Guest Reviews
- Goriparthi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kaira (7/5): Overall a great place to be for a couple, amazing location, great host and a value for money. - The location of the property is great it’s very very close to the fort kochi area, you can even easily walk over for dinner and lunch to some great restaurants. The rooms were clean and tidy and Melissa was super sweet and helpful. The bathrooms could have been a little bit cleaner
- Karen (8/5): Great location, amazing food and awesome host! - Melissa was very helpful and kind with us and a really great cook and also organizing! It was our very first time and night in India and she cooked amazing Kerala food with all the love. We chatted for a while and she gave great recommendations! We also booked our driver to continue with the Kerala tour with them and also the Kathakali show. I really really really recommend our driver Shaa, he was the best! We had a lot of fun and he was a great driver and now friend. From Reds we could go everywhere with the Tuk-tuk and we loved it! Thank you Melisa!!! Our room was nice but I would have liked to find the shower cleaner.
- Federico (10/5): Exceptional - Location, and really friendly host. The room was spacious and clean with A/C
- Alain (10/5): Exceptional - I like all. Melissa very sympatique professional
- Maya (9/5): Highly recommend! Mellisa is great :) - Lovely property, slightly away from hustle of Fort Kochi which we liked. Mellisa is a superstar, she made our stay easy and comfortable, all her recommendations were great and she goes above and beyond to ensure you have a pleasant stay, she even upgraded our room halfway through our stay! Johnson the recommended TukTuk driver was a legend, gave great town tours!Breakfast was also yummy! No hand soap in bathroom!
- Justin (10/5): Highly recommended - Very cute and homely. Melissa went up and beyond to ensure a more than pleasant stay.
- Vijay (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mitra (10/5): Exceptional - I had a truly wonderful experience staying at Reds Residency - Homestay in Fort Kochi. The rooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean, and the overall ambience was excellent. From the very first day, Melissa was exceptional—she provided us with so much helpful information and made us feel right at home.
She recommended a fantastic tuk-tuk driver named Johnson, who took us to all the must-see places around Fort Kochi. His service was outstanding and added so much value to our trip.
Melissa also treated us to delicious homemade authentic Keralan breakfasts, which were a highlight of our mornings. She even went out of her way to book tickets for a Kathakali dance performance, which was an unforgettable experience.
I was so impressed by the warm hospitality and thoughtful touches throughout our 2-night stay. Thank you, Melissa, for making our visit so memorable!
Sanghamitra Nothing so far. Liked every bit of our stay.
- Iona (10/5): Really friendly and knowledgeable homestay host! - My partner and I only stayed at Reds Residency for one night as a stop-over, and we arrived pretty late, but the room was very comfortable and just what we needed. Although we didn't have much time, Mellisa was super friendly and helpful in the morning, showing us all the places to visit in Kochi and following up with messages and links to help us find our way around! Would definitely recommend!
- Isabel (9/5): Great stay in a cosy room in Fort Kochi with lots of activities to do! - Melissa gave us lots of recommendations in and around Kochi. She was super helpful and always responded very fast on our questions. We felt very safe and welcome at her place!
- Ridhi (10/5): - Loved how warmly Melissa welcomed us at the door. Beautiful homely atmosphere. Lotsa of plants and flowers.
Thank you Melissa for cutting the pineapple for my kids.
- Michael (10/5): Great host - Our first stop on our trip to India was at Reds Residency. Mellisa looked after us very well and helped us to settle in. She was super friendly to us and her support was very valuable.
- Sophie (10/5): cute and friendly stay to explore Cochi from!! - Melissa was a great host who gave us wonderful recommendations and organised activities for us! the breakfast was delicious and the room was comfortable and spacious - very good value for money!! a great spot to explore Cochi from! it is 15 mins walk from central fort Cochi but this was fine for us and in a nice quiet location outside of the tourist hub!
- Tracey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sudhakar (2/5): Very poor - My room was on the third floor (2 + ground). No elevator, and no help to move the bags. The 3rd floor landing was grimy with moss. There were no equipment to make coffee or tea, The bathroom had plumbing from god knows when, and the taps got scalding hot. Only one towel was provided. The ac unit was ancient and noisy. The four poster bed was rickety, and the right post about 4 feet long fell and nearly cracked my head while I was sleeping. I usually don't give bad reviews, though I told the young woman who collected the payment about the post nearly falling on my head. She apologized and claimed that she didn't have time to fix it as it was Sunday. After I had paid and checked out, she attempted to extort money for the broken headpost and threatened to call the tourist police. I have a series of texts where she admits I told her about the broken head post.. I told her to take a hike and complained to Booking.com. I have booked rooms all over the world on the past 10 years with booking.com. Never experienced such knavery. Stay away from this place! See above
- Aline (10/5): Great location and amazing host for a small price - Amazing location, walking distance of everything to see in Fort Kochi. Melissa is a great host, very nice, providing a lot of advices and very helpful. She likes what she is doing, so we felt home with her. The breakfast is also incredible (we didn’t need a lunch afterwards). Last but not least, the rooms are very clean and comfortable. Nothing really.
- Nicoletta (10/5): Exceptional - Melissa is a fantastic hostess!
She arranged everything we needed. She gave us the best suggestions, she is very fast in organizing everything for you. She is lovely and she does everything with love! Her breakfast is an art work that she prepers dedicating personal time for every single guest. She shows off kerala cuisine and also excellent western breakfasts.
- Jo (8/5): Overall a lovely place to stay. Authentic Keralan Homestay with wonderful staff. Highly recommend! - We had a wonderful stay at Reds Residency. Mellisa went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and well looked after. She helped arrange Tuk Tuks, advised us on local sites to visit and stayed in good communication via Whatsapp throughout our whole trip. We were delighted with the authentic Keralan breakfast that was prepared for us each morning. The room was basic but very sufficient and the beds big and comfortable. The only downside was the noisy road outside our room but it wasn't a problem at night as the traffic died down (and we had earplugs!)
- Caroline (9/5): Enjoyable stay! - Nice comfortable room, great hostess (Melissa), location worked well for us as about 1km walk to “main” tourist spots. The breakfast (which we paid 500 rupees each for) was delicious and beautifully presented. The only disappointment was the cost of laundry - would almost have been cheaper to buy replacement clothes!! Unjustifiably expensive!
- James (10/5): Mellisa was super helpful and very welcoming. Breakfast and coffee every morning was great. She was always available for - The host Mellisa was super helpful. She gave me a great guided map of Fort Kochi and some of the surrounding area. She arranged a cab to pick me up from the airport, help set up an Indian Sim for me and helped me book any activities within the area Nothing! It was a great!
- Anna (10/5): everythig. perfect - everythig perfect
- very nice host + a lot of activity tipps
- very nice location
- delicious breakfast -
- Martin (8/5): Quirky, with a lovely host, but fairly basic. - A fairly basic B&B, but redeemed by the wonderfully helpful and positive Melissa, for whom nothing was too much trouble. Noisy road outside, and a fair walk (or a tuk-tuk) to the Fort Kochi attractions. Noisy air-con.
- Dobrin (10/5): Excellent short stay in Kochi, room and breakfast were excellent, - Breakfast was outstanding, the location was walking distance to all the attractions. The host was very responsive and immediately established a line of communication following the reservation. Very professional and reassuring for someone coming to the area for the first time. I would recommend it to anyone new to Kochi.
- Emma (10/5): Beautiful Homestay Experience and wonderful Host!!! - Great location and beautiful home with lovely touches all around! Very well maintained and comfortable with some shared spaces to mingle! The host, Mellisa, is wonderful- helped us to navigate the area and services we required during our stay. It was an amazing experience ! All of my group enjoyed our stay,
- Nazar (9/5): Superb -
- Nazar (9/5): Superb -
- Sharon (10/5): Home from home 🏡 - Reds Residency is a hug in a small slice of paradise, Melissa is exceptional & goes out of her way to make your stay perfect ♥️ There was nothing to dislike!
- Gower (10/5): Exceptional - Our host, Mellisa, was brilliant. She helped us organise so much which meant we made the most of our time there. The little upstairs courtyard was beautiful and the atmosphere was great.
- Radhika (10/5): Excellent service - The service is amazing! Melissa helped with booking dance/ cultural events , ongoing travel arrangements, she even arranged medical assistance. Phillip was also very helpful arranging our backwater trip and a car for our journey. Thank you.
Reds is close to the action with sites a resultants/cafes within easy reach. Highly recommend .
- Daniel (7/5): Good - Helpful staff. Made us get the most out of our stay. Good communication. Location right between the touristy and local part of this area. Great to explore both. It felt a little overpriced for the room you are getting in terms of cleanliness and room comfort. Overall a good stay but not exceptional.
- Luke (10/5): Fantastic accommodating staff make this place a great stay - Amazing stay at Reds, can’t recommend it enough! We arrived early in the morning, and Melissa helped us create an itinerary for our stay on short notice. We followed all the recommendations for places to visit and eat, and had a fantastic couple of days around fort kochi and mantancherry. The room was comfortable and all the staff take great pride in providing the best stay for guests.
Oh, and the breakfast was out of this world, 4 courses and all amazing! Nothing
- Amodh (9/5): Excellent Hospitality! - Mellissa was extremely warm & helpful with the things to do around Fort Kochi. The rooms were clean with very quaint common areas. Check in was quick & efficient. A 15 minute walk away from main tourist areas.

- Mia (10/5): Exceptional - We absolutely loved our stay at reds residency. The property was great but it was Melissa and her team that were so helpful and valuable in making sure we had a great stay in Kochi. She organised so many activities and site seeing for us and was so generous with her time and knowledge. Rooms are spacious and the common area is nicely decorated.
Location is a bit out of the centre of fort Kochi but everything is still walkable
We would definitely recommend and stay here again

- Saptarshi (8/5): Very good -
- Bastian (10/5): Exceptional - Mellisa took great care of me, she helped me a lot to explore the area and arranged events for me. Every day she asked if I needed something and helped me out. -
- Tomasz (10/5): Host & Homestay made our weekend - Melissa was the most helpful homestay host ever, basically sorting out our whole weekend including an incredible cooking class. We would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. The room was big with working air conditioning and fans with a large fridge. Everything was very clean. Our experience of Cochin couldn't have been any better.
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Seetil (10/5): lovely homestay in kochi - We only had a short time in Kochi but Melissa helped us squeeze in a good sightseeing tour and delicious dinner. She also organised our driver and itinerary for the rest of our Kerala trip which was a huge help! The home made breakfast was great too
- Mahadevan (9/5): Great stay, value for money - Great location, in the heart of fort kochi, colonial era feeling for the entire building, filled with greenery. No lift so it is a bit difficult to get to 2nd floor
- John (9/5): Superb -

- Peter (8/5): Owner extremely helpful. Recommended lovely fish restaurant for our evening meal - Homely very welcoming Nothing
- Julia (8/5): Good value homestay but expect some quirks - My host Mellissa was very responsive and helpful with suggestions for outings during my stay, arranging taxis and tuk tuks etc. I liked that the communal breakfast room allowed interaction with other guests. Early check in was available. Unfortunately my room was at the front of the house overlooking the road so the road noise was quite consistent. The breakfasts were tasty but were no longer hot when arrived to the table. I never was able to get hot water out of the shower despite following instructions, but weather was so hot that a cool shower was acceptable. The location was a bit further away from the centre and local restaurants 15 mins walk away so rode a tuk tuk mostly
- Helen (10/5): Great place to stay in Fort Cochin - Reds was a very friendly place to stay. Melissa was incredibly helpful in arranging tickets and tours and finding out about onward bus travel. Breakfast was available at an extra cost and was a mixture of Indian and continental. My room and ensuite was comfortable and clean. I would thoroughly recommend staying here if you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay in Fort Cochin. I'd also recommend going on the early morning walking tour which Melissa can arrange. Not a problem for me but the homestay is a little way out of Fort Cochin, and though walkable it's along a busy road. There are lots of autos around.

- Ronald (9/5): If I'm back in Cochin, I would stay there again. - Excellent location. Staff was like family to me. Very helpful and kind. Well connected and knowledgeable. I appreciated their kindness and assistance in all areas. More flexibility around when breakfast is served would be nice for an early riser like myself.
- Bethan (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing, homely and welcoming. Melissa was so kind and helped plan our short time in Kochi to make sure we saw all the best sites and marked out the things to see & restaurants on a map for us. Comfortable, clean rooms and great location - short walking distance to main attractions. Nothing
- Caterina (8/5): Very good -
- Shereen (9/5): Superb - Reds Residency is one of the first homestays in Fort Kochi, started by a couple who love entertaining guests. The place has such a good vibe. Loved the breakfast, the cosy reading room and the garden. The owners were friendly, welcoming and really attentive to my needs. If you are looking for a home to stay in Fort Kochi, then this is it. Mosquitos! Fort Kochi is famous for that! Also, the room I booked was too small for my daily yoga practice. The next time I'm there, I'm definitely booking the larger rooms.
- Mansa (8/5): Very good -
- Reeve (8/5): Great homestay with lovely host. - Melissa is the highlight of homestay as she is very helpful with planning everything and giving recommendations. Location was convenient as could walk to fort Cochin. Room has all basic requirements and good AC. The shared living room has games and books. Home has many plants and flowers so is beautiful. Nothing to fault with stay here

- Russell (9/5): calm and comfortable - I enjoyed meeting Marianne the owner . Her attention to our needs and plans was a great bonus
- Orla (9/5): Nice place - The owner was very obliging she let me check in early and gave me some breakfast because I had arrived so early. The location was ideal for sight seeing in fort kochi. Clean room. My room was next to the road so it was noisy but fine with ear plugs.
- Sarina (9/5): Superb - The staff were friendly, informative and knowledgeable. They had created a beautiful environment, perfect for relaxation. Lovely breakfast!
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jasmine (10/5): Exceptional - Melisa was an absolute dream - she was so helpful at telling us what we should go and see in Fort Kochi. Her breakfasts were delicious, too! Room was clean and loved the cute courtyard covered in flowers outside. The bathroom could have been a little bit nicer, but that really didn't matter compared to everything else!
- Moira (8/5): Very good -
- Bethany (7/5): Nice, welcoming homestay - RR has lovely owners who made us feel welcome and provided lots of fab recommendations. The room we had was spacious and fairly clean. Although the walk to the centre of town is about 15-20mins, it’s a nice walk so we didn’t mind. The road outside our thin window was very loud even at night. We found ants in the room too (luckily just before checking out!). Couldn’t get hot water for the shower.
