Guest Reviews
- Suzanne (10/5): - Great little unit staff wonderful very helpful
- Pamela (4/5): Not what it is cracked up to be - This unit was below the standard it was advertised as.The bed was hard and smelled of smoke. The bathroom has been renovated but the towels were old, thin and smelly. It all had an acrid smokey smell. Free parking and easy check-in was good.
- KerriK (8/5): - Clean and comfortable... comfy bed.. hot water and pleasant room
- andrew (6/5): Convenient overnight stop - Convenient overnight stop en-route down east coast and visit to Bay of Fires area.
- Anthony (10/5): - Absolutely perfect for what we required.
Clean bedding & a great shower.
I’d be happy to stay again when I’m in the area.
We stayed 2 nights 👍👍
- Verified traveler (4/5): Can do better - Has potential to be cute and comfy but unfortunately missed the note as the accommodation needs more modern renovation, fresher kitchen utensils, refurbishment of the floors and more heaters.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not a good stay - So much potential but definitely in need of refurbishing. Very 1970s. Many things were of poor quality or not working well.
- Sara (8/5): - It was a cozy little place that had everything I needed. Check in was a breeze and it’s just a short stroll to the nearest beach. It was well signed from the main highway as well.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful, cosy and clean room. Great location and service.
- Stephen (10/5): - Friendly staff and a cosy cabin made for an enjoyable stay
- Donna (10/5): One night Stay - Carmen's Inn is a clean, comfortable place to rest our weary bones
- Derek (8/5): - Lovely, friendly staff and location.accomodstion very good clean and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): nothing Flash but good Homely Place - Was comfortable with walking distance to the beach
Caretaker was friendly and accommodating.
Unit appears to be setup for disabled clients but fails with features
Unit needs some maintenance and other features looked at
1. Door lock doesn't work properly
2. Range hood light did not work.
3. Only 1 light over the kitchen bench worked.
4. Shower is huge but needs a Grab rail on the wall for support and peace of mind
5. Toilet is positioned in the middle of the bathroom ( 1.8M wide ) and the the Grab rails fitted are way too far to far away from the toilet to be of any assistance for a disabled or elderly persons.( mounted on side walls )
Better Grab rail systems are available to suit these situations
Fly screen wire in bathroom needs replacing
Shower head system needs work
A cosy , self contained unit for the traveler who doesn't mind it being quaint
- Umpy (8/5): Carmens Was Great - Our previous location was a disaster so we were happy to be in such a welcoming environment
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great quiet place to stay

- William (10/5): Hotel Super ! - le lieux est magnifique, la chambre vraiment très propre et le personnel génial.
Je recommande l'hôtel :)
- John (10/5): Great location to visit sites for this part of Tas - Able to come and go freely. We had a separate dine in kitchen. Enough space to plan next days events and itinerary from our wish list. Just outdoors you can see the ocean and an outdoor setting.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Vicky waited for us for the late check-in. The unit has everything we need for an overnight stay.
- Scott (10/5): Clean, comfortable, cosy - Very enjoyable stay with a friendly welcome. Good cooking facilities, even had ketchup and olive oil which is great as we forgot to bring some with us!
- Verified traveler (10/5): View of the beach - Friendly welcome
Helpful attitude
Well equipped kitchen
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good place to rest for the night - Easy to find location. As we were unloading, we were greeted by the site manager who was there to answer questions and make sure we had everything needed. As we only needed a place to rest at night, we were extremely happy with the accommodation. Working kitchen with microwave, fridge, kettle, sink and utensils. Large shower area with shower supplies. Quiet area.
- Anna (8/5): - comfortable stay with spacious room and close to the beach.
- Barb (8/5): Clean, comfortable accommodation - Spacious unit compared to most we have stayed in with a great outside deck. Clean and comfortable, easy check in process and friendly staff. As we were in middle unit we did get some noise from units each side but it was not excessive and we would stay here again
- Cheryl (10/5): Quiet central accommodation - Had a lovely stay, unit well equipped and self contained. Friendly staff very helpful. Unit clean and comfy. Without question I would stay here again if travelling to Scamander.
- jules (8/5): Comfortable, clean and friendly - We were on a flying visit and this suited us well the host was friendly, showed us to our cottage explained the appliances and was a great help in regard to the local eateries.
The rooms were spotless, some items a little dated but everything was clean and in working order.
- Valerie (8/5): Found it a good base for seeing that area. - Really enjoyed the quiet location but easy distance to tourist attractions.
- BARRY W (8/5): - This was ok to stay in Vicky the caretaker lady was very helpful
- Kathryn (10/5): Friendly staff and great location - They treat you like family. Were so friendly and gave great advice in the book in the room about where you can visit around them. They bought my washing in as I was out and it started raining. Excellent view too.
- Gary (2/5): Old dated rooms. No-one there to check in to room. - Booked online, got confirmation. Attended "Carmens Inn" just prior yo sunset to settle in for the night.
No-one was there.. Walked around looking for notes or room.. nothing. Phoned "Carmens Inn" phone rung out.
Drove to St Helens and looked around phoned again and finally got through.
Drove back at night and got to an out dated stale smelling room.
Will not use again nor will I recommend.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - Loved it that we could see and hear the waves smashing on the beach
- conan (8/5): Nice Inn in the small town. - The room is clean and tidy, you can prepare simple dinner or breakfast i the room. There is a friendly small dog living in this private owned inn.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Apartment in a quiet location. - # 3.. A no fuss, comfortable apartment with microwave 4 ring electric stove etc. Bathroom is large but has no furniture to put down a toiletry bag or rest a toothbrush. Shower cubicle likewise for soap or gel except to place them on the floor.
- Max (10/5): Convenient over night stop - Clean, tidy, comfortable, value for money, exceeded expectations
- lynn (10/5): NICELY SELF CONTAINED - roomy place. comfortable bed. microwave, toaster et
- Sandra (10/5): Cosy by the water - Great Place to stay near the water for an economy rental
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great value, pleanty of room with all the utilities you need for a home away from home, would go again!
- Julie (8/5): Comfortable; much better than expected - Roomy, good kitchen with a stove. Parking just outside door, so convenient for carrying luggage in. Big bathroom.
However, the bathroom could do with several hooks to hang clothes from and a shelf to place other things on. This though is a common problem with many places of accommodation.
Bed was on the slightly too soft side, but that's a personal thing.
The place is a little shabby, but not enough to make a fuss about. The pluses out number the negatives. A good place to stay.
- krishna (10/5): Scenic view of beach from hotel - Hotel is at the center, accessible 2 allike needs. Scenic view of the ocean from room is memorable.
- Angela (10/5): Full equiped - A clean and comfortable accommodation with the kitchen stocked with all the utensils needed to cook a meal.
- lyn (10/5): great hotel - It was wonderful ,every convenience ,provided ,and well kept and friendly ,
- Michelle (8/5): Simple, budget, good value. - Clean, comfortable facilities at an excellent price and close to beach. Could do with an upgrade to cooking facilities, but overall very good for the price. Owner very polite and helpful.
- Dom (8/5): Comfy and home-y - The inn is easy to find and identify. It's nearby a beach so morning walks are your friends. It's also relatively comfy and is a snag for the price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great room with plenty of amenities - I enjoyed my stay at Carmens Inn. The place was clean, and spacious. Although the furniture isn't the newest (as you can see in the photos), it was perfectly fine, and felt quite homey. I wished I could stay another night, since this place is such great value for money.
- chuck (8/5): relaxing - very nice room ,friendly staff ,great location. bring your own food! nothing open while we were there.
- Christine (10/5): Peaceful retreat near the beach - We spent one night here and it was a great place. Communication with the staff was quick and everything, including the cot, was ready and clean for us upon arrival. The one bedroom unit was nice and tidy. The beach is right down the hill and just a short walk away. I would highly recommend Carmens!
- belinda (8/5): Relaxing - Very comfortable and relaxing. Wonderful staff. Friendly and helpful. Loved it.
- Liam (8/5): Nice hotel near the beach - It was a one-night stop for us during our Tasmania road trip. The unit was big, including a bathroom, a fully-equipped kitchen, a big bedroom with a queen size bed and a lounge room. We were amazed to see two powerful portable heaters prepared for us. Love all the pots and pans in the kitchen. We felt pitty that we were planning on cooking. It was a comfortable stay!
- Heather (10/5): Comfy & peaceful - Found the unit easy to find..slept like a log..they have the best shower and plan to go back again :-)
- missie (6/5): Too Cold for Winter - We stayed one night recently. Although the staff were pleasant and put the heater on in our room well before we arrived, the room was still cold. Found a second heater and put that on as well. By morning we had finally warmed up. I shouldnt be too critical as this is obviously a summer holiday town and probably lots to do to enjoy the area BUT assessing the accommodation alone, in winter, probably could find better for the price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - There is nothing much around the neighbourhood. Accomodation was clean, with kitchenware available for cooking. The staff was helpful and friendly, replacing our heater for us as quickly as possible when we indicate that it wasn't working. However, no wifi was available in the cabin during our stay.
