• Adnan (4/5): - Nothing unfortunately, i hate to write bad reviews, but there isn’t much i can say about this hotel. I was given the worst room, breakfast was very bad, staff is unfriendly (but i can tell why), mosquitoes killed me, i was planning to stay the whole trip, thank god i only booked 3 nights. I don’t recommend this hotel for “non-white” people because you will 100% feel the discomfort!! Reception people are very bad.
• Montana (8/5): - Está en buena zona caminando 5 min tienes todo el centro de Sal, el personal es muy simpático Hubo un pequeño problema ya que escogimos un apartamento y al llegar por la noche no había disponibilidad y nos dieron 2 habitaciones esa noche y al día siguiente nos daban el apartamento. Al final no vimos el apartamento y nos conformamos con las dos habitaciones ya que el gerente del hotel nos dijo que luego en comprensión haría un descuento pero vaya que no lo vimos . Obviando ese percance por el resto la estancia genial y muy cómodo todo. El desayuno considero que faltaba un poco más de variedad pero estaba rico

• Virginia (7/5): - Läget mycket centralt. Receptionen super hjälpsam och trevliga. Frukost mycket variation superbra personal. Duschen inte så fresh och mycket mygg I rummet. Skulle kunna ha sopat lite i gångerna och trappan lite smutsig.

• Tina (6/5): - Le personnel est incroyablement sympathique et arrangeant. Ils ont su nous faire passer un bon séjour et nous trouvez des solutions à chaque problème. Le fait de pouvoir manger et boire tout au long de la journée est aussi un plus. L’établissement mériterait une rénovation et la propreté des draps n’est pas au top. Les terrasses ne sont pas exploitées c’est dommage. Concernant le petit déjeuner effectivement c’est un peu premier arrivé premier servi et le réassort peu être long.

• Luca (7/5): - La posizione comoda per raggiungere spiagge e il paese in pochi minuti a piedi. Vicino ci sono market e qualche ristorante senza dover arrivare in paese. Camera molto spaziosa, piscina fruibile,terrazze comuni riparate dal vento utilizzabili come solarium. Lo staff della reception molto disponibile, hanno risolto velocemente problemi con la doccia e la porta malfunzionanti. Intorno molti cantieri. Poco spazio interno per la colazione, se c'è vento forte la terrazza esterna per la colazione non è utilizzabile. La colazione era sufficiente in quantità ma con una scelta limitata.

• Justino (8/5): Estancia tranquila - El hotel estaba limpio y era cómodo. La zona de la piscina solo sirve para tomar el sol, cosa que se agradece ya que en la playa había mucho aire. Creo que pueden mejorar en el desayuno y la ducha del baño, al estar abierta, sin puertas ni mamparas, se moja todo y queda un charco de agua molesto en el servicio.

Airco werkte niet goed. Vreselijke lucht uit badkamer. Personeel spreekt geen Engels, op 1 na. Handdoeken om de 3 dagen schoon. Zwembad niet schoon. Hele kleine kamer.

O quarto era bom, pequeno-almoço bom (apesar de não ter havido ovos num dia nem haver rotação dos pratos salgados) e a localização próxima ao centro, a poucos minutos a pé de distância da praia, restaurantes e comércio. A insonorização dos quartos não é das melhores mas dorme-se tranquilamente nas horas de descanso.

• Catherine (7/5): Basic hotel within walking distance of the beach - The breakfast was adequate. It was within walking distance of the beach and restaurants. The pool was small but great to be able to have a swim However when we tried to check on at 2 pm we were told that no linen had been delivered and we couldn’t use the room. My sister in law was so tired she just wanted to lie down. We kept asking and eventually we were allowed to use it at 4 pm. Regrettably my sister in law has since died 2 weeks after returning from our trip

Personnel ģenéralement sympathique (la personne de l'accueil m'a orienté vers une sortie à la journée avec une guide, c'était très bien). Bonne connexion internet dans la chambre, comme à l'accueil. Je ne pouvais pas baisser le bouchon du lavabo ; au niveau de l'évacuation de la douche il y avait également un problème. En arrivant au petit-déjeuner à l'heure, le personnel n'était pas prêt ; en soi ça n'est pas un problème mais j'ai trouvé l'attitude d'une personne du service assez désagréable pour m'empêcher de rentrer, sans explication.

• Angela (7/5): No stress - Os funcionários são o grande cartão de visita do hotel! Incrivelmente simpáticos, super atenciosos, sempre prontos a ajudar e a resolver qualquer questão! Tivemos alguns percalços mas tudo foi tratado com a máxima atenção! Quarto espaçoso no 3o piso com varanda e muita luz natural. Já foi a terceira vez que ficámos no hotel da Luz. Desta vez viajámos com um bebé que foi super bem tratado por todos!! Inclusive permitiram-nos fazer check-in antes da hora. Ter elevador é um ponto a favor pois noutros alojamentos não há e com o carrinho do bebé torna-se essencial. Limpeza diária e troca de toalhas sempre que preciso! E as fidjos de banana no pequeno almoço: divinas!! Tivemos algumas questões que valorizamos mais por viajarmos com um bebé. Ao chegar faltava o mini bar que for colocado assim que alertamos! Devido às chuvas intensas houve problemas com o ar condicionado mas ao 4o dia foi colocado um novo que funcionou perfeitamente! Alguns detalhes de manutenção como má vedação das torneiras e borrachas das portas do polibã já não vedam mas felizmente sem inundações no wc. Um dia não conseguimos toalhas para a praia porque havia demasiado trabalho na lavandaria. A tv não funcionou, como das outras vezes, embora para nós não seja um problema.

• Badr (7/5): Great location, close to both the city center and the beach - Great location, close to both the city center and the beach. The reception staff were very helpful. I asked to change my ground-floor room, and they arranged it quickly. I would like to thank them for their efficiency and kindness. Also, bed and pillows were very comfortables The restaurant staff were not friendly at all. No greeting, no smile, and they don’t even ask for your room number when you enter, nor do they check if you need anything. Eggs are not available at the buffet and must be ordered directly from the kitchen, but it feels like no one is there to assist you. Overall, it seems that there is unfortunately a general issue with service quality in Cape Verde — not only at the hotel but on the island in general, based on what I have observed. Staff often do not seem very welcoming and do not appear to care much about guest satisfaction.

The breakfast was better than expected. Overall I’d prob choose the hotel Again though. The bed was basic, the system of ordering eggs and keeping the buffet full was random/chaotic. The cleaning service for the room was haphazard. The lift was temperamental.

• Mercedes (9/5): Muy agradable y con buenas habitaciones - Buena ubicación en la parte no tan turística de la ciudad, entorno muy agradable -sobre todo la zona del bar y la piscina- y habitaciones estupendas. Desayuno rico, aunque tampoco nada del otro mundo. La habitación olía a humedad fácilmente. La ducha no tenía cortina ni mampara y el baño se ensuciaba bastante cada vez que nos duchábamos. Un día llovió y se notó que el lugar no estaba preparado para ello.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience genuinely warrants it—especially after the manager called the entire cleaning team to confront us at the front desk. Myself and my cousin stayed at Hotel da Luz for a week during our trip to Santa Maria. We chose this hotel mainly for its location and the positive reviews, which gave us no reason to expect major issues. We were given a ground-floor room with two beds. Immediately, we noticed a strong smell coming from the bathroom/drains and the fact that the shower had no glass or curtain, despite what was shown on the website. After the first night—having to keep the bathroom door shut because the smell was overwhelming—we requested a room change, but were told the hotel was fully booked. The receptionist was apologetic but could do nothing more. Because the shower was completely open, towels had to be replaced every day. After each shower, the bathroom floor, toilet seat, and surrounding area were soaked, so we had to clean up before we could move around safely. It was far from a relaxing experience. One night, I saw few small cockroaches coming in and out of the shower drain and stones. The next day, we found a larger one in the bathroom. Again, we reported this. The receptionist sprayed insect repellent around the bathroom and shut the door, telling us not to use it for a while. When we asked for further action, we were told nothing else could be done. On top of this, the room cleaning became noticeably poor. Towels were not replaced unless specifically requested, and toilet roll was not replenished. After multiple complaints, a different room was eventually offered late in the afternoon—but only for us to sleep in for the night. By that point, after a long day in the sun, we didn’t want to pack everything for a one-night move. On the fifth day, when the manager was finally on-site, we expected at least a proper conversation.

• Rogerio (4/5): Great location but should improve the facilities. - The location is good and some staff were nice. They loan beach towels without asking for extra fees. The fact the rooms weren’t in great condition, the shower didn’t have one door so the water would come out every time we took a shower. Also the room always had a funny smell. The shower towels were old. The breakfast was poor , short variety and food wasn’t being replaced often.

Ainda na casa de banho, o lavatório não está corretamente vedado, o que faz com que o chão esteja sempre molhado.

• Erika Milanka (10/5): An incredibly clean, spacious, and welcoming stay in the perfect location — I only wish I could have - The location was perfect, just a short walk to the main street with all the restaurants. The vibe of the place was amazing, and everything was spotless – honestly one of the cleanest places I’ve ever stayed. The staff were lovely, and the room was so spacious and comfortable. Nothing really stood out as negative during my stay.

• Francisca (7/5): - A localização Havia alguns pormenores no quarto como falta de frigorífico (todos os outros quartos tinham), pedi várias vezes para irem arranjar a banheira que estava a deitar água fora.

• Andreia (8/5): Estadia muito agradável - Localização excelente. 5 min a pé do centro de Santa Maria. 10 min a pé da praia de Santa Maria. O pequeno almoço era bom e suficiente. A troca de toalhas de banho poderia ser mais recorrente
• Joana (9/5): Maravilhosa - O pequeno almoço era bem composto com frutas cereais pão leite sumos naturais café chocolate capucino iogurte.. cachupa aveia ovos mexidos omelete geleias entre outros… ao jantar tinha entrada prato principal e sobremesa com menu assinalado com os pratos que se podiam escolher O hotel tem um ambiente muito familiar agradável muito limpo o pessoal super simpático e atencioso está muito bem situado e fomos muito bem tratadas.
• Stessi (6/5): Déçu - La piscine - la localisation - la femme de ménage qui a très bien fait son travail. Les bruits dehors (chiens, travaux...) - le personnel ne sourie jamais - le rapport qualité prix n'est pas au rdv - la lumière qui rentre dans la chambre a 6h car les rideaux n'étaient pas top - nous avons mis 3 jours avant d'avoir des serviettes de piscine malgré nos nombreuses demandes - le petit déjeuner n'était pas top mais en plus de ça il y a qu'un service, donc si vous arrivez un peu tard, il y a presque plus rien... De manière générale l'hôtel ne vaux pas son prix.
