Guest Reviews
- AndyFranNZ (8/5): Decent, clean, friendly and very cheap hotel. - You get what you pay for. No, this hotel doesn’t have all the bells and whistles, but what it does have is very cheap, clean, friendly accommodation 200m from Ayutthaya railway station. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the bed was very comfortable. It was also very quiet at night bar the freight trains as they rumbled through the night. But that’s not the hotel’s fault.
- Marty (8/5): - Reasonable
exp.
- Trebor-scotland (8/5): Quitter pace - This Hotel couple of minute walk from Ayutthaya train station you can see hotel as you walk out station. From our room we could see temple and watch river traffic from balcony. The room was a good size and quite aircon which is great. The breakfast is right beside the river and a good choice to choose from.
Ayutthaya is not like Bangkok every thing closes early we struggles to find restaurant and bar open after 9pm. So eat early my advice. The taxi know all the temples you would visit just ask and they will drive you around all day.
- Diana (10/5): - Very close to the train station. We walked..piece of cake. We walked the first day for sightseeing, but the heat! The second day, we rented bikes from stores near the train station. The bikes cost 50 to 60 Bahts ($2 to $3) for the entire day; it's so worth it. And in 90 degree heat.
Hotel is very organized. It's got character, very clean, neat. Great price.
- Group0nFreak (10/5): At this price point it's excellent - Great location, just across the street from the Ayutthaya train station, nearby ferry to city center / Soi Farang (walking distance) and street food and a 7/11 nearby.
Yes, this hotel is a little dated but not in a bad way, the rooms are clean and fresh, quite spacious. The breakfast is good, especially at this price point: it's a steal!
- petunia24 (2/5): Avoid. - Not a hotel to recommend at all. Serious investigation how it is still continuing to deceive people with photos not reflecting reality. Scam to see this hotel posting unrealistically high price with over 70 pc discount to attract potential guests further. The tactics used are dishonest. There is no safety in mind for the fire exit either.
- kev (8/5): - Nice clean room
- Daniela (10/5): - The room was very big , the people is very nice
- Verified traveler (8/5): Close to river and street food - The hotel room was on the top floor so had a good general view, with a partial river view. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly.
- Tor Inge (6/5): Nice ok hotel - Hotel is ok, clean room, a little worn, ok bed
- supana (6/5): - Location of the hotel is quite good on the river and close to the train station and main road into Ayutthaya.
Overall the hotel is in serious need of a refurbishment.
The shower was poor located above the bath. Water pressure was low and at busy times very little hot water. The flexible shower cable was too short and I had to squat to wash my whole body. The room does not have a hairdryer but is shared among rooms, with a 30 minute wait the only time it was used. AC was ok. There is a small balcony but not possible to use.
- dave (6/5): Good view - The view was very good and the room comfortable. We did not try the breakfast and did not notice the restaurant open at other times. We would have stayed longer if the hot water was working, but I could not tolerate cold showers.Hopefully the hot water has now been restored.
- RoadtrippersAsia (6/5): One night stay in Ayutthaya - I think the hotel can use some renovation, the rooms and hotel a bit dated. Parking is ample, and the location is rather good. Staff are friendly and very accommodating. Room size is ok but just dated. Bathroom can use more lights. Good that the hotel provide drinking water and also welcome drink at lobby.
- Paul (8/5): Nice hotel , good location and basic - The hotel was fine , it was expected to be this way nothing fancy but it did the job . We just wanted a budget hotel to basically sleep and use its bathroom we went out all day . The best thing was the view from our room .
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Adrian (8/5): Not quite what it looks in the photos - The whole place could use a bit of a spruce up. Overall the stay was ok but I don’t think I would stay again.
- Go08696169203 (2/5): I have never written a bad review before but was compelled to do so about this place - This is the worst hotel I have ever stop in …do not believe how they describe the rooms or the standard and outdoor space let me explain…
1) the rooms are dirty
2)towels rough and stained
3)bathrooms falling to bits
4)air conditioning not working
5) supposed to have a mini bar fridge it had only 2 bottles of water
6) bath rusty and had no plug
7) views from my brother window over look a derelict building
8)complain to staff totally not interested
9)no restaurant or breakfast facilities
10) see attach photos
The description of this is nothing like what is described in the advertising
I would strongly advise to not stay here
- Chung Chi (6/5): -
- Kelly (4/5): - The staff did not have my reservations when I checked in. The curtains did not completely close.
- Tobias (4/5): Nice staff but hotel needs renovation - Staff at hotel very nice but the hotel needs at total renovation, very old. Room carpet was very old and dirty. Painting of walls and loft falling apart all over.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- gunnexus (6/5): The hotel is small but good price for stay! - I check-in with my parent about 1night for travel at Ayutthaya Temple.
For in my opinion about the Ayuthaya Riverside Hotel.
Advantage is hotel was good about prices and near of the centre Ayutthaya,
I just booked the hotel to very lated in the morning and check-in in the afternoon.
I don't have choice not much but this price late is good and near the centre.
(I booked the room normal but they gave the room river view room)
Disadvantage the location is near the temple so scared and The hotel is immemorial.
Overall, I would like to recommend for stay, safe your money and good for travel :)
- Verified traveler (2/5):
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Das Hotel Riverside ist Zentral gelegen, nähe Bahnhof, Zimmer sind soweit ok. Die Klimaanlage ist ein wenig zu laut..
- JUNJI (10/5): - my partner takes me all Ayutthaya by rent a moter-bic
It isss
- alberts790 (4/5): Disappointment!!!!! - My girlfriend and I stayed one night at The Ayothaya Riverside Hotel....
The staff was very friendly and helpful but the room was dirty, stains on the sheets, pillow cases and stains on the carpet. The hotel is in dire need of a remodel/facelift NOW.... Will not return👎👎👎👎👎
- ayeshad2017 (2/5): Poor - Didn't get rooms next to each other as had been requested and I feel as though it was because they gave us the rooms that were not in their best shapes. The shower in one of the rooms wasn't working very well, so my son had to use the shower in our room. The bathrooms were grotty, our TVs in both rooms were old box TVs that hardly worked and unfortunately for them while the cleaners were cleaning the rooms, 4 rooms were open and we noticed they had fancy flat screen TVs and we're in a much better state than ours.
Breakfast was okay. Could do with much hotter coffee and tea. There was no milk for the tea until I asked.
There was a young lady at the desk when we checked out who was very sympathetic after I complained about the rooms and she sorted out getting us a taxi to Bangkok.
I would not want to stay there again or recommend.
- 281craigm (6/5): It's a place to shower and sleep.....and it's cheap - We hit town after a bit of a drive and we just needed a place to shower and sleep and this fit the bill!. Cheap but good location, not too noisy (our room anyway) and clean.
We didn't opt for any deals with Breakfast etc...I never do in Thailand with so many options for food out and about it doesn't make any sense to have breakfast in a hotel, but that's just me!
Beds were quite comfortable but more importantly clean.
The lady at the front desk when we arrived was very friendly and helpful.
We didn't book a room but you might need to at different times but if you are on a road trip or looking for a budget option I can recommend this place.
- Eduardo (6/5): - The breakfast buffet and the location are the point getters in this hotel.
The rooms are big, but just not up to the standard.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- CY (8/5): - Too old. Need to do renovations. Water heater is not able to adjust and water flow too low
- Aimee (10/5): Perfect - Riverside view was lovely, we also had a temple view too and cost was very reasonable.
Location was so close to the train station and lots of tuktuks available for the sight seeing around the place. All in all was a great location for our trip of one night.
- MHPVR (10/5): Exceptional Service - We checked into this hotel during a road trip to Chiang Mai and it was fantastic. The hotel is aged and needs some attention in places however everything works and the price is extremely competitive. The hotel is really clean and the friendly, efficient staff make up for the aged look in some parts of the hotel. I would use this hotel again in a heartbeat.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I am sorry to say in my life of 67 years, this is one of the worst hotel I've stayed. Toilet was sooo terrible, water pressure was sooo low, cabinets was like the 1970s..stained, dirty that I won't even dare to touch it. But the view was nice, overlooking the river n bridge but not really fantastic as you see those dirty quarters opposite. THIS HOTEL NEED A MAJOR RENOVATION BADLY. The doors need to use a 1970s latch to lock. The lift lobby on the 8tg floor, the ceili g looks like eaten by white ants.. Picture in the website is too deceiving. We rent a car so the nearby train station did not add to my review. The train station is just opposite
- lokpals2016 (8/5): My Ayutthaya trip - On my Ayutthaya trip I stay at Ayutthaya river side hotel. It's a good hotel friendly staff. Ayutthaya is an old and holy city. I want to come again again in Ayutthaya. I feel spiritual peace here 😍😍
- saminda (8/5): - Very convocation and good staff
- Ashbury71 (4/5): Friendly staff, but that’s about it -
Cheap hotel with friendly staff. The hotel is dated but is undergoing a refurb which it is in great need of. The breakfast for me was not that good even though I was down early there wasn’t much of anything left and what was left was only lukewarm. The whole hotel inside and out reminds me of something you see in the 1970’s films. Probably wouldn’t stay here again if I was visiting this city.
- daniel (4/5): Maybe Not Again - Desperately needs updateing .Poor place falling apart. Employees and breakfast are great but that's where it stops.Rooms are a mess. Shame as it's a great location and has fantastic views.Short walk to food and lots to do. Tested my resolve
- drc225 (6/5): Perfectly acceptable - As part of a large extended family tour my wife had booked 5 rooms for 2 nights (from the UK via Agoda) for £28 /room/ night.
It was a family friend's recommendation and so reviews were ignored. I was expecting the worse. I was therefore pleasantly surprised.
Clearly the hotel is undergoing refurbishment. The old stained carpets are being replaced with, what looks like, a wood laminate floor. New tiles, repainted, etc. We were in a refurbished room. Others in the group not so fortunate.
All rooms were twin beds with kettle, instant noodles, fridge with two bottles of water and two soft drinks. WiFi worked and was of a reasonable speed. Bed fine.
Aircon worked and I've had much noiser. The bathroom appeared to have new tiles with the obviously very old bath tub and taps. Everything worked but the hot water took an age to come through.
Breakfast was quite extensive with various Thai dishes such as fried rice and noodles. There was an egg station doing eggs to order, toaster, juice, coffee, etc. All fine and not cold! Staff all friendly and helpful.
On the 2nd morning there were 60ish Thai students at breakfast. There was plenty of food for all.
Were there issues. Yes. Two of the rooms lost power on the first evening and those affected were upgraded. The next morning the lifts were out of action - presumably all part of the same issue. They were fixed by the evening and we were all given a plate of fresh fruit by way of apology.
The place was clean although there was the odd stain on the linen.
It's clearly being refurbished and, IMHO, is well managed. It's a decent budget hotel and, if I were you, I'd have no hesitation in staying.
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice location but need to renovate. Old hotel - Good location close to train railstation and by the river but hotel is old and not maintained properly. Toilets, beds all not good condition. Towels and sheets have stains. They have been washed but need to replace with new clean ones. Breakfast limited. Resepsion was nice. Wifi signal and speed is good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (6/5): Old city and old hotel - A bit old condition hotel... but the services are very friendly... and the city is good place to look around...
- robert (10/5): Low-cost, high service - This is a low-cost high service hotel. Excellent location. Our view was up high, overlooking the river. Excellent buffet breakfast.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Infested with bed bugs!! - I feel sorry giving my worst review ever to this hotel, because it does have many things going for it. The staff for example are probably trying their best and the location is simply perfect, close to the station, the ferry, bicycle rentals, restaurants, bars etc. The river and sunset views from the top floors and from the waterside terraces and floating bar are also gorgeous! HOWEVER the place is dirty and very poorly mantained!! Most importantly it is crawling with bed bugs. We saw and killed very many before going to sleep and yet we were so badly biten absolutely everywhere that we resembled pineapples more than humans for the following few days. The pain has been agonising and totally spoilt the rest of the holiday since. If you don’t fancy the same or perhaps even ending up in hospital, don’t stay here!!
- martinsZ5039QK (2/5): Se came and left - Goodbye Riverside Hotel... Not a one Star Hotel that cheat its way to be a tre Star Hotel we tjek in and left the hotel one minut later.... Deer booking.com let us get the monny back.... Its dirty old and smells off mold... We call Pu resort and they came and transport us to this wonderfull. Hotel dont go to Riverside Hotel its the worst Hotel i ever came to... Dirty old and smells off mold...
- Bethodee (6/5): Warm Welcome - Tatty accomodation but totally adequate. Staff AMAZINGLY HELPFUL. Views from hotel fabulous. Hope I get to return. Communication problems always resolved by friendly housekeeping staff. Breakfeast was lovely
- kafeel123321 (10/5): Nice plAce to stay - Hotel is just nearby train station you can just walk to the hotel. Receptionists were good and friendly. Room is clean and cozy. Breakfast is palatable. This hotel offers excellent services to all customers.
- donmountford (4/5): Seeking value for money, we found little of either..... - As the saying goes, you get what you pay for except at this place, not even that. Our first night there our air-con went kaput and we sweated it out until help from an unlikely source came to our rescue. In the corridors of our 6th floor room, drunken yobs and slobs ran up and down the corridor banging on every door, we were easily awakened then being in a sauna. A sharp call to the night manager got us a "superior" room one floor up that was also a step up in class too. We accepted this with ill grace (at 2am) then refused to move back once the aircon was fixed. A bad start you could say. It got worse at "free" breakfast, free being a gross over-charge given that none of the buffet food trays had even been turned on. Food was a stone cold, glutinous pile of who knows what germs and nasties. I reluctantly dished up enough to prevent starvation and presented this dish to the breakfast attendant who tore herself away from her cell phone long enough to look up. Microwave please, conveyed with hand gestures to forestall the inevitable Keh? from the attendant. No hab she happily informed me, a popular response to ferrang questions from Thais. Next morning ditto, so I demanded two fried eggs, I'll do the toast. Success. Frankly this place should not be listed by any self respecting booking agency. It is hopeless especially when the other shortcomings are thrown in. NOT recommended, unless you happen to be a recent prime minister from Australia.
- David_Jackson850 (8/5): Very Acceptable - Fantastic location and free upgrade provided despite booking via Hotels. com for THB 1,300. Excellent views of the river and close to a few restaurants, bike hire, train station and river boat.
The room had views to 2 sides, was clean, 2 TVs, comfortable bed with sofa and chairs. Bath and shower very good with high water pressure and lots of hot water. Some furniture slightly worn but not an issue. Acceptable buffet breakfast.
- patongbay2016 (4/5): dissapointed - booked this hotel for the location to the train station in ayutthaya but should have read the reviews first.the views over looking the river was good and the room ok but the shower head was broken so ask for it to be changed so we could have a shower as water went every where also shower is inside the bath which can be slippy at times, bathrooms could do with updating.safe deposit boxes located at the reception which are free and you are given your own key but why not have a safe in the rooms.hotel needs updating.i dont think i will return to this hotel on my next visit
- Jordey (6/5): Ok for the price - Staff is not that friendly. Location is great, near to the train station. Cleanliness of the room is poor. We got moldy blankets. No facilities; just a basic Thai room for just a basic price. Wi-Fi is from a bad quality and most of the times the signal get lost easily. Staff only speaks the Thai language; no English.
- LukChang (4/5): Nothing seems to have changed - Wife booked this based on the photos and said it looked really nice.
That as the start of the disappointment.
Check in was quick, but the reception seems a little dark, staff were friendly enough, though the doorman? did watch us unload our luggage in the rain near the foyer. Only after I parked did he come out with am umbrella to keep me dry. Too late I was soaked by then anyway.
Into the room,it was on a high floor with a view of the river, that is one of the few pluses
The room is very dated and in need of a refurbishment. The furniture seems even older than the sites around Ayutttaya. The bathroom needs to be ripped out and renewed, to far gone to try and just regroup the tiles.
Kettle in the room, but don't expect tea and coffee, no issue just nip next door to 7 /11 or Tesco. Back to the room and with the kettle boiled, now find there are no cups. Back downstairs to reception, too be fair they did give me them, but I had to ask.
Came back after an evening meal to find the toilet would not flush properly. Surely if the room had been cleaned properly they would have known the toilet did not flush.
Due to an early wedding we had breakfast quite early, but even then the eggs & sausage were cold. Thai food was not much better. In fact the second day my wife & daughter did not even bother coming down for it. On the way out reported the broken toilet. Into the car park and had to move apt 10 cars just to get mine out, so it is a popular hotel.
Came back late evening to find not only the car park completely full, but no room on the road either..
The fact that the manager only bothered to respond to a couple of reports sums up this place. Everybody seems to have given up on it.
The bed is not very comfortable, bedding stained, just the same as the towels. On a more serious note, the light above the bed consisted of a lamp that was just taped to the mains supply. A child that was not supervised could easily touch it and receive a shock
It offers value for money, only for the reason that it is very cheap.
- PORNTHEP (8/5): Very old hotel situated by the river. - Need to do a little renovation both bedroom and bathroom.
- 234jimmyk (6/5): Hotel overlooking river - Came to the region for the giant river prawns which were delicious. Old temple worth a visit especially at night. Hotel a bit run down but for the price not too bad. We paid £23 a night. Bed comfortable. Room clean. Breakfast so so which was included.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Close to station - The hotel is not ideally situated to the island sector but if you arrive late on a train it’s just over the road. The bed was like a plank.
- Abe (6/5): Not to good! - The location is good but the amenities and facilities needs improvement. The info desk were hospitable and accomodating though.
