Guest Reviews
- Wayne (10/5): - Our stay at Gili Air Lagoon was most enjoyable and of a tropical environment standard. The room was clean, cool and tidy and the staff were extremely helpful. The problem with reviews is that people tend to forget where they are and that they are on holidays. If you want alll the luxuries of home don’t go on holidays then. We go on holidays with no expectations and are always delighted and surprised by our experience, Gili Air Lagoon was another wonderful experience. From being serenaded on arrival to being provided with a great opportunity to live within this unique and wondrous part of Indonesia. It’s a 5 out of 5 from us and we hope to be back again real soon.
- sandra (6/5): - Good location and liked the pool that is right from the door. We did not have wifi working very well during stay. Air conditioning in room was not working great but when we complained it was fixed and was better. We forms food was overpriced at the resort. Did not eat at the resort much as I had ordered chicken wings with drinks and only 3 tiny wings came. There are plenty of reasonable food options within walking distance though.
- Brent (10/5): - Great resort will definitely go back
- Matti (10/5): Upea majoitus - Todella hieno ja viihtyisä paikka! Palvelu oli hyvää ja kaikki meni hienosti. Pienet miinukset olivat rikkinäinen tuuletin ja wc nappi, muuten kaikki toimivat hienosti.
- Anders Nils Ragnar (10/5): - Great service, personal and location were great, the pool cleaning could have been better.
- Terry (2/5): - This property was not how it was protrayed, the pictures of the rooms and surrounding property made it look much more up to date than it is. We stayed only one night of the week we had booked and moved to another resort on another island for duration of our vacation.
- Lisa (8/5): - Great location just off the beach. Staff are amazing and very helpful. Infinity pool by hotel restaurant/bar was great. View of the ocean. Only 6 loungers and no umbrellas. Breakfast included was basic but delicious. Rooms are definitely dated and could use updating. Lots of ants in room. Bathroom is part outdoor so very buggy. Always had hot water and air conditioner worked great. Lagoon pool is run down and needs cleaning. Not sure what use to be at the center of the pool but was being repaired during our stay. Wifi barely works.
- Randi (8/5): - The pool was great for kids, right at your doorstep. The property wasn't on the beach though, which I had thought it would be (perhaps my mistake). It was only a few minutes walk, so was ok. Staff was friendly & helpful. Overall, it was a decent place to stay.
- Philip (10/5): - Beautiful hotel on Gili Air with unique pool, comfortable rooms and great service
- Rod (10/5): - Very private due to the layout and small number of units
Staff very helpful
Staff and cats very friendly. Bring biscuits for the cats
Close to good restaurants and ferry
This is not related to the resort.
The sea is why we came. The businesses on the islands need to clean up all the rubbish in the water, probably not their fault but seeing all the plastics film and metal foil from packaging in the sea is a not going to make me come back. The ENVIRONMENT is your business.
If you can engage the tourists, give them fine net bags to collect the rubbish while they are in the water and return it. It the least we can do and its not hard.
- Anders (6/5): Ok budgethotell.
- Caralyn (10/5): - Loved the pool access, close to port , shops and restaurants.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Godt hotel - Rigtig godt hotel. Wifi virker fint. Servicen er i top.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - good pool very good poll good pool vergood pool very good poll good pool very good polly good poll
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This property looks nothing like the pictures on the Expedia website!!! My husband and I booked and paid for 3 nights and left after 1. The pool had a big calcium build up ring just above the waterline, the staff barely spoke english and the service at the pool bar sucked! The landscaping around the pool and the entire property was non existent, you might mention to potential guests that the island was hit by a 7 magnitude earthquake just over 12 months ago and they are still clearly recovering from that! I’d like a refund for the two nights that we didnt stay at a property we were ‘duped’ into booking by misleading images on your website. Please contact ASAP regarding a refund!!
- Fiona (10/5): - Having your own chaise lounge in your own private pool was superb. It was very quiet and tranquil. The staff were exceptional. Very romantic atmosphere. Close to the beach restaurants. There was a fabulous spa just on the corner. I will be back .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved the rooms and the pool area. Close to the beach area and friendly service
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great staff - The hotel has great potential, though it doesnt live up to it. They are working on rebuilding the place from the damage from the earthquake last year. The pool was Nice But had a lot of bugs and things in it. And the rooms were Nice, some small ants got in But Nothing major. The breakfast was not very good. But there are a lot of places nearby Where you can eat. But the service was amazing! Amazing staff! And I recon the hotel Will be great when the renovations are done
- Monica (4/5): Stay away - The hotel needs a lot of renevation. It does not look like that has happened in about 20-30 years. Our bedshits had marks in them because they’ve had big holes in them and the towsls had stains. Lot of spiderweb on the walls. I would not stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hotel. Pool was not so clean, Although the pool boy certainly did his Best. The Water Rotation is completely missing. Wi-Fi was poor.
- Benn (10/5): Best resort on the island - Gili air lagoon is in a great location near to the port and the main bars and restaurants. The staff were very friendly and always willing to help out, e.g. arranging our fast boat back to Bali and organising a good snorkelling tour.
The rooms were great and had everything needed. The pool was the best bit, with each room feeling like they have their own private space but, giving you space to swim and relax in a bigger pool if you want. Definitely think it's the best resort on the whole island.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It was the most disapointing experience I’ve ever had! and I travel a lot.
On arrival I was told I can’t check in as my room is going through some renovations and there’s no electricity... and that’s it!!! No sorry, no willingness to help me perhaps find another hotel! Shocking!! Wotif that was the last time I booked with you! and I’m not exaggerating. I realise that every company, even at this level can make a mistake like everyone else but the customer service was simply unacceptable! Put yourself in my shoes for a minute... you spend hours researching your dream destination and accomodation months before you go on a trip... then with time your excitement builds up and when you finally get there you are told you can’t check in!!! that’s not it! ....you still get charged for your entire stay!!! Very, very disappointing!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Pretty true to the pictures, not flash but comfortable. Pool is huge but rather warm.
- Martine Smedheim (10/5): - Friendly Staff. Ok breakfast. Clean. Im going back!
- Brian (10/5): Excellent Choice on Gili Air - Excellent choice on a charming island. Super glad we chose it.
Lovely staff!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - We were not impressed with this property. Upon arriving, we had to wait 15-20 min for someone to help check in. There was rarely easily accessible staff around the property. The room was ok but AC did not work properly and to say the room was hot was an understatement. The key to your room also controlled all power for the room including AC so anytime you leave, they expect it to be turned off, making the room even hotter. There walls of the inside of the lagoon were extremely deteriorated. There was construction going on around this area so hopefully it gets better but there was also no notice that we would be dealing with construction. Provided breakfast was average at best. Location of property has everything to be desired. You need to walk aways or ride a bike in either direction to get anywhere. You also have to walk down an alley next to an open field filled with trash that smelled awful to get to the property. We will not be returning.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Rather disappointing 🙁 - Unfortunately, the hotel is really run down and urgently needs some renovations done. Some staff were friendly others were weird, asking question about immigration to Australia and how much we earn. Breakfast could have been better, but was alright. It's probably the worst location on the island, we spent all our time far away. No free bicycles which is a shame considering the price of the hotel. Overall a bit disappointing and we can't recommend this place.
- Yen Ying (6/5): Small rooms, great poolside access, but old - My sisters and I stayed at Gili Air Lagoon Resort for 2 days. It's a short walk from the harbour, and close to shops and restaurants. However, the air conditioning didn't work properly in our room, and despite having it on full blast and having the fan on, the room remained really warm. The room is also quite small, and ideal only for 2 people. As there were 3 of us, the staff kindly provided a third bed, but it further limited our space. The bathroom was the nicest thing about the room. Poolside access was great, but the hotel was quite run down and old. Wifi connectivity was also temperamental at best.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really enjoyed it wud recommend it to stay there pool was really good and staff happy
- Wong (10/5): Comfortable stay - Hotel is near the harbour at a convenient location. We were greeted by helpful staffs upon arrival. Recommended hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): Its nice hotel and friendly staff! - We stayed there for 4 nights and it was comfortable and relaxing the staff are really nice the hotel is just a bit dated but all in all good, the only thing was there is a dump outside in the street and sometimes when the wind change you can smell it which is not very nice but that is not the hotels fault!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Okay but dated and better options around - The photos make the hotel look better than it is. The rooms are fairly worn and overall the hotel is looking old and has some serious maintenance issues. Concrete planter boxes facing the pool are crumbling and one is held together with rope to stop it falling in the pool. The pool bar didn’t have any beer the day we arrived and only lemon beer the remainder. Breakfast was pretty standard. Riding around the island there seem to be a lot of nicer looking places (look into The Scandinavian Gili Air and Pinkcoco as two which looked new and worth visiting).
- Richard (6/5): Tired, better available - Staff were friendly enough but hotel itself was tired and needed paint, also some work going on in the hotel to improve it. We booked for the pool but it looked murky and with the general tiredness we gave it a wide berth
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The pool was great and the staff very helpful and friendly
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Air conditioning was an issue but they moved us and all was great onwards. Pool had a slight film on it. Needed to be circulated more often. Would stay again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel close to beach - A quiter setting staff are lovely and cannot do enough for you. Rooms are a bit tired and need a bit of maintenance overall a good stay.
- wan hulaimi (8/5): a place to chill - what i like about this place is the exclusiveness and very calm. after hitting the beach, you wanna a place like this to relax and soak up the sun quietly & read books. the villas is quaint and the staff are very helpful. definitely im going back there
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The air conditioning is very bad. Rooms are far too hot and uncomfortable to sleep comfortably.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Bathroom should be better sealed - Very dirty area, a local dumplings. Hotel was clean but not to European standard. Breakfast was very poor, but staff was very helpfull and nice. Bathroom was very interesting: nice lookingin an extic and unique way, but since it is basically outside it means a lot of bugs and spiders crowling in it and if it rains outside, it rains on you while you are sitting on the toilet.Bed was very comfortable.
- Andrew (10/5): Overview - Staff very helpful and always go above what is expected. Larry the owner was extremely genuine and offered good advice of places to see etc.
The pool is lovely and it feels like you have your own private space. Rooms are a good size, bathroom is partly outside so unfortunately if it rains the bathroom gets wet...not much of a big deal.
Only issue we found was strength of aircon in the room which probably needed re-gasing and the WiFi wasn’t great in the room especially compared to other bars/restaurants but you aren’t on holiday to be on your phone or laptop so wasn’t an issue.
- Steve (10/5): Lagoon is the best - We had such a relaxing fun time at this property. The facilities are amazing. Best ever pool with 2 bars. You can find one if you swim one way and the other if you swim the other. But best of all was Larry and his happy team who made our stay truly fun and enjoyable. Thanks so much. This has to be the best place to stay in Gili Air
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location. - Hot water could have been better. Not the place to stay if lizards freak you out.
- azzano (10/5): Great cabin by the pool - Simply beautiful room and surrounding grounds. Staff is eager to please. Very relaxing. Free bikes and snorkel. A must stay
- Stephanie (10/5): Beautiful, great location - Gill Air Lagoon was a wonderful hotel. We loved how central it was to everything (the island is small though!). They had free bicycle service as well as free snorkel masks and flippers - which we took full advantage of. The room was great, private. We also really enjoyed the little terrace with the lounge chairs in the water. Was great for a cool down on a hot day. The breakfast was decent. We didn't eat dinner there, but judging by the breaky, I am sure it is good. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): expensive but not justified - the whole place is a bit tired and underwelming.....the photos paint a much nicer picture. the pool was a nice concept but wasnt as clean as it could be plus it was showing signs of age. wifi was great. the grounds are sparse and could do with some good landscaping. its back off the main road with no beach views. the bed was comfortable and the place could be amazing with an upgrade
- cynthia (6/5): Great design. Private and intimate - Got a deal on this hotel, about half the going rate.
- Rhian (10/5): Great hotel on Gili Air - Nice hotel - great location
Few minor things need upkeeping around he property but minor.
Pool was amazing! As was breakfast, so much choice of both a la carte and buffet.
Location was also great - really close to good restaurants but very quiet at night which was great.
- Louise Berry (10/5): Awesome hotel - loved it! - Great hotel. Staff were friendly, helpful and just lovely! Breakfast included was also really good. Dinner menu could be better but close to lots of places to eat. Had a really good time here and if I make it back to Gili air im booking here again!
- Briana (6/5): Meh - Our stay was here nor there. The staff was extremely friendly and the room was sufficiently clean. We only had one night here and decided to really enjoy the pool. The only issue we had was that the staff at the bar literally played the same song at outrageous levels over 25 times (no exaggeration). In the morning, we both chose Eggs Benedict for breakfast from the alacart menu. The best thing I can say was it was eatable. We ate at 9am and we're pretty sure the coffee pot had sat on the burner since 7am when breakfast started. We were really looking forward to this particular hotel, so our expectations may have been a little high....but over all we thought it was mediocre.
- Lorrey (10/5): Peaceful Bungalows and Breathtaking Pool - The hotel was situated in a very convenient, yet quiet location, right off the main town strip. The bungalows were spotless and offered quick access to a very unique lagoon pool. The design of the pool and bunalows afforded a great deal of privacy and relaxation. Staff were friendly and helpful, tending to guests needs. The hotel is so close to some of the best snorkeling in the world and they offer snorkel bags at no charge. The hotel also has bikes for quests to borrow which was a really great bonus to seeing the gorgeous landscape. Gili Air is a beautiful island and staying at this property made for a peaceful and relaxing vacation.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointing for the price - The hotel is not bad but not great either, especially considering it is one of the most expensive options on the island! The pool is lovely, and it is very nice to have your own poolside area. However there were a lot of downsides, the breakfast was horrendous, I would recommend going elsewhere. The lights in our room didn't work with wires hanging out of them, the phone didn't work so we couldn't order drinks/food and no one manned the bar much so there was no option to order food or drink anyway! The towels and pillows had holes in them, the toilet overflowed. It wasn't the worst stay we've had but for what we paid we expected much more and were quite disappointed.
- WIlliams (10/5): Highly recommended - comfort, privacy, convenience - Wonderful stay in idyllic hotel. Each room is a private bungalow with own bathroom and pool access. Unique setting, fantastic and attentive staff. Location perfect - set back from the road to ensure privacy and peace, 2 minutes walk from restaurants, bars, beach and dive resorts and 5 minutes walk to the harbour. Definitely recommend
- chris (8/5): Nice hotel close to all amenities - We had a nice stay at this hotel. Staff friendly and rooms clean. Pool was nice to swim off from our room.
- Josephine (10/5): Comfortable stay - Me and my husband ended our honeymoon at this hotel and it was very nice, clean and with extremely friendly staff. I loved the lagoon that every bungalow had attached and that it was so quiet. Would recommend for anyone to go. Food was nice too.
- martin (8/5): Nice, food can be better - Everything was fine, food needs improvement. Room was comfortable and clean.
- Pamela (10/5): Gili Air Lagoon Resort - fantastic stay - This hotel was fantastic. I loved the outdoor bathroom (still very private) and the lounging pool area in front of every room. It was a very nice touch to take the beach bikes for free, and the staff was incredibly friendly. Tan? was the best and should get a large raise :) You have to order breakfast the night before but it was very good. The location is also right near most of the main restaurants and the marina.
- Bridget (8/5): Blissed-out relaxation for 4 nights on Gili Air - My husband and I stayed at Gili Air Lagoon Resort for 4 nights in October 2015. We loved the layout of the rooms around the lagoon pool. Our room was on the end and located closest to the restaurant area but this didn't cause any problem with noise etc. The benefit was that we were just a short swim to the bar at happy hour! The sun loungers are set in a shallow part of the pool in front of each room/villa - bliss! It's a short walk down the path to the beach access and close enough to where the boat drops of you off that you don't need a horse and cart to get to the accommodation. Location was perfect. Bar and restaurant staff were friendly and helpful and did their best to accommodate my gluten free diet. The rooms are pretty basic but clean and comfortable. Didn't need an adaptor, the room was equipped for all countries power sockets. Bathroom is semi-outdoors which could cause a problem with mosquitoes but we kept the internal door closed to avoid this - plus I think they probably spray to keep this at bay. It was very quiet and peaceful at the resort but unfortunately too quiet for us at night time where we preferred to try out the numerous beach front restaurants on offer. The staff were great. Bikes with extra-wide tyres were free and readily available to explore the island on it's sandy paths. All in all we had a wonderful time at the Lagoon Resort and would stay there again. Gili Air Island was a definite highlight of our trip.
- G Brent (8/5): VERY NICE and Will get better - Beautifully designed hotel. Very new so it still needs some time for the landscaping to fill in. Then it will be among the best that Gili Air offers. But don't wait, you will enjoy.
- Cody (8/5): - Amazing new property on beautiful Gili Air. It is priced a bit high compared to other properties, but definitely a very nice place to stay and very enjoyable.
- Chelsey (8/5): Would come again! - Loved our stay here! 5 stars for location and overall hotel feel. It's a short walk from the harbor and offers free bike use which is great for exploring the island.
4 stars because the bathrooms are open air, which is nice, but does invite critters. Something chewed a hole in our toothpaste and we did see a few lizards running around the shower walls. Room is also not completely air tight which allows mosquitos to come in.
Service was great and we loved having our own mini pool and porch.
- paul (8/5): Good location and loved the awesome poil - Not the cheapest place but a great spot and loved the swimming pool. The gardens are still a bit sparse but its a new place so they will grow in time.
The rooms were nice although nothing spectacular. There are plenty just as good for a lower price.
But the pool is what makes this place. How nice to step out of your door and into the pool with your own space with deck chairs.
If you are looking for somewhere nice and can get a deal that keeps the price close to $100/night then its worth it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): great new hotel - grear hotel, next to the main road so very near everything and the beach. very comfortable. breakfast was basic but the rooms were ideal. booked one night, stayed 5 in the end
- Verified traveler (10/5): the best in Gili Air - super great location to explore Gili Air
just 3 mins walk from the best snorkeling spot & 10 mins walk from the harbor.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel is quite new but I think it is overpriced for the standard. I stayed here for 3 nights and was pleased I did not stay longer. The food offered was sparse and there was little atmosphere.
- Adam (10/5): Special little place - Lovely place. Great massive breakfast. Rapid room service. Such a lovely place to chill out
- nikki (8/5): Great hotel...once it's finished! - Lovely hotel- big bed, nice room, great to have your own little patio area and pool beds (although a tad tricky as they're in the water)
Unfortunately the place isn't finished so we had to put up with the sound of building works every day and the dust got in the pool so it wasn't the cleanest. I'm sure once done it'll be great. But I'd give it six months!
- Sophie (6/5): Not finished yet! - It's a really nice resort but not finished yet so that was kind of disappointing. The staff is friendly but really not professional.
