Guest Reviews
- Olivia (10/5): - Lovely setting! Fantastic food and staff! We are getting married next year in Clitheroe and will definitely be recommending for guests!
- Fran (10/5): - Lovely room and great breakfast!!! Would definitely stay again
- Michael (8/5): - Highly satisfied
- Jia-en (10/5): - One of the best places I’ve ever stayed in the UK. The room was immaculate, very dog friendly, and staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.
- Adam (10/5): - Only a short stay as we were at a Wedding nearby. Lovely views, friendly staff, great breakfast and the room was spot on. Nice little touch with the l’Occitane bathroom products.
- Mr Steven A (10/5): Exceeded expectations - Really lovely pub in the quiet hamlet of DOWNHAM. Beautiful countryside and a great view from the much bigger than expected room.
- julia (10/5): Step back in time (in a positive way!) - Charming well appointed rooms and delicious food
- Verified traveler (6/5): Some things great, some not so great - Great food and beautiful setting. Staff were a bit cold at times and less than attentive, but nothing that warrants an outright complaint. Room was sweltering in the night (stayed in August), and we had no way of asking for a fan. Might be worth asking for one as you check in.
- Alexander (8/5): Could be better - Upon arrival, the pub look magnificent in the afternoon sunshine but the welcome, after my long trip, was non existent. I was pointed in the direction of my room that was located in different building. The room was nicely appointed but the exterior wall in the bathroom had a serious fault in the plasterwork which demonstrated a lack of care or attention to detail. The damp issue had obviously been around for a long time!
Dinner was ok but with a little finesse it could have been much better. The standard of service was best described as disinterested. Breakfast was very good.
The setting of the Asseton Arms is delightful and I would possibly stay again
- Suzanne (6/5): Lovely staff - Staff were really lovely, couldn’t have been more helpful.
- Susan (10/5): - Lovely place, comfortable room, good service, food was great, excellent breakfast
- Paul (10/5): - A lovely location and very comfortable stay
- Steven (8/5): Overall good - A couple of niggles with housekeeping but issues were sorted. They need to put more tea bags & a wider choice.
Overall it was a good stay.
- Todd (10/5): - Quick and easy check in, lovely rooms
- Jonathan (10/5): - Lovely boutique hotel in a stunning village. Our room and breakfast were both excellent.
- Victoria (10/5): - Everything was perfect. The location is beautiful. The pub is cosy. The food was really great, dinner and breakfast, friendly staff, comfy bed, lovely shower. I highly recommend it.
- Barbara (8/5): - Room 5 paint peeling off the wall and noise from extractor fan. Got moved to room 7 which was nice but black mould on net curtain.
- Andrew (10/5): One of the best - Nestled in the quiet countryside with amazing views. Walking available from your door. The room was spacious and well laid out… very comfortable indeed. One of the nicest hotels we have stayed in.Really good place to stay…. Highly recommended.
- Jonathan (10/5): Fantastic - Beautiful hotel in a gorgeous village. Bedroom was well appointed, generously proportioned and really quiet. Hotel was full of character and rural charm, a lovely place to stay.
- Marjorie (10/5): Quiet & peaceful stay - Wonderful stay, room, restaurant, food excepional. Must be almost 50 years since last here, trip down memory lane, did not fail to bring back memories of my younger days, but will return again soon. Views of the area so fabulous, peaceful countryside.
- Irene (10/5): - Beautiful views from the room over the surrounding countryside. Very good food in the restaurant with gluten free options available or easy to arrange. Clean and spacious room and bath room with good rain shower. Perfect place to stay for walking the surrounding hills.
- Felicity (10/5): - Just a little taste of paradise! It's opposite the church and has the most gorgeous views
- Rachel (10/5): - Great hotel in a beautiful location. The views are beautiful. We had spacious but cosy room 3 on the top floor of a separate little building which was delightful. Fantastic views and a wonderful bath! We had dinner and breakfast and both were very good. The staff are amazing, very attentive and friendly and make you feel at home. We definitely stay here again and for longer next time.
- Amanda (10/5): Wonderful stay - Excellent rooms, amazing views, fabulous food.
- Jonathan (10/5): - A very welcome overnight stop on our way to the Lake District - not too far from the M6 but in a beautiful part of the country. The room was very comfortable and the hotel was charming - a peaceful village location with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. We enjoyed a great evening meal and the breakfast was very good. Definitely would return if heading to that area again.
- Stephen (8/5): Lovely stay - recommended - Lovely hotel/lodgings. Beautiful bathroom!
Nice and warm room.
Cosy fire at the bar which was nice and cosy .
Tastefully decorated.
The food looked gorgeous as it was taken past us going to the restaurant, and we will eat here next time.
***Big shout out to Phoebe, our breakfast waitress. The breakfast chef didn't show up and until the replacement chef came, she was run off her feet supplying us all with toast and tea and coffee etc.
She was fabulous and super friendly ***
Downside -:the bar shut at 10 because they were quiet, which we sort of understood, but would have been nice to come back to the hotel and gafeva few more drinks or a nightcap
Overall I would definitely recommend and we will be back
