Guest Reviews
- Steve (10/5): - .
- Ronda (10/5): - The bed and pillows were super comfortable, it was a very charming room, and everything was so clean and quiet. We’ll be going back!
- Amy (10/5): - The room was small but fine for just the 2 of us. It was cleaner than some major chain hotels we’ve stayed at but much more homey.
- ben (10/5): - Nice
- Brynna (10/5): - We had a fantastic weekend! Room was clean and staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Hady (10/5): - This place was so clean, the staff was amazing and even checked on us throughout our stay and they have the place stocked with everything you could possibly need! Everything is so cute, the only thing I would say is that having bonfire pits at each cabin would be cool but they do have one outdoor gas grill up by the motel part and they had a little round grill we used for a bonfire at our cabin. But seriously, that’s so small compared to all the wonderful things about it. Plenty of parking, cute vibe all around and so close to both Torch Lake and Grand Traverse Bay (less than 3 mins to each one). Will be back!
- Gregory (10/5): - Had a blast stayed in cabin #5 was so clean and the owners are very helpful and so so nice.
- Kelly (10/5): - Super cute and charming room! Felt way more homey than a standard motel. I absolutely loved the complimentary coffee and snacks in the shared cafe space. I only wish I could have stayed longer. I checked in really late, and they were really accommodating and helpful. Highly recommend if you're looking for a well above average motel stay!
- Beichen (10/5): - Lovely decorated motel. Room was well kept. Very close to Lake Michigan and Torch Lake. Staff was very warm and welcoming. Keep in mind there is no breakfast offered; there is coffee and snacks, although there is a cafe right across the street.
- Margaret (10/5): - Fantastic! The owners were very friendly and personable. I highly recommend this wonderful place!
- benjamin v (10/5): - Perfect for my one night stay. The motel is clean and uniquely furnished. The Owner and Staff are enthusiastic and efficient.
A great experience, staying here helps the local economy
- Nancy (10/5): - We had a very nice stay. Owners were very friendly and made us feel welcome.
We loved the retro style, rooms were nicely decorated and had everything we needed.
- Gary (10/5): - It was most awesome!!! The people were the best and made sure we was well taken care of.
- Dan (10/5): - Treated like a hometown friend, like in the small town I grew up in, even though it was my first time staying there. "Small town friendly" is a good description.
- Pete (10/5): - Great, friendly staff! Cabins are cozy, quiet, clean and great location to see so much in the area. Will definitely stay again!
- Susan (10/5): - Lovely place. Welcoming staff excellent location.
- sonia (10/5): - Our second stay at the Torch Inn, we so enjoy. The staff above & beyond excellent service. The room clean & cozy, this will be an annual trip for us.
- Patrick (10/5): - In town for a reunion, and this place was perfect. Clean room, big bed, great tv options, and front desk was super nice.
- brian (10/5): - Rooms were clean and staff was friendly.
- Reed (10/5): - Adorable place to stay, service was excellent.
- Charlotte Lynn (10/5): Nice little place - The lady at the front desk was beyond nice, my husband is a early riser she showed him how to start the coffee pot so he wouldn't have to wait.
- James (10/5): Charming - Very nice . Owners were happy to accommodate our late arrival. Easily the best value we’ve found in a while . Two thumbs up .
- Kevin (10/5): - Beautiful spot along the highway with a wonderful restaurant right across the street.
- Carla (10/5): - Perfect size cottage for two people. It has everything we needed for our four day stay. The bed was very comfortable, and kitchenette with coffee maker was sufficient. Cindy is a wonderful host.
- Janice (10/5): - Room was cute, clean and cozy. Manager was very kind.
- M (10/5): - This place is a little hidden gem. Staff is very personable. Our room was very clean and was super adorable. Great atmosphere. Definitely would come back again.
- Ralph (10/5): - What a great place! Very clean and quiet with wonderful hospitality.
- Linda (10/5): - The place had a very retro 60's/70's vibe with cute touches like pillows, light switches and keychains.
- Kimberly (10/5): - The staff was very friendly. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. Bathroom shower was modern and refreshing. Nice personal touches to the room décor. Nice outdoor sitting areas with outdoor firepit. Coffee, snacks, microwave, refrigerator is available to guests in a separate room at the inn. There is ice, water, soda etc. to purchase if needed. There is a nice restaurant across the street and a little coffee shop. I look forward to visiting again when I'm in the area.
- Sherry (10/5): - Such a great little hotel, conveniently close to Charlevoix. The rooms were clean in and the staff was very accommodating to my needs. They were cabins there as well, along with an outdoor fire ring to sit around. The one thing I wish I would’ve paid attention to in the details Was there was no small refrigerator in the room although they did have an ice machine to buy bags of ice. I would definitely stay there again.
- Dmitry (10/5): - Great cute clean room and very kind staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved Torch Bay Inn and are ready to book next years trip!
- Michael (8/5): - Wall AC was very near the head of the bed could be a problem for some. Mattress VERY firm. Folksy smallish room. Good room for one or two nights. Surprisingly quite for being right on highway31.
- Thomas (10/5): - Our room was very comfortable, and the staff was friendly. We would stay here again.
- Ann (10/5): - The owners take pride in their motel. There are cutesy things all over the property making it feel homey and not like another industrial hotel. My husband happened to have a heart attack on the beach down the way. The owner was there to open the room for the person who came to collect his medicine bag and then she came down to the beach to see if there was anything she could do. Your not going to find that at a hotel! No refrigerator or microwave in the room but a cute little kitchen on the property that has both.
- Joel (10/5): - Very nice. Low key. Went across the street and ate and watched some live music. They have a fire pit in the back.
- Susan (10/5): - The owner Cindy was great. Friendly and knew the area. The area was spotless. I would definitely go back.
- Brian (10/5): - Great experience.
- Nicole (10/5): - Clean and comfortable rooms! Walking distance to the Bay or Torch Lake. Friendly and accommodating staff. We will definitely be back.
- Michael (10/5): - I was in the area for a couple days on business and it worked out great me.
- Melissa (8/5): - Very nice owner with nice personal touches, comfortable bed, great area out back to sit. We enjoyed the restaurant across the street, great food! And a mini mart & gas station a couple minutes away.
It is a bit noisy as it sits on a highway and could use some curtains on the window above the bed, it was very bright early in the morning.
- Richard (10/5): Quaint - Overall stay was good. Small clean room with a nice feel.
- Lois (10/5): - Very clean and the bed was very comfortable, the sheets were exceptionally soft.
- Debbie (10/5): - Our favorite place to stay in the torch lake area. Clean comfortable rooms
- Arlene (10/5): - Absolutely loved this property and staff. Couldn’t ask for a more unique place to stay.
- Danielle (10/5): - Clean, cute, comfy. We will definitely be back.
- Brian (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay here. The owner was friendly and the room was clean and well decorated. Will definitely stay again
- Audrey (10/5): - Our room was tiny but oh so quaint and cozy.
- Christina (10/5): - Perfect for a little stay. Clean rooms and friendly staff
- Claudia (10/5): - The room was homely and Cindy was awesome! I will definitely book this place again!
- Aaron (8/5): - Nice place
- Jean-Christophe (8/5): - The property was very clean and the rooms well appointed. The location is fantastic to torch lake and the boat ramp. They have a cute little room with coffee and snacks as well as a full size frig to use and an ice machine outside that sells bags of ice. The fire pit area was nice in the evening. Our only complaint was the bed size. Apparently at this property a queen is a double. We got thru it but a bigger bed would mean a better sleep.
- Marla (8/5): - Very peaceful. Quaint and unique.
- Wilfred (8/5): - We liked the personal touch of all the decorations in and around the property
- Peggy (8/5): - We had a nice stay for a few days.

- Cathy (10/5): - Quick overnight at Torch Lake. Very clean & simple room that met our needs. We slept with the windows open…delightful. Fresh coffee & snacks in the morning to start our day. Friendly check-in. Great restaurant nearby for dinner & breakfast. Reasonable price for a hotel room. THANK YOU!! They have cottages, too, but they were booked.

They make you feel right at home!! We will be back!
- Doug (10/5): - This is a quaint roadside motel that has a definite vintage feel but has been very well restored. Our bed was super comfortable and we loved the little coffee room in the morning and the fire pit at night. We only stayed one night while traveling through but would absolutely come again for a longer stay.
- Paul (10/5): - This is our second time staying here, and it won’t be our last. We stayed in one of the cabins and it was quiet, comfortable and spacious. And Cindy is just the absolute nicest person, she makes you feel so welcome. Great location, easy parking, very clean and a great price. We love it!
- Sandra (10/5): - Very friendly owners and staff!
- Catherine (10/5): - Property was well maintained
- Lena (8/5): - Super clean. Cindy was a fabulous host. Gorgeous beach 1/2 mile away.
- Russell (8/5): - Lovely up-north setting. Room was clean and cute. Minor gripes: noisy bathroom exhaust fan and sticking bathroom door. Quite a bit of road noise during the day, but it was quiet at night. I would recommend this place.
- donald (10/5): - Hands on owner
- David (10/5): - Cool little place to crash.
Really friendly people in the coffee room.
- Helena (10/5): - It was a great friendly hotel. very comfortable. close to a few things. I wish a few more restaurants were in the area. Staff was friendly and area was really clean.

- Kevin Ray (6/5): - Overpriced.
- scott (10/5): - Relaxing sitting area behind rooms - with a propane fire place.
- Mary (10/5): weekend getaway - We came up to visit Torch Lake it was beautiful! Very cute quaint little room perfect for our stay... We were able to park the boat for free onsite which was nice. Cindy was great i had to have called her 10 times before we got there she always answers and helped with ally questions! I highly recommend and will stay again!
- Lauren (10/5): Cute little getaway! - Lovely cute little inn! The grounds were adorable. Near beaches and a walkable restaurant! The coffee bar area was wonderful and being able to use a microwave was awesome!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff, clean rooms, and smells wonderful too.
- Grace (8/5): - Could of served bottled water for free!

- Verified traveler (8/5): - We love to stay here because it's just across the road to our Brother and Sister-in-law cottage on Torch Lake. We like to have our own room and bathroom when coming up for a visit.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Stay! - Torch Bay Inn provided us with a great stay while we were in the area for a wedding. The room was clean and exactly what we needed. The communal space was also a lovely treat and we loved that it was available for us and the rest of the guests at Torch Bay Inn.
Thank you Cindy for providing us with a great place to stay while up north.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The rooms were very clean and well maintained. I like how the rooms are decorated with old pieces furniture. It added character to the room. I would highly recommend this Inn.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Owner was very pleasent and helpful
- Luis (10/5): - Cottage was exceptionally clean, staff very friendly. We enjoyed the convenience of walking to Torch lake and Lake Michigan.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The room was lovely and very clean. My only complaint was that it faced a busy highway.
- Paul (10/5): - Exactly what we were looking for 😊
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good Choice at a Good Price - We stayed in the rooms and they were quite cozy. Love the updated bathroom. Most importantly the rooms were CLEAN. It is a cute area, and I would love to come back and stay in the cabins. The only con I can think of is that the walls are paper thin, but it wasn't that big of a deal for us since we were only there to sleep.
- Ma Carmel (10/5): - The cottage was adorable! Everything was clean! We will definitely come back!
- Michele (10/5): - The owners were awesome & very accommodating! Definitely would stay there again!
- Daniel (10/5): - Perfect spot to sneak away to. Clean room and nice people.
