Would stay here again!
- Triseult (8/5): New rooms are great value - I visited Khon Kaen in 2009 and stayed a few days at the Roma, and I remember not being impressed by their AC rooms. I came back in September 2013, though, and the newly renovated "boutique" rooms are like a different hotel altogether. Highly recommended.
The hotel offers three types of rooms: Fan, AC, and Boutique. I peeked into fan rooms from the hallway, and as others have pointed out, they looked worn out and musty. The AC rooms looked better than I remembered. But the boutique rooms... Wow, I love them. Big, bright and cheerful, with a nice bathroom, fridge, AC, and a big, comfortable bed.
The staff was always kind and helpful with me. Most of the times there was someone there who could speak English and answer my questions, and they were always happy to help.
The Roma Hotel is located smack in the middle of the action, two blocks north of the AC bus station, and surrounded by an impressive choice of street stalls and small restaurants. The food overall is really good here, and people are cheerful and helpful. I ate at a few stalls the first day, and the next day, everyone was waving at me and smiling. This is also a good spot to catch songthaews going elsewhere in town. There's a night market two blocks south, and a weekend night market (open on Saturday) two blocks north, which I enjoyed tremendously.
- JudyC354 (4/5): Terrible room with stains everywhere on the walls - This hotel was the worst one I've had until now. The lobby looked nice, but the room was really awful. Some kinds of red stains on the walls. I couldn't helping thinking about some horrible scene. The door of the bathroom was rotten by water. I had a fan room. However, why there is such a big difference between rooms. I don't understand why the hotel keeps such rooms. Anyway, it was a terrible stay in this hotel. I don't recommend it.
- alexia_alessia (8/5): Nice standard room - We spent just a night in this clean and standard hotel.
We were in the new rooms, nice decorated with all you need. A clean and well furnished bathroom, a comfortable and large bed, closet and TV.
If you're looking for a calm night this is waht you need.
