• Verified traveler (8/5): - Fabulous location. Very clean and cozy. I did not read carefully about shared bathroom. My oops. Super instructions. Woylr happily stay here again.
• Verified traveler (4/5): - Our room was in a gable end. The beds were made up with the heads of the two twin beds under the low end of the ceiling. We had to change the bedding around to avoid banging our heads on the ceiling. Even then, we occasionally hit our heads on the sloped ceiling. The room was tiny.

It is clean, warm ( central heating and some under floor heating),comfortable and central to shops, restaurants and a pick up stop for the tours and airports.It is also cheap to stay there. There is a fully functional kitchen where you can cook with a supermarket and a delightful bakery nearby. WiFi is good. Will be going again next year.

• Verified traveler (6/5): - Never saw the owners, a cleaner arrived at 10:30am and started cleaning but didn’t say anything to us, I felt pressured to hurry up and leave with her presence. Also, the room was very cold. The booking information said there was a hot tub but we couldn’t find it. On the plus, Perfect location, affordable, and liked the coffee machine!
• Peter (10/5): - The location is ideal-next to the church and a nice 15 minute walk to the Harpa center, and right in the middle of the tourist area. Yet the location is quiet--I got complete nights sleep every night. The house was quiet--I sort of missed talking with people. Some will like that!
• Patrice (10/5): Our House guesthouse felt like our home - We never met anyone from the guesthouse. We followed the email instructions and found our name on the chalkboard inside, and our keys in the door of our room. Room was neat and clean, WC and shower clean. Location is excellent, close to most tourist attractions, restaurants, and shops.

• Elizabeth (10/5): Great area! - Great stay! I was worried about shared bathrooms but had no trouble at all. The area is PERFECT! All of Reykjavík in walking distance, a 24hr convenience store across the street, just the best spot. Loved it. Would return.

We only stayed one night so didn’t really make use of all the facilities, but everything seemed to be in good order. Great location close to shops/restaurants downtown and Hallgrimskirkja, but not too close to be noisy at night! You can hear church bells from the house, but it didn’t bother us.

• Jo (10/5): Lovely homely guesthouse - We stayed here for 3 nights. It was a 2 minute walk from the church which is where the bus stop is for any excursions and transfers. The guesthouse is situated at the top of the town so you are surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants. Lovely little place, very clean with plenty of facilities. Home away from home. We will Definately be staying here again when we return as we didn't get to see the northern lights this time round because of the snow storms.

• shan shan (10/5): Very good location - Big clean house with 6 rooms and 2 bathrooms. No need to wait when I need to use the bathroom. Free cappuccino machine to use. Very good location! 3 mins walk to the big church and bus stop. Very nice host!

• Verified traveler (8/5): Decent - The people were very nice, the bathrooms are not en suite, which was fine, but they had been well used. It was very centrally located, close to bus stop #8. Overall a decent place to stay, and they let you store your bags there if you have a later flight.

• Monica (8/5): Not your usual hotel experience - Our House was perfectly lovely and in a great location. We had a 16-hour layover in Reykjavik, so we arrived at the guest house in mid-afternoon and left in the middle of the night to get back to the airport for our next flight. It was a little weird in that we never saw anyone who worked at the place. We had a password to get in and a chalk board showing which room was ours. Still, it all worked out smoothly, so I can't complain..

• Verified traveler (8/5): Brief stay - The plusses balance out the minuses. There were comfortable beds, friendly fellow travellers and a clean enviroment. It is very nice to have space in the refrigerator, a well outfitted kitchen and a grocery nearby. They also loan each room a local cell phone to use free of charge which is very helpful for reservations, etc. The minuses relate to the nature of it being a house rather than a hotel. Despite sensible rules to use the kitchen for tea/coffee only after 10 PM, the first night there was a group frying a lot of onions at 10:30 PM. The second night a neighbor practiced their trumpet until about 11 PM.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Comfortable home with a great location - We recently stayed at our house and found it comfortable, good sized kitchen and shared bathroom. The room was small but adequate. We were able to return to the house after checkout to rest and wait for airport shuttle pickup

Only drawback is having to share bathroom with others, but overall a lovely experience and hosts were very friendly without being intrusive. Internet access was excellent, bedrooms were small but comfy.

• Verified traveler (4/5): Room too small and owner nonexistant - The guesthouse is centrally located, which is nice, but our room was the smallest one and there was no room to put our suitcases or any of our stuff. I couldn't sit up in the bed because the window frame dug into my back and there weren't enough pillows to cushion it. We never saw the owner; instead the only person we ever saw at the desk was the English boyfriend of the owner's daughter and that was only once. The room was clean and the beds were okay, but I would not go there again.
• Rebecca (8/5): Good Value for the Money - Our House is a guesthouse with no 24 hours reception so understandingly I cannot comment regarding hotel service. However, the housekeeper does comes everyday to wash used towels, and clean the house. The house is near to everything, albeit the rooms were very small, which is quite normal in Europe and would be very small specially for Americans who are used to big houses. However, you will not be staying a lot in your room since when you are in Iceland you are meant to see the nature and the Iceland beauty. So all in all the stay in Our House, serves its purpose to us.

• Marina (10/5): Great place! - Enjoyed the stay a lot. Though we arrived at 5am, we had very good directions from the hotel. When we were leaving on the evening of the last day of our stay (we returned from a day trip after the regular check out time) the owner made us a cup of coffee and talked about our impressions. We had to leave for another hotel because that's the way the booking was made. Wish we stayed all the time there!
• Keith (8/5): A nice place to stay in the centre of Reykjavik - The host and hostess, Johannes and his wife were very friendly and hospitable, they say "It's our house and we want it to be your home" and that is just what it is. The hosts don't live there so its up to you to make it your home while you are in Reykjavik. It is ideally located but you might need a SatNav to find it. The only draw backs are that there is only one shower so there is a potential queue but it is easily manageable, and car parking is normally on the street although there is some free "on street" parking close by. The host will direct you to it. BTW, like everywhere in Iceland, there is plenty of natural hot water so queuing for the shower doesn't make it a cold shower. Don't let the cost of breakfast put you off this place, there is a shop within metres and there is really no need to pay for breakfast when you can do it yourself for less. The dining/cooking facilities are excellent although you may want to sample the restaurants in Reykjavik for your main meals. All in all we had a very nice stay and it was as close to home as you might get when you are in another country.
• janet (8/5): Reykjavik Guesthouse. - Ours was a small room but then the price was right. Larger rooms on site available. This is a guesthouse, not a hotel. 7 Bedrooms total that I could see. Shared bathrooms but never a problem. Hosts are friendly and helpful They have thoughtfully included amenities like shampoo, creams and coffee.They are off site but stop in daily so not intrusive at all and you have the run of the place. Would love to see additional comfortable seating in front lobby.
• Lisa (10/5): Great Budget Option - The location is perfect. 2-3 minutes walk and you're surrounded by shops, restaurants etc. The guesthouse was very clean and warm. We were out and about so much we never met the owners. The owner left us a mobile phone with emergency numbers programmed in. The free wifi worked well. There is a fully equipped kitchen if you want to make a meal. In a city where hotel prices are quite high, this was great value for money and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Cozy house in great location - Wonderful stay in cozy house with friendly and helpful hosts. The location is ideal: close to everything downtown but in a quiet street. The place is spotlessly clean and well-taken care of, with great attention to detail. Whether the house itself is quiet at night largely depends on the other guests, as there's no one to enforce quiet times--one night during my stay some Chinese guests arrived around 1am and spent an hour yelling at each other across the hallways before finally settling down; that's probably unusual, as most guests are courteous. Overall though very pleased with the stay.

The owner was very welcoming and told us about a great spot to see the Northern lights from which was an amazing experience for us!
• William (8/5): Great for experienced travellers.... - This is an excellent hostel in a fabulous location, quiet but close to the town centre and all the tourist attractions. The owners were very helpful and the vibe friendly. Experienced travellers will love it. Nervous travellers should try it. Tourists however may find the shared facilities and the noise of other residents may not be their cup of tea.
