Guest Reviews
- Vicki (6/5): - Great Breakfast.
- David (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful! Cute place. Clean.
- Lyle (10/5): - Few historic buildings in Canada are available like this one.
- Sheri (6/5): - Photos online by the property are quite different than what the rooms I stayed in look like. Furniture is extremely old/worn. Blinds are wrecked, filthy and don't close. No air conditioning and the one portable fan turns itself off which was a big deal for being here in August. Dirty floor and coffee table. Spiders and other bugs. No shower soap provided. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good. Restaurant closed the 4 days I was there.
- Nancy (10/5): Overnight stay on our way to Banff - Wonderful hosts. Ivan made a delicious breakfast. We also had dinner there which was also very tasty. Will stay here again
- Dan (8/5): - Very unique place. Food at the restaurant there was amazing!
- Daman (2/5): - Please give me redund. I didnt live there. I had to book a hotel
- Tracy (10/5): - Loved the interior of the Manor House and the size of our rooms at the Air BNB. Host was super friendly and accommodating! Love the history of the place too!
- Martina (8/5): - Unique history. Very friendly owner and chef.propery is for sale and it seems its. Ecom ing too much for the elderly owner to keep up. They are super friendly and made up for everything lacking
- Ian (10/5): - Great historical location. Owner is amazing
- Pamela K (8/5): - This is a unique property. Accommodations were in the carriage house which was run down. Typical amenities like soap, shampoo, hairdryer, dish soap were missing. Furnishings were tired and could use a good cleaning. However, the Mansion where the owner lived and served breakfast was stunning. Breakfast was cooked to order and served to us. The mansion was built by the owner who had amazing skills in woodworking, carpentry wood finishing, and stain glass light fixtures. He had been involved in wood finishing work if the Latter Day Saint Cardston Temple and the Prince of Wales Hotel in the area. Exquisite handicraft. The B & B owner knew much about the history of the Manor and by loved to share its unique story of the recluse who built it with cobblestones from the creek. The history of the manor is a good reason to stay and redeemed my impression of the place and made me glad I chose to stay there. Make sure to bring some soap!
- J (10/5): Awesome experience! - A beautiful place to stay and learn about the incredible story behind the construction of Cobblestone Manor and other historic properties. The food is delicious, and the service is exceptional. This was our second time staying here, and we wouldn’t hesitate to come back again. The beds are very comfortable, and overall, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Highly recommended!
- Susan (2/5): Huge disappointment - Swapped out the rooms I booked, the rooms we got smelled of cat urine, mouse droppings on the floor, dirty bathroom. Was told no one would be upstairs, that changed at 1 am and the people upstairs kept us up all night. Breakfast was good... Only good thing about our stay
- Geary (10/5): - it was quaint, quiet, safe
- Abbey (4/5): - This place has so much potential but seems like they don’t want to actually make any changes to improve the units. First of all when we got there he never asked our names or checked who we were. He just let us in the unit without any sort of ID check or anything. The building has two units and we stayed in the main level with 2 bedrooms. Immediately walking in it did not look clean or well taken care of at all. One bathroom had dried on toothpaste from previous guests, the comforters on the beds were stained and the one had a large brown smear of something on it. There are carpets throughout but they look incredibly dirty and stained so much that neither of us walked on them without shoes on. The single beds in the one bedroom were not stable at all and when I initially laid down the frame itself swayed. Then overnight I was hearing mice above my head in the ceiling scurrying around and squeaking all night. There were mouse traps in the unit too. Then in the morning we walked over to the other building for breakfast and I don’t understand other reviewers saying the food was good because neither of us enjoyed it at all. I had pancakes and they tasted like the grill/pan hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. During that breakfast he decided to sit there and talk to us while we ate which normally wouldn’t be an issue except he ranted about all the people who have moved into town and was just being entirely racist the whole time. Property would be nicer if it was renovated a bit.
- Patricia (8/5): - Room was clean, convenient, quiet, the restaurant it was unique and beautiful really nice!
- Ramcharan (10/5): - It was a nice n historic place; we had a memorable stay
- Garry (8/5): - The property is a classic for its day but has become tired with time. It is priced accordingly. The host is excellent and made the experience worthwhile.
- Christina (10/5): - Absolutely enjoyed our stay here. Our Host was wonderful and the food was great.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We were traveling with our dog and were happy to find a pet friendly place to stay that was on our way. The accommodation was roomy and comfortable though a bit on the “tired” side. Breakfast in the Cobblestone Manor itself was delicious, and the manor itself is quite amazing in its craftsman style.
- Patrick (10/5): - The room was spacious, and having a sit-down breakfast in a unique, historically significant building was a real treat.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Do Not Stay Here! Horrible. Sleep in your car! - Worst place I’ve ever booked in my 50+ years of travel. The smell of cat urine is so strong your eyes n throat burn. The place is filthy. The outlets have burned spots. Towels have holes, no soap, mold visible on walls. We didn’t stay.
- Dan (8/5): - Friendly host. Safe.
- Michele (2/5): - Despite being excited to stay in this historic B&B, we ultimately were extremely disappointed. When first walking into the apartment, there is an overwhelming smell of cat urine which permeates through the entire place. The living room is carpeted which may be the source of the odorous smell. We found dirty footprints on the floor of the bathroom and even more concerning were the scorch marks on the multiple outlets in the bedrooms and living room. We decided not to stay for the 1 night and booked another accommodation.
- Erline F. (8/5): - This property was very unique; the architectural style was priceless. The owners/staff were very pleasant and willing to address any issues we had.
- Saiful (10/5): - The owner is an amazing person. Excellent service.
- Alice (4/5): - The suite was dirty and very dusty. I left my initials in the dust on the furniture. The smell of cat urine was overwhelming .
- Daniel (2/5): - Air conditioner did not work. Room was on second floor in July so heat was extraordinary. And they only had one fan for the entire place so we couldn't even put fans in each bedroom. No soap, shampoo or conditioner. Room was dirty. Could smell the mouse poison throughout. The same code was used on the door as every guest previously. The screen door would not shut fully and the door to the deck would not lock and the gate to the deck would not shut. Property certainly is in a state of disrepair. I don't write this review out of anger, just would like others to know what they are signing up for because had I known I would not have stayed here.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - My friend saw a mouse in his bed. The entrance has weird smell.
- Sarah (2/5): - Check in was super weird, a neighbor came and showed us to the room. This whole place smells like cat piss, the room we were suppose to have we don’t, which should’ve been communicated when we were switched, the fridge does not work, the tv and cable box worked intermittently, the remote looks sketchy, toiletries were laking. There are 3 outlets that have scorch marks. It has a super sketchy vibe about it in general.Broken rocking chair. We went and bought car air fresheners and a bag of popcorn to mask the smell, opened every window. Stained duvet. Bathrooms and sauna had mildew smell. A closet was main source for cat piss small but was all over. Beds are not good, the pillows are worse.
Breakfast was barely palatable, the sausages needed to be cooked longer but that’s fine compared to the eggs benny, that sauce was not hollandaise and it was maybe a teaspoon between the two eggs, which the cook had said he had to google how to make it when it was ordered. The restaurant did have a smell to it, not cat piss but like very mildewy, apparently it’s haunted. We got a mini history of it before the cook started cooking and then when he brought it out he sat there talking the whole time we ate.
That cook was also very racist talking about how all his Mexicans quit and he hasn’t hired the Philippino’s yet and philippino’s are slowly taking over the world.
Yard around property had overflowing garbage and needed major maintenance.
- Evgeniya (10/5): - We didn't realize this place is a historic site! Big and quite family suit. Restaurant is great. Breakfast is really tasty!
- Ashley (8/5): - This property now hold so many memories for me. I loved the stay and hope to comeback year after year
- Janis (8/5): - This property had a great accommodation with two bedrooms, sitting area and kitchen with fridge and microwave. The owner was nice. The property is very old and needs modernizing.
- Riley (8/5): - The rooms could use a little updating as the appliances in particular are quite dated. The room we stayed in was good and the breakfast was 10/10.
- Sheika Mae (2/5): - No AC. My family and I didn’t get to sleep until 1am when the temperature dropped. The owner said they have not turned on the AC this year. They asked us to just keep the windows slightly open. So just FYI to all those planning to book a room at this place. You will be the one to adjust as it will be an uncomfortable stay. The place also is dusty and has lots of cobwebs and bathroom sink has rust. The place needs some TLC. Ivan is the only running the place, I feel bad for him. I hope someone will buy his property and give it an upgrade.
- Wendy (10/5): - The property was clean and comfortable - very spacious. The host was very friendly, and he served amazing breakfasts.
- Charles (6/5): - The restaurant wasn't open but the breakfast was really good.
This is a historic property that is in need of an update.
- Candy (8/5): - Very quiet, friendly people,
- SMIT (10/5): - Was good
- Jeanne (10/5): - The owner was so gracious and gave us a tour of the historic property. He was also the cook, and the dishes he cooked were delicious.
- Chuo (10/5): - The owner is really nice person. He gave us a tour of the house and gave very in-depth explanations about the house’s interior design. The owner also owns a restaurant, but it’s only open on Friday and Saturday night. He cooked a really good breakfast for us. The only problem we encountered is that if you stay downstairs, there may be some creaking noise if there are guests staying on the upper floor.
- Christian (4/5): - The Cobblestone Manor has a lot of potential to be very good. It's a historic property sat on a large corner lot just a short walk from downtown Cardston. However, our experience at the property left a lot to be desired. While our check-in process was very accommodating and we were able to get situated 2 hours before our 4:00pm check-in time, upon moving our bags into the bottom landing area, it smelled strongly of cat urine. Upstairs, the space was simple with many basic amenities, though the bedrooms and high-touch/traffic areas appeared to be unclean. These included countertops, the shelves in the fridge, doorhandles, sink taps and the TV remote.
I ate in the restaurant for breakfast the following morning and while I appreciate the host's commitment to getting food out quickly, there was not any music playing in the dining room and I could hear him pushing the buttons on a microwave to prepare the Eggs Benedict, which was oddly served with mashed potatoes .. not what I would really consider a breakfast food. While it felt that the intent was to have a number of the properties historical artifacts showcased around the restaurant, what stood out more were the layers of dust, flies buzzing around and, unfortunately again, the pungent smell of cat urine.
The Cobblestone Manor is listed to be sold and I hope whoever purchases it chooses to spend some time decluttering and cleaning it as the property could certainly benefit from a little TLC.
- Daniel (4/5): - The place had such potential but was dirty food was left overs.
- Elizabeth (8/5): - The food was amazing but the rooms and property definitely need some love and attention.
- David (8/5): - It is a very unigue property and the proprietor very freimdly and helpful
- john (10/5): - Beautiful building. Great staff. Comfortable beds.
- Julie (4/5): - Ivan was lovely and the property on the outside is charming and has so much potential.
I don’t like writing negative reviews but the inside was unfortunately very disappointing. It was incredibly dirty from the carpets to how the property was maintained. We felt very uncomfortable in the property as there was junk outside in the yard, behind doors and honestly the entire suite and grounds are not well looked after.
- Teresa (8/5): Winter wonderland - This is a quaint and cozy little suite that gave us plenty of room for 3 of us while in town visiting family for Christmas. I loved the white lights on the gazebo and around the yard on a backdrop of newly fallen snow.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Love the historical component and story about how the Manor was built by hand. Ivan, the owner, is friendly and took us for a tour of the manor and relayed such deep knowledge about how this beautiful structure was created. Our suite was beyond our expectations, and Ivan made us a wonderful breakfast. Definitely recommend this place.
- Gail (10/5): - Very welcoming space. The owner is a nice man with a great sense of humour! I would stay again.
- Tomas (10/5): Excellent service and good value in Cardston - Excellent Bed and Breakfast with first-class service from the owner. He offered us a tasty, light dinner upon arrival, which was exactly what we were in need of. The breakfast was great as well. I definitely recommend travelers to stay at the Cobblestone Manor in case they need to overnight in the Cardston area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a very unique place to stay. Lots of interesting history and great food, our site has lots of room for the whole family
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It’s older, so don’t expect it to be all shiny & new but that’s why it’s so charming. It’s like stepping into a different era, and we really enjoyed that! The owners are so kind and gracious, and we really enjoyed our stay there!! Excellent staff, excellent food, excellent experience!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - We received an email the day before checkin saying they were double booked and we couldn't stay there. We had to make other arrangements. We won't be going back there.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - When we arrived at our confirmed reservation, they were double booked. They offered us to share our suite with another couple. Not acceptable. We stayed in a hotel in the town. They did offer us free breakfast which was good. The hotel in town said this has happened before. Had we shared our suite they would have made more money...makes you wonder how they get double booked more than once.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Poor condition. Old property, not in good repair. Check in was difficult. Breakfast was good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Overall Wonderful experience . Very relaxing stay. Friendly hosts. Great breakfast service and delicious buffet home made dinners.
- Richan (6/5): Needs a little TLC - I really wish I could say better things about this place. It is so cute but has fallen into disrepair. It was clean enough and breakfast was good. My young family did not enjoy this place like they typically do at new places we stay. It has a weird vibe for sure.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The owner made the stay memorable due to his sense of humour and cooking skills
- Marcie (6/5): - Considering the age of the property the BnB was ok. The draw for us was the Cobblestone Manor Restaurant, it is an intriguing historical building. Ivan the owner was very friendly and served a nice dinner buffet as well as a great breakfast.
- Sheila (10/5): - Nice historic property. Great food. Very comfortable beds.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Its old worn out and should be burned down. Don’t list it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was quaint, historic, and cozy. The lower unit had a dry sauna...fun!
- Evelyn (2/5): Dirty and freezing cold - The place was so dirty we did not stay. It only had little heaters with minus 30C outside. The place was freezing cold inside.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very old house. Like the hospitality.
Not that clean. Not good for family
- Jennifer (10/5): - We loved our visit the accommodations were great. enjoyed the breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This property is a heritage sight and its authenticity has been retained quite well. The owner was fabulous and it was a pleasure to stay in his establishment. Only complaint was the mattress was not really fabulous like the rest of our adventure back in time. The mattress was acceptable but not by much.:)
- Pokey (8/5): - Our host couldn't have done any more to make us feel welcome. Friendly and knowledgeable about the area with many suggestions of things to see and do. History of the manor and tour were fascinating. Our apartment was comfortable and homey. Only complaint was the shower in the master bedroom was tiny and adjusting water temperature was a nightmare. You could tell it had been remodeled but upgrades reflected unprofessional workmanship.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great food - Though the rooms were very old, we had a comfortable stay. The fresh and personalised food served for the breakfast was the highlight of our stay.
- Stephanie (10/5): - Exceeded our expectations. Staff went well above to make our stay enjoyable. If ever in the area, I wouldn’t stay anywhere else!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Owner served up a great breakfast in his unique restaurant. Close to a fabulous Carriage museum well worth seeing.
- CS (6/5): Canada Trip - It is tired and needs to be updated
- Merri-Ann (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay at this heritage building and plan to go back another time. The woodwork in the old ceilings in the restaurant are exquisite. Staff pleasant and helpful. The bed and breakfast rooms are showing their age, it is a very old building, but it was clean and the beds comfortable. We had eaten in the restaurant on previous visits to Cardston but never stayed overnight before. Another overnight will be on our list to do. We had the accessible room on the ground floor, two bedrooms, two bathrooms ( I could only get one shower to work), sitting area, kitchen table, mini fridge and microwave. Place settings for four. We enjoyed reading the book in the room, on the history of the building and the builder.
Merri-Ann
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Breakfast and service was great, but property was a little run down
- Verified traveler (8/5): very unique place. - this is a bed and breakfast. it is a heritage property and very interesting. the breakfast was very good.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Run-down bed and breakfast. - Rental unit appears to have been built by unskilled tradesmen. Needs a lot of repairs. Not super clean.
- JD (6/5): Rustic - This is a great place to stay provided you manage your expectations. Think of it as more of a rustic cottage and you’ll enjoy your stay as we did. We’ll likely return as it’s a much more character than a hotel room and lots of space. Scenic drive to Waterton.
- Hannah (10/5): Romantic Cobblestone Manor - Beautiful historic property in a quiet, friendly town. The property has a rather interesting history with amazing architecture. The owner, Ivan is very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed visiting with him and learning about the history of the place. Ivan also served scrumptious breakfasts!
