Guest Reviews
- Winfried (10/5): - Very nice place, super friendly staff, we felt welcomed and safe.
- Dale (10/5): - Quiet property in the lap of nature. The WiFi is too weak and needs to reach all areas of the property. Friendly staff.
- DMAHospitality (10/5): Beautiful - We styed for couple for night the to go and see kandy . What a beautiful location fully of historical value. Hotel staff is always there to help if you need anything . Breakfast was was a good selection if I had to make a suggestion to improve on the lunch and dinner menu. I will be coming back to the hotel again - Thanks you
- llgnormandie (10/5): Very good small family hotel - The hotel has grown since my first stay.
The rooms are quite large, very comfortable and well equipped with a shower room. Everything is very clean.
The welcome of the PANANGALA family is VERY warm and everything will be done for your satisfaction.
The price is very good for such quality of comfort.
Definitely, I will stay here again on my next visit to Kandy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This place is peaceful for mind and body,no problem at all.

- wallys718 (10/5): Sri Lankan Vesak Pilgrimage for 30 guests - Arriving with a bus and 30 guests on short notice would be too much for many more expensive places. Here, we were warmly welcomed into a tranquil garden setting in a 3/4 completed hotel. Very competitive pricing, suggest you book in person for the best rates
Ensuring our every need was attended to we appreciated the spacious suites, the communal area and flexibility of our hosts.
Great local breakfast, and we were out the door by 08:45 to visit the Temple of the Tooth.
- chulantha (8/5): Jwel hidden away in Kandy - We stayed at this place for one night. Room/bathroom was clean and the bed very comfortable. We were in a luxury double room. Great value for the price we paid. Please don't expect star class hotel room for the price you pay. This place would be idea for a short stay. We did not have meals here but saw our neighbor getting served delicious looking rotti.
Right now there is some construction going on in the premises and a bit noisy in the morning. Night time its very clam and quiet. If you sit in the balcony you can hear running water close by and its very soothing.
The owner is a very friendly person and makes it a point to have a chat with all the visitors. Our family loved the place and will definitely return to this place next time we visit Kandy.
Some things to watch out for. Be careful where you park. During the time we were there the breadfruit tree was ladened with fruit and many fell during the night. Parking the car underneath that tree would have been a disaster. The location indicated on google maps is on the wrong road. During the last stretch be very watchful.
The young gentleman who serves you does an excellent job. Please tip him.
There are a few dogs around (family pets) you dont need to worry about them.
- H3655AUerikr (8/5): Comfy Cozy Getaway - Sits close to Kandy-Mahiyangana Road, just 200LKR tuk ride away. Clean cozy room with an expansive bed and bathroom. Nice green surrounding. Accommodating owner and staff. Oh by the way, love the dogs <3
- ddna (8/5): A family home that welcomes travellers - An excellent property in newly refurbished condition, slightly away from Kandy but not far from attractions. It is attractively placed within greenery and the rooms sparkle with newness. The home cooked meals were sumptuous and traditional. The hosts were friendly and looked to our needs attentively. Very satisfied with our choice.
- mamamia (6/5): It was a good hotel, would liked a kettle. -
Walk to the bus was ok. Prefer more bright light inside. Lovely bed. Enjoyed the comfort.
- jaxobaxo (6/5): Value for money - Most things as in hotel's description is true but with small comments e.g. It is not directly in Kandy but some 5 km away, wifi only in reception area, 24 hr front desk- there is no front desk(it is under refurbishment), breakfast provided but not included. However rooms are clean, with air-con and bathroom. Area is nice and green, of the main road so no heavy traffic but still occasional tuk-tuk or buss honk could spoil your morning sleep.(also there is temple near by which has morning prayers aired through speakers). People are nice and welcoming with reasonable command of english. Owner has transport company so distant trips are easily arranged- not cheapest though. Over all, good choice for staying if you want to avoid Kandy's smog but still be close to the city.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Above average for the price - Good value basic accommodation. Rooms maintained to a good standard. Above average for budget travelers.
- Maurice (8/5): - Hotel agréable mais méfiez-vous du circuit "attrape touriste" proposé par le propriétaire.
- Kornel (10/5): Nice place, but bit far from the citycentre - The hotel was clean and nice. Hotel staff is quite helpful, so i would just recommend.
- Deanna2552 (10/5): Our Stay at Heavens Holiday Resort - This is a hidden gem. Beautiful rooms and is so peaceful and quiet. This is the perfect spot to return to after a day of sightseeing. It is located about 4 kilometers outside Kandy city. Nearby attractions we visited was the Tooth Temple and the beautiful botanical gardens...this is a must see it is absolutely stunning..
- 469palithap (10/5): Excellent money value - We had a nice clean room. Its more than I expected. The room is big and had a balcony. The owner is very friendly and treate us very well.the foods are also tasty. There have direct busses for there. I really enjoy our stay in there.
- Shafraz (8/5): Good budget hotel - Quite good over all.we had a very short stay.the hotel is definitely worth the price.
- alisonx2014 (10/5): Fabulous Hospitality - We stated here for one night on our way to Sigaryia from Bentota. It was arranged by our guide. The approach from the road to the accommodation is unsightly and to be fair somewhere I would have discounted had I been looking to book myself. However, it more than met our expectations. There was a very warm friendly welcome on our arrival. We were booked into a ground floor luxury double room. It was very quaint, it had a good sized comfortable four poster bed with mosquito curtailing around it, good size shower room & terrace outside. It was very clean. It had a fan & air conditioning.
We enjoyed a meal in the main house with the owners hospitality being second to none. His staff very very attentive & the food was plentiful & delicious.
Next day a good breakfast was provided they again couldn't do enough for us.
We would recommend this place if you are looking for a change from the large chain hotels & want a personal family service, they really made us feel at home.
- A8010TGsamf (6/5): A long distance from town - The accomodation a long way from town. About 1000 to the train station. Takes around 15 min by tuk tuk. It is in a random spot out in the bush. Family seems semi nice, we eat dinner there and breakfast was included. Pretty cheap so you get what your paying for.
- 662xiomaraa (4/5): Stay somewhere else!! - I hardly ever take the time to give poor reviews but I felt this time it was worth it. This hotel advertises in here as if it only has one type of cute new garden rooms for $15 dollars. Not true, half of the rooms are in an ugly building next to the new rooms. Without any explanations we got one of this uglier rooms even though we had made the reservations on bookings.com. Needless to say we only stayed one night!
$15 dollars for the room, $7 for the not included breakfast for two, and at least $7 dollars for tuk-tuk to Kandy rountrip (20 min. ride), this hotel ends up costing you $30 dollars and totally not worth it. On tripasvisor the hotel says it is 350 ruppes for the tuk tuk but the receptionist told me it is 550 for the tuk-tuk each way! So again, wrong information advertised.
It might make sense if you have a car with a private driver and you are "lucky" to get the garden rooms (I never saw the inside of them and not even sure if those cost more).
As for our room, it was right off of a not pretty corridor, the only views we had was of cars in their parking lot, the bathroom smelled bad and the hot water was so hot it burned so we were forced to use only cold water which was uncomfortably cold. The breakfast was a copious amount of food but clearly poor quality and not tasty. The service of the staff left more to be desired.
Long story short, do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else!!
- 96kiris (10/5): Best Deal in Sri Lanka!!! - This place is definitely worth staying in! The owner and his son are kind, humble and honest. The rooms are of great quality- everything is in excellent condition and new.
It's a little bit outside of Kandy itself but we actually preferred this and seeing as we had a driver it wasn't a big deal. The best part about staying here, besides the great bed and shower, was that we were charged exactly what we were quoted!!! We had to pay for our driver's room as well, but as it was affordable, it wasn't a big deal. Most places we've stayed at added on hidden costs, so if you stay here, you won't regret it!
- 868gertjand (8/5): Quality surpasses price - Its location is quite outside the city of kandy which suited us fine! The room rate is low so taking a taxi up and down is fine! The owner picked us up at the railway station and aftera short drive we arrived. Rooms are very fresh and clean though not too big. Bathroom looks like new. The lowest noise producing airco so far. Food we had at night tasted very fresh. Friendly staff and nice surroundings. This for such a low price makes it a very good stay!
- amarshall2015 (8/5): Excellent value for money and surprisingly lovey rooms - As with others on trip advisor, we booked this place mainly due to its low cost. But we were very pleasantly surprised by the high quality of rooms and the new bathroom. We only stayed one night but it was perfect for our needs.
It is worth noting that we had to pay 1500 rupees (roughly £7/8) for our driver accommodation, which obviously isn't a huge cost but it wasn't far off what we paid for our room.
Overall though I would highly recommend this place as the standard of room is far beyond its price tag!
- ragih2016 (10/5): Superb stay - We stayed at Heavens holiday resort for 1 night as we had to move to nuwara eliya the next day. We were very surprised with the comfortable and clean room compared to the money we paid. It was the best modern room we saw in Kandy. Rooms have AC and big bed with frame for a huge mosquito net. The room had a b ig modern bathroom with a new shower and hot water. It also has a patio outside. The owner showed great hospitality that you dont usually find in 5 stars hotel. Highly recommended hotel for your stay in Kandy.
- Kiran (10/5): Great place in Simple surroundings of a Village, - It's was very comfortable stay apart from the Room, the Owner and his sons very friendly. Good food, common room to watch TV ,specially saw cricket matches together with other guests.Very friendly 2 Dogs.It was like our own home.
- Thomas (8/5): Lungt & avkopplande.
- P8435MKlindsayg (8/5): Good rooms, delicious food, quiet area - The room and bathroom were much better than I expected for the price, and the food was delicious and good value. The location is about 20 minutes outside Kandy, which is a plus if you want to get away from all that noise and smog. It was easy to run in and out of town in a tuk-tuk, or the owner will drive you (or there's a bus apparently). This really is in the jungle, so, nothing to do - although my son and I found a Carrom board in the dining area and looked up the rules online, so we played that. But bring your own entertainment! Tip - get the owners to organise you a local tuk-tuk driver as the ones in town will charge you double the price. If I stayed in Kandy again I would rebook this place - they really were very nice to myself and my six-year old - other guests seemed to like it too.
- RasikC1959 (6/5): A low budget value hotel for the economical traveller - We stayed at the Heavens Holiday Resort for 9 nights from 6th February 2016. We were not expecting anything spectacular from our booking through Expedia and having visited the hotel over the internet. We didn't realise Kandy was so spread out over a number of hills - therefore this location felt a bit out of the way. Staff were knowledgeable and helpful. In-house meals were SL cuisine, as expected, and of reasonable value. We had occasion to eat here on a couple of occasions. Our rooms was cleaned and linen replaced. We hired the hotel car and the owner became our guide and driver. Kandy is ideal if you want to visit the main sights on a day-trip basis. Overall, happy with the hotel, location, staff, services and location.
- 547sarav (10/5): Really Pleasant Surprise - We booked this place mainly for the price and we were really pleasantly surprised. We had read some of the reviews and we were nervous with what to expect. The location is a little out of Kandy and it would be a far walk but the bus goes right by it and it's really easy go catch them as they head to the town center. The bonus with the location is the peacefulness. Initially we thought there was a mistake with our booking because we felt that the room we were staying in was too nice for the price we were paying! We tried to confirm with the elderly couple running things at the time and they assured us it was alright. The rooms were beautiful and brand new. The bathrooms were spotless and extremely luxurious. It was nice to have such a clean and large space to relax. We had a balcony where we spent many evenings. After we checked out the gentleman made us some tea in the main building. We later realized they never even charged us for it, which I thought was a nice gesture. The WiFi didn't work very well from our room because we were detached but the main building had a nice space with couches and tables to hang out with if you needed a stronger connection. My only complaint is that some ants had found their way through the baseboards in the corner of the room so they were all over the floor in that corner but they were harmless and not really much of a bother.
- gphsm (8/5): Value for money - We stay there for one night and facilities were really good. The room was clean and bathroom also good. Not far from Kandy, but be careful when finding the route via Google maps because it shows wrong routes where vehicles cannot drive. Better to phone hotel and get the route details.
- Daiz (2/5): Avoid!!!!! - Very far from kandy city. Staff are always asking for tips. This place is a drivers stop over not for tourists. Its very noisy. You pay for everything the moment you step in. Milk tea "they offer" is also charged with two different cost, milk and tea. Dining in this place is extremely pricy than kandy city. Hard to get transport so you are mostly stuck at this boring place.
- chunyan (8/5): 房间门口有露台,很棒的感觉。 - 在大山深处,刚好是包车师傅的朋友家,非常的愉快,很不错的体验。
- Angela (4/5): Tucked away from the mayhem of Kandy - Stayed for one night. Great owners and good English. Nice little balcony on our room overlooking jungle aka garden. Interesting electrics and plumbing as with everywhere in SL, power point IN shower :) made for some amusement after we had shower without electrocution! Evening meal very good. Great location but would have been difficult without own transport. Would recommend particularly once noisy building works are over which should be from now.
