- Muckadackal (6/5): - The bathroom has to be made safe for senior citizen by installing hand rails under shower as there is no provision to hold in case of slips and toilet to get up safely.
- Nick (2/5): - Not even a 3 star hotel. This hotel desperately needs a renovation. The rooms are so old and run down. Our first room was disgraceful. After much complaining the hotel moved us and while the new room was better it was still terrible. The reception staff were rude and useless. This is a government run building and as tourists we felt totally out of place, at times not able to eat in restaurant, even pool area have to pass over our passports for entry. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

The breakfast service very poor. There was no easily accessible tea of coffee. The food layout was poorly conceived. The chef for the cooking station was often absent. Overall, the hotel is shabby and in need of renovation and renewal, in decor, facilities and service

- Roger (4/5): - This property has seen better days - upon first walking in you can feel its grandeur but that’s where the positive impressions stop. The rooms were overly complicated and because so were tired and in a severe state of disrepair, the shower was disgusting The desk was rude incapable of the simple task of arranging a taxi, and an arrogance towards the customer that everything was too difficult There were exceptions to this with pockets of good service but generally staff were not responsive enough Everything just way too formal for today’s market. A big refresh of its values I am sure would return this hotel to its proud history

At checkin there were 5 staff people at the desk & they were very distracted & & it took them almost 1/2 hour for them to check us in. Blasting music from 10 pm to 5 am is not suitable for sleep. We had to change our room at midnight as we could no longer take the noise.

But for a 5-star hotel, the wifi was incredibly bad. The connection was unstable during my entire stay. The wi-fi would cut out literally every few minutes. Despite multiple complaints, it did not get better. The other issue was noise. The hotel staff would often gather in the hallways and chat loudly or shout at each other across the hallway, even late in the night.

- Mario (2/5): Terrible, loud, sleepless nights - We stayed for 5 nights at the ashok in room 423 the executive suite. It was a sleepless experience. The bedroom window did not close and was directly above the banquet hall and outdoor dancing. The lounge room balcony door did not close properly and was directly above a night club. For 5 nights we endured very loud indian music that did not stop until approx 2 am. On the fifth night I rang reception at 11.45pm to ask when it will stop. Was informed at 1.00am. Waited until 1.47am and rang again nothing changed despite promises. Went down to reception at 3.15am to complain. Music was turned down. I rang reception 5 times that night. They promised to stop the music but did not. This hotel is aware that all rooms above the banquet hall will endure noise all night from their functions and do nothing about it. It is not a hotel that ensures that guests who pay alot of money to stay, can rest and sleep, instead it puts ahead profits in its entertaining. Only after complaits to the manger were made that were we changed to the the "quiet" area. Management knows and does nothing. Horrible experience in a run down hotel. The bathroom had a window into the bedroom and the lights in the bathroom coud not be turned off except by the pulling out the key at the door. Definitely not 5* Worse still our inital complaints had not been escalated and the day shift staff apparently knew nothing.

Checked in at 2 pm and the process was smooth. We booked one Standard Room with Twin Bed. Let us now move to the review of facilities and my experience ( Rating have been assigned in a Scale of 1 to 5 , 5 being highest):- A. Location : Very conveniently located at the heart of the city but quiet location at DiplomaticEnclave. Hotel arranges paid airport pick up on request. (Rating 5). B. Room : Room was of about 264 square feetsize , well furnished, with two queen sized bed, two seperate wardrobes, Flat screen TV , small sitting couch and a writing desk . Bed was rightly soft, comfy with linens . The room had wood flooring and clean and have all amenities that you expect in a 5 Star property viz. tea making facility, refrigerator, minibar, iron board, bathrobes, slippers, safe . Adequate bottles of water are provided and tea pouches replaced every day. Toilet was good in size and with a seperate shower enclosure . Toilet is fitted with sanitary fitings of good quality with hot and cold water. Toileteries like shampoo, body wash and body lotion were provided. Towels looks dated and overused . Quality of toileteries are ordinary. Room had good air conditioning. However, the room looks dated requiring immediate renovation. In our room the door lock was faulty and often didn't close.(Rating 3.75) C. Facilities : The hotel has all facilities that you expect in a 5 star business hotel. Tge hotel building is huge. From one corner to the other corner of the corridor almost one km.The lobby area is huge with reception and bell desk area well marked. The hotel has business centre, laundry and ironing service, restaurants, patteserie, fully stocked bar, spa and wellness centre, swimming pool, , garden, cocierge service, tour service etc. Room service is available 24 hours. However, the hotel has signs of govt. ownership all around. (Rating 4) D. Dining options: The hotel has three restaurants. 24 hours coffee shop Samavar, Oudh serving Awadhi cuisines, Frontier serves North Western Cuisine, Sagar Ratna for South Indian Cuisine and a cake shop. We had our breakfast at Samavar. Food quality is very ordinary though the buffet spread was elaborate (Rating 4). E. Overall service : The hotel has very well behaved team of staff at the reception and also at its housekeeping. All requests are met immediately with a smile. But the staffs are not efficient enough. (Rating 3.75). F. Suggested improvements: The property, interior, toilet fittings look extremely dated and the hotel is due for some major upliftments. Just ok option for business travellers or for luxury stay with family but not value for money. (OVERALL RATING 3.5)
- atulya_sinha (10/5): LEISURELY LUNCH - This review is about the Coffee Shop, which I have visited many times over the past 30 years or so. It still retains its old-world charm. Recently I invited a group of friends there for lunch. The menu was rather limited, but we had Hakka Noodles, Fried Rice, Chilli Paneer and Cauliflower Manchurian - typical Indian style Chinese cuisine! The food was well cooked and the service was good. A great place for a leisurely lunch in the heart of New Delhi.

- pauldU6091EO (6/5): Ducky goes to Delhi - attended the KHO World Cup 2025 and was taken to this hotel for a meal, ok food wise but no Lamb or mutton only veg, very big hotel lobby and lots of empty shops on the way to the dining hall very cold marble all over the place a bit dated but had a Veg meal but drinks were expensive.
- John (4/5): - This hotel does not have a free airport shuttle as advertised on Orbitz The tall youth with the sparkly glasses should not be in customer service. He is too casual and rude.
- Kalsang Dolker (2/5): - The reception staff was so inefficient and had to change my room two times. They gave me key but there was people in the room. Then gave me another room that had broken ceiling walls and twin beds when I booked a double bed. Only after I sought the manager and spoke to him that I was able to get a good room. The whole process took more than an hour to check in after arriving to the hotel after a long trip from US. There was only two receptionist counter open to check in when there was more than 7 staff standing at the counter. When I checked out, the staff said they lost the receipt of my payment of ₹26000 and asking me to give them a copy. I had thrown it in the garbage in the room and I had to go to the room to find it. This delayed my check out process by 30minutes further causing my taxi to wait for another 30minutes and rushing to the airport. This was ridiculous. At night there was loud music playing until 1am for both the nights I stayed and it greatly disrupted my sleep and rest.

- aabadi (6/5): Not as bad as the previous reviews, but not great either - The rooms are okay. Not five star though. The hotel is very large with dozens of stores that are vacant giving it a bit of a dreary look. The breakfast is typical of an Indian three or four star hotel. The housekeeping is excellent. The pricing is equal to a 5-star, but if you can get a TAJ or Lalit, they’re much better options. I had an incident where the front desk mistakenly wanted to charge me a second time and they refused to properly look into their records. Later, after twenty minutes, they finally looked and found my payment and checked me out, but without an apology. Find a better hotel. There are so many good ones.

Gym will ask for your passport again when they have everything ar check in. Hotel staff just inflexible and does not have any sense of customer service.

- Anil (4/5): - This Hotel is over staffed and has poor service. Staff often come to ask for tips, without providing service. It has a threadbare appearance, poorly maintained, dirty, poor value for the money. I will never stay there again.
- Jagdeep (4/5): - carpets smells, reception was poorly schooled about how to use wifi. Door keys malfunction randomly and you have to go to reception to get it replaced. Housekeeper told me that it generally happened due to some electronic interference. Requested to send someone to help us with AC issue and it took them ages to knock my door. I mean poor Cleanliness was at height. I will never think of coming over here in my even dreams.

- 887harmanpreetk (2/5): Not within a mile of luxury!! - I stayed at The Ashok, New Delhi from 15th September 2024 to 16th September 2024. Except for the architectural scale of the property, everything else fell far below expectations for a five-star hotel. From the moment I checked in, the experience was disappointing. I could not see much difference in the behaviour of the front desk staff from a booking clerk in a government office. Despite booking an MAP plan and having a receipt of the same, the check-in staff insisted it was breakfast only. The lobby manager later confirmed that one other meal was included, but at the time of check out, I could not redeem my meal plan. Having stayed in many heritage hotels, I expected charm and character, but the rooms at The Ashok felt neglected and outdated, as if upkeep standards hadn’t been touched since the colonial era. The rooms were basic, and there was a stark lack of amenities. Guests are provided with just four 500ml water bottles per day, regardless of the number of occupants, and any extra must be ordered from room service. There was hot water only in the shower, not in the sink, and no iron in the room. The "complimentary" ironing facility was laughable. It’s a small 6x6 closet with a tired looking ironing board, a very basic iron, and no pegs or hangers for your clothes. Plus, this is self service and shared by the entire floor. Breakfast was a mediocre 6/10, and the staff seemed inattentive throughout the meal. To top it off, on the morning of my check-out, housekeeping staff broke into a loud argument right outside my room at 11:30 AM, which further expedited my departure. If I would use one word to describe the hotel it would be – “Sarkari” or “Sarkari guesthouse” probably for babus but not worth booking with your money for. Not that they care abour reviews either because if they did, the services would not be this degree of pathetic!

If you don't mind the slow service,you are more than welcome to stay here.Its many years old hotel,may have become a little shabby but it's has the Heritage charm.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Do not recommend - AVOID!! AC did not work. Hot water didn’t either. Wifi was spotty and slow. So much staff (e.g had 3 people walk us to room) and everyone expects tips. Overall rundown hotel. Kind of depressing. Go elsewhere.

The lounge/bar outside the main building had some life but the in-house restaurants were sad. At least, Frontier had one saving grace, the food was really good.

The hotel has lovely range of restaurants and an amazing fitness Centre-cum-Swimming pool one of the best in Delhi. Service is good , housekeeping is great , front office service was very fast and smooth.

- DivikGlobal (2/5): Biased and Discriminatory - Class divide and judging people on the basis of their vehicle and clothes is still existing at places like this. Me and my cyclist friend went to Ashok on our bicycle but we were denied entry as “THEY” do not allow 2 wheelers including bicycles. Being a health enthusiast is not encouraged by BIASED places like this. Extremely unhappy with the way some hotels have discriminatory policy like this.

Me and my mon travelled for a day ...we arrived at night and went to grab some food at the 24 hour cafe and the night manager acted inappropriately with my mother and passed comments. He was there staring at us the whole time and he asked for the room number several times and offered unnecessary free stuff. You guys have to take an action ASAP! That guy is lucky we didn't call the cops. Horrible experience with rubbish rooms and poor food! Please take an action bcz harrasment is not okay! Date 18 march night

- RRRCM (2/5): Just avoid, plain and simple. - Absolutely shocking, filthy and unfriendly. Staff unmotivated and hotel a dump. There are so many different and better options available and no reason to even consider the Ashok as option. Manageress gave me a look of disbelief when I showed her photos attached.

The staff are so rude and slow especially the front desk reception to check in it took over 40 minutes just to check in then they gave us a filthy dirty room that looked like it had never been cleaned. When we complained they reluctantly changed the room which wasn’t any better. This hotel is so old and neglected it looks like they do not complete any maintenance at all. The bathroom was dirty not enough towels were left and the sheets on the bed were dirty. Thankfully we only stayed one night. I will never ever stay at this hotel

- Ravi (4/5): Disappointed - This is a very historic and elegant structure with a lot of great artwork. It is centrally located and convenient. Unfortunately, the standards of service are low. The coffee shop at breakfast time is chaotic, unclean and poorly managed. Room service did not occur. The internet is erratic and slow. Perhaps a more competent approach to management would help.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Needs improvement but ok - The property seems nice and grand, however it's is not what is used to be I was told. Probably 3-4star. Some rooms are very old and not kept up properly. Some rooms are better. The bathrooms are not kept up too well in the older rooms. And the newer ones are ok. The housekeeping staff and floor managers are nice , but some of the front desk staff are not so helpful. I think I was given a bad room at first and then the lobby manager was nice enough to upgrade me and the same front desk guy tried to deny me the upgrade. Also they made the mistake of not taking a deposit for extras and I had issues with room service and having to pay immediately on delivery with cash or online. If I can pay that amount of money for the room why would I ditch on paying a simple food bill. Fault of the front desk staff which led to a uneasy situation with friends.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Run-down and Ill-maintained - Incredibly run-down and ill-maintained. The lights in my bathroom flickered on and off, but when I called to request maintenance no one responded. The in-room safe didn’t work. The remote controlling the lights didn’t work. I was scheduled to stay for a week, but I fled after the first hour.
- Vikram (10/5): Really Nice hotel with Very large Spaces - Overall, it is as good as any other 5-star hotel in Delhi. Nice spacious Halls, lobby, walkway & rooms. Everything was excellent except for the room staff who are still in those colonial times, expecting a tip for everything, barging into your room for a tip. Overall, it was a super experience hotel lobby staff was excellent, the food was great, rooms were great. 5 Stars for that.

- Anshu (4/5): - Overall it is an okayish place. There is still room for improvement. I did not like the fact that they did not provide us with NEW shower gels. The executive room was not that big which was a surprise! The wifi is not great, it works but you cannot make a video call. The gym is great! But the only issue I feel is that they want to click a photo of your ID if want to use it. This can be made seamless by different ways. For me, I do not feel safe to allow a staff to click a picture of my passport with their phones.

They take payment in full at check-in. I can understand why! Overall, I’m very disappointed with my stay at the Ashok. Hotels.com, I did made a complaint to you, but you failed to take any actions. Very disappointed with Hotels.com as well.
- John (8/5): - A colonial hotel that would once be considered "luxury," but is past its prime. Rooms need some upgrading, e.g., broken sink drain stopper not properly fixed. Good location in diplomatic enclave. Door staff refused to call a regular taxi for my airport trip, but forced me to take their own car service which was twice what I paid coming in. Food was acceptable, but not a five-star rating. Restaurant staff needs some training in customer service.

They are always willing to help you and go beyond boundaries to keep customers happy. 2. Delicious buffets breakfast they serve every morning.All tastes good, Especially the masala dosa prepared in live breakfast kitchen counter. 3. Great location. Its in the midst of all embassies But not everything here were great. Let me summarize negatives as next. This property is age old and the rooms really ask for upgrades. The appliances in a room are not really qualified for a 5 star hotel. Also, not sure why they still retain, rewash and reuse the years old bath towels. Its high time for a total upgrade for this hotel.
