Guest Reviews
- Lisa (10/5): - Amazing service, staff very helpful with any needs at all. Good food at restaurant. Would definitely stay again.
- Janene (10/5): - Incredible place and location. We enjoyed our stay.
- Julie (10/5): - Everyone there is so kind, caring, and accommodating! They respond to last minute changes due to traveling and always, always go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I come to Kenya every year and it is my favorite place to stay.
- Krista (10/5): Great food, great service and quiet - Once again fantastic breakfast spread, good food at a reasonable price and comfortable bed. Didn't get to make use of the pool this time but clean and nice to look at outside my bedroom window.
- Allan (10/5): Ahhhhhhh - It was a pleasant place to stay
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Osoita as it's name implies is not so much a hotel, more an upmarket game lodge. Situated on the edge of Nairobi National Park about 5miles from the entrance of the park and about 15miles from the city center.
It is owned and run by a charming Indian family who are unfaillingly considerate and helpful. Their staff, taking their lead from them, are also a delight.
The only draw back, and of course this is not the owners fault, is the attrocious traffic on the Ongata-Nairobi road. Driving standards in Kenya are a disgrace by Euroean standards. I suspect Ongata has grown since the lodge was built contributing to the congestion on a not particularly good road.
None the less the lodge is an oasis of calm and I truly enjoyed my stay there. Just allow plenty of time in the morning rush hour from about 6a.m.if you need to go toNairobi. Returning after a long hot day touring the lovely cool pool was a special treat.
The food was was good and plentiful and reasonably priced, as were bar prices. The menu is International but with an Indian bias and a large vegetarian section on the menu. A particularly thoughtful gesture was, that when I had to leave early for a tour, a "Pic Nic" breakfast was made up for me.
I highly recommend Osoita Lodge and Ongata Rongai for anyone who wishes to enjoy "local culture". If you are a 5 star luxury sort of person maybe not so much, but you will miss out on a truly wonderful experience.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - clean, small, nice friendly staff. wifi is weak in the room but stronger in café.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Verouderd hotel, aan lawaaierige weg.Ook s.nachts.Eten was prima.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This lodge is rustic with it's thatched roof lodge, cobbled walk ways and outdoor restaurant. The rooms need a bit of an update, but overall this is a nice place to stay. Nothing to do in the immediate area but you can hire someone to take you around Nairobi, Nairobi National Park etc. The food was really good and the staff are friendly and helpful
- Verified traveler (6/5): Choose the 15 min extra ride to Maasai Lodge - Too cold in room and restaurant when visiting in the winter. Too dark in room and especially in restaurant. Rooms are small. Expect noise from road all day and all night. Service is great. Food is so-so.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I chose this hotel primarily because it was close to the DSWT Elephant Orphanage. It is a rustic, African hotel. If you are expecting American amenities go elsewhere. There is no AC or screens on the windows but bednet is provided. A fan in the room would have been helpful for the Nairobi heat. The bathroom fixtures could use some repair, the faucet was loose. Small room but functional for a short stay. The internet only worked in a small area near the restaurant.
I cannot say enough about my driver Mike/Orsoto! Always on time, always polite and friendly. We shared some great conversations. He introduced himself as Mike. I was pretty sure this was not his "real" name so I asked and he told me his name was Orsoto. I chose to call him that. Note to management: We Americans CAN remember AND pronounce Kenyan names.
Bring earplugs because you will be hearing tuk-tuks well into the night.
There is a gate and a security guard on duty all night. He was also a friendly guy.
Service - Very mixed review: Restaurant service was slow, you will not get anything unless you flag someone down. Front desk service was aloof at best.
I had a very early morning flight home and was scheduled to be picked up at 5 am. At about 9:30 the evening before I heard a knock on my door. I was a little nervous as a women traveling alone. When I asked who it was I heard "It is the kitchen with your breakfast." What a great surprise! You would never get this kind of service for the price in the U.S.

- Krista (10/5): Great anenities and great service - I had booked for 2 but ended up staying by myself for majority of the trip. However when i asked for a guest to stay and a few little local friends to visit and use the pool after lunch it was fine and the staff were excellent. Helping the kids with dinner and breakfast when i had my hand full. Couldnt ask for better service or amenities. Looking forward to staying again soon.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Hotel for my Family in Nairobi - Great relaxing stay, nice pool, good breakfast. We stayed with two parents and two teenage kids for Christmas holiday.
- Esther (10/5): Super hotel - Sehr freundlich alles super
- michael (6/5): Good location for Nairobi wildlife experiences - It was lovely to have use of a pool, which was not at all busy during our stay.
Food was either local or Indian in style - finding meal options for an English 8-year-old wasn't as easy as in other hotels. Lighting in the restaurant was also extremely subdued to the point where in the evening it was difficult to see what was being eaten!
The room facilities were quite basic - with some splits in mosquito nets and a few stained tiles in the bathroom.
Our room was subject to a lot of engine noise late in the evening - motorbikes?
- Verified traveler (8/5): Sweet traditional (African) style hotel. - Beautiful landscaping, with winding paths to your room. nice pool, great resteraunt staff & reasonable price food Close to small airport, not the international one....
- Wendy (8/5): Last night in Kenya - Room was clean. No a/c. Pool sparkling. Room overlooked garden which needed attention would prefer room by pool. Breakfast was great. Ate in same restaurant for dinner and very pleased.
- Angela (8/5): I would definitely return to this lodge. - Location and food were great. Located out of the city and near all the attractions we were interested in. Had breakfast & dinner there most days. Staff was extremely friendly and accomodating.
