Guest Reviews
- Andrew (9/5): -
- Mark (8/5): A lovely location which we would recommend. Some nice touches and welcoming host. - Location was excellent - a very tranquil setting and close to everything, airport, shops and tourist destinatlons. Breakfast facilities were very good with everything we needed provided for a 'healthy start' to the day. Did have to ask for low fat milk, but that was provided prompty on request. Loved the sitting room area, with log fire - very cosy and comfortable. Met some very nice fellow travellers to share a wine with, which was a bonus! I did find the best too soft for my liking, not great support. Need it as we get older! Also bedding, whilst clean, could have been better quality - and probably pressed!
- Alison (9/5): - Great position and setting, comfortable light filled room with high ceilings, good guest facilities and fabulous muesli made by the host, Richard. It was a bonus meeting Richard on arrival as he set the scene of a warm comfortable place to stay. Photo of the room didn't do it justice.
- John (1/5): Dirty with uncomfortable beds. - Fly screens installed in the bedroom and bathroom and the view from the balcony The beds were two beds pushed together with no topper so there was a gap in the middle. The communal kitchen needs a thorough clean and really the rest of the building. Cobwebs, sticky door handles and a clump of hair on the floor in our bathroom. The breakfast was below par with minimal choice, the bananas in the fruit bowl were literally black. Showering in the morning at 9:30am and the hot water ran out. Definitely not up to “luxury” standards.
- Simon (3/5): Uncomfortable beds and not cleaned properly I wouldn’t stay here again - Large room Mattress needs replacing, not clean.
- Duncan (10/5): -
- Kylie (4/5): Good location and spacious room, but was below standard for a Deluxe Studio in all other areas. - The room was spacious, but that is where the positives end. Site didn't identify kitchen was shared at the time. The 'good breakfast', was directed to containers of cereal in a cupboard, with bread, eggs and yoghurt in the fridge. Uncomfortable worn beds with hard line down the centre (2 singles pushed together). Booking was for a Deluxe Studio and definately was below standard.
- Gemma (10/5): Wonderful stay in Kerikeri - Fantastic place to stay we loved it!
- Alex (9/5): Lovely two night getaway in a beautiful bushland setting. - Lovely setting in serene bushland location. Private and comfortable. Lovely host and support staff. Parking was a little inconvenient.
- Adrienne (10/5): Could not have picked a better place. Walking distance from an amazing restaurant - The room was amazing. Bed comfortable great shower spacious. Clean The WiFi needs a lot of work. Tv could not even connect the only thing wrong!!
- Tiffany (10/5): Lovely relaxing retreat - Beautiful tranquil environment
Super clean and comfy beds
Also terrific breakfast food and area
- Ray (8/5): Really enjoyed sitting out amongst the canopy of trees. Great stroll to the Plough & Feather. - East to relax and feel stress free. We were not used to an open kitchen shared with others, however absolutely fine.
- Cathie (9/5): -
- hanson (8/5): Friendly host and comfortable stay -
- Vicki (10/5): Perfect short stay for a couple. - Excellent selection of options in the shared kitchen. It is a small lodge and we left early so it was quiet and peaceful. Nothing really. As long as the travelers are aware that there is not cooking facilities in the rooms it will exceed most peoples expectations.
- Philip (7/5): -
- ShirleY (1/5): N/A - Never happened, Left in the hour.
The accomodation was very dissatisfied, due to the smell of mildew,we went out on the deck and discovered dozens of ants.
We understood as advertised there was breakfast, for example eggs Benedict.
Spoke to Richard and he replied no that he has supplied cereal yoghurt bread.and sorted jams.
Very disappointed after travelling a distance.
I would appreciate full payment back.
- Ben (10/5): - Amazing comfortable beds, we slept so well. Had everything we needed and could have wanted. Beautiful balcony and view. Nothing could have been better
- Greg (8/5): -
- Bret (9/5): -
- Sharon (7/5): - It was in a quiet location, away from busy town centre,, close to old store house, Kemp House and excellent Plough & Feather restaurant. Room was large with great garden view. Im not a fussy, fussy type and our room was good and large enough but believe it needed a more detailed clean in certain spots.

- Deborah (10/5): - Nice location near Stone store, private and quiet also very spacious room with private bathroom and access to kitchen facilities. Couldn’t have asked for more. Excellent value for money and wouldn’t hesitate to return. Thank you to our host.
- Robyn (9/5): Beautiful surroundings & comfortable stay - It was a comfortable, clean accommodation with beautiful surroundings. We LOVED the heated floor & mirror in the bathroom. It was nice to have a little fridge in our own room. It was warm & welcoming. In NZ it gets dark very early in the winter. We arrived after dark & it was very difficult to see the sign on the road, find the entrance to get in & the lighting was not patron friendly. That was our only frustration. When we got inside & found our room, the stay was very nice.
- Farah (9/5): Superb - Clean and comfortable and safe Bread for breakfast. Few basic veggies like Onions and tomatoes for breakfast
- Nancy (8/5): Very pleasant stay. - The location was great as close to the Plough & Feather. Very quiet too.
Roomy and very cosy and high ceilings make it seem bigger. Nothing really.

- Julia (10/5): beautiful airy space with breakfast provided - the space was lovely. everything we needed. loved the kitchen and lounge and outdoor areas. pity we were only staying a night! the room was quite cold and I felt like I needed a warmer duvet or thick blanket.bthe air con was noisy to run while sleeping.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karen (6/5): Pleasant - Beautifull setting if you love naturel NZ bird life. 5 wood pigeons graced us with there presents for breakfast, magic. Location, peace & quiet sun shine.
- Ashna (10/5): Would recommend to everybody!!!!! I would probably not be on an international trip to NZ again. Will remember this one a - So much extra effort by owner - was amazing as it was my brother in law 60th birthday & we didn’t want to go out so we made a home cooked meal - he’s. Vegetarian
The fireplace 😍 the use of kitchen & the lounge was really a treat after a long drive from Rotorua Nothing
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - The room was spacious and stylish. The common-area lounge and kitchen were well equipped and complete. There were several good choices as part of the self-serve breakfast.
- Lorraine (10/5): - Our host was totally relaxed and very pleasant. Building the lodge was a labour of love for him. It’s in a beautiful bush setting and he is very knowledgeable about the area.
- Jeffries (7/5): Short but enjoyable - Lovely options for breakfast with a well set up kitchen and dinning area.
- Natasha (10/5): - Thoroughly enjoyed our stay even though the weather was miserable. Room was spacious and had everything we needed and then the shared kitchen and lounge made it easy to make food instead of eating out every meal. Would come back again!
- Gavin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Miranda (10/5): - Loved the high ceiling, native bush and lovely little touches like the natural haircare and skincare products

- Michelle (10/5): We were only there for a quick 8 hrs to get a good nights sleep, we would love to come back! - We didn’t have time for breakfast. The location was fantastic. There is nothing we didn’t like.
- Tess (7/5): Peaceful lodge close to a part of Kerikeri with more nature. - Lovely staff! Good location: not far away from the city center, conveniently close to the river track and more peaceful part of the city.
Had everything we needed for a pleasant stay.
Beautiful building, rooms with an open balcony. It’s the tiniest note, but a few spots could use some cleaning. And I do understand the bond and respect this place has with nature, but we felt a slight neglect here and there.
Which didn’t affect our stay hugely. And we definitely recommend this property to other travelers!
- Helen (10/5): - Lovely comfortable stay at The Stone Store Lodge. Beautiful, peaceful setting amongst the trees. Loved the kitchen and lounge areas and being able to have breakfast there. Particularly enjoyed the granola!
- Nanette (8/5): Peace and quiet - We enjoyed our stay.
Wonderful large windows and balcony overlooking the bush.
Excellent choice for breakfast.
Very quiet, would highly recommend this property.

- Sam (10/5): Lively, very close to beautiful walks, falls & Stone Store - Location and warmth of the home. Stephanie was very welcoming. Very quiet, perfect for couple stay. Good facilities, relaxing atmosphere. Enjoyed making our own breakfast and not having to schedule a time. Nothing
- Debbie (9/5): Beautiful setting, great facilities - Spacious private room. Great shared kitchen and huge lounge areas. We enjoyed a simple dinner in this area.Lovely breakfast provisions. Entrance is not welcoming, thought we had arrived at a backpackers when in fact it was amazing accommodation.
- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (7/5): Good -
- Jane (8/5): Stunning location for a peaceful stay - Beautiful surroundings. Quiet. Small and private. Balcony looking over bush. Birdsong. Proximity to basin, walks and excellent pub. Use of kitchen and DIY breakfast things provided. Some of the items were a bit tatty. The towels had holes and the soaps were very watered down - I agree 100% with looking after the environment, but this felt a bit unfair given the cost and quality in other areas being so good (heated floor in bathroom, heated towel rail).
- Sonia (9/5): This is a great location, lovely spacious room with excellent kitchen, lounge and dining area. -
- Deborah (10/5): Great accommodation with amazing views. - The views from the room were amazing! We were living in the tree tops!
The room was spotlessly clean and comfortable with a great shower room. The kitchen area was well-equipped and we were able to make our breakfast at our leisure and to sit looking at another amazing view.
We had a wonderful stay with Richard and are already booked to return. Nothing to dislike.
- Robert (10/5): A great place to stay! 10/10 - Great clean, private, airy room with a very peaceful forrest outlook.

- Shelley (9/5): Superb -
- Murray (10/5): Very nice property, friendly staff, lovely bush backdrop. - Clean, quiet, close to town. Mini bar fridge was very noisy. Sounded like someone was in your room making a cup or tea 👻
- Stuart (8/5): Memorable -
- Marianne (9/5): Superb - Friendly owner/manager. Quiet location nestled into hillside with wonderful bird life. Drapes were dusty and we had to take a different room due to size and shape of bed for my 6ft 6 husband.
- Charles (7/5): Good - It would have been great to have extra towels.
- Lynette (10/5): - A lovely spot, very well appointed, upmarket furnishings etc and very very comfortable. A luxurious feel.
