• Kenneth (6/5): Fint hotel der kan gøre det bedre - Pænt ældre hotel der trænger til en renovering, men værelset var fint Men skal være opmærksom på at der er en del larm fra havnen og trafikken fra vejen, det er ikke slemt men hvis man forventer et roligt sted skal man finde noget andet,,, hvis det overhovedet er muligt i Gibraltar Rengøringen af værelset var mangelfuld, med badeværelses døre på 226 det ikke var rengjort og panelerne har ikke været tørret af i meget lang tid, balkonen var gulvet snavset

Reception on a mezzanine level with no lift access seems a poor design, luckily we only had lightweight baggage. Breakfast was super busy and staff seemed overwhelmed with everyone arriving at the same time. The pool across a very busy road was very disappointing and opening times didn't allow for an early morning swim. We were just out of season so perhaps this is better at peak times. A bridge or some kind of street crossing would help but it was lovely when you got there.

• Paul (8/5): - The food and the views from the room balcony. In our room the coffee cups were dirty, not cleaned from previous occupants. The complimentary water in the fridge had also been opened and partly consumed. The milk for the tea and coffee was also not replaced after the first night. Room service trays with leftover food were also left in the corridors outside of the rooms until the following morning, 20+ hours in some cases. Disappointing for a hotel in this price range. We've stayed at this hotel before, three years ago and had no problems then.

• Hervé (9/5): Un lieu attachant et au site exceptionnel dont la qualité n’est pas à la hauteur du prix trop élevé vu les imperfections - La vie exceptionnelle, le parking gratuit et la chambre ainsi que le breakfast britannique. Un certain négligé dans l’entretien du bâtiment et des abords, des travaux en cours gênants, un manque de rigueur dans le management de l’hôtel visible, une route dangereuse et bruyante à traverser pour aller à la belle piscine et au parking.

• Sian (6/5): Not as expected and disappointed overall - The hotel appeared to be clean and the food was stunning. Very good value for money and the drinks were reasonably priced aswel. Staff were friendly. Beds were comfortable When arriving at the hotel, i was made to wait 3 hours before my room was ready as the extra bed requested, and acknowledged by the hotel months prior to our arrival, was not ready. I ordered balloons as a suprise for my husband 30th birthday and these were taken throigh the lobby where we waited so the suprise was ruined. The room we were allocated was nothing like the pictures advertised although appeared to be clean it was a lot more dated that our expectation. Our stay was for 1 week and in that time our bed linen was not changed. Toiletries were not replenished unless you asled at reception and no bath robes in the room (also advertised). We had no hot water all day for 2 days and when it was eventually back on we couldnt get rid of the brown tinge for another day. The hotel pool is not in the hotel grounds but directly across the main road

• Roger (6/5): Overall disappointing as far as value for money was concerned, the bathroom is a disaster. - The room size was generous The huge bathroom only contained a bath with a shower over. There was plenty of space for a dedicated shower. But! The shower over the bath wasn’t even thermostatically controlled so setting a comfortable temperature was almost impossible, also the towels need to be fluffier, For a hotel charging over £500 for two nights I get the impression that the Rock is resting on its laurels and needs a good shake up.

• Tony (6/5): Ho-hum and a bit ordinary. - Fabulous view and had history. It was a fair way up the hill so you had a good workout if you were walking down to the Main Street and then up again. There was a nice terrace to sit in the afternoon and have a drink. We did get free parking for our motorcycle. It was sort of generally a bit old and tired and lacked the care a 4 star property needs. The breakfast was really ordinary compared to some of the other places we have stayed in Spain. It’s good to embrace British-ness but not including some of the good food that Spain offers is a little disappointing.

The view of the harbour and the botanical gardens opposite was very pleasant. The room was cleaned and made up every day. The staff were very pleasant, polite and informative. The bar was comfortable, well decorated and the beer was reasonably priced. Nothing.

• Ben (6/5): 4 star restaurant and bar area. 3 Star dated rooms - We booked 3 different rooms in The Rock Hotel, they all have sea views. The rock hotel is quite high up so you have a lovely view over Gibraltar into the sea. The breakfast is British traditional, fry up with proper sausages, eggs on order (fried, poached) and your continental selections you would expect, with some local favourites as well. The bar and restaurant are up market and lovely. The outdoor seating area is also very nice on a warm day. The staff are amenable and helpful. The food was exceptional. 4 star restaurant and bar area, which is upmarket and lovely. 3 Star rooms which are hit and miss. One had a leak in the light, another had a dated balcony that needed some maintenance (and red ants). Our room had no problems, but was dated and lacked amenities (iron and ironing board, very dated hairdryer). The stairs had carpet which must have been placed in the 80s, and the corridors lack character. The rooms are such a contrast to the lovely areas available to guests. On the restaurant menu, sides are to be ordered with mains as you won't get vegetables etc.

Every member of the hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the cocktails in Ghazi’s bar are well worth trying The bathroom / WC in our room was slightly cramped.

• Liz (6/5): Almost a very pleasant stay. They need to try harder - The location is fantastic and the sea view is amazing. The staff were mainly kind, especially waiting staff in restaurants and bars. The food in the restaurant was very good. The pool area is very pleasant. The hotel is trading on an old worldiness vibe. That can go so far but if common areas are not clean, big weeds are in window boxes at the bar overlooking the sea. When double glazing doesn't seal properly and the very noisy road outside encroaches on your sleep, when charging cables left in rooms mysteriously go missing despite following up very soon after checking out, - the sum is it is less than enjoyable. To top it off there was one check in staff member who was inefficient, disinterested, unhelpful and scruffy. If staff are to wear white shirts then let's make sure they are indeed white and ironed and if the uniform calls for a necktie and then let's make sure they are clean and tied properly. Not a good advertisement for the first impression of the hotel.

• Reimchen (7/5): would stay again - needs a sidewalk across busy road to parking as one has to scamper across, george and georgina macaque graced us with their presence with george coming to our door, very good sleeping with excellent mattress and very good pillows, poor internet but so what, this was a great place for a rest, quiet, excellent views, could hear song birds each day, all in all a pleasant place and the only other thing are the steep roads leading up to the hotel which are a bit bothersome for us senior people.

All the staff we dealt with were very polite and courteous We arrive and checked in early , we weren’t able to access our room until later which is fair however we were not told on checking in that the hotel would have no hot water , we had a letter given to us 4 hours after check in .. likewise we were not informed of this before arrival via email .. we were there for a wedding so very disappointed , we were given no compensation or even a free drink ?? The hotel decor is tired , there are large areas of rotted plaster where damp has got In , there was mould on the walls behind the curtains. Breakfast was quite disjointed and food would run out ( as a buffet breakfast) but take along time to be replenished ..

Se o teleférico estivesse a funcionar penso que a localização seria perfeita. Ainda assim, penso que à localização é boa para quem gosta de caminhar a pé um bocadinho (20 a 30 minutos do centro). Tem tudo para ser bom e o serviço reduz a sua qualidade do hotel. O check in foi algo que não quero repetir: apenas pagar e dar a chave do quarto. Esperava no mínimo algo como o pequeno almoço não está incluído mas se desejarem é entre estas e estas horas naquele sítio e custa x. A piscina é… algures. Nunca foi mencionada, onde é, ou o seu funcionamento. Quando fizemos algumas perguntas sobre a reserva natural de Gibraltar, a resposta foi dada como se fôssemos idiotas, com cansaço e sem qualquer paciência. Considero que ainda que possa fazer a pergunta mais entupida, a obrigação que têm é responder com simpatia e entusiasmo. Para este terrível serviço, contribuíram dois homens. Check out, de novo a presença de um dos mesmos homens e mais uma vez a simpatia e eficiência, foram curtas. O recibo do quarto saiu errado e ainda referiu que eu lhe tinha dado o número do quarto errado. Talvez este senhor devesse olhar para os clientes, em vez de olhar para o computador e tomasse mais atenção e em caso de dúvida (pois nem todos são nativos de língua inglesa) volte a perguntar. A limpeza dos quartos deixa a desejar. A título de exemplo uma das chávenas estava partida (lascada). Assim ficou e não foi trocada durante a estagia de 3 noites. O chão do quarto apresentou sujidades que mostram não ser limpo com cuidado. Um dos dias esqueceram de deixar toalhas no wc. Jantamos uma noite no bar do hotel: a entrada foi esquecida, ninguém veio durante o jantar ver se precisávamos de algo. A sobremesa demorou imenso tempo. Tudo demorou tempo ou foi esquecido, como se o restaurante estivesse cheio, o que não era verdade. Ainda assim, no restaurante e bar foram todos simpáticos no contacto.

• Jeff Harvey (10/5): Lovely and historic hotel - We selected the sea view, and it was spectacular; overlooking Algeciras/Gibraltar Bay, and Africa clearly visible across the straight. Our room was nice, comfortable, and everything worked. The Wi-Fi signal in our room was a bit weak, but functioned with careful positioning. Ghazi's Bar is simply wonderful. We were there for 4 nights in the shoulder season, so it was great value. The Rock Hotel was fine. Gibraltar has a taxi shortage, so there's a lot of walking involved when getting around.

• MERCEDES (9/5): Comodidad y tranquilidad en Gibraltar - El desayuno es fantástico, las camas muy cómodas y la suite familiar es impresionante. Todo muy espacioso y con detalles para que nos sintiéramos a gusto. Hacía un poco de frío en las habitaciones. Pusimos el aire acondicionado en modo calefacción y no calentaba mucho. Uno de ellos, en la habitación de las dos camas, no funcionaba.

• Bartłomiej (6/5): - Bardzo wygodne łóżko, wanna w pokoju hotelowym, czysto. Śniadania bardzo brytyjskie, monotonne, brak warzyw, poza pieczonymi pomidorami, brak wędlin. Codziennie ten sam zestaw, jedyne na plus to omlety, które można było zamówić u obsługi. Z uwagi na zamkniętą kolejkę linową, lokalizacja tego hotelu przestała być atrakcyjna, dosyć daleko od centrum i większości atrakcji. Mieliśmy tego pecha, że w trakcie naszego pobytu w hotelu było wesele, co w nocy dostarczyło dodatkowych, niepożądanych atrakcji.

• Kelly Belly (10/5): Perfect - Lovely hotel and lovely staff. It was perfectly located to anywhere you need to go for a start, shops just a few minute walk, bus to the airport just down the road, save money on a taxi. They were very accommodating from the start, we got there early but allowed us to change and leave our luggage. Had a meal in the restaurant which was very nice too, a bit pricey compared to some places but the food was lovely and staff happy to help. View from our room was perfect, couldn't have asked for better. Would definitely go back :) I wish we knew the hotel pool wasn't open before we booked, possibly would have booked the following week

• Donald (10/5): A great stay for our first trip to Gibraltar. - A great hotel with friendly helpful staff. Not the hotels fault but I have difficulty walking up hills. But im glad I didn't research the position as I might not have stayed. And im very happy I did.

• Debbie Swart (9/5): Beautiful stay at The Rock - Beautiful comfortable room with a lovely view of the sunset and sunrise. Loved the location, easy to walk to town and The Rock, but be warned there are steep hills to climb. Service in the bar and restaurant was a little slow.

The inability to book a taxi from reception. The length of time it takes a taxi to arrive. The pool being closed. The lack of seated dressing table where I could plug in a hairdryer in front of a mirror. The music at breakfast.
• sue (10/5): Wonderful special occasion - Here for sons wedding, they received complimentary champagne in their room. Both rooms spacious, clean with very comfy beds and fabulous view. Staff very friendly & helpful particularly reception staff in organising taxis and receiving bridal flowers. Ironing service for grooms shirts excellent Afternoon tea on the terrace was lovely only exception was the squirty synthetic cream for the scones, would be much better with real clotted cream. Room service excellent Overall wouldn’t hesitate to stay again The steep driveway certainly gave my legs a good workout

• Thorsten (8/5): Ein Hotel mit Geschichte, tollem Personal und einem fantastischen Ausblick auf den Hafen. - Die Lage ist besonders, besonders mit Balkon und Ausblick auf den Hafen. Kein Trinkwasser auf dem Zimmer. Ungünstiger Anordnung der Toilette direkt vor dem Waschbecken und für große Menschen sehr unbequem.

• Beryl (5/5): Very disappointed 😞 - The staff were brilliant, but not impressed with room for price very disappointed. Mini bar empty, used bottle of water, no water to drink. No coffee good job we bought our own, cups weren't clean. No iron. Linen and bed very good. Would have been nice to have 2 armchairs. We choose the rock hotel because of its history not impressed. Bar good drinks reasonably priced. Had steak and ale pie, horrible very dry. Normally I would have sent it back but was with a friend who was getting married and didn't want to spoil occasion. On the whole not a good experience. Sorry 😞 As above

• Glenn (8/5): Hotel in prime location to admire the harbour views - Lovely hotel in prime position on hill overlooking the harbour- room had balcony to sit out and admire the view. Breakfast room was light and airy with terrace to sit outside - breakfast was buffet style and good options available including English breakfast I paid extra to have breakfast included a few days before arriving and I received confirmation.. but every morning the restaurant staff queried that breakfast was not included in my room rate and despite me complaining to reception, this continued every morning for our 4 day stay.
