Guest Reviews
- Glenn (9/5): -
- Michelle (8/5): - Great resort with lots of facilities, close to shops, great restaurant and bar
- Sally (8/5): Enjoyed our stay, great location, friendly staff helpful staff. - Clean and comfortable Very dated
- Robert (3/5): So very disappointing! - That it had a view of a golf course That we were in an unrenivated studio apartment, that we did not know and were not told that it was waiting to be renovated. The bathroom had to be seen to be believed. When I was cleaning my stuff from the refrigerator I found 2 stalks of asparagus that had been left from last visitor. It was sold to us as a 1 bedroom apartment, but even on short stays no housekeeping to the room. We own time share and our rooms are serviced and cleaned daily.
Had lunch at the restaurant, not many people in there, but my husband had to ask staff to clear the table to make room for us to have coffee. We would have been better off in a motel in Devonport.
- Jordan (7/5): Nice - Pool and golf course, restaurant equipment and bike hire Game room facilities do not work and coins purchased had no use. No sign on coin purchase machine that games don't work and to beware.
- Malcolm (10/5): -
- Anita (9/5): Great value for money! Fantastic place for a young family to visit - Great for kids The meal at the restaurant
- Tara (6/5): Would stay again if things were upgraded staff were great kind and cheerful - Pool n bbq areas The rooms didn't have air-conditioning
The bed kept moving around
little out dated
no lifts
One of the pools didn't look cleaned on the edges and had boarding up around it might be getting work done also didn't mention anywhere on how deep it was the other pool area was to warm bit hard to breathe
Being a resort you would think you could get room service
maybe on school holidays they could organise better lay out for people who have children as the person under me was rude saying my child was to loud and was disturbing her arvo I was on holiday by myself with my son who has gdd and dosnt understand how to be quiet at times but tryed my hardest to keep him carm
Carpark bays were small and hard to move
Did like the fact I missed placed my key card didn't even realise till I left and the gentleman said oh here you left this behind last night and returned it to me lucky as would have had to drive a hour back to get it 🙃 😅
- Genevieve (7/5): - Located in a peaceful location on golf course and close to beach No air conditioning
- A (8/5): I Will be back again - The Bottle shop was perfect 😁 Exiting the shower over the bath tub is a potential trip hazard
- grant (10/5): -
- Anne (10/5): Enjoyed our stay.we’ll be back - Right on the golf course Ageing. Needs update
- Ruth (8/5): Wonderful stay, very happy staff. - Ground floor near pool. Coded entry. Stroll to dinner. The menu needs the Greek dish back on it permanently like in 2024. The steak sandwich was good too. I have mobility problems. Getting in and out of the pool was hard. It would be good to add another rail that was at least 1 metre wide to the other rail. The pool needs to be 1-2* warmer. And the spa also needs 2 rails.
- Vern (7/5): The housekeepers are always very friendly and lovely to talk to. -
- Thomas (8/5): -
- Chelsea (7/5): Good - Facilities (pool, spa, BBQ, basketball court, games room, billiards room). No air conditioning, missing bedding
- Peter (8/5): - no
- Jodie (8/5): Very good -
- Patina (9/5): Superb - Loved the room, we had a three day stay in an apartment over in the newer part. It looked like it had recently been refurbished? Great place to get away for the Australia Day weekend, lots to do.
- Trudi (8/5): Very good -
- Reynold (6/5): - The property was close to the beach and shopping centre. 80s Decor has not been modernized and kitchen floor was filthy. When I walked into the room, there was a musty smell, and when I asked for a umbrella, I was told to go to town and buy one. There is no aircon in the room.
- James (10/5): - How close it was to that beautiful beach easy driving distance to the national parks and beautiful coastline.
Worked out great for me and my family.
We’ll definitely come back and stay there maybe get around to golfing this time. Thanks again, Jimmy.
- Clare (8/5): Clean rooms and good value for money. - Value for money and cleanliness. Very hard and uncomfortable beds .
- Alana (6/5): Pleasant - The pool ,spa ,sauna Beds where very uncomfortable, kitchen and bathroom needs a update .
- Patina (6/5): Pleasant -
- Philippe (7/5): Overall a good stay but the property is a bit old and needs to be upgraded - Location next to the golf course. Property was not very clean.
- Mcghee (8/5): Very good -
- Karl (9/5): Superb - Very helpful staff and friendly.
- Francine (9/5): Superb - Beautiful location right on the golf course
- Tayarne (7/5): Good - Room was neat and tidy. Stayed for a week and had no room service. Spa was out of order the whole time and so was the pool most of our stay. Power went out for a whole day. No one bothered to come and tell us or apologise for the inconvenience. I’m pregnant so I had to throw stuff out of my fridge as I can’t risk eating it. When asked for a little reimbursement I was told I should have had travel insurance to claim anything.
Over charged for our room. Our friends stayed 3 nights and paid $30 a night cheaper. Refused to refund me the difference for our 7 night stay after reception said they would when we left as we booked through booking.com.
- John (8/5): - Spa broken down in the swimming pool area
- Ben (9/5): Superb -
- Helena (9/5): A lovely winter stay at a great location! - Staff were friendly & very helpful, location ideal and very central in the region. Our room was comfortable as were the beds. The guest laundry was a great addition.
- John (8/5): About 12 visit by us. We keep coming back -
- Jeremy (10/5): - Great for a family.
- Tayla (8/5): Very good -
- Janet (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jodie (8/5): Very good -
- Philip (8/5): Very good -
- Vern (9/5): Just a lovely place, it's my go to place, set in a lovely little village! - Iit is just a relaxing place and an easy drive to get there. Was offered help with my case because of the stairs. Will go back in the new year. I didn't expect the studio apartment to have a stove top and all cooking utensils. Was a pleasant surprise. Nothing really.............
- Melissa (8/5): Good, spacious, relaxing..we will come.again. - The fairway units are great That we couldn't use our time-share week, we had to bank that and pay as a member of the public
- Bruce (9/5): Superb -
- Grant (10/5): - Everything is kept so clean & tidy Excellent facilities. Friendly staff. Great meal
Had a great time. See you again soon
- Janine (8/5): - Overall the property needs a refurb, especially the cafeteria style dining area - unwelcoming and cold - still stuck in the 60's
- Emily (9/5): Had a great time, will book again - Pools and tennis court was great, everything was clean and the staff were friendly and accommodating. Apartment was a bit dated
- Belinda (6/5): - The soundproofing between floors was really bad. We heard everything from upstairs.
- Reddick (8/5): Very good - It's a great facility with kids. Rooms are very dated
- Vern (9/5): very relaxing, food in the restaurant was great, and staff were lovely.. - No breakfast but loved the peace and quiet.......every thing was close by...staff were lovely. The apartment was very spacious and I loved the full size fridge. Sofa couch and chair were not very comfortable, and the shower over the bath was difficult for me at my age. but certainly will not deter us for future visits.
- Teresa (7/5): Great if you have children or go with the grandkids. - The heated swimming pools ,basketball court and the restaurant were all great. There was no air conditioning and a little run down in places
- Tim (10/5): probably the best place we’ve stayed so far in Tassy. can totally recommend. even for a week long holiday. just loved it - it was big it was comfortable. well equipped. almost luxurious nothing
- Judy (10/5): - Fabulous family-friendly place. Plenty of things to do. Great place to unwind and relax
- 27 (9/5): Superb -
- Cassandra (5/5): Passable -
- Alana (8/5): - Nice place to stay although a little outdated. Would definitely stay again
- Susan (8/5): Very good - location
- Carmel (7/5): Good -
- Greg (7/5): nice place to stay, close to everything needed - covered pool, large bbq areas, close to shops rooms were fairly rundown, no aircon
- tony (10/5): our getaway - room was clean and tidy ,the bed was a bit hard but ok , the room lacked air conditioning nice views of the golf course and sea in the distance , nice free bbq area and pool we enjoyed our stay
- Vicki (10/5): was in a refurbished studio - was very nice , staff were fabulous - everything was great nothing all great
- Lyn (8/5): Very good -
- Danielle (10/5): - Enjoyed the pool, spa and sauna, views from room and balcony, games room and close to the beach.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great views over the golf course. Sunrise very pretty. Heated swimming pool, spa, & sauna. Pizzas looked good but order before 4pm or not available. Meals from the adjoining resteraunt really good but again best to reserve a table even in the middle of winter. Good place to explore the area.
- Aspasia (8/5): Chill and calm - While the rooms need an update, SHEARWATER Resort has all you need for a chill, calm and stressless stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We enjoyed all the facilities at the resort. The pool area was lovely and clean. The 2 sized tennis courts were also fun to use.
The early closing time of reception (5pm) and any bookings was unexpected. However the late check in arrangements were well set up.
- paula (10/5): Relaxing Stay at Shearwater Resort - Accommodation is ideal for a family getaway with an indoor pool, tennis court and within walking distance to the beach and supermarket. Across the road is a nice fish n chip.
- sandie (8/5): Comfortable and clean and meals very good. - Was fine no complaints. Central location not too far from beach.
- Relles (4/5): Disappointing - Unfortunately we were incredibly disappointed with this resort. The room was in desperate need of renovations, with cupboard doors hanging off, mouldy grout in the bathroom and old, stained furniture. The beds were reasonably comfortable but considering it was sold to us as a 2 bedroom room for 6 people, you would think we would have had enough furniture to all sit at the same time.
The staff were unhelpful at best and in one case, just plain rude. Perhaps in need of training in HOSPITALITY.
Although we were led to believe that there were 2 pools, we discovered after checking in that we were only able to access one of them, although the people staying in the other block could use both (not sure why)
This place was overpriced and a bit depressing.
Disappointing end to a wonderful Tasmanian holiday.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The resort had lots of activities for our three children to enjoy - especially the pool/spa area. I found the resort very child friendly and the restaurant served great meals.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - rooms very very stuffy - need ceiling fans as air doesn't circulate
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great spot for a relaxing holiday. - Everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Bathroom needs upgrading, but was clean. Comfy bed. Great price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice view of golf course - Good location. Nice meal at bistro.
Cool dragster bikes available for free!
Room OK. Toilet ran constantly and sheets "bally" but otherwise good.
Whole complex looks a little tired and needs a refurb.
Most of staff friendly and helpful.
Kitchen staff very helpful with function we had there!
Recommended.
- Heath (10/5): Great place to stay - The best place in Tasmania to stay with the kids. Everything you need is close by and beach is amazing.
- Fer (10/5): Clean and spacious - We thoroughly enjoyed our two day stay. First night in 2 bedroom apartment we had 6 adults and a baby. Cot was arranged and high chair also offered which was handy. The room with a single bunk and a single bed had so much floor space we could have fitted another rollaway bed and not used the sofa bed at all (in retrospect).
Great to have the facilities of the bistro and pools so close and lovely having windows and outdoor space looking over the golf course. Not as private or safe for toddler as a balcony (we were downstairs) but much more roomy..
The one negative would be that the walls between the units are not sound proof. From our bedrooms we could pretty much hear every word of the people in the adjoining apartment.. fortunately they didn't stay up too much later and we had an end apartment so only an issue on one side.
- jeremy (8/5): Spacious rooms - We liked the space. Room for our children to play inside our on the grass out front.
Good value apartment
- Harold (4/5): Could be good, but tired - Some parts of the resort are VERY tired. Other parts eg GYM are bot available
- Wendy (6/5): Comfortable but needs upgrading! - Four adults in a 2 bedroom apartment. Balcony overlooking golf course was great.
No air-conditioning so had to go to reception for a fan. When the one & half toilet rolls ran out we asked for more but were told we would have to buy them. Room information book needs updating as we went to use the pool but times on the pool gate are different to the book which is what most guests would read first. Overall good stay but these few incidents marred our stay slightly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Close to all facilities - Nice and relaxing love the swimming pool would have preferred to stay on lower level next time maybe .
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location close to the beach - Great place to stay, well equipped apartments. Some renovations happening so were not able to access the pool in the part of the resort we were staying in however we were notified of this prior to arrival. Supermarkets close by and food in the restaurant was great
- Anne Maree (4/5): Not Really a "Resort" - Website states the "resort" overlooks a golf course, we were overlooking a supermarket car park which was really disappointing. There are 2 indoor pools onsite and one was closed for repairs (since October apparently). This meant the other pool was overcrowded which was also disappointing.
- Phil (8/5): Family friendly - A terrific spot to stay, and a comfortable and family-friendly resort.
- fiona (8/5): Perfect for families - We had a lovely time, room was great, there were more beds than expected, so handy having our own kitchen especially with children, I think we used the pool facility at least 1-2 times per day, close to shops & beaches
- April (4/5): Terrible - Dirty, outdated room. No air conditioning. As soon as we opened the door to the apartment all we could smell was stale alcohol.
Rang reception to advise & we were told someone would come with a plug in air freshener - but it would take 3 hours as no one from maintenance was available! What pathetic service - any other hotel would send someone from reception!
The room wasn't cleaned properly, there was layers of grease & dust all over the appliances. The TOILET was still dirty. The towels were so old a couple had holes in them & they were so rough!
The balcony was unusable due to water leaking down from the balcony above us - you could see in the structural beams that they were starting to rot away from water leakage.
Reception not available after 5pm, pretty disappointing when you have problems and need to get in touch with them.
Definitely not worth the money, it may have some facilities similar to a proper resort but the state of the room & indifferent attitude of staff are massive turn offs. Just a run down hotel really.
- Graeme (8/5): Lovely setting in lovely little village - great relaxing time in a relaxing setting - just the time and space we needed
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Extremely friendly staff- we were well looked after
- Verified traveler (8/5): Disappointed for the price! - For $190 per night, wasn't impressed with the room - ground level facing the car park and a fence. A lot of empty rooms facing the golf course with balconies, could have placed us in one of them. Disappointed
- Verified traveler (8/5): Well priced & handy to beach - Overall enjoyed the stay.
Rooms need updated but comfortable & clean.
Reception needs to be proactive around meals...if bistro is busy there is little else close by.
- mel (10/5): Great location and facilities - All you need on site, pools, activities and entertainment, very peaceful, very enjoyable experience, would go back again
- Karen (10/5): Shearwater resort simply stunning - Very pleasant receptionists. Very well kept grounds and golf course.
Excellent Spa Sauna and swimming pools. Very well equipped apartments.
Wonderful venue from which to explore the magnificent North West Coast and visit some fantastic wineries
- Verified traveler (10/5): Exceeded expectations - The cleanest apartment we have ever stayed in. Excellent value. They were well organised for our after hours check in (and it all went smoothly). Meals at the resort are varied, tasty and well presented. Walk across the road to shops. Ideally peaceful and only 20mins from Devonport. Worth the trip here and we would certainly stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent view of the golf course. - Had a great stay close to golf corse, ,shops eateries hotel for nice meals, of course the beaches.
- B&S (8/5): Apartment at Shearwater Resort was a nice stay. - Suggestions for improvement: Wall Clock, Free Wi-Fi, More Toilet Paper & Room/Towel/Bed linen Cleaning service twice a week. Kid safe sliding doors.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointing break away - Had to view 3 rooms before we found a suitable room. Was walked in on by housekeeping whilst in the shower. pillows were like rocks, no frying pan and had to wash all drinking glasses as there were dirty.
Disappointing dinner in their restaurant steak was over cooked and port cutlet was under cooked, and they stop cooking meals 8.00pm
- tania (8/5): home away from home - The kids enjoyed the warm flooring in the Unit. The TV in there room, also the warm indoor pool!
The bike riding and the tennis was enjoyable by all!
