• Zachary (10/5): good - Great little place to stay at. Loved the option of pool, hot tub, or beach. The cabin is pretty outdated and small. No AC and the water had a rusty smell. That was our only complaint. Great area and lots to do in Nisswa. Really enjoyed our time. The staff was super friendly too
• Jablam (8/5): - Perfect family getaway stay. Lots of room, comfortable furniture, lovely outdoor deck, patio and yard. The beach is small but has nice sand and the water is clear. We are likely to make this a summer tradition.
• Sarah (6/5): - The property location is perfect, beautiful lake with great fishing and a nice beach with sandy swimming area. The cabins that we stayed at were in need of updating. The maintenance was not well done, it wasn't very clean, the water is super hard and brown, they had kayaks, a paddle board and an old canoe but not enough oars/paddles. The cabin that my brother stayed at had a broken window and it was repaired it with a Cheez-it box.

• Seamus (8/5): Great quiet resort - Overall a great place to stay for a quiet and fun family vacation. Cleanliness was only scored lower for the beach, everything else was good. But in 4 mornings we were there the beach was only cleaned up once. Some guests left empty beverage containers and they remained out until other guests cleaned them up. Overall though it was just the kind of vacation we were looking for. We stayed in cabin 4 and it was fairly modern, clean, and everything worked great. My family would have no issues with returning and we would recommend it to our friends and family.
• Familyof7 (10/5): - This place was fantastic! My kids cried when it was time to leave. We will definitely be back! The cabin was clean, there are many activities to do, and we felt very safe even during COVID-19. Things to know: we wish we brought paper towels, napkins, and hand soap (the only soap is a mini bar to share between the kitchen sink, bathroom sink, and shower). We did bring our own towels, which was good because there’s no way to get more. Also, there is no wifi and cell service is very spotty. The cabins are rustic, but we loved them! We were in cabin 2 and are a family of 6 plus a baby. It was tight. There’s a grill and fire pit right at the cabin, and the view is awesome! For those complaining about the “stained toilet/rusty water/iron stains,” please remember that you are literally on an iron range. This is to be expected! We loved this place!

• Verified traveler (2/5): Not fan - The cabin was very old school. There was a very large gap under the front door that rain came in. There were two space heaters for heat. The bathroom was gross and the lighting awful.

• Kara (4/5): - The drive in to the property, the main office/pool building and the exterior of the buildings were lovely and inviting. Unfortunately we stayed in Cabin 8, which was past "rustic" and to the point of just plain shabby. Duct tape over holes in the ceiling, poorly installed bathroom faucet, greasy stained dishes in the cabinet, broken refrigerator shelves, a dirty mattress pad left in a closet and a sofa that "we just didn't want to sit on" were waiting for us inside. Everything just felt grimy. We were very disappointed and felt that we paid a lot of money for accommodations that weren't up to par. I wonder if the villas were in better condition than the cabins? The views were great and from the outside, the cabins were sure cute and quaint. But . . . we won't be back.
• Kevin (6/5): Short stay, just Ok - This is a very nice property! However, there is absolutely nobody (meaning staff) around there in the off season from what I can tell. The units are very new but it appears they are not keeping up with maintenance on them. We had 1 toilet paper holder and a towel bar that were falling off the wall. The unit was very clean otherwise.
• Verified traveler (8/5): - Property was beautiful, and villa was amazing. Perfect for our family. Beach was soft sand and nice. The lake was small and quiet compared to do resorts we’ve stay at in past up in this area. Grounds were very well kept, easy to move about. Indoor pool area was well kept as well, and enjoyed swimming in there when not at beach. The staff were very accommodating prior to or arriving, and quick to respond to emails leading up to our arrival. Check in and out was a breeze. Only room for improvements would be leaning out fire pits before guests arrive, and not selling wet/damp firewood. Overall a great family resort to come and spend your vacation at. Will maybe see The Wilderness Villas Resort again in the future!

Our cabin and deck were spacious with a beautiful view of the lake. It was great to have access to canoe, kayaks, paddleboards, paddleboat and floaties on the beach.

• Erin (6/5): - The setting is pretty and quiet, and Cabin #1 was fairly comfortable in size. But without a handrail to ascend the steps to the unit, my elderly parents could not go up the steps to the door (ended up walking through the grass to the lakeside door, which did have railing). Main problem is that the cabin windows are ill-fitting, so dead gnats were everywhere, especially in the bathroom. The bathroom itself was not good- especially the shower and stained toilet. Couch and armchair were uncomfortable. I wouldn't mind all this (after all, cabins are cabins) except for the price I expected a cleaner and more comfortable stay. The window A/C was noisy and old and only had one speed. My favorite part was sitting outside the cabin, looking at the lake. And it did only take 10 minutes to get to Nisswa for the absolutely wonderful Scandinavian music festival.

• Candace (8/5): Great location on Middle Cullen Lake - Cute older cabin on Middle Cullen Lake. New deck on lakeside. Fire pit, picnic table, grill. This property has new Villas and older cabins. We chose a cabin with 3 bedrooms that had double beds. Our cabin was older with a small older bathroom that could use updating. Everything was clean and it was great to be on the lake. Great pool, game room, fitness area and sauna. Use of peddle/paddle boat and other lake toys.

• Alexis (10/5): Amazing! - Went up on a spontaneous trip with my Fiance to get away from the city for the weekend. Loved every minute of our stay. Check in was super easy and the two ladies at check in were very nice. Ended up in cabin 7 with an AMAZING lake view. Had a bundle of wood waiting for us, with additional bundles for $4 a bundle. Got 2 more so we could have a nice long fire. Cabin was cozy. 2 beds and 2 baths and a futon in the living area. Had TV with direct TV, but didnt watch it. Large fridge, toaster, toaster oven, electric stove top, coffee maker, and microwave all with cups, utensils, plates, ect. Just bring the food! Resort had paddle boats, kayaks and canoes available to use along with plenty of dock space and a boat launch to bring your own boat. We just ended up fishing from the dock, got some good size bass and northern. Super close to small town shops and close to target/fleet farm for any basic needs. All in all, we had an amazing time and are already planning our next trip up!

My only quibble would be that the shower head needed to be replaced, since it had scale build up to the point that the water flow wasn't very good. All in all, it was a terrific place to stay for the weekend.

• Michelle (8/5): Lovely lake and view - Great location and number of things to do. Cabin is a bit tight for 4 but worked okay. Shower is only comfortable for people 5 foot tall or under. I am 5’7” and had to squat to rinse my hair. The three men in my family, all over 6’ tall had a VERY hard time.
