Staff was not able to make contact with the travel agency, but the manager finally helped, that was good. Prices. The price on the Menu excludes VAT. They claim it is regulation by the government, that's just not true. Beside that still too high prices. As a customer you feel used at the place.
• Dylan (10/5): A great week stay at a lovely place! - Very nice rooms and beach front location, along with being close to Galle. The hotel was clean, and the staff were friendly. The sea at the cove is very calm compared to other beaches nearby, so it was great for swimming/bathing. Taxis/tuk tuks were cheap due to being close to Galle and turtle beach. We’d recommend this hotel. We had drinks at the bar/restaurant some evenings to sit out over looking the sea, which was a great view. However, the drinks were quite expensive unless you were at the Happy hour times, and even then, the menu was a lot more limited. The staff also seemed unhappy about us eating out rather than at the hotel, but this was nothing against the hotel food, we just liked going out in the evenings.
• JEROEN (10/5): It’s great we stayed for 7 nights and loved it. - A beautiful location in a quiet private bay. Very peaceful. We loved the plunge pool attached to our room. It was cleaned throughout the day so always ready to dip in. Room was spacious bathroom huge, a little issue with the bathroom smell initially but was sorted quickly. Staff are brilliant and cannot do enough for you. Manager always checked in on us which was a lovely touch. Breakfast huge snd really good. We enjoyed 2 dinners and found the food excellent. Mini bar prices very good. Location good only a 5 minute tuk tuk to main strip and 10 minutes to Galle. Nothing

• Annika (9/5): Perfekter Aufenthalt - Wir hatten ein Zimmer im Erdgeschoss mit privatem Tauchbecken. Die Zimmer sind sehr großzügig geschnitten und geschmackvoll eingerichtet. Besonders überzeugt hat uns auch die hervorragende Küche – das Essen war durchweg sehr lecker. Das gesamte Personal war äußerst freundlich und aufmerksam. Ein besonderes Highlight sind die beiden süßen Hotelhunde Spice und Chai, die sofort für gute Laune sorgen.
• Breid (7/5): Excellent food, great room, friendly staff, and a beach just steps away - We stayed in one of the largest rooms and it was exceptional. There was plenty of storage and enough space for two extra beds without any problem. This room also had a large wardrobe where all our suitcases fit easily. The staff were very friendly. We ate all our dinners at the hotel restaurant and the food was excellent with very good quality. The beach is only a few meters from the hotel and feels almost like a private beach. Breakfast offered several options, including child-friendly choices, and the freshly baked bread was especially good. The pool was quite cold. Many parts of the hotel are worn and in need of renovation, and when it rains water pours into the pool because the gutters are broken. The hotel would benefit from better maintenance and renovations. Although we enjoyed our stay and would like to come back, this brings the total score down. Hopefully we will see improvements by the next time we visit.

Frokosten, alle gode lunsjene på restauranten, vannmelon jouicen med mer. Fantastisk service innstilt og vennlig ansatte på hele hotellet, savner allerede alle smilene!! Hotellet ligger en kort tur med tuk tuk fra Unawatuna strand. Koselig å dra inn dit på kveldene , spise middag på strand restaurantene der. Imidlertid mye finere og roligere på Cocobay når en vil ligge på en solseng og slappe av om dagen. Galle fort er også lett tilgjengelig med tuk tuk, ca 3 km. Kjekke butikker og fine restauranter/ kafeer. Absolutt ingenting!!

• Fiona (8/5): - The hotel is an oasis in amongst busy Unawantuna. Lovely staff and facilities. The room was one of deluxe rooms which was very comfortable. Easy access to Galle fort by tuk tuk or taxi, an interesting busy road to negotiate should you wish to walk which will take 20-30 minutes. The beach location is lovely, a safe beach to swim in. Great food too! Picture of hotel might mislead you thats its set on its own. River outlet to the left of the picture which mixes with the sea water.

Gutes Essen und sehr freundliches Personal. Schöne Zimmer, alle mit Meerblick. Einige Renovierungen notwendig und einige bereits erfolgte Renovierungen wurden offensichtlich billig durchgeführt, wie zum Beispiel die Treppe vom Erdgeschoss.

Alle facilitet er slidt og helt ude af trit med tiden. Det er en tidslomme fra 1998, værelser med 14 '' tv og VHS, det mest undervældende gym man kan forstille sig. Vandet er flot på billeder men er fyldt med plastikskrald da der ligger en flod som har udløb lige ved siden af. Menu kortet i restauranten lever slet ikke op til prisniveauet i Sri Lanka. Vi rejste 4 uger i Sri Lanka og kun dette sted følte vi os decideret snydt.
• Merili (8/5): - What I would especially like to highlight is the staff at the hotel restaurant. They were incredibly friendly and really made our stay very enjoyable—truly fantastic people. The rest of the staff were polite, but nothing especially memorable. The hotel is located by the sea, in a private area. However, there aren’t really any places nearby to go for a walk with the family. We had to drive either to Galle or Mirissa whenever we wanted more restaurants or similar options. On the other hand, we had a rental car, so it wasn’t a problem for us. The rooms were clean, but I would have liked the balcony to be cleaned more thoroughly. In some places, the rooms were a bit worn, but overall it was a pleasant stay. The breakfast could have been a bit more varied, but we managed just fine.

• Iris (8/5): Fijn hotel, met lang zwembad aan het strand. - De kamers met balkon aan de strandkant zijn fijn, de bedden zijn goed, het halfpension dinner is goed, en fijn dat je buiten aan het strand kunt eten! Het zwembad is lang en perfect om baantjes te trekken. Ik heb 2 ochtenden gedoe gehad met het zwembad personeel, ze beginnen pas rond 09.00uur met het schoonmaken, en zijn moeilijk flexibel. Het ontbijt valt erg tegen, geen vers sap, eiergerechten kunnen beter. De tweede ochtend moesten we binnen eten, de parasols wilde ze niet opzetten (het was windstil!). Kamer 105 heeft een airco die uitvalt (dit was een jaar geleden ook al het geval, zie ik in de reviews). De jacuzzi’s werken niet, de theecooker ook niet. De prijs/kwaliteit verhouding is echt beneden peil, en ik heb het idee (gezien de reviews)dat er te weinig wordt geluisterd en verbeterd. Heel erg jammer, want de potentie is er zeker!

Waiters treat Indian very badly. Only importance to people from USA and other countries. Staff are not cooperative. No respect or importance to Indian people. Was treated badly. I am vegetarian but still they charged me heavy amount for no reason without no option for veg food
• Moushmi (9/5): A lovely boutique beach-facing stay in Unawatuna - A lovely cute boutique hotel located close to the main Unatwatuna street, perfect for couples. The best and most comfortable bed with a good sized room, amazing view and the jacuzzi in the room was just the icing on the cake! The taste of food is something they should work on, as we ate a lot of meals here and most of the times ordered the same food but it was made differently everytime. Apart from that, no other feedback, everything was GREAT- we really cant wait to be back! Food, breakfast spread. Spa only had a male masseuse!
• Mara (10/5): Top - Gostei muito da simpatia de todos os funcionários, da limpeza, da comida. O quarto muito limpo, cama e almofadas muito confortáveis. Os empregados estavam sempre atentos a ver se faltava alguma coisa e eram sempre muito prestáveis. A praia está sempre a ser limpa porque aparece muito lixo, mas nunca deixaram a praia ficar suja, têm muito cuidado com isso. O hotel está cuidado e andam sempre a limpar. Adorei tudo, só tive pena de vir embora. O hotel é muito silencioso. Só uma sugestão: Deviam ter estendais(pequenos) nas varandas para secarmos as roupas. Têm na casa de banho mas na casa de banho não seca tão facilmente.

• Molch (9/5): Hotel gut, Essen ok - Sehr schöner privater Strand. Gut für Kinder da er sehr langsam abfällt. Frühstück kein Buffet sondern man kann bestellen was man möchte. Das Weihnachtsmenu war nicht das Geld wert. Am besten man nimmt das Zimmer nur mit Frühstück und bestellt sich Abends was im Restaurant was man möchte.

• Iris (4/5): מאכזב. תמורה נמוכה מאד ביחס למחיר - הצוות היה נחמד וניסה מאד לרצות אותנו. נקי אך יש נמלים ויתושים שנכנסים גם לחדר. הנוף. לקחנו חדר עם בריכה וג׳קוזי בקומה התחתונה. הבריכה היתה מלאה במעופפים ולא מזמינה. גם לים הצמוד לחדר לא יכולנו להיכנס כי הוא מלוכלך מאד. כדי לעבור לחופים הקרובים וצריך לצאת מהמלון. אך גם הם מלוכלכים מאד. המפרץ יפיפה אך מאד מוזנח ומלוכלך וחבל כי הנוף מדהים. המרפסת ללא אוורור והמוני יתושים אכלו אותנו. הרבה מעבר לכל מקום אחר. ארוחת הבוקר לא מתאימה לנו והביאו לנו במיוחד ירקות טריים וגבינה. שילמנו המון וקיבלנו מעט 😕

• Sara (9/5): - Walking into the room gave us the WOW factor, with immaculate furnishings, looking out to a private plunge pool, which overlooked onto the beach. Plunge pool was spotlessly clean and staff constantly checked and cleaned it. Beach and water was gorgeous, and we were constantly in there swimming 😀 Staff were very attentive, friendly and professional. The masseuse was awesome and provided an amazing full body massage. Food provided in restaurant was superb, wonderful local and European options. There was a minor hiccup with the booking which had included breakfast. This wasn't reflected on their information received. This was quickly rectified by reception staff.
• Suzy (9/5): The perfect end to our long trip - We had a fantastic stay! Our suite was absolutely wonderful - huge, beautifully designed, and even better than the photos. The staff were all lovely, and the waiting team in particular were incredibly helpful, attentive, and friendly. The private beach was a real highlight. It’s peaceful, relaxing, and feels like the noise and busyness of the outside world simply disappear the moment you arrive. We truly felt looked after throughout our stay. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and it was the perfect end to our long trip. Highly recommend!
• Krete (8/5): Good hotel to stroll around nead the unawaruna area. - The beach side location was excellent in this area, as you dont have many hotels on the beach near Unawatuna. The hotel itself is okay, jas good variety of foods in the restaurant and nice chilling area. The staff are welcoming. The rooms are a little aged, but it is still good considering the price and other hotel choices in the area.
• Tjorven (1/5): Overroepen - Rustige locatie Hotel is aan renovatie toe. Alles plakt en voelt vervallen aan. Kuisen kan beter. 2 dagen na elkaar kakkerlak op de kamer... Uitendelijk vroeger vertrokken hierdoor. Kleren laten wasen dure grap. 70€ voor 2 wasbeurten.... Is per stuk gerekend maar dan nog. Ontbijt slaagt tegen. Keuze uit 2 soorten eieren of wafels. Met een beperkt buffet. Eieren en wafels waren zelfs niet goed gebakken .... Veel te duur voor wat het is... Gym stelt amper iets voor. Kleine kamer met amper iets aanwezig. Loopband, fiets, enkele lossen gewichten en step Personeel iets te opdringerig. Maar wel vriendelijk. En soms moeilijk verstaanbaar. Je hebt een prive zee. Maar ligt wel wat afval. 1 keer per dag ruimen ze dit op. Ga je de hoek om bij het strand zit je op een afvalberg. Zeewater is ook niet helder.

• Silvia (7/5): Aceptable - Lo que me gustó fue la habitación con vistas al mar en primera línea, el jacuzzi y la terracita para estar tranquilo. el último día hicimos uso de la lavandería y nos intentaron cobrar las tasas en cada prenda y en el total, cuando nos fuimos a quejar estuvimos un rato discutiendo con el manager y al final nos devolvió parte del dinero a regañadientes y sin pedir ningún tipo de disculpas.

Кроме … В ноябре вода мктновата конкретно на этом пляже из-за близости канала приносзего воду с гор после сезона дождей, но это не мешаете купаться, просто не такс голубая, и в следующей лагуне знаменитый jungle beach и можно купаться там или на других прекрасных пляжах . В другие месяцы и здесь вода чистая говорят

The building is quite warn down after time. it's located right at the delta of a river, so I would not go swimming in the sea there. View on the cement factory. Prayer sound at 4:50 AM..

Rubbish washed up from the mouth of the river although not in direct view , visible when taking a beach stroll around the hotel . Location meant a tuk tuk journey to Unawatuna main strip as the roads not safe to walk on and distance to far.

Location and room saved the day. - The location, beach proximity and the room at ground floor allowed us to have a relaxed time while having a toddler in tow. The staff in general seemed to be not trained well enough in being guest oriented. For example, aggressive upselling on room, meal plans and ensuring payment is done upfront left me feeling a bit less welcomed. Usual cleanup request tool follow-ups. Although the staff was courteous and polite but in general we felt they were not keeping guest experience at the center of all their interactions.

• Pinotti Gabriele (6/5): - Buona posizione e spiaggia riservata. Letti molto comodi e personale gentile. Lavora parecchio personale, molto gentile, nella struttura, nonostante questo la spiaggia presentava diversi detriti e plastiche portate dalle onde. Ci siamo trovati a dover svolgere attività all'interno per il mal tempo, siamo andati nella piccola palestra a disposizione che era poco pulita con manubri e attrezzi arrugginiti che lasciavano parecchia sporcizia durante l'utilizzo . Nella camera entrava acqua ogni notte dalla finestra del balcone durante i forti temporali notturni, nonostante fosse opportunatamente chiusa. Sicuramente il mio giudizio è determinato anche dal costo decisamente alto rispetto alla media locale e la stagione non "alta" . Per questo mi sarei aspettato un livello di accuratezza decisamente maggiore.

Denizin olduğu kısım otele ait olmasına rağmen dışarıdan misafir kabul ediyorlardı. O nedenle otelde konaklamayan yerel halk da plaja girebiliyordu. Daha önce hiç görmediğim rezalet bir durum bu. Sürekli kırmızı bayrak vardı ve daha su belimize bile gelmemesine rağmen açılmamıza izin vermediler. Denizde yüzmekten keyif alamadık. Yemek Fiyatları aşırı pahalıydı. Buradan yemek yememeyi tercih ettik.
• Werner (7/5): Wir waren in der Vorsaison im Cocobay und möglich, dass es in der Haupsaison besser ist. - Wir hatten zu dritt für 5 Nächte eine Oceansuite gebucht. Diese ist sensationell. Größe, Badezimmer, Holzboden, Bett, Aussicht... sensationell! Die Matratze des Zustellbettes allerdings ist eine Katastrophe. Im September war es sehr windig. Am Strand waren keine Sonnenschirme und die Plätze unter dem Schatten spendenden Baum bereits in den frühen Morgenstunden reserviert. Der "Bademeister" fühlte sich als Platzwart und wir zogen es vor auf andere Strände auszuweichen (turtle beach). Der Kaffee zum Frühstück bescheiden, ein Capuccino musste extra bezahlt werden (!). Das Essen ist teuer, wir aßen meistens auswärts (Galle, oder Unawatuna). Nur für die tollen Zimmer würden wir das Cocobay nicht nochmals wählen.
• Devasenan (10/5): Fantastic Experience - Stayed for 2 incredible nights here on our way back from Yala. Lovely quiet beach. The room had an amazing jacuzzi. The staff were very attentive and friendly. I mentioned my wife's birthday was coming up and they did a lovely Seafood BBQ for us. It was easy to take a Tuk Tuk to Galle or Unawatuna beach.

A nosotros nos lo hizo y siempre había bandera roja Pese a que nos dijeron que adaptaban los platos para celíacos, mi esposa se puso enferma durante la cena. No sabemos qué fue, pero algo falló en la cocina

• Stan (8/5): Mooie kamers, prachtig uitzicht - Het hotel ligt vlakbij Galle, waar je erg mooi op uitkijkt. Vraag om kamer met uitzicht op de baai. Met de tuktuk ben je in 9 minuten op Unawatuna beach. Er is een eenvoudige gym en de kamers zijn modern en mooi ingericht, fijne badkamer ook. Het eten wat redelijk, ontbijt best aan de prijs, er komt nl nog 30% bij wat niet heel duidelijk was aangegeven. Maar al met al prima prijs / kwaliteit verhouding en goede uitvalsbasis voor Galle en het mooie Unawatuna strand

• Jivaka (9/5): Excellent Stay at Coco Bay Unawatuna - The staff was wonderful and responsive to our requests. The food in general and the morning breakfast in particular was excellent. The accommodation was very good. Despite the one critique below I would highly recommend this hotel. We were unaware that there were renovations at the hotel during our stay. We should have been informed of it beforehand.

• Senoli (6/5): - The photos of this property LOOK okay but in real life, this place is sort of falling apart. You can’t swim in the beach as the water is too dangerous and choppy. The room we stayed in did not have a balcony door that sealed properly, so we had to switch rooms. The eating/ lounge area was very bare bones. For me, the stay would have been all right, had they not used photos likely from when this hotel first opened, when it was in tip top condition. We had a hot tub that we didn’t even feel like using, being the sealant looked cracked and gross and it just didn’t appear as clean as it did in the photos the hotel has shared with Expedia. We would never ever stay here again.

• Nadine (10/5): Very individual Stay - We had just one night in the Hotel and because of that we arrived very early in the morning. Of course we didn’t expect that the room will be finish- but the staff was super friendly and arranged a room for us. The reason they told us was that we will stay just for one night and should enjoy the room as long as possible. Great! Additional: I had a surfing lesson from the lifeguard. That was super professional for an average price level. In the evening we booked the private grill diner next to the beach. That was very, very good. The quality of the meat was extraordinary. The Chef Cooker Samarajeewa and his colleague Rag presented us a lovely evening with a lot of interesting talks about Sri Lanka. Nothing to discuss!
• Lene (10/5): Best place to stay in Sri Lanka - We extended our stay 3 times, everything here is perfect. The staff , the rooms and the beach it’s amazing. Just a few minutes away from Unawatuna beach .
• Duncan (10/5): - One of few hotels with its almost private beach. Boutique but a little rough around the edges - so what if nothing is perfect - this isn’t Maldives. Great food, really friendly staff. No loud music and respectful guests. They are offering a great product, that’s why guests return. Easy tuktuk to busier area and boats to take you elsewhere. We were genuinely sad to leave.

• Janet (9/5): Great Setting. - We enjoyed our return visit to Cocobay. The staff are all very helpful and friendly. The hotel is in a lovely setting with sea views. Some areas of the hotel are looking a bit tired, but that was our only concern.

• Kerry (7/5): Food amazing, other mixed - Mixed review of hotel overall as bedroom and restaurant was amazing, great waiters and chefs serving amazing food, we loved all our meals. Thank you Front office just seems dodgy and felt like they’re trying to rip you off. Paid way too much for taxi to next destination booked through Reception and then said I needed to pay them? Make of that what you wish. Also we had a pool room, actual room great but we had room 2 which means you have to swim through the pool to reach the sunbeds allocated to your room, however you cannot get out of the pool as there are no steps on that side. Therefore sunbeds unusable. So unless in your booked into room one or three, don’t bother booking a private pool room.
• Carron (10/5): Exceptional - Cocobay Hotel : One Week January 2025 We had a wonderful stay in this fantastic place with its location with a quiet beach, a tropical environment all around, and a top hotel (in its comfort, its services, and especially by all the staff: the reception, the kitchens (excellent dishes), wonderfull room services, Wonderfull restaurant service (smile to Upul), Top managers (thanks dedicated to Buddhika). Without forgetting the precious massage from Vidula, who put my back back in place following a fall down while getting off a Bus :) The kindness, the smiles, the availability and the human exchanges that we were able to have with this Dream Team will remain engraved in our heart. • Sydney (7/5): Good - Spacious room, accommodating staff, easy with baby. Nice sea view. Room not thoroughly cleaned (dust under bed and desk, etc). Beach directly in front of the hotel is not especially nice.
• Anne (8/5): Very good - The room was very large with jacuzzi on balcony. Beds were comfy and the food was excellent. Staff all very helpful and friendly. The hotel was secluded and therefore beach just had hotel guests. There was a noise in the morning that started at 4 am. We did complain and the hotel staff made sure it didn’t start until 6 am. I am a light sleeper.
• Philipp (4/5): Overall, we expected more for a 4star hotel and for this price… I think the place has a lot potential but needs to be „r - Nice view and it was quite. Really friendly stuff. We were disappointed of our visit here looking at the price performance ratio. The hotel looks like it’s not getting well maintained. The whole place was kinda dark. We hoped for the beach but this wasn’t a option after a local told us that they wouldn’t swim there due to river next to it - which makes sense in the end. The breakfast was definitely not worth 30€ for two persons.
