• Fernando (1/5): Very poor - The bed linens weren’t changed properly, and the towels were dirty. The Wifi didn’t work at all. We stayed only a few hrs and then we had to find a new place to spend the night. I don’t recommend this place to anyone. We had a very bad experience

They did a birthday deco on our request which we appreciate as well. The breakfast : 2 sausages, buttter and jam, 1 omlet. Requested for a couple more slices of bread, the staff refused. The difference between room price and BB was roughly 800 LKR. You can do better for that price. I won't say the breakfast wasn't sufficient, but not worth the price.

• Jun (4/5): - 街中まで徒歩10分程度、治安もよく便利なロケーション。建物の外観やインテリア、庭はイギリスを感じさせる素敵な雰囲気。系列ホテルで提供される朝食は、メニューが日替わりで味もスタッフの対応もよかった。 色々なものが壊れている。クレジットカード決済機、部屋のテレビ、セーフティーボックス。せっかく部屋は広く素敵なインテリアなのに台無しと感じる。 バスルームの水はけが極端に悪く、シャワーを終える頃にはシャワースペースと隣接するトイレ・洗面台スペースがすべて水浸しになる。シャワーの温度は安定せず、±3度程度の範囲で周期的に変わる。 前日に宿泊費を現金で支払うようスタッフから連絡があり、現金を持ち歩きたくない側として少々焦った。 また、本来ならゲストが使うリビングスペースをスタッフが占有し、映画を見ている時間が長い。公私の区別、責任の果たし方といったスタッフ教育が必要だと思う。
• Elena (7/5): Bello, ma non è un albergo - La struttura è davvero bella. I ragazzi che la gestiscono sono molto gentili. Tuttavia, non è offerto alcun servizio a parte la colazione che comunque richiede di spostarsi in un altro albergo con tuktuk (gratuitamente); niente lavanderia, niente possibilità di usare la cucina, niente ristorazione o bar. Tra l’altro, noi prenotando avevamo notato il badminton tre servizi offerti ma non è veramente disponibile. Perciò è bella ma i servizi non sono quelli di un albergo, anche la polizia lascia un po’ a desiderare, dovrebbe avere il prezzo di una guest house per avere un buon punteggio.
• Jeannette (8/5): - Nice apartment, spacious and clean. Furnished in keeping with the style of the house WiFi wasn't working in the rooms so could only get it from the reception area. The breakfast included in the price wasn't on-site, rather a tuk-tuk ride away. The host arranged for the transport to the other hotel where breakfast was being served, but because it needed 2 tuktuk rides to get us all there, we didn't end up being able to eat together as the driver took 1/2hr to bring the second group to join the first.

• VIKNESWARI (1/5): Very disappointing stay - The ambience Very disappointing stay. In the morning there was no water and an electricity cut, which caused major inconvenience to us. Because of this, we were forced to rush back to our destination without even having breakfast. This was especially difficult as we were travelling with elderly family members. Basic facilities like water and electricity are essential for any hotel, and the lack of these made our stay extremely unpleasant. We informed the hotel and requested compensation, but they refused to take responsibility for the inconvenience caused. Overall, very poor experience and management. Would not recommend staying here.
• JENNIFER (7/5): Good location near the town, we just had a disappointing experience. - Very quaint accommodation and the staff were accommodating. We had NO water in our room overnight, unable to flush the toilet or wash until about 6am. No response from any of the numbers provided on booking.com when we called to check on the water status. Breakfast was served at a different hotel a 5 minute tuk tuk ride.
• JANICE (10/5): Charming and very friendly. - The location was excellent and the staff lovely. The bed was very comfortable and the garden beautiful. The shower was hot and powerful, only problem being it flooded the bathroom floor. The surround round the drain was not cemented in and moved allowing the water to escape. There was some mould in the bathroom and the electric sockets were a little interesting. A little updating is due. Having said that we had a lovely stay.

• monica (8/5): As if you have a sleepover at your rich auntie's place - Cocoon Hills is a true English cottage, with flowery furniture and wooden floors. Common area has enough space to sit and relax, or use the library. Outside there is a nice garden with a green lawn and iron tables and chairs. The place feels very homish, as if you have a sleepover with your rich uncle and auntie. It is located in a quiet area. Town is 15 minutes walk, but tuktuk is more comfortable and can be arranged anytime through the accommodation. If you are sensitive to noise, use earplugs as the wooden floors make the place a bit noisy. For me no problem though.
• Anders (9/5): Mycket angenäm! - Väldigt mysigt och fint! Rejäla välstädade rum. Värmare på rummet då det kan bli lite kallt! Trevlig och hjälpsam personal. En 5 minuters promenad in till centrum. De hade vid vårt besök problem med att servera frukost pga att översvämningar förstört kockens bostad. Det ordnade de jättebra med en kort tuktukt tur till ett annat hotell som serverade väldigt god Sri Lankesisk frukost!
• Thomas (9/5): - It is truly a beautiful place with pretty decorated rooms and garden. The furniture is well matched and the shower is the strongest and hottest we had in Sri Lanka. Breakfast is being served in another location, one higher up the hills, and they will arrange a tuktuk to bring you there. It consists of Sri Lanka buffet and was pretty tasty. The staff at that place is also very friendly and helpful. I loved the property and the feel there. Only major downside for us was, that there was limited internet. We especially booked the cottage because it had proper table/desk for working, but internet there is zero. Nothing! In the main building was better, but sitting there was bit distracting. Because of the broken internet I had no choice of sitting in the living room/ lobby and trying to work from there. That was not successful and bit frustrating, because the staff had multiple rooms, and kinda lives there too? And one of them kept lingering around. Sitting close by to me, watching television or TikTok videos on their phones. Not really social conscious.

• Robin (8/5): Schöner Aufenthalt in Nuwara Eliya - Schönes, altes Gebäude in perfekter Lage. Nah am Zentrum, aber in einem ruhigen Gebiet. Super Start um zum Single tree zu laufen und nur 5-10 min von Grand Hotel entfernt. Das Badezimmer war komplett nass (auch die Wände, Türe etc.) bei unserer Ankunft. Es hat den anscheint gemacht, dass es komplett mit einem Wasserstrahl gereinigt wurde.

We informed them that we needed to leave 30 minutes early, but they did not bother to pack a takeaway breakfast or offer a refund. Paying for something and receiving nothing in return is unacceptable. Cleanliness alone does not make up for poor service and lack of consideration for guests

The breakfast was great. There was a problem with the water when we first arrived so we couldn't get washed but the host was very apologetic and worked hard to get it sorted out

Stedet er et smukt bevaret, gammelt kolonihus med masser af charme og karakter, hyggeligt og meget velindrettet. Allerede ved ankomsten følte vi os hjemme. Beliggenheden er ideel – fredelig og tilbagetrukket som en lille grøn oase, men samtidig centralt placeret og tæt på byens faciliteter. Det giver den perfekte balance mellem ro og tilgængelighed. Værten fortjener særlig ros. Han var yderst hjælpsom, imødekommende og løsningsorienteret og gjorde en ekstra indsats for at sikre, at opholdet forløb problemfrit og behageligt. Servicen var personlig, professionel og præget af stor venlighed. Vi kunne ikke have ønsket os et bedre sted at bo i Nuwara Eliya og kan på det varmeste anbefale stedet til alle, der søger et unikt, komfortabelt og mindeværdigt ophold i smukke omgivelser.

• Alyson (10/5): FAB-U-LUS!! Grab yourself a bit of olde worlde glamour!! - What a stunning guest house! Would urge anyone to stay and experience the old world glamour. Beautiful everything, the room was comfy and cosy with an extra heater. Feather duvet and comfortable pillows. Lovely linen throughout and the bed was the best we’ve slept in so far. The furnishings including the lovely curtain fabric and attention to detail was great. Very hot water and a powerful shower. Well maintained gardens. Beautiful to see mop head hydrangeas in flower and looking fabulous. You get your breakfast at a sister hotel via a private tuk tuk. Get them to make you an omelette😋) The manager is very responsive by email and extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He organised our onward journey via his brother in law who was an absolute super hero and kindness itself. Would recommend this hotel. First class!! Nothing I loved it!!

• Mienis (4/5): Disappointing stay - Good location and kind staff We had high expectations because of the good reviews, but for us it was very disappointing. The room wasn’t clean (stains on the sheets and pillows) and you felt the springs in the mattress while laying down. I’m guessing the walls are very thin because you could hear everyone walking and talking. On our night here there was a big party with loud music and yelling. This could’ve been outside of the hotel in which case it isn’t the hotels fault. The bathroom was also kind of dirty and had a lot of broken and sharp hooks. We had a ‘window’ (ventilation system, not closeable) in the bathroom which looked down a small alley of some sort, and if people were smoking downstairs it came up in our room. The breakfast was also offered inside the hotel instead of in the other hotel like the reviews said, but this could be beneficial (we didn’t use this option). Overall we wouldn’t recommend this stay

The breakfast was truly impressive just as pictured with a wide variety including pancakes, waffles, scrambled eggs, British-style breakfast items, and a great selection of coffee and tea. It was a peaceful place and definitely worth the money. What made the experience even more special was the young chef, who was incredibly attentive and kind. • Branavee (10/5): Perfect stay at Beautiful old colonial cottage - We had the pleasure of staying at the Old colonial cottage in Nuwara Eliya for one night during our honeymoon trip and it was absolutely delightful experience. The collatage itself is stunning, beautifully preserved with charming colonial character, yet clean, cozy and very well furnished. The location is ideal, paceful, yet centrally located and close to everything you need in town. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. They were warm. friendly and incredibly helpful nothing was ever too much for them. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience. Nothing.
