Lots of activates to do or just relax. The staff is great. The views are wonderful it's just a nice quiet place to stay and experience.

Steelines (4/5): Needs a major overhaul - The grounds are great but the rooms desperately need a remodel. Windows don’t open or just. The AC doesn’t cool the rooms as their equipment is faulty. They offered me 4 fans as the ac could get the room cool. The main front desk lady is aggressive to the point of arrogance, the food quite so so. Won’t be back.
Y532BIvirginiak (10/5): Honeymoon trip - My husband and I honeymooned in Tuscon and chose the all inclusive package stay at the ranch. The grounds were beautiful and the rustic atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. There was a slight mix up with a private ride we had scheduled, but the ranch’s response exceeded our expectations and we ended up having the best trail ride of our visit. I’ve been riding my whole life and my husband has limited riding experience. Although we weren’t able to fit in the more intensive rides this trip, we both had a fantastic time on our walk rides. The horses were well taken care of, well trained, and fun to learn about. The highlights of our activities were the trail rides, cowboy cookout, pickleball clinic and spa service. The dog house saloon became a favorite spot to grab drinks and play pool after dinner. We had a wonderful time and would recommend it to anyone looking for a mixture of relaxation, adventure and authenticity.

As she put it...this was a 9/10 vacation. We hope to go back next year. She loves all of the activities especially the riding lessons/rides, but also enjoys all of the associates and families that you meet.

Can't wait to go back. - The Tanque Verde Ranch provided memorable activities for all the members of our famiy, ages 9-69. We found the food to be very good, the rooms comfortable and clean. The grounds are beautiful to walk around and enjoy as the flora and fauna are very diverse. The children loved the "Wrangler" camp where they rode horses, make crafts and enjoyed the meeting other kids. The younger adults enjoyed the more challenging horseback riding experiences, the mountain biking, hikes and yoga. The seniors enjoyed the horseback walk/ride, photography walk, the bike ride as well as the night critter hike and birding. The food was surprisingly good and the staff very friendly, polite and eager to help when needed. We all enjoyed our stay and hope to go back.

The experience far exceeded my expectations. The accommodations, food, and activities were excellent, and I got to experience a lot of activities that I had either never done or had not done since childhood. There was something for everyone, and a great time was had by all.
PaulaGuntaur (10/5): Back to nature! - Had a really great experience at the ranch. The service across the board, from front desk to dining to all the activity guides, was so, so friendly. That really mattered since I was there alone, and I always felt welcomed. I took full advantage of the activities. Horseback sunset ride, jeep tour, two guided hikes, night critters crawl, birdwatching. It really made the whole experience. I went to bed tired every night, in the best way, and felt like I actually learned a lot about the desert. I have to say all of the guides, including the horseback riding team, were fantastic. But a special shout out to Danica for the crested Saguaro hike. She really went above and beyond to make it such a great experience. The room was great too. A little dark, but cool, and that is kind of the style. I loved sitting on my back patio just taking in the views. Overall, I was really happy with my stay! Even the guests were all a delight.

jacquelinevI7322KK (10/5): Luxury Ranch - The staff was incredibly professional and knowledgeable; they really made this stay top notch! There were plenty of opportunities to ride! The amenities were delight; even the towels were a 10/10! We had no trouble getting an Uber to and from the airport, but they do offer a shuttle. This place is a little pricey, but the personable staff and unexpected amenities really made the experience luxurious. We did not expect that a ranch would be so kid friendly, but many guests seem to be returning visitors spanning across three generations.
WanderThere2 (10/5): Awesome spring break! - We spent five horse-filled days at Tanque Verde for spring break. Despite the ranch being sold out for the week, I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the ranch did not feel overcrowded. That's probably because there are so many different activities that you and your family can choose from. We spent most of our time on rides. There are several different rides you can take. Our first one was the 1.5 hour ride. Many of the rides will take you into the mountains and over some fairly treacherous terrain. If you've never been on a horse before, this could definitely be intimidating. Both my daughter and I have English riding experience, but there's a big difference between a riding ring and a mountain! All of the 160 horses at the ranch are very sure-footed and have been on the trails a zillion times. They know what they're doing. However, if you are nervous, I would ask one of the wranglers. We also did a four-hour ride that was...a lot. It's four hours in the saddle, up and down some pretty steep inclines, switchbacks, and really narrow trails. We also did the intermediate horsemanship class in which you can work on trotting or loping. Trotting western is totally different from English posting...I wasn't really a fan, lol. And my horse wouldn't lope, even when I used a stick as a crop. He didn't care, and honestly, I don't blame him, lol. As far as the rest of the resort, it's fairly spread out. The dining hall where you eat all your meals was never crowded. You're supposed to make a reservation, and it was never a problem getting in when we wanted to. The food is hit and miss at best. You can either go to the buffet, or you can order from the menu (or both). We spent some time at the pool but be aware that the kids' club appears to let out around 3:00 or 3:30 because the pool (and hot tub) was pretty crowded around 4:00. I wish they had food and drink service around the pool, but they don't. We also spent time at the Doghouse Saloon for happy hour and views of the mountains. I really liked how the ranch is all-inclusive, and you don't have to worry about where you're going to eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner. And all of our activities were included.

nycchick01 (10/5): Holy grail of kids camps - first time my child has EVER told me I planned a “good” trip. Unlike other dude ranches, doesn’t require a 6 night stay. Staff have been friendly, location is gorgeous and my 11 year old boy has willingly gone to the kids camp every day which includes 1.5 hr of trail riding. No one pressured us to tip, but all the Venmo/zelle info was out if desired. kids can start riding here at age 7, but the kids camp goes younger. The hikes, mountain biking, roping 101, copper tooling, archery and BB guns have been great. No one was “condescending” to us, but we also did not try to pass the lope check either. Jacob at archery/bb guns particularly friendly, as was Danica for hiking. We saw javelinas, rattlesnakes, coyote, road runner, deer, cotton tail rabbits Tips: If you have a private riding lesson the kids will actually get a chance to trot/ lope. - they only have a set number of “all inclusive” they sell. Running the numbers it is 100% worth to do it if you do kids camp and the adults do trail riding (all included, otherwise à la carte).
FellowTraveler583253 (8/5): Great family camp/ranch experience - Beautiful ranch. Felt like a family camp experience. Tons for young families and little kids. Slightly less for teens. They take the lope check very seriously, which is great from a safety perspective. But it leaves very few options for intermediate riders looking for something more adventurous than a group walk ride. However, if you are looking for lessons to improve your riding skills, this is a great place for that. The spa is pretty nice. Food was great. The outdoor pool was overrun with little kids, which again, is great for young families. But there was nowhere for older teens or adults who wanted a quieter poolside experience. Hiking options are great - beautiful, well-maintained trails all around. Staff is really friendly and helpful.

The feedback they give you during lessons is so helpful, and you can tell they really enjoy working on the ranch. The facilities and landscaping are gorgeous. The food is just ok, not spectacular, but the atmosphere makes up for it. I just love everything about TVR and can't wait to go back!

The staff is excellent and friendly. The horseback riding is wonderful, with terrific wranglers to guide and teach. Evening programs we participated in included Bingo, a Magic Show, and stargazing. All terrific. We are already plotting our return to TVR!

Maesha (2/5): It’s not worth going on spring break for - If you are going for spring break, beware that the horseback rides get booked up. This will be our first time going to Tanque Verde and the main reason I booked was because we wanted to go horseback riding. I was told to book the parents riding with kiddos ride if we wanted to be able to ride with my kids to the breakfast spot. The activities reservation opens at midnight, Arizona time. We are on the east coast, so I woke up and logged in at 3am when the reservation site opened for that day (a week before). You have to reserve each activity at a time and fill out each person’s name, height, weight, etc. The website is not easy to maneuver on a phone, especially at 3am in the middle of the night. There were only two slots left available for the parents riding with kiddo’s breakfast ride at 3:10am so I put them in my cart but by the time I had entered in all the tedious details for the ride, the website kicked me out of the reservation because the slots had been completely booked up! To say that I am extremely disappointed is an understatement. This is the only time that we will be able to do a ride with our kids -they only offer this breakfast ride Sunday and Thursday mornings because they won’t let kids under 12 ride the other rides with parents. The only other family ride available is the sunset ride which you have to pay an extra $105 per person for. It’s inconceivable that I had to wake up at 3am just to book a ride with my kids and I wasn’t even able to book it within 15 minutes of the activities opening up! All the other breakfast rides were also booked up within 5 minutes of them opening up. I booked Tanque Verde for spring break because I thought there would be less to stress about at an all-inclusive. I was so wrong. It is beyond ridiculous that you have to wake up in the middle of the night to book activities a week ahead of time and still not be able to get the activity you want! I’m so over this place and we haven’t even gone yet.

Some of the negative reviews addressed noise between rooms and that is the only negative experience we encountered, and it was addressed by staff. Every interaction with the staff was fantastic. The Wranglers were all very professional and willing to help if needed. We are not "foodies" but the food was very satisfying and enjoyable. The views are amazing, you are basically staring at the National Park from every angle, not other hotels or houses. If you leave this place bored, then you didn't take part in the incredible number of activities available to you. We were just a couple but the families there seemed to enjoy all of the activities available for children also. We are already looking at next year!

N7502YOtodds (10/5): Beautiful relaxing ranch with a lot of charm and plenty to do - My wife and I visited Tanque Verde Ranch between 1/30 and 2/1/26. Temperatures in Michigan were subzero at the time of our departure, so the 65 and above weather in Tucson was a welcoming gift in and of itself. We stayed in a Desert Garden villa nearby the main lodge, which I'd classify as having a desert modernism style - it was very comfortable and much bigger than I had expected - two big rooms and a bath - a wood burning fire place in each room. Having the fire lit in the cool evening (by kind staff) really made the room feel homey. There are daily activities including horseback riding, biking, plenty of hiking trails, fishing, axe throwing, and many others. They provide an activity calendar of the days events. Out reservation did not include all activities, as we tend to like to just go off on our own exploring. Know that each activity will have each own cost. Each are quite an additional cost, so it may make sense for you to include that with your stay. I'd highly recommend the morning cactus walk. Both my wife and I really enjoyed this. Our guide, Jeff, was VERY knowledgeable about all the different plant life and animals. We learned about the Javelina, edible barrel cactus fruit, tons about the saguaro, and the unique smell of the creosote bush. Being from the cold northeast, this was a nice, relaxing morning walk. We loved seeing the ranch from high above at Scott's Knob. The ranch is within a comfortable walking distance to Saguaro National Park - Douglas Spring Trail, though we did not go there, I saw many cars. I'd never visited the Southwest, so for me this was an amazing oasis just to be present in. The trip dates coincided with the staff of Nickelodeon's Hey Dude (late 80s early 90s show) being onsite - which added to the alure for us. My suggested eatery outside of Ranch: Guadalajara's Mexican Grill (Prince Rd, Tucson) There is dining onsite at Carrillo Restaurant. We do want to go back - but I think it would take some incentive strictly due to the cost and trip distance. You can pretty much expect any activity or dinner on the ranch to run you $50+ per person.

DudeRanchDude (6/5): Nice Resort, there are better Ranch options - If you're looking for a Resort experience with some Ranch activities then this will likely be a nice experience for you. If you're looking for a Ranch experience with Resort amenities then there are likely better options. If you go here looking for a Ranch experience but have never been to another ranch then it will also likely be a nice experience. Like if you grow up in an area where the best pizza is Pizza Hut, you'll be happy with that and all is well. But if you are from Chicago, New York, or Detroit then you will have more elevated opinions on pizza and will rarely go to Pizza Hut. There are simply better Ranch experiences available (in Tucson too). But again, if Resort forward is what you prefer then you'll appreciate TVR. The landscaping was grand and beautiful with a wide variety of desert plants. We saw a roadrunner frolicking through the grounds. They also have an area with a hummingbird feeder that frequently had multiple hummingbirds flitting around. We stayed in two different rooms. They were very clean and spacious (including the bathrooms). One had a wood burning fireplace, which sounds nice but there was a constant smell of soot & ash with each breath, which isn't appealing to me especially when sleeping. The dining is a restaurant type experience (vs a more typical ranch experience that is more focused on being warm, communal, and still with good food) . They prefer guests to make reservations on OpenTable for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (vs a window of time for dining). The food was decent and dependable quality (except for the difficult to manage wilted lettuce in the salad bar). The saloon was nice. The bartender was very friendly. They have a couple TVs so you don't miss your hometown sports teams. The sunset from the saloon balcony was spectacular! We didn't do any of the spa activities but guests we talked to said they enjoyed the spa. The outdoor pool was very nice and has a small waterfall. They also have an indoor pool and a hot tub, which we didn't use. Two other "gotchas" or at least things to be prepared for are tipping and all-inclusive isn't actually all-inclusive. They have a tipping culture, like many resorts, so I felt like I was constantly handing out cash. The signs by the horse corral suggests tipping the wranglers. Often there were two wranglers on a ride so it was hard to know who to give it to and if they shared tips or not. Also, some of the activities, including some of the horse rides, cost extra even if you're on the all-inclusive plan. Regarding the horseback riding, at TVR the wranglers like horses and the horses seem well taken care of (but maybe a little older). They are also generally pleasant on the rides. In my experience, there is another level at other ranches where the wranglers love horses and thoroughly enjoy helping guests love horses too. At TVR the wranglers are far less into the western vibe with shirts and hats, and their tenure is much shorter than other ranches I've been to. It's more of a culture component that wouldn't be apparent for someone who hasn't been to other ranches so it might not be relevant to someone's enjoyment. Also, TVR is very particular about who they allow on their lope rides. Most are not allowed (based on how many test vs pass). A guest told me about a couple that loped all week at another ranch but then TVR wouldn't pass them on their lope check so they checked out a couple days early. Of course horseback riding has risks (which is why you sign a waiver) but it feels like TVR wants you to drive 35 in 55 MPH speed limit zone. If you only want to walk on the rides then this won't be a concern at all. The trails are beautiful (and we saw a bobcat and coyote). TVR seems consistently booked out so they are doing quite well with who they are as a Resort. We talked with many who say they go to TVR every year and love it because of the Resort aspects. But if you're looking for more of a Ranch forward experience then you likely want to look at others. We prefer the more authentic Ranch experience so we will not be going back.

ShelleyK202 (10/5): Great place in a magical location! - Our stay at TVR was mostly an excellent experience. The staff are friendly and do their best to make sure you are having a pleasant stay. There are many activities available in addition to the horseback riding, and the equestrian activities staff are knowledgeable and attentive to safety. The area, in the Sonoran desert, is truly magical and the ranch is right up against the Saguaro National Park, which multiple activities visit or approach - including horseback riding, mountain biking and hiking. The food is fine. I wouldn’t say it is the highlight - but some of the meals were quite good and it was varied enough for us over 4 nights and five days. The room we stayed in (Rincon Vista) was very spacious and comfortable - it is maybe the only time I can remember when a room seemed larger in person than it did in the pictures on line. The beds and shower were both great. Two relatively minor issues that both seem very fixable to me: 1) The communication around activities and meals - both signing up and/or reserving and whether and where things were happening was haphazard at best. The on line reservation process was unwieldy and inconsistent and there didn’t seem to be any authoritative sources of information about what was going on. It took a couple days to figure out that we kind of needed to be aggressive about acquiring information and couldn’t rely on it being provided. Once things were under way they were uniformly well done. It was just the planning and logistics that left something to be desired. 2) The tipping policy is very confusing and should probably be clearly stated up front. Because they make some of their activities and meals available to the general public, every meal has charges and a bill even if you are on an inclusive plan. And it is not clear if you should be tipping like you would in a restaurant (ie 20% of the bill) or like you would at a typical all-inclusive resort (ie a few dollars or more for excellent service), particularly since most meals have at least a significant buffet component. This may seem like a small thing, but the meal charge are not small and the difference between 20% and $10 a meal could easily be hundreds of dollars. It should be clear up front what is reasonably expected. One last positive thing - we ended up meeting and becoming friendly with many people who were staying there. The activities and the saloon lend themselves to socializing with other groups if you so choose, and we really enjoyed what was almost a family-camp style atmosphere. All in all a fantastic place that we hope to return to!
Blucollar (4/5): Disappointing experience - My wife and I, brother, sister in law, and niece booked a sunset ride and cookout for December 27th. My wife and I were visiting from Florida. My brother's family have been Tucson residents for over a decade. My brother recommended the ride. He and his family stayed at the ranch twice. He has ridden every ride offered by the ranch. I booked our ride on his recommendation. The ranch was very impressive, and the countryside is beautiful. After we mounted our preselected horses, a young woman wrangler took her time and patiently explained the nuances of basic riding, adjusted my stirrups, and answered any questions I had. I wish I had caught her name, because she was exceptional. Unfortunately, my wife had a wrangler who just went through the motions. Didn't give her the time and attention she needed to prepare for the ride. Another wrangler was rude to my sister, who was taking pictures. She was in no way impeding the wranglers, but still got berated. I personally loved the ride. I was given a gentle, responsive horse that could have made the ride with or without me on its back. It wanted to eat every time we stopped, but a gentle pull on the reins was all that was required to discourage him. The scenery was beautiful. I was behind the lead wrangler. He was engaging, funny, and extremely informative. I'm sure he'd heard questions similar to mine a hundred times, but he was still an engaging gentleman. During the ride, our wrangler decided to extend it. My wife's horse, being used to turning on a trail to the stables, started heading in that direction. My wife, who had no riding experience, was struggling to turn the horse. Our wrangler shouted directions at her, then rode back to assist her. His demeanor was insulting and patronizing, to say the least. Shouting at a senior citizen, male or female, accomplishes nothing, other than to rattle the rider and embarrass them. It also reflects poorly on the wrangler, who, as the supposed leader, should demonstrate a calm, professional demeanor, rather than lose his cool like a petulant teenager. My wife finally retorted, "You know, I've never done this. I'm not a pro". Needless to say, our respect for man dropped. Once we reached the overlook, we wanted to take pics, but the wrangler said we only had two minutes, and obviously wanted to move on. After the ride ended, our family shared our experiences and opinions of the ride. My niece said the wrangler had been rude to her, as well, and my brother was not impressed with his demeanor. My personal experience was great. I enjoyed conversing with our wrangler, who, at one point, told me he had been in the saddle for six hours. That's a long time, and I understand how hard these folks work. But you know what? You're in the customer service industry folks. When you advertise on your website how friendly and professionally you treat your clients, live up to it. Neophyte riders are just that. If you don't want to take the time to prepare them, then verbally berate and embarass them in front of not only family, but strangers, you're not only doing them a disservice, you're conducting yourselves like condescending jerks, not professionals. You're more than happy to take our money, but don't want to waste time with "amateurs". If that's the case, make riding experience a prerequisite, and spare the rest of the patronizing, half baked effort, when all we're looking for is a rewarding experience. I don't care if you're tired or cranky because it was a long day. Our family is made up of retired career law enforcement officers. Long days, nights, fatigue are part of the job. Abusing someone verbally or insulting people, tired or not, was unacceptable. Worse, unprofessional. Those who couldn't get that, got cut loose. It's sad, because people spend good money for a rewarding, entertaining experience. One that your ranch promises on their site. But if you don't walk the walk, don't talk the talk. My brother told me he was so disappointed, this was his last ride at Tanqueverde. This from a man who rode every trail ride you offered, and stayed twice at your ranch. He praised your business prior to this experience. His impression is you have sadly gone downhill since then when it comes to customer service. Even though I personally had a great experience, we won't be back, nor would I recommend this business to friends or family. A little courtesy and patience doesn't cost anybody a dime. Maybe some of your employees don't get that concept, but you might want to remind them that word of mouth is the best advetisement. Unfortunately, that doesn't apply here. More's the pity.

When my wife walked in to our rooms, her jaw dropped -- such a great setup, plenty of space, clean and well put together. The kids loved kids camp, getting to work with and ride the horses. I had a chance to ride several different ways -- walking horse ride, penning (a game of riding horses to herd cows into pens), horsemanship lesson (learning to ride better and hit the faster gaits), and mountain biking. Each experience was better than the last. The staff are all very friendly and attentive, thinking of things before you ask and getting everything just so, such warm hospitality making us and our kids feel welcome and part of the family.

Wifi is adequate - coverage is good, but speed is a bit lackluster. The loping check seems a bit... subjective. We witnessed highly qualified riders get rejected while newbies got through. Those are the only two negative points I can offer. The staff, food, rooms, setting, hikes, and everything else are phenomenal. My company did a retreat here, and we would do it again without question.

The wrangler staff are SO helpful, friendly, & accommodating, the horses are well trained and (for the most part) eager to do a good job for you! Our group is experienced horsewomen of all disciplines, and we always enjoy the riding, but beginners are equally well accommodated and safely. Rooms are so comfortable with beautiful views of the saguaro-studded desert, the food is delicious and nutritious (plus yummy treats), and if you’re tired of riding, the activities are fun, or you can just chill by/in the pool or hot tub. The staff is wonderful! I can’t wait to come back next year!!

marina852018 (10/5): Amazing Stay - We had such a great time at Tanque Verde Ranch. The views, the lodging, and the food were all amazing, and the horses are extremely well taken care of. The staff overall was wonderful and made the stay really comfortable. The only thing I want to be honest about is that I wish the wranglers had been a bit friendlier. Some of them had a little bit of an attitude, which took away from the experience just a tiny bit. Aside from that, everything else was fantastic. The pool area is beautiful, and there’s such a good variety of activities — yoga, rides, hikes, biking, you name it. One thing I wish they offered is some live music or a bonfire in the evenings, just something to make the nights feel a bit more special. I completely fell in love with one of the horses, Scotch — he was my little ranch crush. Overall, I would absolutely return and can highly recommend the ranch with just a couple of small suggestions for improvement.

Be warned...even if you're a seasoned rider, it doesn't automatically mean you will pass the lope test. I suggest taking it twice, and if you don't pass, let it go and enjoy your vacation. Also, you don't get the same horse for your whole visit.
megggs44 (10/5): #1 staycation for tucsonans - Wow, I’m a local tucsonan and had no idea this place existed. I can’t wait to come back for another staycation! I felt so fancy and loved my stay so much! I went specifically for the Halloween in the cottonwoods and it was such an awesome experience. They had a huge cookout and the food was delicious. There was a headless horseman people could take photos with and live music that had everyone dancing! Very family friendly and all the kids were dressed in their costumes and candy bags were given out as you checked into the event.

If I could suggest one thing, it would be to include more vegetable options. We loved all the activities, especially the horse-related ones—both the horsemanship lessons and the walking rides. The room wasn't large, but we understand that since there are plenty of activities around the ranch, we wouldn't want to spend too much time in there. It would be great if the bathroom had a renovation, and the water pressure was a bit low—after a day out, we were really looking forward to a nice shower. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. We had a lot of fun at the ranch and would definitely come back again.
22mollies (2/5): It’s about them not you - If your are going to have a good experience horseback riding choose another ranch. Horses seemed to be healthy and well cared for. In order to participate in rides with trotting and loping you must pass a test which requires you meet a number of riding postures that they deem acceptable (one style only). This may divide families and cause anxiety to even the most experienced riders. Food was good, facilities are nice.
BARThomson (10/5): Amazing family ranch experience! - Amazing family experience. The horse riding is super legit. The ranch is beautifully kept, the rooms are comfortable and clean, and the food is great. The instructors were all lovely, we had a great time riding, mountain biking, playing pickle ball and tennis. Team penning was an awesome experience and my family members loved the horsemanship lessons! The kids generally enjoyed the kids club but did get a bit bored, tired and hot through the day. We came to get them each day to take a break and go swimming with us. Breakfast was amazing with the most incredible selection of food and fresh fruit/berries daily. The cookout and breakfast rides were absolute must dos. The food was incredible and the atmosphere they create at both were just unbeatable! The grounds, rooms, and experiences all exceeded my expectations. I will note that the online activity booking is quite tedious, although you can book for up to 3 additional "guests" you can't make profiles for each family member that stay present and list their activities. Also, if you do a la cart, (which was a significantly better deal and perfect for our family with a toddler and grandparents who wouldn't make use of all activities and meals), the bill at the end is super confusing (not labeled with correct activity names) and they were honestly quite rude to us about it. Despite these frustrations, our time at the ranch was great and thank you to all the staff and instructors!

We underscheled our time here and wish we had more time to experience the huge array of things to do on the ranch. We did do the early photo hike with Janys and loved it. Informative and very beautiful. Groundss are beautiful with a nice bar on site. We do plan to come back as we needed at least another day or two to properly experience this resort.

M5570FFaw (10/5): Full circle - I can’t say enough about how special Tanque Verde Ranch is. I first visited here as a child with my dad. It was my most memorable vacation as a child. Coming back as an adult and bringing my own children was an incredible full-circle experience. The ranch has a way of blending adventure, relaxation, and community all in one place. The staff are welcoming and make you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. The activities—whether it’s horseback riding, mountain biking, nature hikes, or simply enjoying the Arizona sunsets—are unforgettable. Meals are excellent, and the atmosphere feels warm and inviting rather than touristy. What stood out most is how many guests we met who were repeat visitors. That says so much about the quality of the experience and the lasting memories people carry with them. It truly feels like a place you’ll want to return to year after year.
Roam54728105850 (10/5): Resort Hope Restored - No shmoozing here... they rock. Personalities, facilities, activities, the environment (went in September)... everything. This resorts does what most maybe wish resorts would do; They deliver on the resort hope! Surprisingly amazing food, solid drinks, and more activities than can be chosen, you'll likely want to return, or at minimum not be disappointed. Suffice to say, I highly recommend!

From the kids program to seeing javelinas and scorpions to dancing together under the stars at the cowboy cookout, i hope it's a place we can go for many more years. Not a typical dude ranch -- this is a real, authentic place with history and people who care so much.

You'll love Tanque Verde as much as we did :) - We visited to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday with our two girls (6 and 4) and did the all inclusive package. We had the most memorable, fun time! The accommodations were spacious and clean (we stayed in Javalina Heights), the food was excellent and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. Our girls participated in the kid's club for all 3 days where they went horseback riding, made slime, colored, played on the playground, etc. When it was time for pick up, they didn't want to leave! We felt very comfortable with the staff watching them. My husband and I loved all the adult activities offered. We did 2 horsemanship lessons to hone our skills on how to ride (we even learned how to gallop! (or lope as they called it)), we did walking horseback rides every morning, mountain biked on a fun and challenging course with a guide, we even tried our hand at team penning where you are on horseback and try to work as a team to corral cows into a pen. After our activities, we'd chill by the pool or get in the hot tub before picking up our girls from kid's club. Do the breakfast ride and the cowboy cookout if they offer those during your stay. Two of our favorite activities! Book your activities in advance. Annette is at dinner each night to confirm/make any changes to your activity reservations for the next day.

The staff were incredible and we had a wonderful horse back ride. There isn't a think negative you could say about this place. A perfect get away for friends and family.

veronicacK9511PR (2/5): Horrible - I called to make reservations told employee i had a certificate i was transferred 3 x before someone could help then i was given a room way below the value of my certificate and had to call back and request a different room note not one apology was given Dinner was ok food cold and lots of fly's... breakfast took 1hour and 15 minutes to get no apology again just kept getting ignored no refills when we got food if was ok.
katherinewb (10/5): Absolute gem - What a gem! We took our two boys (10 and 12 years old) on a last minute booking before school starts and I wasn’t sure what to expect. We took advantage of the BB guns, sunset horseback riding, mountain rappelling, mountain biking, silversmithing, copper tooling and the pool. I loved that there were no TVs, and that the kids enjoyed every activity. I booked a 2 bedroom suite, and it was huge, rustic and immaculate. It was perfect. We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 days here but really needed another day or 2 to try everything. Shout out to Josh and Chloe who we got to ride bikes with (Josh was also at the BB guns) and who were both a pleasure. Michael was our driver to/from the ranch/airport and he was also just amazing and so kind. Highly recommend the 3rd party vendor who handles the rappelling/canyoneering; Ben was incredible with kids and adults alike. I would definitely return.

David (10/5): Luxury next to nature - Top notch resort, even out of season (summer in AZ). Access to the beauty and wildlife of the desert is first-rate. Saw my first gila monster after 20 years in AZ, lots of lizards, javelinas, great hiking, etc. Friendly desk crew and restaurant servers, excellent kitchen.

Stephen (10/5): - I was last at Tanque Verde 46 years ago. What can I say, still has that old western charm about the place. The staff are second to none, absolutely brilliant, so friendly. Nothing is to much trouble for them. I chose July, but it's very hot. ( My fault) When the number of guests goes below 50, there is no longer a buffet option at meal times. So lucky there where over 50 ladies, who come every year for quilting. There are so many activities to do and to choose from, as I said just a little to hot for me and my nephew. It was fantastic to go back to the Tanque Verde after so many years. I would recommend trying the ranch lifestyle, but not in the hotter months as far to hot for most people. I will definitely go back.
