Guest Reviews
- Virginia (10/5): Cubrio la necesidad que buscaba - Por motivos de horario no tuve la oportuidad de desayunar en el lugar. Todo muy bien. Todo bien
- Matthew (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and helpful. The place is very clean and well decorated. The location is excellent -- about an 8 minute walk to the main square and subway lines. Nothing.
- Oscar (1/5): - Nothing
- Jhonatan (10/5): -
- Giorgia (8/5): -
- Robert (8/5): -
- Itichai (8/5): - The host is supportive and quick responsed.
Location is walkable to metro station
- Marcel (9/5): Superb -
- Eduardo (10/5): - A pesar de estar en el centro de la ciudad, y que la habitación da a la calle, es tranquilo para dormir en la noche.
Staff bien dispuesto y atento.
Ofrecen servicio de traslado al aeropuerto.
- Stephen (9/5): Nice hostal, comfortable bed, nice price. - The bed was extra wide and the mattress very comfortable.
The rooftop is a wonderful place to hangout plus the view is nice. The room had few ventilation options. Both windows were locked and could not be opened. Only one window, facing the indoor patio could be opened to allow fresh air.
- Andrea (7/5): Good -
- Luke (9/5): Superb - Great location Shared shower is an odd shape.
- Visen (9/5): Superb -
- Sean (9/5): Superb -
- Ryan (10/5): Five-star staff at a comfortable hostel - The staff is exceptional at The Roof Backpackers. They are helpful as well as knowledgeable about the nearby areas of interest in addition to the tour options that one may take (interested travellers should book one with them to skip all the hassle).
The room itself is spacious for couples, and daily housekeeping is available. We also like that the hostel strives to be eco-friendly and uses solar panels and a water refill station. We will undoubtedly return here for our next trip to Guadalajara.
- Derek (10/5): Exceptional - Great location. Very helpful and clean. Front private room was vey loud with street noise. Still a great value.
- Rachel (10/5): The location, room, hot water, available water for drinking, and friendly and helpful hosts make this a great deal and p - The location was ideal for exploring the city on foot and nearby neighborhood restaurants.
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Kwanwoo (8/5): Very good - Everything was in fact good! location is slightly bad. But more problem is the hostel is sooo quiet and boring. So In fact this can be a merit for another travellers who wants to take a break.
- Kayla (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel103 (8/5): Great place! Hot water is tied to the sun. - Great staff, excellent common areas. The beds are comfortable. Very well stocked and large kitchen. Overall a really good place to stay. The hot water comes from solar panels. There is no hot water without the sun. If you mind cold showers, keep that in mind. The location is central, but not super central. It's about a 10 minute walk to the true center.
- Thomas (10/5): - It's a very good hostel
- Camran (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lily (10/5): we came into the city with no idea of what to do and the staff gave us so many insider tips that we had to extend our st - it was so beautiful! the staff were amazing and so helpful! nothing! it was all fantastic
- Amir (7/5): Good - Beautiful place, big comfortable bed in a cozy quiet dormitory. Good wifi. Friendly and helpful staff. Speak English too. Water machine with different temperatures. Equipped kitchen They don't have storage for baggages after checking out. More expensive if you pay with cards.
- Sineadyb (5/5): Not a comfortable place to stay, even if the staff are friendly - Staff were friendly and helped us out with laundry and tour bookings. Location is good. Bed wasn't at all comfortable because the mattress didn't fit the bed properly and the pillows were far too hard. There is no facility to leave luggage (we would have paid for this if it was available). No towels in a private room unless you pay for them. Toilet often didn't flush very well. The walls are paper thin so we could hear every word said in the dorm next door.
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Raul (10/5): Buenisimo - Muy hospitalario limpio y servicial a mis necesidades. Me gusto y gustoso regresare.
- Carlos Luis (10/5): Buen lugar. - Buena experiencia por ese precio. Sin quejas. Gran trato.
- Ernesto Agustin (8/5): Pintoresco y agradable - Muy bien, mi autobus llego a alas 12 am y aun asi me abrieron para entrar a hospedarme. Amabilidad y buen servicio, pero lleven su propio jabon, crema y shampu y toalla, por que si no les toca pedir prestado a un rommie
- Luisa P (8/5): Bueno - Agradable estancia, recomendable a buen precio, buena ubicación
- Lili (10/5): Lugar muy agradable - Staff muy amable y servicial
Lugar limpio
El major precio
- Verified traveler (6/5): Great staff, but dirty bed - PRO: Although there was only one person who was able to speak English fluently, the staff was very friendly and welcoming. They did housekeeping of my room 1 of the 3 nights there, so that was great.
Room has a fan that will keep you cool enough. The share area has a bunch of local recommendations you can rely on.
CON: Ok bathroom and shower.
It's barely a breakfast - I would not rely on it. Milk, juice and some cereal-looking thing.
Bed had fleas or bed bugs.... got bitten all over my legs... very uncomfortable there.
Wifi was slow at best - not connecting most of the time.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Big beds and awesome people - Stayed in a shared dorm room and there were many options for the bunk beds. I had a queen sized bed to myself. The place has a funny multi levelled lay out but it is in line with the interesting place. Great location to musume and shops.
- The Bird From Blighty (8/5): Great price for a nice double room - We stayed here for 6 nights in the end. It is very well situated in Guadalajara with the Central Historico and other attractions nearby. Some reviews have said that the street feels unsafe but we didn't feel that.
The double room was good with a comfy bed and hot water in the shower (most of the time). Reception staff were helpful with suggestions and called us a cab to the airport.
It said there was free breakfast but we didn't witness this happening and no one mentioned it on check in, we didn't ask as we were happy eating the incredible local food. It also says that there is housekeeping daily but our room only got cleaned once.
It didn't really feel like a backpacker place as no one seemed very sociable and on the last night the place was full of children who arrived at 10pm, were super loud until after 11 and then again from 6am!
We were happy with everything overall, particularly as it was such a good price. If you are a budget traveler looking for somewhere to rest your head whilst enjoying the splendour of Guadalajara i wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
- Cristi (2/5): Not good. Do not recommend! - Let me start by saying I've traveled a lot and been in many hostels before, so I know that a hostel isn't supposed to be super clean or comfortable. Given that, this was one of the worst, if not the worst experience in a hostel. There was usually no one in reception, the bathrooms and common areas were dirty and a mess, the bed was super uncomfortable ( I could feel all the springs ). If there happened to be someone in reception, they weren't very helpful or knowledgeable. They say they provide breakfast, but they really don't ( only the first day there was a tiny bowl with cereal and some milk, juice).
Positives: they allowed me to check in at 7 am when I arrived, internet is relatively good, and there is hot water for shower ( although the water doesn't go down the drain creating a big puddle).
Overall disappointed with this experience.
- Alex (8/5): Good location - Over all good friendly staff close to shopping center ... .
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good enough - We had a good stay here. Brilliant location near the old bus station and centre of town and a good price. All the beds are also double beds. This being said the floor was always dirty (I had to give up washing my feet) and the kitchen was a bit of a tip with dirty dishes everywhere. It took us a few days to figure out who worked in the hostel as often no one was around so it made it hard to ask for tips although they do have information on the walls. One day a guy arrived, we let him in and tried to find someone to check him in, no luck. Went out for dinner and 3 hours later he was still waiting so I tried to find someone and finally he had a bed. Another problem we had was after 2 days in a room the manager kindly asked us to move as a 'family' was coming and needed a private room. He was nice so we obliged even though packing and unpacking was a pig. We were not angry or bitter about this until two things happened... 1. Another lady who worked there very abruptly told us to move our stuff now and just had an awful manner about her, she should not be working with people at all and 2. When this so called 'family' turned up it happened to just be 2 sets of backpackers??? Don't know what happened there but they should really sort their organisational skills out so that they don't have to move guests around.
Overall however we did have a good enough stay here for the price we paid just don't expect much - the breakfast is also not worth mentioning.
- Diego (10/5): Great Hostel Experience. - I got to meet some great travelers and hear their experiences.
