• Roselyn (2/5): - The property manager never spoke to me physically in regards to my room, not being available when I reached out to the third-party to get in contact with the hotel manager, they still was not able to get in touch with the hotel manager in regards to my day

Vores hotel værelser manglede begge håndklæder, værelserne var ikke klar da vi kom efter check-in tid, og begge toiletter virkede om and off, og lækkede vand. Sengene var dejlige store, og behagelige at sove i.
• Ed (6/5): - To much deferred maintenance. Clean but needs some maintenance and upgrades. Would not give us a second key to room. Key needs to be in room to keep AC on. No power outlets in bathroom or near bed.

• Einar Guillermo (2/5): - We had a booking at this hotel for our tour to Komodo Island, sadly our tour and our flights were cancelled due to a volcano eruption in Flores and we couldn’t make it, we tried talking to the hotel and they were extremely closed to helping or refunding our money even though it was definitely not our choice, so I am a bit biased as to my review and their terrible policies and customer service.

• Teresa (10/5): - The view outstanding, pools beautiful, ocean and snorkeling fantastic. Bed was comfortable, limited food at restaurant. Have a fridge in the room, stock up on drinks in your room.
• MERCEDES (6/5): - We stayed here for two nights. The hotel is located further from the city center, so transportation costs can add up if you're on a budget and don’t have a car. The lobby is open air without A/C, which might matter to some. We had an issue with our room's card reader, and after maintenance couldn’t fix it, we were moved to another room. The room was standard, but the A/C wasn’t on upon arrival, which could be uncomfortable during hotter months. While the view was great—overlooking the water with beautiful sunsets—there were some issues. The baseboards were extremely dirty and noticeable. The shower had no barrier, so water leaked into the toilet area. The restaurant was nice, the property was large, and the breakfast buffet was decent. They also provided a to-go breakfast box for our Komodo Island tour, which was a nice touch. For $56, it wasn't bad, but if you're on a budget, there are probably better options closer to the city center.

The rooms are old, bad smelling of sewage in the toilet, they “ran out” of beach towels at 17:00, they “ran out” of room keys so they couldn’t make a spare one, the bar does not make cocktails, breakfast was bad (stale food at 7:00 when it opens). Avoid, if possible. On the positive side, location. Sunset on the bay is always magical.
• Lauren Waite (6/5): - We loved the location being close to the airport and to the town. Our room was right on the beach which was beautiful. The sunsets were amazing here. However, we were disappointed with the resort restaurant, the food options were very limited and there were no cocktails, only beer and one type of cooler. There were very nice restaurants we could walk along the beach to or taxi to which we did instead.

Nobody answered the phone at reception For repairs for room service. Only one couple appeared to get service from the restaurant on the beach. Peach was ok , but there was quite a litter.

They just give you 1 key and once you go out power is out, even accidental, you have to get somebody to open the door. The staff are courteous and helpful.

• Ashley (2/5): - Read this til the end. When we arrived the AC was off, which is normal. We arrived at 6pm and turned AC on. It never cooled off. We sweat all night long. The next day when we came back after our all day tour, they had turned our AC off. We asked for a new room after they sent engineering to come check the AC. The next room was better. The last night we moved to a villa that was very cooled off and nice. We only got to stay in a cold room for one night out of three. They also argued with me about giving me a second key card to our room. Because we weren’t given a second key. The only key we had had to stay in a slot for electric to the room. When you pulled it out, the AC turned off. I said I needed a key so we could go to the restaurant and return to our room. He told me I could go to the restaurant and my husband could let me back in. I said no, we wanted to go eat dinner together. Who would let us back in? They followed me to my room and said “where is your husband” and I said he was in the room, the front desk man barged into our room and walked to the bed to argue with my husband about me wanting a second room key. What if he hadn’t been decently clothed? This hotel was a horrible experience.

• Veronica (10/5): - Nice hotel by a very nice and quiet beach good for swimming. Two pools bungalow style rooms. A bit difficult to get transportation to and from downtown in the evening. The bathroom smelled bad.

• Katerina (8/5): - We stayed 2 nights because we wanted to have a relaxing break from our otherwise active holidays. It's been great to be able to roll to the beach and pool straight from our room. The room was quite clean, didn't feel very cosy though. We would also appreciate some more drinking water included in our stay. We only got a small half liter bottle per person a day. The staff was friendly, they even chopped a fresh coconut for us right off the tree. For an extra fee we rented a small kayak to go snorkel further from the shore which was nice. If you want to go to town this location is not convenient, you would have to rent a bike or get a cab which is expensive. But if you want to wind down and stay put with a book by the pool this is a suitable place for that.

• nicolas (2/5): Cauchemar sur une plage paradisiaque. deception - Cet hôtel est situé sur une plage magnifique même si non-entretenu (déchets dessus et dans la mer). malheureusement, les chambres ont des puces de lits (confirmé par le management après plainte), le personnel ne parle pas anglais, la nourriture est mauvaise et il faut attendre une heure après commande, la plage n'est pas nettoyée, le wifi ne marche que vers le restaurant, pas dans les chambres, ils construisent un nouvel immeuble, les travaux sont donc bruyant, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc,... Grosse déception, accentuée par le magnifique hôtel voisin (plantara) ou nous avons fini par aller manger tous les soirs... A éviter, ce qui est dommage car avec un peu d'effort le lieu serait magnifique.

• Martin (8/5): Nice snorkeling, lousy service, good beach - Sylvia resort is situated in a nice location. You can go for a nice hike to the hills behind the hotel or swim over the the opposite small island which has beautiful snorkeling area. Beach side is relaxing and well maintained. Swimming pool water was not cleanest, a bit greasy and full of chlorine. Breakfasts are simple and they are far from being gourmet experience. Count with the fact that it is about getting some morning calories. What I would like to highlight is the overall service attitude which can improve. You go for breakfast and you see like 15 tables. 6 of them are used by people. 7 of them have trash and leftovers from other people´s breakfast and 2, exposed to the direct sun are free. You look around and you see staff just hanging around, doing nothing and when you tell one of those guys to clean a table, your request goes from first to another one, to another one and finally 5th guy takes greasy cloth and clean the table. Selection of fruit is basic but you will not eat it because it is full of flies, hundreds of flies. They also say they can rent a motorbike for you. I never succeeded as there was always some excuse. Luckily, staff is helpful and for reasonable amount of money they will rent you their motorbike. Room is clean which is most important to me. If I would ever go to Labuan Bajo again, Sylvia would be my choice probably. And I will hoping to see improvement in services. Knowing Indonesia standard, for this price, you get what you paid for.
• Thijs (2/5): It really is as bad as most reviews say! - I was too optimistic when I booked this hotel, even though I had read the reviews. I thought I was not that easily dissatisfied with a hotel. Well, I was wrong. The only people who will be happy at this hotel are the ones that - do not eat here (most things are out of stock), - know already what they want to visit on Flores (no information available on activities), - don’t mind a hot room (airco’s are too small to cool the room), - enjoy a beach full of plastic and other trash. Oh and don’t forget to bring your own soap, because they don’t replenish these, not even after you ask them to.
• パラパラ (4/5): ホテルサービスは期待するべきではない - ホテルへ直接メールで空港送迎を頼んだが、一向に返事なし。予約サイトに連絡。予約サイトからホテルへ確認してくれて、時間も指定されたので安心して空港に着いたが、一向に迎えに来ない。呼び込みタクシーの強烈な誘いに閉口しながら、バリ島在住の友人に連絡して、ホテルに電話をしてもらいましたが、迎えに行ったとのこと。15分程度だから、待っていたら1時間たっても来ない。迎えに来ないよと、最初から言っていた呼び込みタクシーでホテルへ行った。フロントで文句をいうが、謝る気配さえない。サービスは最低です。スタッフは英語通じない。ビーチフロントでコストパフォーマンスは良いが、最初のつまづきで、気分は最悪でした。言葉があまり通じないせいか、呼び込みタクシーの強引な誘いにおれ、コモドドラゴンツアーを3倍の値段で買ってしまいました。最低最悪のフローレス島になりました。スムースに最初の送迎さえあれば、こんな事にはならなかったはず。二度と行きません。フローレス、コモド島、ガイド、皆ボッタクリ。

• Vicki (4/5): Sad, Don’t - Sad. Place has such potential. Staff don’t appear to care. Management/ownership must be absentee. Restaurant help take forever; food once ordered takes forever! Desert sometimes comes before meal. It’s crazy and sadly, it was not busy. Restaurant out of more menu items than they had. Lawns and Gardens unkempt. Trash between buildings. Not near enough lounges. Some villas are a long distance from the main areas and dining. Staff lie around on guest lounges when there is so much to do. First room a/c didn’t work. We were moved. Best thing is bed and pillows were very comfy. Huge expanse of beachfront property but not kept clean. Overall, just really couldn’t believe what the owners were letting deteriorate.
• Erin (6/5): Ok for the price but don't expect much - After reading the reviews and seeing the pictures it looked like it was a pretty nice place and was recommended as a nice mid-range hotel. The lobby was nice and the pool was ok but there were no pool chairs at all. The front desk was a bit of a cluster every time we talked to them and check in was not smooth. The rooms are run down in a way I would not have imagined based on what I read for reviews. They are dingy - need to be painted as the walls were gross, the bathrooms were gross, but the bed was comfortable. It looks like a place that has been neglected for a while and in need of renovation. The one nice thing they did is they gave us 2 bottles of water and fresh towels each day.

Makes no sense to me!

It is in the most amazing setting, right on it's own private beach in a little bay just a short drive from the town of Labuan Bajo where we stayed to go on a trip to Komodo. They picked us up from the airport in a free shuttle so just let them know and they will come to get you and this free shuttle also operated in and out of Labuan Bajo regularly by a lovely guy called Nicholas, he was very reliable for collecting us! The rooms are not luxurious but are perfectly fine for the price and the food there was pretty good too, a great selection at the buffet breakfast. The pool and beach area is the main selling point but overall a nice stay at an average price and away from Labuan Bajo which we found a little rough so this place is a great stopping point! Would recommend for anyone wanting to do a trip to the islands!

• Derek (8/5): idyllic tropical island beach - The accommodation is good - bungalows in the garden or at the beach and a long secluded beach practically totally deserted. A couple of kayaks available free on the beach for sea canoeing. Water clean, warm, beautiful. Location of the hotel is about 10 mins drive from the town with sections of the road unpacked but much nicer than staying in town. Staff variable. Some more helpful in organizing things than others though the manager responsive. Breakfast ok. Not a place for wining and dining as the main building is a little institutional in feel. Scheduled shuttle buses into town but taxis easy and cheap. Wonderful relaxing few days there.

Trips and tours should be booked in advance as last minute bookings can be difficult. Regular shuttle rides to and from town make the harbor and town centre accessible. Snorkeling off the beach is good but the hotel does not have snorkeling equipment. The canoes available are in poor condition.
• Nicky (8/5): Great location for getting away and relaxing - Great stay, far away from praying speaker-towers, nice room, no mould in the room. The curtain in the room was broken, but we could still close it 80%. The staff is very friendly, but do not communicate. The front desk accepted our order for a breakfast box for 06:30. 06:35 the following day we went to pick up our box. The staff in the kitchen was very surprised and never heard about this. This happened two days in a row, exactly the same way. We rented a motorbike for 75k/day in town next to The Blue Marlin dive shop and it gave us great mobility. Divine Diving (very professional) gave us great diving experiences with Manta rays, sharks and eagle rays for 1,5m/day with 3 dives each day.

• Paul (6/5): Far from town, but beautiful beach... - We were surprised at how far out of town the hotel was, and also at the cost of their shuttle service into town (60,000 IDR per room, one way). The free airport shuttle was a plus though! The rooms were clean, big, and nice, even though we were given 2 twin beds instead of the queen we had requested. The pool was pretty dirty, didn't even bother to go in the "infinity section" because it looked so murky. But the private beach was beautiful, and free kayak rental is awesome! Breakfast was alright (can't complain about free). The WiFi in the rooms was basically nonexistent. You had to sit on the patio to even get a bit of a connection, and it got worse and worse the farther away from the lobby you got, so I imagine the beach front bungalows had no connection at all. Overall, a nice place to stay if you are looking for peace and quiet. But if we go to Labuan Bajo again, we would stay much closer to town for cheaper!
• Rosalie (2/5): Not the best - Sure, this "resort" has its own beach and a pool. But did you know that it's 15-20 minutes out of town? Oh, and if you want a ride to town for some civilization (or to book a tour or eat decent food) that's going to set you back 60,000 rupiah each way. May I suggest having a free shuttle if you're going to be so far out of town? Also, get wifi for the rooms, it's ridiculous that I have to sit outside to check my email. I'd rather avoid the bug bites, thanks. I almost missed my scuba diving trip because "concierge" forgot that I asked for a 7am ride to town the night before. Extremely unhelpful front desk. Not the least bit accommodating. Stay somewhere else.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Good Hotel, bad staff - The Hotel is Very good. Room clean, comfortable. Special the position in front of the sea. Bad side: the staff. Very not professional.
• Rachel (6/5): Great if you don't intend to leave the hotel - It was far off from town (20 mins) and pretty much out of the way. The road to Sylvia from the airport was treacherous to say the least. There are no proper roads so the ride was extremely bumpy. You travel on gravel just by the edge of the mountains. So as you admire the amazing breathtaking view, you will also fear for your life at the same time. Apart from the lack of hot water, the hotel service was not too bad. Since it's located away from town, Sylvia provides free transport upon check in and check out. If you're staying for more days, you will need to pay for transport at 60,000 IDR per way downtown. Sylvia opens up right to the beach so they offer free kayaks. There's also free access to the gym, swimming pool and billiard table. Room service is till 2300 so that's not too bad either. Overall, it's a great getaway if you don't intend to move around in Labuan Bajo and just want to laze in the hotel. But if you're up for exploring the town and volcano, it's really a tad bit too out of the way.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Flamboyant hotel with a lack of 4 star qualities - The hotel is out of town and the road to the hotel is worse than a dirt track. Local taxis wouldn't take us to the hotel and the hotel charge to be taken to town. You can take trips to nearby islands but they charge you four times the price! There are only 2 sun loungers by the pool and as I get bitten by sand flies and very fair skinned it was hard work asking staff to bring them to the pool side. Sunset was amazing on the beach although it's very rocky so no swimming. Great place if you're on your honeymoon and plan on doing nothing.
