• Russell (8/5): Great location, great staff - Finding the caravan park was very simple. The staff at reception were super friendly and easy to talk to. We found our tent very easily with the map and all the amenities also. It was simple yet comfortable for what we needed. Unfortunately we had very, very noisy bats as neighbours who early morning and late evening created their havoc for the entire park. Not that that's the parks fault, but it did wake us up just before dawn.

• Gary (2/5): The walk was a bright part , however I would not recommend a stay at rhe Big4 park due to the above - The sun was out and it didn’t rain. The cabin was overpriced for what was supplied. There was no mention of the fact that the resturant was closing for the season on Saturday. Information given regarding crockery for cabins was incorrect. As we planned to use both the resturant and cooking facilities we were misled. Staff lacking in understanding english, coffee order was incorrect 3 times after repeating the order on 2 occasions. The price of the tents per night did allude to being a shade more luxurious than what was presented.
• Wessel (6/5): Carnarvon Gorge is a must see! - Carnarvon Gorge is a must see. We didnt get far with the walking trail due to the kids - We'll visit again without the kids. The camp is pretty basic, but really meets all realistic expectations. Very quiet in the evenings. Plenty of animal activity in the park... Saw a bilby, grey kangaroos and a few other things... Awesome We booked a tent in January with no aircon. It was pretty hot in there! Our kids (7, 10 and 11) found the place to be a little boring, but my wife and I loved it.
• Ros (9/5): Beautiful and tranquil location perfectly located within 15 minutes of the National park area and the gorge hiking trail - Perfect location with only 5kms to Carnarvon Gorge hikes. Wallabies, kookaburras and platypus to seek out. Comfy unit with little fridge and double bed, solid ensuite and simple kitchen equipment. We stayed in the air conditioned unit and it was perfect for our needs. Quiet and picturesque with fully stocked camp kitchen if needed. Air conditioning was really quiet too, so a good night’s sleep! Warning: if summer, go as early as possible to the gorge to beat the sun and heat if hiking! Glad to have experienced this place. Wifi was particularly poor even at the admin/kiosk area where it was the only place to connect; weak coffee, and off season so no entertainment or bar open. Admin should warn about flood areas driving to the park and the rocky entrance to the park. Don’t bring a car you are precious about; in saying that, I drove my Hybrid Hyundai Tuscan perfectly fine throughout our journey in this area. Watch the cattle and grids and dangerous flood roads and be aware of the season you are travelling in.

Season dates should be more noticeable to customers when booking. The entrance into the caravan park is not suitable for conventional vehicles, it could be improved at reasonable cost.

• Steve Spinetti (8/5): We had a great time staying here. The staff were very friendly and it is in a great location. - The location was excellent, you’re not too far from the Visitor Centre. The wifi was great at reception, and the cafe was very nice. Seeing the local platypus was a nice bonus! There is no phone coverage, but the wifi is great at reception.
• Chris (10/5): Luxury in the outback. - This was an amazing place in the middle of the bush. Five star luxury and even a surprise welcome pack on arrival. The cabin overlooked the creek and kangaroos roaming around. A full kitchen and modern bathroom were welcome and two rooms meant privacy for our son each evening. Close to Carnarvon Gorge and all the walks. Staff were friendly and welcoming and the store was well stocked for essentials. Great holiday and thanks

• Marianne (8/5): Bat's galore - Wonderful setting in the bush,close to national park.Cabin had everything we needed but was an economy one so basic. Expensive for state and size of cabin,well over $250 a night. Bathroom was a bit moldy and old.Had to use camp kitchen but had plates etc supplied.
• Stephen (9/5): - One of the best places I have stayed in terms of its location, the abundance and variety of birds that are around, the space between my Taka Tent and my neighbours and just the general serenity of the place. No external lock on my tent had me raise my eyebrows but it just wasn't any sort of problem and once I got my head around the concept, I loved it. Only a short 5km drive to the start of the main track into the gorge. Staff at the cafe/Bar were all excellent. This is just an observation...not a criticism in any way...I found the opening hours of the cafe/bar in the afternoon/evening rather strange. 4-6pm was my elderly grandmothers dinner time. I would have preferred 5-7pm.

The layout of the park was very good giving a little privacy to sites.Everything was spotless and the water in the showers and camp kitchen was hot. While the following comments are negative some are probably being rectified - and they did not detract from my enjoyment of the location. The layout of the six person on-site tent was cramped and uncomfortable for two people. There was not enough blankets for a winter’s night in a tent. Luckily we came prepared. In the camp kitchen the BBQs were not working and the burners on the stoves were not working properly.

• Alison (8/5): Perfect location from the Gorge and had everything you needed. Just need to sort out the sewerage problem and the bats - The Taka Tent was clean and compact. The water was hot in the showers. The camp kitchen had everything you needed. The reception and bar area accommodated foods and drinks if we needed anything extra. Our tent was located right in front of a bat colony and the roof was bombarded with bat excrement every night when they flew over. You couldn’t leave the tent at that time unless you wanted to be covered in their waste. The area near the toilet block stunk of sewerage. There was an area cordoned off and you could see raw sewerage bubbling in the ground. It was definitely a health hazard.

• Malcolm (8/5): The ideal place to use as a base for walking Carnarvon Gorge - A well-set-up caravan park. My cabin was comfortable and the outside ensuite (in a water tank!) was very good - a good hot shower

• Jessica (10/5): Perfect stay in Carnarvon - The Taka tents were much better than expected. Included linen with blankets that withstood the cold winter night, towels, crockery and cooking utensils for the camp kitchen. Also booked a deluxe cabin which was absolutely beautiful! Very comfy stay.
• Martin (7/5): Nice place, shame about the price and service - Location and fairly new cabin . Spotlessly clean with good air conditioning. Access to the walking trails. Wildlife. Cabin too small. No room for luggage or clothes. No inside table and only one inside comfy seat. We had 3 nights booked, paid $1200 and there was only 4 sachets of coffee, when we asked for more we were offered a few for $3. Now that isn’t good enough especially as they don’t even service the room with towels etc. The cabins have no privacy unless you close the curtains.

Facilities were of a high standard and well maintained and clean. More detail on the site about what is and isn’t included in each accomodation type would be helpful.

• David (9/5): Nice family oriented campground with a great location. - Location, location, location. The campground is located right next to the beautiful Carnarvon Gorge. I had a Takka tent, which was rather bare bones but had a comfortable bed and a refrigerator. Otherwise, facilities were shared with the campers. While I was by myself, the park seemed to have a very nice, family oriented atmosphere. Access was a little rough with a normal car, a little rocky and crossing water. In high water situations, my car would not have mad it.

Under the bed desperately needed vacuuming. Because I booked through booking.com I missed out on a 25% off my stay make sure you check their Facebook page before booking.
