Guest Reviews
- janet (5/5): - The staff were very friendly! The apartment building is very old and dirty.
- Vivier (10/5): -
- Alisa (9/5): Lovely place, perfect location - The location is fantastic for exploring. Within one hour drive, you are in Victoria or Nanaimo and in less than an hour drive, you can reach many beautiful beaches and communities. The apartment was very spacious and comfortable. It was outfitted with everything we needed. The staff were lovely too. I would recommend this to families that are on a budget and are looking for a nice and clean place that is extremely comfortable but not too modern or "fancy". This apartment makes you feel like you are in your grandma's house, just lovely.
- John (7/5): Good value - Stairs
- Sandra (8/5): Good value for the money. - Jamie and Raj were excellent. Someone was always around during the day and they were only a quick phone all away. It was quite close to town but amazingly it was very quiet. Parking was no problem. We we there for 18 days and Jamie came in to do housekeeping and change the bedding after we were there a week. Very friendly. They even gave us a welcome bottle of wine which was a nice surprise. Unfortunately during our stay there was a heat wave so the place was very hot but they did provide a couple of stand up fans which helped. Everything else was great.
- Gaby (9/5): We would definitely stay there again. - The size and layout of all the rooms was great. Missing—
—in the bathroom, a fan system to clear the air..
In bedroom and living room—
—duo wall sockets with usb sockets —-to charge and use their electronic devices.
For all who are 2025 plus—-techies…
- Fenn (10/5): Would highly recommend - Very cozy, felt like home NA
- Michelle (9/5): Comfortable - I liked everything but the dirty dishes Some dishes in the cupboard were dirty

- Mumtaz (10/5): Feels like home! - I enjoy the stay, the location is very nice. Very clean and spacious! It really feels like home. I came with my wife and 4 children and they loved it! Very nice lady that works there she was so kind 😇 definitely will come back again.
- yinghuan (8/5): -
- Raels33 (9/5): - Jamie made us feel very welcome and always did a checkin when she saw us to see if there was anything we needed. Suite was very roomy and had all we needed. Communication prior to our arrival when we had some questions wasn't addressed in a timely manner.
- Danny (9/5): JAMIE WAS Brilliant - Staff - Jamie - has been brilliant and accommodating.
- Kristien (8/5): Very good - Friendly staff, clean Dated, old
- Specht (10/5): Exceptional - The feeling of being at home is how I would describe my stay. I was in the middle of a community not an industrial area. There was a bottle of wine and two glasses awaiting me on the table when I entered the room on the kitchen table. Jamie and Raj where very friendly and kind. They were very personable and helpful. I was able to talk to Myrna (one of the owners of the property) and she was able to tell me more about what went into making the Manor what it is and how much care that they have given to make it what it is. All around great experience!! I didn't stay long enough!! My next stay will be longer, hopefully much longer!!
- David (10/5): - More than adequate. Will most certainly stay again if the opportunity comes up. Raj is a great manager
- Melissa (9/5): My sister enjoyed the room full kitchen, dinning room and living room - Right in town Nothing
- Melissa (9/5): Superb - The full kitchen and the beds where very comfortable
- Ryan (10/5): - Jamie made our family feel extremely welcome, and she went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay. Very quiet location, and very comfortable rooms. Great spot for a family! 10/10 stay, wish we had someone as wonderful as Jamie everywhere we traveled to!
- Gladys (10/5): - I really liked the relaxed and friendly ambiance. The staff was really kind and responsive. Special thanks to Jamie who went beyond her way to help us.
- Wendell (5/5): Passable - The staff was super nice and helpful and the bed was very comfortable. No air conditioning so the room is quite warm. The couch needs to be thrown out, you can't sit in it. So we could not lounge comfortably in the living room.
- John (10/5): I found The Rosedale Manor the best that i have ever stayed in. Jamie the manager was fantastic. +++ - I found The Rosedale Manor the best that i have ever stayed in. Jamie the manager was fantastic. I found the stay to be the best. It is very well run and enjoyed that it is not like a "Motel". I am extremely happy with the whole layout most of all the hot air Popcorn Maker.
- ABDUL (8/5): - Nice clean good host
- Bruce (9/5): Superb - Jamie the building manager. She is very efficient and friendly. Will come back just because of her. Building is somewhat dated and needs a refresh.
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - It was a clean, quiet and comfortable place to stay in a cute residential neighbourhood. It is centrally located, everything in town was easy get to. So many local amenities were within walking distance, including parks. I would highly recommend the place to anyone. The staff were friendly without being annoying or intrusive. The furnishings are a little out dated but very comfortable and let's be honest, you're not there for the decor, you're there for the activities you've planned in the area.
- Joseph (7/5): Riff Raff not allowed - Excellent Central location Maintenance personnel took the freshly installed cable box during the final walk through and accused us of taking it so we to not pay the damage deposit back..... So be sure to take pictures coming and going because they will obviously pull anything on anyone to not pay back that damage deposit.
Being told that every single guest we had was riff Raff..... Absolutely every individual family member or not.....all riff Raff.... Very discriminatory.... You better be upper class or upper middle class to stay there.... But if you are in either of those classes why would you stay there? The suites are very used and could use a carpet cleaning more often as well as the hallways.... You should have in suite vacuums so the carpet can be cleaned daily instead of only at checkout.
The drapes all have dirty water marks on them, the doors don't close properly, the towel racks are not installed properly, it's a huge battle to actually lock the patio door, there is no intercom system (no way to acknowledge friends or family who may arrive at different times then you..... The list could go on and on.
- Joseph (9/5): The little building with big heart - Very homie, and comfortable, clean, prompt service, even without an arrival time set in stone We got it to a bumpy start, understandably, as the management had not yet gotten to meet my partner. Being in a position of trust over some one else's property the staff showed great dedication in keeping this property safe of ne'er-do-wells..... Even though in this case it was directed towards two people that do I nothing but good for the communities, for the people, and for the environment...
And even though this incident was shocking and weird for the two of us, it was a reminder to both of us that her job is not an easy one.
We had a discussion apologies were given and overall in the grand scheme of things I myself feel a whole lot safer knowing there's management of this caliber here keeping you, your family and your belongings safe.
Now that staff and I have spoken I have come to appreciate the fact that they are very adamant about keeping a safe respectful environment in and around this building, which has put me at ease with my surroundings as well, as not a single accommodation in Duncan offers this....... Except here..... Thank you.
- Linda (8/5): - Very nice property manager.
- Thommes (9/5): Great rest - The king size bed was the most comfortable bed I have slept in for a long time. The kitchen was a bit dated but everything was clean and all equipment worked full selection of cooking utensils and fresh towels The neighbor was on a treadmill or stepper every night other than that it was a fabulous stay
- Randy (2/5): Disappointing - No one was available to let us in, so we were unable to stay there.
- Rob (3/5): Check-in process was abysmal but at least got worked out eventually. Room could use AC & shampoo. - Bed was comfy Check in process:
- don't like to be told to msg you only 24hrs prior to arrival to get check in info, instead of just being sent info further ahead than this (what if I was travelling without cellphone or in a no cell region at the time?!)
- don't like it when no one even answers the check-in message
- don't like it when no one's present to check me in on arrival
- don't like it when there's a sign on the door to call a number, and having to have a cell with me because it's not the buzzer (not in service?), but that number is also out of service
- don't like needing to have a cellphone with a local data plan to figure out what your number is from booking.com, only to find out that number is also wrong (at least the person on the other end at a different location was able to give me the correct number for this location)
- don't like being "told now's a bad time to check-in, I'm at a ballgame"
- don't like waiting around on our arranged backup time to check in, only to be stood up and told they were at another ball game
- don't like having a family pass by my door/window at night - I'm guessing they were equally lost on how to get in / who to talk to and were hoping I might be it as they did their perimeter walk of the building like I did trying to figure it out.
Room:
- needs AC
- no shampoo provided
- most TV channels are not in service, and it's slow to switch channels so you lose half a show just trying to find one that's good - if you can't get the provider to block them better, and don't wanna pay for more channels, consider leaving a list of which ones are available so the hunt is at least a little faster.
- Angie (6/5): not sure what to think of Rosedale as they have NOT refunded my deposit as of this writing - Mixed feelings about Rosedale although owner-manager may be decent people. The location is ideal and very close to Quamichan Lake where my son and the national team rowers are training. But it is now June 27 and I have not received a refund of the deposit they charged on my visa. I booked the place for my son and his crewmate who stayed for 28 days and checked out May 29th - 21 BUSINESS DAYS ago. I have sent Rosedale 3 messages about the deposit refund and dead silence from them. I am very upset. I have been using booking.com since 2018 and this is the first time I've had a bad experience like this. I have not received my refund of my deposit and it is now 21 business days after my son and his teammate checked out on May 29th. I booked a one-bed apartment for 28 days and paid the charge plus the $300 deposit which I understand is refundable. I am VERY upset that it is now 21 BUSINESS DAYS past the checkout and I have not seen my refund. I have specifically instructed and reminded the boys not to leave their garbage so as to avoid any issues and they assured me they tidied up and even took a video to show. My son is a rower in the national team and often stays in Duncan for long periods to attend camp and train. These boys are amateur athletes who represent Canada and barely scape by. I, as a parent pay a lot out of pocket and so every bit counts. I booked an apartment at Rosedale last year too and they only refunded $150 out of the $300 and I simply chalked that up to the boys not cleaning up. But this time, I have not even seen my refund after 21 business days - so I am very upset and I am not sure what to think of Rosedale at this time. Very disappointed, definitely not a pleasant experience.
- Denyse (4/5): - The communication was really poor. We were travelling from England which has an 8 hour time difference and were unable to contact the accommodation to arrange collection of the keys 24 hours in advance as requested to do so. An email came through with these details during the night on the day we began travelling to B.C. by which time we had already booked alternative accommodation so we could be certain we would have a place to stay once we had arrived after 20 hours of travelling.
- Curtis (9/5): Superb -
- Klezli (9/5): Superb -
- George (8/5): Very good -
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lillian (4/5): Disappointing - The unit was comfortable.. it had a fully equipped kitchen. The neighborhood was quiet and was easy access to transit. Could easily walk to most things in Duncan. It is an older building but clean
- Robert (8/5): - Very good support from staff, central location, fair price but it is a bit dated
- Charles (6/5): - Great manager. Very dated property. Saggy couch and chair.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is an older property but my suite was spacious and spotless. Amy, the manager was gracious, professional and made sure I was comfortable and that I had what I needed. I will definately return to this property.
- Sydney (8/5): - The property was a great match for our trip. It was close to Downtown Duncan and grocery/restaurants. We appreciated the kitchen and everything included in the apartment. It was quiet and felt safe. Everything was a little dated, but worked great and helped make our stay enjoyable. Thanks so much!
- Sophia (8/5): Apartment style hotel clean and in Duncan. - Really appreciated the separate bedroom and kitchen with full-size fridge more like an apartment. Clean and convenient for BC Summer Games July 2018.
- Shawn (10/5): Nice clean 1 bed room unit - The unit was perfectly located you can walk to everything. We found the building very quiet and comfortable, fit our needs while there very well. Would recommend to any one.
- Cheryl (8/5): Easy access to downtown Duncan - One note of complaint: the clock on kitchen wall worked only for awhile; clock on stove didn't work at all.
- Linda (10/5): Weekend on Vancouver Island - We were delighted to find this sweet place to stay. Because it is a condo, it's just like home, and has the same comforts. No hotel I've ever been in has this much comfort. We took our morning coffee out on the balcony and soaked up the sun, just listening to the birds and the morning sounds of people waking to a new day.
We plan to go back to this gem in the future...note to self, check reservations!
- Alan (8/5): - At first we were skeptical as the hallway carpets were quite warn, but when we met the managers that changed. Even though we had made a mistake on dates, they accommodated us warmly and welcomed us with a bottle of wine on the table. The suite was comfortable and well furnished and the bed was unusually comfortable. The managers were new, yet very anxious to make us comfortable. We had a very pleasant stay.
- Bill (10/5): Pleasant stay - Convenient, well equipped, quiet - eateries nearby: nice sushi place down the street
- Verified traveler (8/5): Decent place - While we were parking, somebody renting a place warned us of frequent break ins to the cars. The lady told us that it was just a hotel and nobody lived there, but it was clear that people lived in some as they told us they did and their sign said they did so I don't know why she lied to us. Other than that, it was a good stay. There is everything you would need in the kitchen and it was a good sized place. It is a walk away from the main town which was really nice.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The good--the bed was comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped. Internet OK. Basic cable. Condo was clean and spacious. Located in town near restaurants and stores.
The bad--the hallways and our room were very musty smelling. Had to keep the windows open 24/7 to bear it. Because of that we would not stay again. There was no daily housekeeping as promised on the website. Very dated decor. No front desk--had to phone someone and wait for them to arrive in order to check in.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Safe and comfortable - Donna was very friendly and welcoming. Rose dale Manor is close to many amenities.
- Jennifer (10/5): Awesome Home Living in Duncan - This was an awesome place to stay! We stayed for 28 days and booked again for another 28 days. In total our stay will be 56 days.
- Ruth (8/5): Highly Recommend! - Conveniently located near shopping, leisure centre, bus transportation and highway, the Rosedale will be our choice any time we come to stay in Duncan! The on site managers were helpful, friendly and attentive, answering our many questions, and providing additional items as needed. On site and convenient coin laundry made our stay even easier. the only downside was the heat! While ceiling fans helped a great deal, no a/c meant for some difficult nights for the children (days in the upper 30's). But that is true of many places one might stay in Duncan. However even there, the on site manager made helpful suggestions that kept the unit cooler than it would have been. We will be back again and again and again and will recommend Rosedale Manor to our friends travelling to the Island!
