• Joshnosh (6/5): Faded glory - We stayed at the Capitol Kempinski recently for my husband’s birthday and there were definitely parts of the stay we really enjoyed. The reception team were excellent throughout and genuinely helpful whenever we needed anything. The location is fantastic, the room itself was very spacious, the bathroom was lovely, (I had so much fun with the Japanese bidet style toilet) and the quality of the breakfast was very good. Unfortunately though, the hotel itself feels like it’s starting to look a bit tired in places and there were quite a few annoyingly small issues during our stay that all add up and actually shouldn’t happen in this standard of hotel and at this price. Both wardrobe doors stuck constantly and the wardrobe layout wasn’t especially practical for dresses anyway, unless you happen to be fortunate enough to get away with wearing mini dresses which I am not . The safe kept flashing an error code and bleeping until somebody fixed it. The windows were noticeably dirty giving the room a bit of a dingy feel and the curtains didn’t properly close all the way across. The toilet seat wouldn’t stay up, (not a problem for me but hubby struggled I think ). The lighting wasn’t great for doing makeup, and daft as it sounds, housekeeping only supplied four teabags, all different types. We both drink English Breakfast tea, so having one bag each of four random teas felt a bit odd. Even a small touch like a couple of biscuits in the room would have been nice. I was also surprised the toiletries were still the tiny plastic bottles rather than refillable ones, which feels quite outdated now. Turndown service was very inconsistent as well. We were told to remove the do not disturb sign if we wanted the room serviced in the evening, which we did, but some nights it happened and some nights it didn’t. Breakfast was another mixed area. The food itself was good quality, but on two mornings the service and organisation felt quite chaotic. The bar area especially could really do with refreshing. Some of the banquette seating had visible drink stains and generally looked worn. One barman also seemed thoroughly unimpressed that we arrived about 10 minutes before opening time, even though we were perfectly happy to wait. What’s frustrating is that underneath all of this you can still see that this was once a really luxurious hotel, and probably still thinks of itself that way, but it now feels like it’s overdue for a proper refresh and a bit more attention to detail. Without the warmth and professionalism of the staff this probably would have been a 2-star review rather than a 3. They really were the best part of the stay. Overall we didn’t have a terrible experience, but for the price being charged now, I honestly don’t think I’d choose to stay there again.

• itsangza (10/5): This Kempinski Is the True Gem in Asia - Located in the core of Singapore's City Hall district, the hotel is formed by the renovation and integration of two century-old historical landmarks: Stamford House and Capitol Building. Looking back at history, Stamford Raffles landed in Singapore in 1819, opening the way for it to become a global trade hub. In 1887, Raffles Hotel was completed, laying the model for luxury hotels in Southeast Asia. In 1904, Stamford House was put into use as a reception annex of Raffles Hotel. In 1930, Capitol Building was completed, standing side by side with Stamford House to form the commercial core of the time. Both share an inherent connection with Raffles Hotel in terms of Nanyang colonial aesthetics. Restored by architect Richard Meier, the two buildings have been infused with modern artistic elements while retaining the textures of Victorian style, such as limestone columns and bas-reliefs. They have become a comprehensive project integrating retail, theaters, hotels and residences, and finally opened to the public under the Kempinski brand in 2018. The hotel's entrance is low-key and secluded, surrounded by greenery, with various luxury vehicles parked for guests to explore the city. As the only Kempinski in Asia-Pacific selected into Leading Hotels of the World (LHW), it fully displays the German-style hospitality and colonial-style atmosphere. The bathroom is equipped with double vanities, a bathtub and a rare bidet, and insists on using small bottles of Ferragamo toiletries. The Capitol Wing houses a fully functional fitness center and an outdoor saltwater pool. 15 Stamford, the all-day dining restaurant on the first floor of the Stamford Wing, offers a semi-buffet breakfast covering diverse flavors, with authentic local classic dishes. The Capitol Kempinski Singapore has found a perfect balance between the old and the new, retaining the marks of Nanyang history while taking into account modern comfort, showing German-style taste. This is not a paid review, just my genuine experience. Firstly, I want to recognise a few incredible members of staff who truly made our stay special: Savnee – what an absolute credit to the hotel. Always greeting us with a warm smile, she consistently went above and beyond with recommendations and advice. Despite being an intern, her professionalism, kindness, and genuine care stood out every single day. She really made a difference to our experience. Management, please ensure she is recognised—she is a true asset to your team. David – a true gentleman. He always made time for us, offering helpful advice on places to visit and the best routes to take. He was especially kind and gentle with my autistic son, which meant so much to us as a family. Thank you for your care and kindness throughout our stay. The concierge (tall, slim Indian gentleman – I’m so sorry I didn’t catch his name) – every time we needed assistance, he was there. From helping with taxis and luggage to greeting us so warmly each day, his service was exceptional. He even gave my child a thoughtful gift when we left, which we truly appreciated. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am genuinely grateful to have met such wonderful people—they are what made this stay memorable. Pros: - The location is fantastic—very central and convenient - Breakfast was excellent with great service Cons: - Room service was quite slow - The room itself felt dated and not well maintained (dusty areas, scratched flooring, lack of towel rails) - No convenient charging points in the bathroom (e.g. for toothbrushes) - The open-plan layout may not suit everyone—personally, I prefer more separation between spaces - Management came across as quite cold and not very welcoming, which was disappointing for a hotel of this standard For a hotel of this reputation, I expected cleaner, more modern, and better-maintained rooms, so this was surprising. A side note for travellers: the weather in Singapore is extremely humid. Even with air-conditioned transport, you can feel very uncomfortable getting around. We ended up relying on taxis and ride apps like Grab to get around more comfortably. Overall, while the hotel has a great location and some truly outstanding staff, there are areas, particularly management approach and room quality that could be significantly improved.

• Fearless47243553310 (10/5): Classic Singaporean Luxury - I arrived in Singapore prepared for several days of business this April and was pleasantly surprised as I stepped into The Capitol Kempinski. I am an avid traveler and though luxury and comfort is critical, the increase in “cookie cutter” luxury is always disappointing. Capitol Kempinski is not “cookie cutter”. It is unmistakably Singaporean heritage and quiet luxury. It captures your attention as you step into the lobby, akin to a receiving room. The staff sit behind large mahogany desks and share stories of this hotel as they check you in. The hotel in its previous incarnation was a theater that welcomed Ava Gardner and Charlie Chaplin. It retains the classic architecture of old world Singapore luxury coupled with modern amenities. The hotel’s attention to detail emanated throughout all aspects of my stay, starting with the colonial-era styled lobby where it was cozy but never felt crowded, to the sealed classic glass water carafes in lieu of plastic bottles set on the nightstands of the Asian Art-deco styled room. The highlight of the stay was the exceptional service provided by David who went above and beyond. He was warm and charming, with stories of the hotel in its previous incarnation and the current restorative efforts. As days of meetings progressed, he was always ready with a smile and suggestions for where to go in the few free hours I had, whether it was off-the-beaten path bars for Singapore Slings, world renowned chicken and rice, or a relaxing foot massage. In a world where we are consumed by work and digital efficiency, David is a beacon of what classic hospitality is and should be. I would not hesitate to recommend spending time at this lovely heritage hotel and when you see David, please let him know I said hello.

Thank you so much and it made our stay so much better and happier! Celebrating our “Monthsary” again and this time with Kempinski. Total no regrets and great stay for the super short last minute booking. Rooms are spacious and room assigned comes with enclosed balcony. Nice corner for work or a sip of coffee and enjoy the afternoon sun or busy evening. Branded toiletries, big bath room and no sign of wear and tears, well maintained. Cleanliness needless to mention, clean enough that we don’t need any bedroom slippers in room. Service stands out and felt welcome the very moment we drove in. Greeted with the Muslim gentleman concierge (I assume) and later on good handling of check in experience. Room service is available 24 hours. Good food and pricing average (comparing same luxury 5 stars hotel in room dining.). Big portion and quality food, like the fries with angus beef burger. Burger patty very perfectly done and fries too with adequate seasonings. Pool is small like bout half a lap big but it’s a heritage hotel so no high expectation on this. Sunscreen provided for both adults and children which is a plus point. For tourists that are travelling, this definitely a superb location to stay as it’s connected with the mrt stations with lotsa big brands and malls around.

The location is excellent - easy walking distance to a lot of Singapore's top attractions. The onsite bar & lounge is very cool and has a fun vibe. We loved breakfast in the morning - a great selection of food served buffet style, plus options to order off the menu. My only critique about breakfast is that the staff were often slow to remove dirty plates from the table - but otherwise, everything was great. I was working US hours so needed to take some calls in the middle of the night, and found a nice location on the 4th floor that was quiet. My daughters loved the pool - I never quite made it there. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Singapore.

Its staff, location, service, well appointed rooms, - There's so much to love about this hotel - the staff, location, the fabulous breakfast, our beautiful suite (221, The Stamford - this room comes with the Executive Lounge so you can have a cocktail & appetizer each day!), the gym, concierge - so many things that we all look for and want, in a hotel. The details in how you treat a guest is what separates hotels. This hotel pays attention to everything small and big, and it shows. They even held a tour of the famous building and it was a delight. I would easily recommend this hotel, and would go back every chance I get (though i live in the States). Kudos to the management for teaching and encouraging your staff to obtain and maintain a personal touch with your guests - we wholeheartedly appreciated it.

• Wander22124173364 (10/5): Lovely staycation at Kempinski - Had a lovely staycation at The Capitol Kempinski Hotel Singapore with my mum! We stayed in the Heritage Room which was spacious, clean, and even had a bathtub. The bed was super comfy with fluffy pillows — perfect for a relaxing stay. The staff were very warm and welcoming, and they even surprised my mum with a small birthday cake since her birthday was during our stay. We also tried the afternoon tea and it was amazing — lots of savoury items and sweet desserts, all especially delicious 🤤 Overall, it was a wonderful stay with great service and a convenient location for a night city walk around the city.

As a GHA Titanium member, I find the level of professionalism here to be unmatched. ​The team handles every request with genuine care, making the "feels like home" sentiment actually ring true. It is rare to find a hotel that balances world-class luxury with such a personal, welcoming touch. I am always happy to return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for the best in Singapore.
• itbp (2/5): It was a joke!!! A very unpleasant experience. - Wanted to have a beautiful start of our wedding anniversary celebration so we chose Kempinski in Singapore. I regretted choosing this hotel as it was the worst decision I’ve made. No recognition for GHA titanium member and waited for a long time for a room. After that many hours of waiting, upon entering the room, the room was filthy smell - moldy and toilets, shower place were so dirty. Told the staff of the condition and was only given a purifier but nothing else change - dare not shower as it was worst than public toilets, dare not sleep as my asthma flared up due to the moldy air. On the day of departure told another staff, Khairol he was so nice and went to inspect the room. He was shocked the condition of the room. The manager, Khai kindly gave us 50% discount but seriously they should refunded us full due to the condition of the room. No upgrade, no early checkin as a titanium member. Very disappointing experience and start of our celebration.

Kai perkamas tikrai ne pats pigiausias kambarys ir tau sakoma, kad tu gavai pagerinta kambari tai nesitiki tikrai gauti langus su vaizdu i pastato vidu. Kambaryje tarp sofos ir lovos buvo 10 cm. labai napatogus kambarys - ypac su mazu vaiku.

• Jai In (10/5): Awesome stay with friendly and attentive staff and great bang for buck. - The location was great, the staff were so friendly and attentive, and the housekeeper Giang was so friendly - it was great to be greeted by her every day. The breakfast buffet offered a good range. It was a clean room however there were spots and stains throughout the room - on the carpets, in the shower, in the nooks around the bathtub, etc.

• Mark (10/5): A splendid hotel! - An excellent hotel in a good central location in Singapore. The hotel was a mix of colonial grandeur with all modern conveniences. Our bedroom was a good size with a massive bathroom. The staff were fantastic- nothing was too much trouble and they were all so helpful. The staff were a credit to the hotel. There was nothing to dislike!

Also, because our stay was over the Christmas season, there was an evening concert in the shopping arcade that made it very noisy until 11pm.

• ZHOU (10/5): - Singapore left a wonderful impression on me. The country is spotless, the people are genuinely warm and welcoming, and I was truly impressed by the professionalism and hospitality of the hotel staff. As the room was facing the main street, traffic noise at night could occasionally be disruptive. Additionally, the handheld shower was not functioning properly, though it was a relatively minor inconvenience.

• Doris (10/5): Our stay was at the end of a long vacation and it could not have been a more perfect place to bring our vacation to an e - Location and staff were excellent. Bedding very comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding with so much choice and yummy dishes. No outlet in bathroom for hair dryer.
