- Norbs (1/5): Avoid at all cost. No joke. - Where do I even begin. I never really wrote a bad review, or a let alone a review. Here we go. We booked Puri Payogan for 2 weeks 1 year in advance and based on the pictures we were beyond excited. It was such an insane disaster that we did not even stay a single night after checking in. It was extremely dirty, extremely moldy, very dirty bathtub, 1 almost finished toilet paper by the toilet. The mold is coming in so hard its pushing the paint off the wall man.. You can't miss it. Why nobody did anything? I swear no one cleaned this room, nobody cared about anything, dirty windows, dirty glass. Hot water knob was missing from the bath, there was no hot water and we were told "you can't use hot water, mabe fix tomorrow" no one told us about that before hand and they knew. And MAYBE? Very dirty pillows on the bed, outside pool is very very dirty like there was fog in the water like you wouldn't wanna get anywhere near it. After seeing all this there was a guy at the reception who barely spoke english, was very inconpenetent for this job, a very nice guy though but he was totally lost. We asked him to call someone here because this is unacceptable, we want a full refund immediately. The whole place and room was inhumane. We have been to a lot of hotels but this was more of a kennel for dogs. Whoever this guy called about the issue they were laughing on the other end of the phone and after hanging up he said they said no refund. And we didnt take no for an answer. I asked him to call them back, tell them to come here, call the owner, and we will talk eye to eye in that "room" full of mold and dirt. Then he said okay they started the refund process. We are still in their what's up chat meaning they did not check us out when we asked them to do. On Booking I still had the hotel listed like I'm staying there. No one did anything or give a damn. We never complained anywhere but this was crazy, we just did not matter at all.
- Gracie (4/5): Disappointed, we decided to leave two days early despite all the money we paid. - The staff were friendly, the bed was comfortable and shower was quite big. We booked the private pool villa however the pool was not private and could be viewed by anyone in the entrance, there was also cameras on the pool. We were told we could get breakfast at the property which wasn’t true. The reception was out for two days of our stay. The listing says free shuttle around ubud area but that was also not true. When I arrived I had to pay over $100 more than what I was supposed to.
- Julian (5/5): Nice area, but needs an overhaul and checklists for cleaning and supply of consumables - We returned for the 4 th year like the area Same issues with driveway, musky room, could not breathe had to be moved to another room. Asked daily for toilet paper, it was ridiculous, places need new netting and curtains, never been cleaned. No hand towels, bath towels are so old they are falling to bits, all rooms need to be scrubbed with hot soapy water and some elbow grease, ventilation fans need to be cleaned regularly to get rid of mould.

- Bronwyn (10/5): - Our group of 2 kids and 2 adults (Mum and Grandma) stayed 3 nights. We wish we'd stayed longer, or transferred from Kuta earlier. We stayed in the 2 bedroom villa with private pool, and felt the whole experience was restful and relaxing. The pool was lovely, and the set up of the villa with 2 separate bedrooms and an open living space was nice. The property is quite secluded but does still have a bit of local traffic/activity noise as the villa is located at the front. That would be something to consider if you are fussy sleepers. However, most of the noise was actually wildlife-related, including some friendly frogs and birds. We found this quite charming and it added to the 'retreat' feel. The property is a little out of the way, only a short distance from the town centre by readily-available taxi. However, we noted that exploring on foot was quite treacherous for children and older people, given busy traffic and complete lack of road berm/pedestrain pavements in the area. Great things about this property are the lovely staff, beautiful private villa pool, sense of privacy and tranquility, friendly wildlife, spacious villa, lots of hot water for showers, comfortable beds with mosquito nets, air conditioning, clean facilities. The main thing to be wary of is the fragile plumbing system (very standard in Bali). But with correct procedure, things are fine. Also note that the self catering equipment is very limited. But who wants to cook on holiday anyway? Would recommend.

Las paredes chorreadas. Los muebles sucios, el baño olia a orines de meses. Cero aseso y cero mantenimiento. Era una reserva de 6 noches y solo me quede la primera ya que llegue a media noche. Inmediatamente despertando nos cambiamos a otro hotel

There were so many steps up to our room. The rooms were not cleaned properly, the sink was leaking. The location was good it was quiet as it wasn’t too central but the path down to the hotel was extremely bumpy. There were also flies and ants in the room.

- Luke (9/5): Gorgeous accommodation in a perfect location - I absolutely loved my stay here. The suite room was far bigger than I expected with fantastic value for money. The staff were nothing but fantastic, always saying hello, offering any help and smiling away. The grounds were great and the location is brilliant as it's still very peaceful and quiet just outside of town. The bathroom was next level amazing with a huge stone bathtub and a huge size. I really loved the stay The room was overall clean and I was pleased, but if I had to choose one thing, it could have been a tad cleaner.

Das Frühstück wurde aufs Zimmer gebracht, was ziemlich Luxus war. Die Qualität des Essens war gut. Der Pool war nicht ganz sauber, hatte das Gefühl, dass die Umwälzpumpe defekt ist. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, jedoch dürfte es 1-2 Mitarbeiter mehr vertragen. Die Internetverbindung war mal an, dann wieder aus. Da müsste was gemacht werden.

- Sophie (10/5): - I booked a suite for 5 nights and decided to extend because I really liked it. A little bit outside of Ubud but easily accessible by scooter, and there are a few shops and restaurants within walking distance. Everyone working here was super friendly and my room was beautiful. The rooms are only accessible through stairs which might be an issue for some people. A water fountain at reception would be nice to have, but that is really the only potential improvement I can think of. Overall, I would really recommend staying here!

Had emailed hotel in advance to let them know that my arrival time would be after midnight due to a late flight and they confirmed that the checkin was available. On arrival to the hotel at about 1:30am I could not find anyone despite ringing bells and phone. It was lucky that another guest was leaving on a very early tour and they pointed out the hotel staff room - my driver managed to wake the staff. Apart from that the hotel is okay. Room was okay although when I dropped an item behind a cupboard, on retrieving it I found a lot of dirt and dead insects and dried out food.

The property itself is quite beautiful, with many steps! Two out of our three rooms were a little mouldy and hence smelly. Thankfully one of our group who was not satisfied was quickly upgraded to a larger room.

- Essa (10/5): Had a memorable experience anyhow. - Loved the feel of 'remoteness' yet handy to scenic walks and conveniences. Lived amongst the locals who fished in the river - beautiful to see. Unfortunately there is no onsite restaurant, it is 5 mins away and food was average.
- Akshaya (6/5): Pleasant - Bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious Hotel entrance road- narrow and seems dangerous, even with cars. We were quite shocked on arrival. We had a two bedroom villa with a private pool with the following issues: No soundproofing - unable to get good night sleep/afternoon naps.. as you can hear everything from outside your room. Our bedroom's one wall was close to the entrance road, so you could hear people walking, talking, cars etc. there were youngsters catching fish outside from all morning and afternoon, they were talking loudly, hooting and laughing loud. Constant construction noise in background. On the other wall, they had Rooster cages, crowing in the middle of the night, early morning, and afternoons... I hated the stay there. Smell: Mouldy smell in room, one room was stinking. Cleanliness: There were black worms in bathroom, spider and webs next to bed heads. Coackroach, ants spiders in the kitchenette. Towels and bed sheets were stained. Breakfast was included in our booking- it wasn't buffet, limited serves. They used to take order of food the night before, one dish and one juice + tea or coffee. The pool was cold and dirty, with no fresh water flowing, just stagnant water.
- Jungah (8/5): Rustic jungle villas amidst natural surroundings. - Jungle villas amidst bamboo and banana trees. Delicious breakfast served on the balcony. Outside the busy areas of Ubud- tranquil and authentic Bali area. Staff was very friendly and eager to help- went above and beyond. Upper deck, corner room #109 had a great view of the jungle canopy. Very humid and somewhat musty. Bathrooms needed to be deep cleaned and thoroughly scrubbed down to remove grime. Neighbors burn things each day so there can be acrid smoke lingering outside so need to keep doors shut. Stairs and wooden deck with moss could be slippery after the rains.

The bathroom needed a deep cleaning (scrub the sink, toilet and shower) as there was some grime and mold. Musty smell at times

- Robert (7/5): Good 3 Star hotel in a quiet place to be. - Very gentle personel. We have had a water damage in our room but the stuff has fixed it within one day and one night we have had an other room. We decided to make a trip and have not reserved breakfast for the next day but because of rain we stay in hotel. Personal came to our room to ask if we would like to have breakfast even we don't have reserved. This was very nice :) Any other disadvantages have been cleared out fast by personel when we talk about. So yeah, very good Service. Fridge in the room The big appartement has enough space for two Person to stay longer with lot of luggage. We kept in mind that the hotel is directly in the nature so we know about some gekkos insects. To ubud its about 10 Minutes by scooter. The room could have cleaned up more detailed, such simple Things as mounting the water Taps right, checking the lamps for functioning bulbs....just easy stuff to Check before guests were arriving

- Sabina (8/5): Amazing outdoor to feel you are in a real jungles. - The outdoor of hotel is just amazing. Stuff do it better to make your stay comfortable. Breakfast are very delicious and various. The location is not so close to the Ubud center, but we saw it before booking, so we were ready to walk and did it. There is some smell of wetness, but we think it is because the hotel located just in a middle of a real jungles, so it is not so sunny there and it’s normal. Still, the place is very beautiful.

The only slight downside is that the chickens woke us up a little early, but other than that no complaints :) 10/10

- Singh Kavitha Kaur (4/5): - This place is suitable for those who would like to live in a jungle setting and those who just need an accomodation to sleep and to place their things. In short, I didn't enjoy my stay as the place is secluded and I feel like I was staying in the middle of the jungle and if you're ok with a soggy surrounding( it rains alot there) then this is your place. However, what I really liked about that place is the staff's humility and friendliness. They were really wonderful.

- Hannah (6/5): lovely room but damp and deceptive garden view - lots of nature noises constantly. really nice, big room and comfy bed friendly staff quiet, barely saw other guests breakfast on your balcony every morning nice breakfast, if you ask them for less garlic (coming from a massive garlic lover) we booked a garden view room due to the pictures of it on here, these are very deceptive as it makes out they are the high up rooms with a balcony/jungle around, this isnt the case, book a pool view or suite. so we were put into a pool view room without explanation, the garden view room left has a terrible smell of damp is why. our room smelt of damp still which wasnt nice. it is just a very damp, humid location. the shower looks good like a big rain shower but was quite weak for hair washing. little road down to the hotel was very dodgy, have to go very steady on scooters. pool was quite cool but fine once in.

Yudi) staff (Kadek, Madi Jen, little Jon :), bangbang, bedro, and others thank you all for making us happy and feel like home. above all this am Happy and greatful for E2C restaurant managment and their generousity at Nypei Day (we love you). PURI PAYOGAN WILL ALWAYS BE MY HOME AT UBUD BALI WITH FOOD FROM E2C RESTAURANT AND EATURRY. THANK YOU ALL FOR BEST 6 DAYS IN MY LIFE ZAHIR OTHMAN BEST REGARDS. EVERY THING IS GOOD EXEPT FOR THE ROAD FROM MAIN STREET TILL VILLA ENTRANCE NEEDS TO BE RE INFRASTRUCTERED AND NEEDS GOOD LIGHTENNING DRAINAG SYSTEM IN TOILET (SHOWER) IS WEAK AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. TOILET PAPER HOLDER MUST AT RIGHT FRONT OR LEFT FRONT NOT AT BACK. POOL EDGES NEED TO BE CURVED ALL AROUND.

- Liv (6/5): helpful staff, tucked in the jungle, good value - great location tucked away in the jungle, the staff were amazing and went above and beyond to accommodate us. the room we checked into had a really bad damp smell and the door didn’t close properly, leaving a big gap for bugs to come in. The smell was so bad we asked the staff if there was anything they could do to help and they very kindly moved us to a different room which has no bad smell and was much more comfortable. really appreciate their help!

- Michaela (10/5): Exceptional - I had the best experience with Puri Payogan, so I immediately recommended it to my friends who checked in the day after me. I guess it's the real prove how happy I was in there. The staff was incredibly nice, the view was fantastic, my room was nice and clean. If I needed, I'd definitely come back again. :-) The only thing which should be fixed (in my opinion) is the road leading to the hotel. It's really broken and bumpy and can be a little uncomfortable for people who aren't very confident with riding their scooters.

Lots of stairs to our room - it was a little difficult to move our luggage up three separate flights of staircases but the staff were so friendly and willing to help.

- Karolis (5/5): Overrated place with beautiful outdoor - Beautiful outdoor, nicely decorated, room was spacious, great location, near Ubud. Big pool Cold water in shower, impossible that two person get hot water, so you have only a few minutes it and don’t expect to have it all time. Breakfast was poor, first day we get Mie goreng, but looks like made it from instant noodles. A lot of ants in a room, in a bathroom. Staff was smiling and would like to help you but in reality they just smile it. When we want to rent a scooter, they just called in one spot and they don’t have any scooter, so we should found it by ourself. wi-fi was very poor. you need to log in dozen times, because if you dont use it for few minutes wifi disconnects

- carole (10/5): - Personnel toujours aux petits soins (comme dans tout Bali), discret et d'une grande gentillesse. Hôtel un peu perdu dans la jungle, atmosphère tres agréable. Chambres très propres et materiaux nobles. Une baie vitrée qui permet de contempler la forêt la nuit. Un peu loin du centre d'Ubud par contre si on est à pieds (au moins 40 minutes de marche).
