Guest Reviews
- J3887RSlauraw (10/5): Excellent - I absolutely loved the Mt Dora Historic Inn.
My Charlie's room was perfect. Ground floor and easy in n out. The bed was very comfortable. The room had everything I needed. The refrigerator was a huge plus. The bathroom was perfect size for me.
I parked in the back of inn n walked to everything. I traveled with my dog and the inn made it very accommodating for her . The location is perfect. The staff is super nice. Breakfast at Cody's on 4th was a very nice n delicious complimentary perk.
I recommend the MDHI very much.
Thank you for a wonderful stay!!!!

Aug 29 - Sept 1
I hope to come back!!!
- 539stephanya (10/5): Do yourself a favor and stay here!!! - We had such an amazing time at the Inn. It was right in the mix of the shops and eateries but very quiet. It was such a beautiful place to stay! It truly made you feel like you were there when it was built over 100 years ago. Rachel and Mary were amazing contacts and property managers. The breakfast was close by at Cody’s in 4th and it was also amazing! I truly can’t recommend the Inn enough and I am a tough critic who cares about the reviews I make.
- Maritza (10/5): - This property was beatifu
- Heidi (10/5): We will be back! - Incredible, cute little place right in the middle of the adorable Mt Dora town! Service was incredible and Rachael responded immediately to all our questions. My fav was asking to keep our car parked and hearing "when you're a guest, youre family!." We will stay again!
- evelinec72 (10/5): Comfort and History - Mount Dora Historic Inn was built in 1910 and is quite charming. It is also conveniently located. Comfortable bed, great pillows and fluffy towels are just some of the things you will appreciate. Other touches that show the owners care: In random order, Alexa Echo, chocolates, a bidet and nice comfy chairs to relax in. The AC was a bit noisy but I always travel with ear plugs and my husband is hard of hearing so no problem for us two!!!
- Maray (10/5): - Great place!
- 536kristinm (10/5): Great Stay, Close to Everything - What a gem! So close to everything, and Rachel was a fantastic host. We only stayed one night, but next time (and there WILL be a next time, for sure) we'll make more of a staycation out of it.
Bed was comfy, everything was very clean. I don't know what they use for laundry, but the linens smelled so good. Not perfume-y, just clean.
10/10 highly recommend!
- Miriam (10/5): Nice stay - Cozy inn - very walkable as it’s right downtown. We were comfortable. The space was quiet. Breakfast from the cafe a few doors down was tasty. Hosts were welcoming and friendly. I’d gladly stay here again.
- Bradford (10/5): - Beautiful and charming, room was very clean, great location with parking, owner is very friendly and accommodating.
- ralphr97 (10/5): Fabulous - A simply beautiful place for a vacation with a lot of history and culture. A must go to for a wonderful time. Great restaurants, friendly people and so much to do. This was the best birthday weekend ever and I will definitely go back again. You won’t be disappointed
- David (10/5): Nice Mt. Dora Florida Inn - The owner was very helpful and prompt answering my questions. Great locations near the local shops and restaurants.
- Alene (10/5): - Our stay was awesome and staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs and requests. However, our room was not cleaned/made throughout our stay. We came back at night from walking the downtonwn district and our bed was intact.
- drmary96 (10/5): Wonderful stay in Mount Dora - The Mount Dora Historic Inn was a wonderful place to stay for our two night stay. It is steps away from the restaurants and shopping. The Inn was still delightfully decorated for the Christmas holiday. It was cozy, the bed comfortable and the room was very clean. Rachel gave us recommendations for dining and sightseeing. We enjoyed our visit to Mount Dora and especially enjoyed our stay at the Mount Dora Historic Inn. We would definitely stay here again.
- veramaiuri (10/5): My first time at Mount Dora - I went with my friend, and we had a great time.
The place is very cozy. Clean. And our host, Rachel was amazing!!!! She sowed us around. Cooked a delicious Christmas dinner for all the guests.
I highly recommend it!
The city is very cute. A lot to see! Hundreds and hundreds of light!
Worth to see it!
- artaxerxes99 (10/5): Clean and up-to-date historic B&B with convenient check-in process - We booked this B&B rather last minute as part of a mini-getaway within state. The person on the phone was friendly and professional and had us registered in no time. The keyless check-in process was a breeze and very convenient. Our stay was restful and enjoyable, and we appreciated the tasteful and festive Christmas decorations! The restaurant recommendations provided by the host were excellent too - take her word for it!
- Saranow (10/5): Wonderful stay - We picked this guest house at random for an overnight stay. What a great choice! We stayed in the king room upstairs, super comfortable. The whole place was decorated for Christmas, even our room had a lighted tree. It’s a wonderful location, easy walking distance of the town’s shops, bars and restaurants. Free tea and coffee in the foyer, and snacks. Plus free parking. We will certainly stay again.
- Louis (10/5): - Everyone is extremely pleasant and accommodating.
Will be back for sure !
- sanewe63 (10/5): The best Inn n Mount Dora - A perfect getaway! The Mount Dora Historical Inn is a little slice of heaven in the heart of Mount Dora. A small 4 room Inn each room has its own unique charm. We stayed in Dicks room on the second floor, it was so quiet and private, Rachel the owner is very hands on, takes care of every little detail really made our stay extra special.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - I took my husband for a surprise birthday trip to Mt. Dora. When Innkeeper Rachel found out it was for his birthday, she made it extra special! We had a fabulous time with the restaurants, shopping and special events. We will definitely be going back to Mt. Dora Historic Inn!
- Michael (10/5): - We will be back. The rooms were great and the staff was excellent.

of the inn was perfect. very handy to access downrown.
- Phil (10/5): - Lovely inn and bedroom. Less than 5 minutes walk to the centre. Breakfast is in a local restaurant which is a shame as we were looking forward to eating in the inn.
- P2632LOwilliams (10/5): Wonderful stay and experience - What a truely wonderful stay and experience we encountered at the inn. Rachel was such gracious host and Karen was extremely helpful as well.
The inn is located just steps away from all the restaurants and shopping within the historic district.
As an added bonus we were invited to join Rachel for her two year anniversary. We were able to meet several of the locals and the interaction was amazing.
This is a top notch inn and you will not go wrong in booking a reservation for this excellent bed and breakfast. We will be going back in the near future.
- 114jackm (8/5): The Place to Stay in Mount Dora - Excellent location - close to the centre of town. Clean and comfortable. First class hospitality - Karen very helpful giving us ideas re things to do and places to dine.
Inn does not serve breakfast on site. Instead they give vouchers for breakfast at Cody's on 4th - a very short walk (2 to 3 minutes)
- dennis (10/5): Mount Dora Charm - We stayed at a small historic inn in Mount Dora. Our room was very comfortable on the first floor. Coded entry made it easy to enter and exit. They had snack, coffee and water available at no charge. We received two breakfast vouchers for a nearby restaurant (just a block away. We are located in the downtown area and can walk everywhere. Excellent place to stay.
- MaryM529 (10/5): Must stay - From the ease of making reservations to the actual stay it was so pleasant. Rick who checked us in and Karen who takes care of the Inn are so friendly and helpful, the rooms are spotless and have all the modern conveniences yet still the quaint charm.
The location is perfect, just a few steps from downtown. Breakfast at Cody’s on Fourth is delicious.
I highly recommend if you are planning to stay in Mt. Dora.
- Mike (10/5): Fabulous B&B - Fabulous stay. Inn Keeper Karen was amazingly helpful in so many aspects including our stay & knowledge of area & town. A cozy & comfortable stay so much more personal & please t than any hotel
- Lance (10/5): Mt. Dora weekend - This was our first trip to Mt. Dora and just happened to come across the Mt. Dora Historic Inn through a Google search. The location was perfect, downtown and no need to drive anywhere. The Inn was clean and cozy, only 4 individual suites, and the staff were great. I would recommend the Mt. Dora Historic Inn.
- Sharon (10/5): - The bnb was lovely. Very close to downtown shopping , restaurants etc.
- Osvaldo (10/5): Wonderful after more than 15 years!!!! - We have been staying at the Inn for over 15 years and it is always a wonderful place to stay in. The new owners have improved the place even more if that was even possible. We will be staying here again very soon and recommend everyone to stay as well 1000000%, you will love it.
- Candican301 (10/5): Perfect Valentines Day stay! - What an amazing place to vacation. The owners and managers pay attention to every detail and ensure your every need is met. From chocolates and a hand written Welcome note, to parting gift bags, we could not have felt more at home. Location is perfect! Breakfast included at a great local restaurant was delicious❣️ This B&B is a true find!
- Philip (10/5): - The room had all of the conveniences we have at home. Right by all of the little shops in the downtown Mt. Dora area. We walked to everything. Karen was great and very helpful.
- Karen (10/5): My Dora - We came to Mt Dora to see Christmas display. The Inn was beautifully decorated and very comfortable for our group. We would highly recommend this Inn
- Karen (10/5): Mt. Dora Historic Inn - Gathered with friends to see Christmas lights of Mt. Dora. Our group filled the entire Inn. It was so beautifully decorated, clean, and comfortable. It was a treat to stay there
- Marjorie (10/5): - FUn fun fun
- Linda K (10/5): - Love the Inn. Very quaint with a lot of special touches especially at Christmas. Room was comfortable and close to everything.
- Cris (10/5): - Great location
Walk out door and one block from downtown area
- Michael (10/5): - Highly recommend. The rooms are great. Very comfortable. Proprietor is fantastic and can't do enough to help your stay. Love this place
- CARL (10/5): - The property and staff were first rate. A few suggestions for inprovement: 1-- safety bars in shower, 2--We never had breakfast at Cody's. It was crowded and appeared to be not well managed.. Dirty tables and short staffed.
- Roman (10/5): - It was really nice and would stay again
- Louis (10/5): - A very well kept older B&B in a lovely area. Conveniently located near the local shops and restaurants. All walking distance. The staff is friendly and will go out of their way to accommodate. We definite would stay again on our return visit to Mt. Dora.
- James (10/5): - Felt like home . Warm cozy place . Inn keeper was very friendly
- O1981KZdebbieb (10/5): Peaceful, quiet historical B&B - Quiet and comfortable. Close to the shops and Lake. The hosts were spectacular! They left me some wonderful goodies in my room, and a full breakfast at a Cafe nearby was included. I would definitely. Go back!
- Ashley (10/5): Great Experience - Such an amazing experience staying at this Bed and Breakfast! The staff were so friendly, the house was all decorated for Halloween (loved it!), and it’s not even a block away from the downtown area. Also, where they send you for breakfast at Cody’s was delicious! I will definitely be staying here again.
- Jack (10/5): Mt Dora getaway - Mount Dora Historic Inn was comfortable and great location to walk the area shops, restaurants and attractions. Rachel provided us with information for things to do, local restaurant, suggestions, etc. great place to stay for a quick getaway with off street parking. Thank you,
- Harry (8/5): - Great location in Mt Dora. Owner greeted us made sure we had everything we needed. Only complaint was the bed was very soft
- Rolando (10/5): - The innkeepers and owner were amazing. Friendly. Informative
It central location and the quaint way the inn is decorated and the amenities offered were over the top. I highly recommend this lovely place
- Sandra (10/5): - Karen and Jeff were excellent hosts.
- Rhino2525 (8/5): GREAT Location and comfortable room - My wife did the research and chose this quaint, historic in for our anniversary weekend getaway. We live about an hour away in Daytona Beach so my wife asked if there was a possibility for an early check-in, it would be great. The owner or innkeeper (not sure which) reached out the morning we would be arriving and said that the room was clean and ready for us whenever we wanted to come which was much appreciated! When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the innkeeper and we parked in the ample parking in the rear of the house off the street. She also asked if my wife preferred red or white wine for the complimentary bottle for anniversary (very nice touch). The inn is located in a perfect location to park your car and basically walk to most places which was so nice as parking in the historic part of Mt. Dora can be challenging. We were very pleased with the location!
We enjoy a king-size bed so she booked 'Dick's Room which is a large room with a king, and two sitting chairs along with dresser, decent size closer for hanging clothes, a sink and vanity in the room and a separate bathroom with a shower and toilet with a bidet (very nice). The new owner (since May 2022) has upgraded the electronics (based on reading the reviews older than that time frame) with a large flatscreen TV with lots of channels, an Alexa device that you can play music (very nice touch) or ask the weather, and electronic keyless lock to the door. The room also has a fridge with some 'Honor' bar items (sodas in the fridge and candy bars if you needed a soda or candy fix - we brought our own so we didn't need but also a nice touch). Complimentary bottled water was provided. Also, there was a very thoughtful note thanking us for staying with them for our anniversary.
We enjoyed the room and it met our needs. The bedding was comfortable and everything in the room worked. I sleep with a CPAP so I had to move the light off the small table next to the bed to as there wasn't room for both but not a big deal. My only slight negative is the air conditioner (which is a window unit as you can imagine in an old home) doesn't get the room as cool as we like to sleep, mainly because of the nice size room is probably a little to large for the unit. That being said, it wasn't warm, just not as cold as we prefer. There is an overhead fan that pushes the air around but I could never find what I considered a high speed (more like medium). Again, not a huge deal but one reason that stopped me from giving the review 5 stars. Maybe a second unit in another window would help cool the room better, especially in the hot summer. One other note of interest, two of the rooms including the one we stayed in are at the top of a narrow stairway so if you have any mobility issues with climbing stairs, you might want to choose a first floor room. There is also a small, outside balcony that is the front of the house and faces the tree-lined street with two chairs that we enjoyed sitting out there during a brief rain-shower and enjoyed an cocktail.
Downstairs, there is a small common room with a coffee maker, some cookies, more complimentary water, tea, and hot chocolate. There are some chairs setup around a dining room table but it is not really setup as a gathering place like you might be accustomed to at a B&B. Breakfast is not served but instead, a breakfast voucher good for an entrée and a drink for each morning for Cody's on 4th Avenue (less than 5 minute walk straight down street from the inn). It was wonderful and I think that the owner made a smart choice to partner with a local breakfast place versus trying to have a breakfast for a small inn of this size each morning. We saw this as a positive. The only drawback is that you don't get a chance to interact with the other guest because the no one is sitting down for breakfast or relaxing in the small common room. Not a huge deal for us, especially since we were here for our anniversary but simply stated if that is something that you look forward to when staying at a B&B, you really don't have the opportunity at this inn. One other unique note is that there is an ancient typewriter in the common room. If you type a letter, the inn will provide an envelope and stamp and mail it for you. My wife surprised me by typing a sweet letter to me thanking me for the weekend and it showed up at our house a few days later after we got back. Kind of a novelty item but nonetheless a very nice touch.
Overall, we were very pleased with the stay and had a great time. Mt. Dora is such a quaint little town that has so many good restaurant options (we dined at Goblin Market and Piece's Rising for two dinners and Tony's Chowder House for lunch). The location of the inn is perfect to walk to about everywhere (and they even provide umbrellas for the rooms for those Florida afternoon showers). The room met our needs and was clean and comfortable (for the most part, sans a little more AC). The owner and the innkeeper were both very nice and we are glad that we stayed there to celebrate our anniversary.
- Global597203 (10/5): Charming Inn - We had the pleasure of staying at the Inn for one evening recently. We were in Miss Elsie's room, and it was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The owner Rachel, and the innkeeper Ruth, were both welcoming and accommodating. Breakfast is served a very short walk away at Cody's on 4th and was very good. It was a wonderful visit.
- Bruce (10/5): - Located right down town, easy walk to all the shops and restaurants.
Small but well appointed, great staff.
- Thomas (10/5): - Well maintained and convenient location
- William (8/5): Breakfast Voucher - Breakfast voucher given instead of a breakfast. No breakfast at the bed & breakfast. Great staff, shaky bed.
- Kristie (10/5): Top notch! Clean , beautiful, amazing! - Absolutely amazing. The details and service was top shelf. I can’t wait to go back !
- Tina (10/5): - We desperately needed a timeout from work and the Inn afforded us that! It was quiet, clean and walking distance to all that downtown Dora has to offer.
- Randall (10/5): - Beautiful old home converted into a bed and breakfast. Rachel and her staff were simply outstanding. Historical home with modern amenities. Short 1 block walk to the beginning of Mt Dora's shopping and entertainment district. Beautiful lake area and incredible dining options. The rooms there are tastefully decorated and very comfortable. We were in "Dicks" Room ( rooms are named after the person that was in that room when it was a family home ) and the bed was extremely comfortable. It was the perfect spot to celebrate our 40th wedding anniverary. We will be back.....
- Al (10/5): - Very nice
- 916katyw (10/5): Wonderful Weekend Getaway - We were visit for a friend’s wedding but it was also our 7 year anniversary so we turned it into a little weekend getaway! Mount Dora Historic Inn made us feel so special, with a sweet note and gift to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed in Mr. Charlie’s Room, which was spacious and cozy at the same time. The shower was a bit tight but everything else was exactly what we needed. The staff was very kind and helpful. The Inn is located right on the edge of town making it very walkable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to come back in the future!
- A3956GTpamelam (10/5): You REALLY should stay here - We just stayed there for our anniversary. The customer service is above and beyond. They add a million personal touches which made our stay so enjoyable. The inn is right near all the shops and restaurants so you can park for the weekend and just walk around. The bed was comfortable and the inn was very quiet. It felt like we had our own personal hideaway. We will definitely stay there again.
- Savannah (10/5): - It was a wonderful stay! The place was so cute and quaint. Great location, walking distance to downtown.
- honeybear12345 (10/5): Delightful Inn - Delightful inn, very well maintained, attention to details. Lovely coffee/ tea bar with light snacks. Free parking, comfortable bedrooms and plenty of amenities. Loved the breakfast option of dining in town. Delicious breakfast.
Will stay there again.
- RODNEY (10/5): - We had a wonderful time. The hospitality was impressive as usual. It is one of our favorite Inns in Florida.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not e true Bed and Breakfast - Absentee proprietor, staff at inn minimally.
No home cooked breakfast, given voucher to coffee shop down the street. Cold in public areas and cameras in public areas.
Not a warm, cozy place.
- Leenbob (10/5): Historic Mt. Dora Inn is delightful!! - Christmas season in Mt. Dora is a special event! Staying at the Mt. Dora Historic Inn was wonderful! Only four bedrooms in the Inn but each bedroom is decorated so nice, clean and makes you feel at home! Wednesday is a wonderful Innkeeper and the owner Rachel is available for any requests or any needs you might have. We got vouchers for an excellent breakfast right down the street. The Inn is perfectly located a few blocks from the center of town but also on a quiet street. We would give it an easy A rating. We had a wonderful meal at Goblin Marketplace. The Christmas displays throughout the historic town were amazing. I plan to come back next year at Christmas with my girlfriends!!
- luis (10/5): - everything was great dont change anything.
- David (10/5): - The inn was located right near the downtown shopping district and the many boutique shops and restaurants.
The staff was very attentive and welcoming. We plan to visit again!
- AlanT308 (10/5): Great time at the Inn - We stayed at the inn with another couple and had a great time last week - over the Xmas holiday.
The inn has four suites- two are upstairs and right across from each other which was fun and convenient when staying with friends or family.
The owners Rachel and Michael were there at the same time and made sure we had everything needed for a great stay.
Looking forward to going back again soon!
- ANA (10/5): - Lovely bed and breakfast in the heart of Mount Dora....guests are given a breakfast voucher for Cody's on 4th, which serves really yummy food. The innkeepers were very warm and welcoming. Hope to be back next year and enjoy the Xmas lights once more.
- Gary (10/5): - Great
- mary ann (10/5): - This B&B is perfect for visiting Mount Dora. It is one half block from downtown and no need for an automobile to go to dinner. Many dining choices. Breakfast was at a coffee cafe one block from the B&B. Very nice breakfast choices for our vouchers. Highly recommend.
- Frank (10/5): Great place to stay - The room was very clean and the location was very condition shopping and restaurants
The in keeper was pleasant and will to make our stay pleasurable
- Carole (10/5): Fleeing Ian - Our room was clean and cheerfully decorated. Being that my husband has COPD the stairs were a bit difficult. Overall, staff was friendly and thoughtful
- Katharine (10/5): - The property is very close to the shopping and dining district - you can walk to everything. That's really important since parking is so limited in the area. I stayed in Dick's room, which had a lovely peek view of the lake and sunset views. It's a charming place and I will definitely come back again!
- Karen (10/5): - The property was very, very nice, super clean & well-kept. Host & Innkeeper were warm & welcoming. The location was perfect with everything within walking distance. We hope to return.
- Randy Michael (10/5): - We enjoyed the service and the nice amenities at the lodging. It was in a beautiful setting, a mere block away from all the stores and restaurants. It felt like being on a honeymoon.
- Timothy (10/5): - The location of the inn is great for those who wish to park and walk the downtown area to shop & eat. The staircase to the 2nd floor rooms is rather steep & narrow. Our room was clean neat and comfortable.
- Erin (10/5): - The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The town is lovely and quaint and the inn was steps away from everything. The room was clean and comfortable. Will stay there the next time I visit Mount Dora!
- Cindy (10/5): - We have stayed in this inn before and really like the Host, the rooms are clean & comfortable, the Inn is in walking distance of the downtown shops and eateries.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Right in downtown. Able to walk and explore most of the main attractions in town.
- Steven (10/5): Excellent Choice - We received a warm/friendly welcome, little gifts in the room, and they accommodated my request to have a special birthday cake for my wife when we arrived. Most enjoyable; will be doing it again.
- John (10/5): - The room was extremely clean and nicely furnished.
- John (10/5): - Our stay was very comfortable while enjoying the historical aspects of the home. Our favorite feature was that it is located within a very short walk to excellent restaurants and fun unique shops!
- Janina (10/5): - Our stay was great. Excellent customer service and location.
- Willard (10/5): - Fantastic property, great location
- Edward (10/5): - Great
- Lucy (10/5): A Get-Away - This B&B is centrally located in Mt Dora and in walking distance to shops and restaurants. Very convenient. It was a good value for the price. The room was neat and clean. The only draw back was not enough seating in the room. The breakfast was out sourced and was mediocre. Our stay was pleasant and would definitely recommend the Mt Dora Historic Inn.
- Helene (10/5): - Loved the Coupon for breakfast at Cody 4! The food was excellent!
Comment: Since this was a quaint, historic home...the electric outlets in the room are very limited. In this day and age travelers one or more computers, watches ,iPads phones to charge. So it would be good to have some strip cords available and accessible for the guest.
- Steve (10/5): - Loved our two days there!
- jesus (10/5): - Charming little house converted to BNB. It's a block away from the heart of Mt. Dora with plenty of little local stores, casual eating and shopping. Had a great time.
- Catherine (10/5): Historic - The Inn was in the heart of town and a short walk to restaurants and shops. The room was comfortable and clean.
- Kathy (10/5): Just right great location - Comforting, quiet. Beautiful old home. Breakfast off site was excellent.
- Deborah (10/5): - Very charming and unusual....people very friendly & helpful.
- Kenneth (8/5): - Very convenient to walk to the village. Nice shops and restaurants.
- ANA (10/5): - Charming, clean and conveniently located in town.
- robert (10/5): - Very nice, clean place!!!
- Janette (10/5): Beautiful little Inn! - The Mt. Dora Historic Inn is lovely and quaint. The location is fantastic! You just park your car in their lot and everything is within walking distance. We reserved "Dicks Room" which is upstairs. The stairs are a bit steep and narrow and I had trouble navigating my suitcase. But the bed and room are beautiful, comfortable. The owner is terrific with communication and was able to accommodate an early check in for us. I would definitely return!
- June (10/5): - Excellent location. Clean, comfortable room. Had everything we needed. The restaurant that was arranged for us had wonderfui food.
- Sandra (6/5): - The person registering us never even asked for ID. When we asked the location of a very popular restaurant, she was unaware that it was only two blocks away from the inn. We felt she was impersonal and unfriendly.
We had no complaints regarding the accommodations but felt that staying in a bed and breakfast we would have had a homier experience.
- Barbara (6/5): - Room was very small and chair in room was like sitting on the floor the pillows on the bed were like rocks. I had a terrible stiff neck after 2 nights
