Guest Reviews
- Loralyn (8/5): - The location is fantastic. Tram is very close. 2min walk. Very fun concept of staying in a train. Staff lovely. The negatives were dragging suitcases up three very long staircases. Also we were in C31 which was supposed to sleep 2 people. No working ladder to the top berth. Bottom bed would maybe sleep two 8 year old kids. Not two adults. Should not be considered a double room. Had to sleep feet to head so that we could fit. If trying to sleep an adult this should be a single room. Bed wasn’t even a double bed. Also second night we froze. Heat couldn’t be controlled in the room. We’re really glad we tried it but likely would stay somewhere a bit more comfortable next time
- tim (8/5): Really cool place full of train history and kitsch - The hostel is a really cool place; I wish we had stayed longer to explore it more. The breakfast was lovely; the neighborhood interesting but a bit sketchy.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Banheiros limpos
Quartos de cabine apertados e colchão duro, estreito
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Einfach schlecht Kabinen ohne Heizung ohne decken
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff was super helpful and accommodating. The room was clean. We were very happy with our stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Unique experience with helpful attentive staff. Very clean and very well maintained
- Jens (8/5): Train hostel - IT was nice.
- Alina (2/5): - Beware of this dump. Keep out!!! Don't ever sleep in their train cabins. It is the most unsanatary place I have ever seen in a hostel. All night and a half a day the sink was clogged in the women's bathroom. There was no toilet paper from 12 am to 2 pm in the same women's bathroom. The hallways were full of garbage from 6 am to 2 pm until I had had it and booked a new place. I am surprised that this place has not been shut down for not meeting European Union standards. It is a scam for what they charge for complete disgust.
- Alfiya (10/5): Très bon séjour ! - Lieu calme, hôtel original et propre, personnel agréable et serviable. Déco vraiment sympa. Petit dej en supplément est bon. Nous reviendrons.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Best avoided - Extremely rude staff who treat you like you're a criminal before you've even said a word, dark rooms with wafer-thin, uncomfortable bedding, sewer smell coming from the bathroom... The train theme is unfortunately not fun enough to make up for the shortcomings of this hotel. Nice restaurant though, with friendly staff who seem just as confused as the guests by the behaviour of the hotel management team.
- Joris (8/5): - As a family with three kids we experienced a pleasant stay in one of the bigger family rooms. Located next to Schaerbeek railway station it does not only fit in the neighbourhood, but is also a practical location for visiting Brussels with kids. A visit to Train World cannot be missed and public transportation is nearby. The hotel itself has a nifty designed interior with model trains and railway signs representing Belgian train history. The rooms are neat and sturdy, beds are clean, but here and there some maintenance could improve the overall quality of our room. Best of all the friendly and cooperative staff made our experience light-hearted.

- Verified traveler (4/5): - I didn’t like that it didn’t have any heater and they don’t have blanquets for the room I got
- Andrew C (8/5): Cute hostel - Overall this is a good hostel. The decor is really cute and the common areas are really nice. The breakfast is a bit pricey at 8 euro, and during the day you can’t really be in common areas because it looks like they’re doing renovations , but in general it’s a decent place to stay if visiting Brussels
- Anwesh (10/5): - This place is a bit far from city but easily commutable. It was very neat and the staff were friendly. Would recommed this place if you are okay to stay a bit far from city. It has a nice bar just 5 mins walk from the hostel and the area was also secure.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - ..........................Nice hotel................................
- Verified traveler (8/5): Interesting theme for kids and train lovers - My child and I got to stay in an empty dormitory room instead of a twin room. Bunk beds made us feel like sleeping in the overnight train and it was fun. But the bed was very narrow and sealing was too low for adult. At least, children must love it.
A changer rapidement.
- Kyle (4/5): - I wasn't too thrilled with this hostel. The power outlets were very limited in the room and the beds were rather uncomfortable. It is quite outside the city with not much around it in terms of restaurants or snacks. I think you can find better within Brussels.
Ligging hotel zeer goed, openbaar vervoer dichtbij
- Nicholas (10/5): Great experience - Very clean, very well ran hostel, great wifi, in an area very well connected to the tourist sites of Brussels by tram 92, the 59 bus or train from Schaerbeek station.
The tram which stops practically right in front of the Hostel will take you to the main art museums including the Magritte Museum, the music museum and the Royal Palace. Whilst the Bus takes you to the EU area where you can visit parliament and the train can get you quickly to the centre of Brussels.
The rooms of the hostel also makes sure that they are lockers for your belongs in your room and enough plugs to charge your electronics. Very professional relaxed atmosphere so thankfully you can get some sleep unlike other hostels I have experienced.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Bed bugs or fleas! - Got bites all over my body after staying for 3 nights, not worth it as it affected the rest of my vacation and I had to throw away a bunch of clothes!!
- Kaarin (10/5): Value for the money - It was great! The location was good, the area felt safe enough, the staff was very helpful. The room was really value for our money: comfy bed and clean bathroom and shower! Would absolutely stay here again and recommend to our friends as well. One of the nicest value places in our interrail trough Europe. Brekfast was also okey, not fancy but everything you need.
- Marius (10/5): Great train themed hotel/hostel - Had a great room With 6 beds even though we were only 2.
Funny Train theme and location Close to Train station.
Wifi worked great, it was clean and friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good - Near from the station. Just normal hostel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice hotel close to the tram. Has a cool theme plus with all the hotel amenities
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good Value for Train Lovers - We're very glad we picked this Hostel for this trip. It was fun staying in the Train-themed room. As it was early August, the rooms got very hot, so that made it a bit uncomfortable at night. The location is good, being next to Train World (fabulous museum, by the way!), and is an easy Tram ride into the heart of Brussels. I had seen others complain about it being too far out, but having just come from Paris, we found that we spent less time getting to the sights in Brussels, than we did most days getting from our place in Paris near Montmartre to the big sights in Paris, so that wasn't bad.
- Cassie (8/5): - This was a great property to stay at. The only downfall was the distance from city center. However Uber was a very affordable way to get there. The staff was great and the overall stay was very comfortable. Thank you!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I initially booked the train cabin for my family of 6 because the rooms were fully booked. Upon seeing how small they were, I went to the front desk to request a transfer to a family room. The place was fully booked that night, but they were able to get us into one for the following two nights. The staff was very helpful and quick to accommodate our needs.
- Bernard (10/5): - The location of this rail-themed hostel is perfect for overnight connections from Brussels National Airport. The multi-lingual receptionist, gliding seamlessly between European languages, made the welcome more personal, warm and friendly. The location of the hostel has a good selection of eateries and watering holes that were still accommodating in spite of my late arrival. Yes, it did the job of giving me a good lie-in, leaving me refreshed and ready for the next days intercontinental flight. I left in the morning feeling that this brief interlude at the Train Hostel had become a small main part of my wider travel plans. I will be making Brussels my favorite stopover on account of this.
- Laura (8/5): Great hostel away from the hustle and bustle - This is hostel is very close to a tram and train station, but the surrounding businesses aren’t the most tourist-friendly. However, it is only two stops away from the main part of the city, and the hostel itself is overall great.
- Roberto Carlos (8/5): Good staff, Lia at the front desk was great - The place was good. Interesting hotel, the inside looks like an old train. The front staff was very helpful, Lia the front desk lady was very nice. Down side was the bathroom is not attached, so you have to walk across the rooms many times to use it, and there is no AC, and hot here, still a good stay.
- Ed (6/5): Next to Train Station - I walked from Brussels Midi. 1hr 15min or so. Got to see little tid bits I wouldn't have by taking the train. Check-in was prompt. Staff was nice and friendly.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Stayed in the train cabin. Would not recommend. Small, no place to sit, freezing at nighttime, and no bed sheets blanket provided.
- Caroline (10/5): Quirky and bijou original train carriage - Fantastic experience sleeping in an original train carriage. Very snug but very comfortable and rather exciting. A rare adventure enjoyed by the adults as well as the kids. Had never stayed in a hostel before and had been worried about security and the shared bathroom but we needn't have worried at all. It was spotlessly clean throughout, we felt very secure in our carriage and had a very quiet restful night and breakast was lovely. We hope to visit again soon and would definitely recommend it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Do you love trains? - Enjoyed the train theme as well as the vouchers for the nearby train museum. If you like trains, this is your holy land. Also nearby is the Schaerbeek train station which is only 2 stops from city center. The rest of the surrounding area is rather bland. A few cafes, and a police station is about all there is. Hotel itself was everything we expected for the price. As long as the value is the same, we’d stay again.
- Timothy (6/5): Good Hostel but a long way from the main sights - Good clean hostel with friendly staff however it is a 50minute walk from the centre or a short train ride away and there is not much around the hostel. The larger dorms contained 3 tiered bunk beds which meant they were not very comfortable due to lack of space between bunks. They did have good large lockers in the rooms however and the only way to enter the dorms was through an electronic key.
There is a kitchen and a nice common area which includes a table football.
Overall a nice hostel which is in a good location if you want to visit the train museum but a poor location if you want to visit anything else.
- Jo (10/5): Great hotel, highly recommend, exceptional value - Very comfortable, perfect fora work trip for a conference at the Expo center
- Tilen (10/5): Nice hostel. Good location. - A very nice hostel with a train theme. Very good location. Easy to get to from the city airport. Easy acces to the city center as train and tram stations are near by. Laeken park is good 20min walk away. Staff was very friendly. The only bad thing was the loud door "banging" in the morning. Overall a very good value fir the price.
- Heidi (8/5): - The staff was super friendly and helpful with dinner options and transportation into the city. The train car was definitely unique and the kids enjoyed it!
- Haemin (10/5): Comfy!!! - Everyone there was really helpful!! The interior is clean and it has warm atmosphere :)) also there's a police station right in front of the hostel and the hostel is 3mins away from the train station!
- Nicole (8/5): Go out of your Way... for an amazing stay... - This place is a little Gem if you can cope with a 20 metro ride out of town... there's no where to get food locally but you can easily find supermarkets to bring food back or metro into town...
the hostel itself is extremely clean and comfortable no well used beds here ! Not many hotels are this clean... obviously you can't decide who else is staying and 2am wake up calls from yoofs is to be expected (hostel staff need to be a little bit more proactive on this and settle them down without being asked...) having said that it's family friendly and would deffo stay here again with kids and a recommendation to anyone would come back no issues...
- Ryan J. (6/5): It was adequate. - The hostel was as unimpressive as the city bur located well for transit.
- James (10/5): Fun different stay, great location, great price - This was a really fun stay for our little family--small quarters, but kids had a blast and we loved the area. Safe and great staff!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Not your ordinary hostel - We were very satisfied with our stay at the train hostel. It was easy to get to and from but enough out of the way that it was out of the hustle and bustle. It felt safe leaving the building and walking to the train/bus and bike stations nearby. We didn't use the kitchen facility so I can't comment on that other than they didn't have a fridge for my leftovers so the staff said they would put my name and room number on it and put it somewhere but when I went and asked for it, they couldn't find it, so I had to buy more food.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Stayed in the train cabin with 6 bench beds. Balcony was on other side of window and people would sit and smoke outside. Noise and conversations in other rooms was easily heard. Beds were not comfortable. Other rooms might be better. Breakfast is an extra fee and consists of meat and breads, has a small kitchen with stove, fridge and microwaves. Easy to make your own food and great place to meet and hang out with new people. Separate bathrooms and shower area. Heard the shared rooms have a bathroom/shower combo in the room.
- sadonna (10/5): train hostel - Very interesting place located next to a train station and train museum. The rooms are themed to trains there is a court yard where you can smoke or drink there is a game room and the hostel serves breakfast for 8 euro per person. The rates for the room were good and its in a safe neighborhood across the street from the police station.
- liz (6/5): Didn't go - Didn't care to go to this hotel I'm passed the age to stay in a room with 8 or 9 different people that I don't know so I didn't go
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice Hostel - There is one small store for water/snacks next to the train station. Rooms are very nicely decorated and comfortable. difficult to really sit up in bed because it is a three-story bunk bed and the ceiling is not tall enough.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice hostel in a quiet area of the city - The train hostel is a wonderful hostel to stay in. Very modern looking and clean. The staff was very friendly and helped us with multiple questions we had about getting around and where we could find some food. The breakfast in the morning was an extra cost but there was quite a little selection and it was very filling. We only stayed the one night but I would definitely stay again if I come back.
- Clare (10/5): Great for a weekend away - Stayed here during a solo weekend away. Cool hostel located next to Train Museum, great price with easy access to central Brussels and the coach station by tram.
- Olivia (10/5): Great hostel, would stay again. - This hostel was great! We loved the fun train theme and found our room to be very spacious and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. Other guests were noisy at times but we didn't mind as you expect that from a hostel. The simple breakfast filled us up.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great hostel, but kind of far from city center - Great hostel and super recommendable for yhose who want to see the city during the day and sleep well at night.. beds are alright, the room and bathroom are super clean and great. The only problem is that the hostel is kind of far from the center, not possible to go walking, and yhe public transportation closes at 12.. the breakfast is 8 euros and they charge the towels.
- Anna (10/5): - Easy to get to the centre - brilliant Pizza place around the corner - really friendly staff. :)
- Zoe (8/5): Good - Comfy bed, good bathroom. Good room size. Enjoyed my stay.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Very happy
- Courtney (10/5): - Cool and funky place. Stayed in the train cabins, was like a proper over night train cabin. Very cool for train enthusiast, even has a station themed waiting room common area for you to relax in. Shared kitchen and bathrooms were all super clean. Close to tram line that is direct to down town in 15-20 minutes. Would stay again.
- Haxhi (4/5): - Well awful breakfast not fresh n awful boiling eggs. Sleep not comfortable bec of our hurt back low n my back is painful.
- corinne (8/5): Nice and very helpful staff - Our room too hot so they moved us to another cabin great staff so very helpful just wonderful
- Hayley (8/5): - Lovely, comfy beds, very neat and orderly rooms, very tidy. Bathroom facilities great for overnight stayers who have to go to the airport the next day, lovely, warm rooms, quiet and shared a dorm with conscientious travellers like myself who think of others and don't make too much noise when sleeping. Close to the airport, considerate staff who speak english, french. Taxi facilities , taxis are arranged by staff or you to take you to the airport, I did not require one from the hotel/dorm as I booked my own taxi off internet. 1 stay was great. There is a restaurant/gaming area for social entertainment. There is an outside area for enjoying sunshine etc. Lovely experience !!
- VAMSEE (10/5): Excellent place for all kinds of travelers - The place was easy to find. The moment I entere the hostel..it was funky with train theme and was surprised to see that my bed was actually a train berth.Very clean place.Library was awesome.I would definitely go back.
