Guest Reviews
- Viviana (10/5): - Staff excellent
Stunning sunsets
- LUIS (10/5): Excelente fin de semana en familia - Pasé un fin de semana con mi familia, la suite de 1 recamara me pareció muy bien equipada, todo en buen estado, muy amable el personal.
- Nancy (8/5): - Service
- Martha (8/5): - I am rating too low because they did NOT give me the deposit back yet. It’s been over a month I am still waiting for any good response from the hotel.
The hotel is nice but the staff is not helping with the deposit back. In most of hotels take $100.00 dls and in this hotel $7,000.00 pesos
- Enrique (10/5): - Very nice hotel! The rooms, the pool, the restaurants, everything was very good.
- Mark (8/5): - The grounds and property are very nice especially the pool area. The included breakfast buffet was really amazing. Everything you could want. The staff is generally very attentive and every evening they delivered a dessert complimentary to our room. The property was maybe 20% occupancy during our stay. The main downside was the high pressure sales pitch that you are forced into the day you arrive. They told us our room wasn’t ready and that a man would “review the property and services with us”. That was for about 2 minutes of a 25 minute pitch to try to get us to attend an “informative membership presentation” the next morning. They offered discounts for the restaurants, a discounted tour, 15 free drinks and even bottles of liquor. We had no interest, but he persisted. Later even offering a free tour. He was unhappy with our rejection which made us both a bit uncomfortable if the staff was unhappy with us. Of course our room was ready after the pitch. This seems mandatory so please expect this sales pitch. Also, the exchange rate was VERY LOW at the hotel and they tried to force us to use taxis (double the cost vs. Uber). We wish we knew this before arriving and may have played a role in our decision to stay here.
- Arturo (10/5): - Nos encantó el lugar, los restaurantes no son muy buenos y son algo caros, pero te dejan comprar despensa y cocinar en tu cuarto. Lo demás fue todo excelente.
- Emily (10/5): - There was a $500 resort discount voucher included in my reservation. The vouchers were useless. There was $80 worth of vouchers that were for "upgrade room". There is no point of an "upgrade room" voucher when you have already paid for the room and these vouchers are given after the fact.
- Alfonso (4/5): . - .
- HUGO (10/5): - great stay
- Jessica (8/5): - Hotel is in excellent condition and the beach is amazing. Food and food and beverage service is great.
The only 2 things is that air conditionate on room made too much noise, and they charge a 15% tip plus 16% tax on every bill (in Mexico service is charged separetely) so beware on double tipping when paying the bill.
- John (8/5): - Great hotel, however check-in was absolutely horrible! Waited over an hour standing in the lobby to even get to the check-in desk. There was only a couple parties in front of us, but staff was extremely slow!!! Slowest check in that I’ve ever had!!!
- Britney (10/5): Friends trip. - The service was amazing from the moment we walked through the doors to the day that we left everyone that worked there was so helpful and friendly 10 out of 10 would recommend and go back.
- Danny (6/5): - The beach and staff
- Jagadeesh (10/5): - Great place for a family vacation. Lot of dining options. By the beach with lots of amenities. Staff were super friendly and nice!
- Joseph (10/5): - Loved the friendly staff, property well kept and beautiful.
- Jesus (10/5): - Really relaxing
- MIGUEL (8/5): - Nice property all around. Quite and calm.
Could use more entertainment!
- Monica (10/5): - Very friendly people. Room service was excellent.
- Robert (10/5): - Liked the view of the pools and resort. Very friendly staff. Clean and quiet.
- Mari Lyn (8/5): - We absolutely love staying at Villa del Palmar! The resort's location right on the ocean is unbeatable, and most of the rooms offer stunning ocean views. We had an amazing balcony with comfortable outdoor seating, perfect for relaxing and taking in the scenery. The rooms are spacious with cozy beds, and the pool area is both beautiful and expansive, featuring plenty of comfortable lounge chairs. One of our favorite things is enjoying the ocean view while swimming in the pool. The pool staff is especially friendly and attentive—there’s always someone nearby to take your drink order.
This was our second stay at Villa del Palmar, and we definitely plan to return. However, we did experience a few issues during this visit. Our room wasn’t as clean as expected upon arrival; we found some leftover food and debris on the floor, and the balcony furniture, bedside table, and desk were quite dusty. I ended up cleaning and sanitizing the space before we unpacked. Additionally, one of the recessed lights in our room was flickering. We reported it to the front desk the next morning, but unfortunately, it wasn’t addressed during our stay. On our last full day, we also didn’t receive fresh towels and had to track down a housekeeper, who was not very friendly.
Despite these inconveniences, the beauty of the resort and the overall experience still made our stay enjoyable. We’re hopeful that these were isolated issues, and we’re looking forward to coming back again soon!
- Angel (10/5): - Beautiful
- PATY (8/5): - Room was great, provided with the bottle of wine as listed VIP, however, did not honor free breakfast, they tried to get in to a as talk for Time share to get it. If you do not choose all inclusive or go to the talk for time share, they treat you a bit bitter. As part of VIP we had 10 percent discount, but had to basically fight to get it, because they do not apply it. Beach and pool are great.
- Rosario (10/5): - I normally go to Vallarta a lot but this is the best resort i ever stay love it
- JOSE VICENTE (10/5): Excelente - Todo excelente, el personal muy atento. Excepto en el restaurante el patrón nos llegó a tocar un par de meseros algo groseros. De ahí en más todo muy bien!
- Kerry (8/5): - Many things to like about the property. Rooms are wonderful and clean, housekeeping was amazing and location is good. Only issue was the staff was not very friendly, the $75 day spa credit was a joke (you can only use credit from 4 to 7pm and massages started at $230) and they are a little too pushy about the timeshare option.
- Chassie (2/5): - I was treated absolutely awfully upon my check-in. They said I didn’t have a booking. I had to wait for one hour at such a late hour of the night when I was so tired and just wanted to get to my room. An Expedia chat worker had to call the resort several times to get me to my room eventually.
Since my time here I have been gouged. They keep adding extra costs onto every time I order food or drinks. They make mistakes on my bill and try to add extra costs on. The service has been terrible and the drinks are awful. I am definitely not happy and I really wish I did not pick this property And I didn’t even get the property that I actually chose.
I’m hoping you can look into what you can do because I have a lot of extra charges now with being here and the staff just ignores me and they don’t really speak English very well.
Please I hope you can help. Thank you.So
- Mario (10/5): - Gracias
- Julia cecilia (10/5): - Excelente todo!!
- Mónica Gabriela (10/5): - Falta que quiten todas las toallas de los camastros que nadie se sienta
- Nathan (10/5): - I loved the whole property. I had a great time.
- Kevin (10/5): - They do an amazing job of looking after the property. Very clean and well kept. The staff are awesome with friendly and prompt service. They go above and beyond in so many ways. Food was excellent with a nice variety for a smaller resort.
- Luke (10/5): - Unbelievably beautiful. Staff is incredible. Every person we encountered treated us with love and respect. I highly recommend!
- Ashley (10/5): AMAZING!! - We had a horrible experience at Canto Del Sol and booked Flamingos last minute. They took care of us from the minute we arrived and helped turn our vacation around. They gave us an amazing room and the entire time we were there the service was top notch. I will absolutely be coming back and telling all of my friends and family to come here as well. This will be the first of many times I stay at flamingos
- Blanca (10/5): - Todo estuvo de maravilla
- Joseph G (10/5): - The resort was very clean and well layed out pool area. Good dinning options. Good stay.
- Lynn (10/5): - Everything was wonderful. The only complain I would have is the loud music around the pool.
- Genevieve (10/5): - Wonderful service!
- Bridget (8/5): - Pools and beach are very nice. Staff is excellent.
- Ian (8/5): - I always said I would never stay in a room with two beds and only one chair and there we were and expensive too
- Saul (8/5): - Size of rooms were above average and clean. Property is showing its age a bit but still recommend. More eating options would be nice too.
- Tracey (10/5): - The staff were amazing! Friendly and very helpful. Always positive and eager to enhance our stay in any way possible. The rooms were clean and the housekeeping staff were fast and efficient in cleaning our rooms.
The pool staff and waiters were friendly, and worked very hard to meet every guest’s needs.
We did not do the all inclusive so I cannot comment on the food. We ate in local restaurants and walked to Bucerias daily. Would definitely return to this hotel.
- David (8/5): - I like that the rooms have a kitchenette or full kitchen. Also the staff is friendly and welcoming. The location is great also. I didn’t like that the water in the shower was not warm enough. This was the first time this happened. I had stayed there several times and it was not a problem. But overall it’s my favorite resort so far.
- Eric (6/5): - We liked that everything was close due to the size of the facility, the pool was large and relaxing and it was a short hop to dive into the ocean. The ocean view from our balcony allowed us to watch dolphins and whales swimming across the Bay, that was very cool.
The staff were very friendly, however they were uninformed when it came to the discount promotions we were offered. We found ourselves walking back and forth from the restaurants to the front desk trying to get clarification.
The reward for going to the Ownership Presentation was certificates amounting to $150 US dollars, but all pricing at the restaurants was in pesos. The posted exchange rate was a little over 18 pesos/$ which should have made a $50 certificate worth 900 pesos, the waiters were adamant that the certs were worth 800 pesos. We were told we could use them all over the property but that turned out to be limited.
My wife very much enjoyed her spa treatments
- Joseph (6/5): - Room was wet like they barely finished mopping when I arrived. I didn't receive the credit I was told I would receive. Stay was nice but needed touch ups here and there. Food options were okay.
- Kimberly (10/5): - I cannot say enough great things about this resort! We opted to stay here despite the rest of our family and friends staying at another resort for a destination wedding we all were attending and I am so glad I chose this resort! From the minute we arrived we had exceptional service and the rooms were amazing! The food choices were great and the staff was amazing! We felt welcomed and always were cared for with great service! I highly recommend this place for families looking to relax and also to have options for things to do. The concierge offered great options and we even found the horses on the beach an amazing last minute choice!
- Christine (8/5): - Nice clean quiet resort. Activities staff was great! Dining options were not great. If you’re not all inclusive there’s not much to choose from besides pool or room service. No breakfast menu restaurant- only buffet. The theme night shows are tied into paying for a buffet. Not informed about that and had already ate dinner so no shows for us. The elevator near our room was broken. Mom had a long walk to go anywhere.
- juan (10/5): - Room was never swept or mop
- Erika (10/5): - The property was great, and beautiful views & staff was kind and helpful.
- Ramses (10/5): - We faced some accommodation challenges during our stay, yet, we found the staff and the manager pretty approachable and helpful.
- Gildardo (10/5): Nice place - Our annual family vacation planned in nuevo vallarta was awesome. Villa del palmar was a good place to stay if you’re looking for an all inclusive, but don’t get fooled, I originally paid the price and it was adveas all inclusive, but I got a surprised that hotels.com fooled me as it only had breakfast included.
Property is nice, except for the construction going on. Great food and great service!
- James (8/5): - Property had elevator outages and construction going on. Would like to have known that upfront
- Rocio (6/5): - Elevator did not work. I was not notified during reservation. Dining was mediocre. Better food at fast food restaurant. It took 40 minutes to check in. While 4 people in member services were sitting there- cross train! The only positive is that service staff were fantastic - personable, approachable, and helpful.
- Raul (6/5): Elevator not working - We were "upgraded" to "better" room. In that tower the elevator was not working. We were in a 4th floor, carrying up and down our stuffs and sometimes the kids. Not great time.
- daniel james (10/5): - Very nice place I was supposed to get a bottle of wine according to Expedia but it never arrived. They could use more sitting areas in the lobby and outside but other than that it’s a wonderful resort. It is a little bit more than some of the other ones but very nice place.
- Anna (2/5): - From check in rude stuff, not friendly at all. Food is WAY overpriced and not good. When I complained about something, there were no reaction. Lines are everywhere.
Hugely disappointed.
- Jaime (10/5): - Was s great experience!
- Randall (6/5): - Nice building and room
The staff were great with the exception of the check in. It took 1 hour & 45 minutes to move four spots forward to make it to the check in desk. Then we were assigned a room already given to someone else. So we took a room for one night and changed to what was acceptable for a room for 13 nites the next day. Not enough staff ever at the front desk - should be prepared to staff up!
- Kim A. (4/5): - Our stay started with a tour for membership. The representative they gave us the tour whose name is Ulysses was incredibly mean, disrespectful, and insulting, not only to me, but especially my wife. Called us fools and idiots. After this, we had to spend the next four days at a resort that made us feel like they hated us. Completely terrible experience and although I’ve stayed there three times before I will never be coming back. This hotel experience was very poor from all aspects. Some of the staff was nice to us, but overall they seem to be an angry group. On top of that the food was incredibly disappointing and did not match any of the food that we had off of premises. Again terrible experience and would not do it again. Kym Lewin.
- Bill (8/5): - Great place to stay overall.
Seemed like there was too much paperwork on a meal by meal and drink by drink basis
- Megan (2/5): - The resort itself is okay. But checking in was an absolute nightmare. Someone with the resort told us to check out of our other resort next door early and they would get us in early… we got there at 9:30 am and they kept giving us a different time that our room would be ready. We didn’t get into our room until 4:30pm. Just to find out that they put us until a room with two double beds instead of one king sized bed like I paid for. For the amount of money I paid to stay here, I am extremely disappointed.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Beautiful resort with bad service - The resort is beautiful, clean. Beach was excellent. Check in was a nightmare. Our reservation said free breakfast, which we had to prove and sent emails to the management. Then the price of payment. We were supposed to have free bottle of wine and free massage. They said you have to request it. 3 days later and six requests we have received the bottle of wine. It became a game for us. When we went to claim the massage they said yes, massage is free but it will be a $50 service charge. We didn’t even bother fighting the room we booked. Too much work and hassle. We fought breakfast two mornings in row. I wouldn’t stay here again.
- Tara (10/5): - Excellent
- Steven (10/5): - Swimmable beach, beautiful rooms , beautiful view. Friendly staff
- LuAnne (10/5): - Beautiful resort
- Donald (4/5): Fix a few things and it's a 5 star rating - My low overall rating is based on 2 things:
1. It's an ABSOLUTE pain that people are allowed to put towels on both pool and beach chairs early in the morning tying the chairs up all day but the chairs themselves may be tied up for only 1, 2 maybe 3 hours of the day. I encourage you to figure out a system to eliminate this. Ruins the experience for those who don't show those selfish traits.
2. The new procedure of opening up reservations at 1PM penalizes those who don't hang around the resort all day. If you're out doing activities for the day, even when you get back by 2PM - the only reservations available tend to be 9PM.
- John (10/5): Wonderful property, great service overall - All wonderful except:
1-Zumba in the morning was way too loud!
2- The 10% discount on food & drink and the breakfast included (part of our purchased stay on Hotels.com) was a constant hassle because staff did not acknowledge it - management had to be brought in each time and they validated it - but with much wasted time for all. You should eliminate this, or simply provide a card or vouchers so the staff know, and it will then be easy for everybody.
Beautiful property, wonderful food and service - THANK YOU!
- Robert (2/5): - staff was terrible
- Anthony (10/5): - nice property, friendly staff, great breakfast buffet.
only issue is the lack of lounge chairs at pool and beach and difficulty in obtaining one.
- Tiaanna (6/5): - Very disorganized at front desk with regards to specific questions and replies. Very hard core aggressive time share salespeople. Breakfast is not relaxing as most tables are attended by salesmen. Unless you’re a constant tipper, good luck getting something done. I got locked out outside of the patio one night. It was a frightening experience. Patio door malfunctioned. Although, was given a glass of wine for free to ease my anxiety. Lounge chairs are hoarded by most time share owners and tough to find one if you’re a guest by 9:00 am. Sometimes, they don’t even use the chairs. Staff knows who are huge extra tippers and who aren’t, so good luck getting anything with a smile. I noticed the change when I started tipping EXTRA. Tips have been charged, but one can tip extra. A guest is not informed about all that’s included in one’s package until the guest gets spits of info here and there from people. I’m sure as a time share member, my opinion is invalidated. Such a nice Resort, but run like no one knows what they’re doing, unless you’re a big EXTRA tipper. But, it is México after all. I can understand.
- Angela (2/5): - Terrible
- Ramiro (2/5): - Not only did we get checked-in late because resort was understaffed, but I was double-charged for my stay as well. I ALWAYS pay in advance with Expedia but when we got checked-in, they ran my credit card a second time without telling me what it was for. I assumed it was for incidentals but once I returned, I noticed two different charges from the same hotel. I reported/disputed it with my cc but the resort came back saying they didn't have a record of my original payment. I tried contacting them via Expedia messaging and over the phone, but they never followed up. This type of service is NOT what you'd expect from this type of "resort".
- W.John (10/5): - Clean
- Arlett Elivier (4/5): - I rate this place 3 out of 10. Hortencia at the front desk was extremely kind and patient. We checked in on Christmas Day only to be told that we did not pay for the “all inclusive”. However, I specifically searched for all inclusive hotels which is how we came about in choosing this resort. The family and I had been traveling since 2am, so we were extremely tired and hungry checked in about 3-4pm. Hortencia tried calling Travelocity but no one answered so we ended up paying for “all inclusive” yet again. Reason I’m rating this hotel so poorly is because of room issues. 1. The phone did not work, it took 3 x of us complaining before it got fixed. The first time we complained they sent someone, he came and said they would need to replace the phone and never came back. 2. The bathroom fan did not work, there was a leak under the sink that soaked a bunch of our toiletries. We had to put towels down to try and catch some of the water that seemed to slowly pour out from under the sink and between the wall, but not sure exact location but towels were extremely soaked by the am - the leak never got fixed. 3. Two out of the 6 days we stayed at this hotel towels had blood stains, we complained they brought new ones - also, we were a family of 4 and sometimes we would only have 3 sets of towels, so having to call for an extra set was extremely annoying. Oh, the pool area. Towels were sometimes hard to come by. There never seemed to be enough chairs for everyone but we made it work.
- Dean (10/5): - Loved the location & staff . VIP access was a bonus . Would stay here again . Cheers
- Anishkumar (2/5): - We stayed for five nights during 2023 Christmas season. I would give ZERO stars if I could!!! We had booked a room with two queen beds, however, we were given a room with one bed and a sofa. Many people were smoking close to our patio and we couldn't use patio at all. There was frequent drilling noise above our room throughout our stay. On our second night, there was loud music from reception till 1am at night and we could not sleep at all. Customer service did not exist in most of our interactions. For example, when we went to La Trattoria restaurant, the waitress rudely said "There is no room FOR YOU". There are no vegetarian options at all in room service. If you are a vegetarian, good luck finding any decent choices. The whole place was super crowded and noisy. Overall, a terrible experience! We will NEVER stay here again!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): 5 Night Stay - Nice pool. Nice beach. Excellent breakfast buffet. They were a little pushy trying to get us to go to one of their Time Share meetings which we didn't attend. We got a reasonable rate thru Hotels. Otherwise it would have been out of our price range. The room was amazing. Had a wonderful stay.
- Shailesh (8/5): - Safety
- Maria (4/5): - The checkin @220pm horrible experience, room wasn’t ready we being told by Adam )the only agent at the front desk that we have to come back later, long line, we have to live and comeback @ 8pm, finally room ready, the agent at the front desk female aroun 55old, very unfriendly, WIFI did not work, they request hold on a CC $5000pesos equal $250us dlls, ridiculous, no cash accepted at any restaurant or gift shop, I wont recommend it…
- Martin (10/5): - Great stay, staff was great! Great set up
on property amenities yet walkable to many other spots.
- DOROTA (6/5): - 5 days of my stay at the pool during the cleaning process, the water was not clean, the HOT Tub water was cold and the jets were not working /it was fixed after 5 days/I was leaving that day. I asked the service desk 2 times and other people also asked...nothing was done for 5 days of my stay, and no shampoo was delivered for 2 days. I was promised on the 1st day to get a massage and spa service with a discount but never did. Just do not promise if you are unable to keep the promise...The servers at the pool area, bell person, and restaurant were outstanding. If you came to us, not a member you just received bad service, water drinks, etc. I see the difference because I am a member but this time I was just the tourist staying in the hotel paying the price comparable to other 4.5-5-star hotels. I got the treatment of 2-3 stars....It wasn't right
- Garth Steven (2/5): - The pool was unsafe to swim and from what we are hearing this has been an on going problem . The water was green due to Algae as the pumps were not working and it’s been like that for a few months now. There is absolutely no entertainment and the hotel pretty well is a ghost town at 8:30 at night. You would think Expedia would stop sending people to a resort like this due to water problems. We were at this resort for 10 days and not once were we in the pool . People were finding themselves with flu like symptoms because of the water conditions that they decided to swim in .
- Samuel (10/5): - Todo estuvo extraordinariamente bien ya queremos regresar otra vez e invitar a nuestros amigos!!
- Mary Ellen (6/5): - The check in was very slow the fellow checking us in didn’t have our proper information as per our reservation. He had our visa but for some reason, put our info on MasterCard which we don’t have. The accounting dept must have figured out the problem. We ordered our first drink it was shown that we hadn’t even checked in given a room number. Absolutely bizarre. Another staff member helped us get through the situation!!
On another note, they are short on towels for the beach chairs. And, it’s not even high season yet !!
There was a fire in the main kitchen one night where apparently their recyclables caught on fire. Smoke was everywhere . We were all kept out of our rooms for a few hours but no one came knocking on doors advising there was a problem. We fortunately were out for dinner that night came back to chaos !! The Villa Group never sent out any communication as to what had happened which is not good or an apology.
- Bruce (8/5): - Villa Del Palmar has been a favorite destination of ours for 20 years. The staff are the best!! Always quick to help and with a friendly smile. Many of them are like close friends. We look forward to seeing Agustine at the pool, Antonio and Louis always make us feel at home when they greet us at the front.
Our only complaint was the condition of the resort was not as clean as years past. The pool was so cloudy, I would not put my head under water it was bad! I informed them several times. It was not fixed the whole 8 days we were there. The sidewalks around the pool did not look like they were being washed regularly.
Having said that, we are planning on returning in the spring. Hopefully these were just temporary issues.
- Pamela (10/5): - It was all around amazing.
- John (8/5): - Excellent staff and food. Spacious one bedroom room. Rooms need updating. Technology poor.
- Julio (8/5): - excellent place, very nice and quiet, recommended to spend an excellent vacation with the family! It is safe and very clean! It would be perfect if they had more vegan options to eat!
- cesar (4/5): - The service was horrible waited 40 min or longer for beverages and pool food.
- JESUS (8/5): - Very good
- John (10/5): - The property became our home for 9 days. Getting around the location became second nature and was mostly easy, save for the elevator nearest to our room going out of order. There was little to no noise at night, it was great coming back to our air conditioned room each night and if we wanted any a snacks after dinner there was a convenience store on the premises.
- PEDRO (10/5): - EXCELLENT HOTEL
- milton (10/5): - Hotel is in a very excellent condition. Nice pool and garden area. I will definitely recommend it.
- David (10/5): - I’ve stayed at many resorts in Mexico and this resort had the friendliest staff I’ve ever had the pleasure experiencing. I’d be happy to return.
- Raymundo (4/5): - Rude staff
- CONSUELO (6/5): - Love the people customer service is great!
- Jose (10/5): - Enjoyed my stay here. Liked the food options and how close the beach was. All staff members were extremely helpful. Definitely recommend.
- Jose Luis (10/5): - The resort pretty much had everything that we were expecting, the only thing that we would like is for the resort to have some night life shows and a dance floor nothing to crazy
- Jacqueline Sheree (8/5): - Property was at the end of the hotel district. Loved the area if you are wanting a more relaxed vacation. It’s 45 mins to downtown if you want to be around more of the restaurants.
- Oscar (10/5): - This place is awesome... service is great, lots of activities, they have a special place where they take care of the little ones, definitely going back!!!
