- Francis (8/5): Good location for a fishing vacation. - No breakfast available. Coffee maker in the room worked well. Plenty of hot water in the bathroom sink and shower. Easy check in. Great views from the room. Quiet and well soundproofed. Parking very convenient. TV didn’t have any signal, tried everything as instructed, but not a big deal. My room did have a serious ant problem that should be corrected.

- Madeline (10/5): - Cozy space with large windows and plenty of natural light. The in-room keurig coffee was perfect after a long cold day outside, and the bed was comfortable. The fly shop was not open, but I think it was the off season.
- Brian (9/5): - Super easy to find and get to, just 4 minutes from whiteface, and 10 minutes to Wilmington. A nice quiet and peaceful location away from the hustle and bustle of Lake Placid. The rooms have been updated recently, everything seemed nice and new which I was not expecting for such a good rate. Everything about the property was better than I would have expected for the rate I paid. But little things like nicer pillows and more regular snow plowing would have taken things to the next level.

- Marcin (9/5): - Excellent resort & a great price! Location is PERFECT, only about 2min. from Whiteface Mountain. Perfect place if You plan to ski!!!. The room was pretty big, pretty clean, and had a fridge and a coffee maker. Rooms are locked with electronic keypad. You get your Key# e-mailed to you upon arrival so you can just walk right in. They let us do an early check in :-). The property is very nice, and rooms have a nice view on Whiteface Mountain. There is also a nice restaurant on-site, however it is not open on a daily basis so check before You arrive. There is bunch of nice restaurants/bars in the center of Wilmington you can explore (about 4min. drive from the resort). You can also swing by to Lake Placid (about 17min. drive) for more food options. For the price & location, We would definitely stay again at this resort for our next ski trip!. (keep in mind though, if You're looking for a 5-Star Hotel/resort, Hungry Trout Resort may not be for You).

The river was beautiful and view of mountains on the drive to and from was spectacular. The hotel room was no where near clean. It seemed like I didn't get was was described to me when I booked online. The photos made the rooms seem better, and like they had a kitchenette, which mine did not.

Staff was very disorganized and non attentive. Old food in the cupboard and the stove in the room only worked on medium, not hot enough to boil water.

The room stinks, my luggage smells now. The beds were uncomfortable. One of the lights didn’t work most of the time I was there. No one was at the front desk, and when I called for assistance with my lock nobody picked up. When you close the bathroom door behind it was filthy. I wanted to plug my phone charger in, I looked behind the bed for a outlet in the dust was an inch thick. The lamps for stained. The curtains were disgusting dirty. Outside my room there was bugs and webs hanging from the door and windows. I understand I’m in the mountains, but frankly I feel I paid for the area not the room.

- Olena (7/5): - The hotel is in a great location. There is a very good restaurant nearby. I had a room with 2 queen beds, it is great value for money. In my room, some plastic part was broken outside near the window, and on the last night there was a strong wind outside, so I could hardly sleep because something was constantly hitting the window. But that doesn't make this hotel bad, I hope the owners can fix it.

- Rafael (4/5): NOT GOOd - close to White Face Resort nobady to talk to if need anything dirty room no fridge in the rrom the floor in the bathroom was puping out Hit was not working well the room samell bad high price for a cheap hotel the retaurant is one of the most expensive at the whole area. I had to drive 10 miles every day to get some to eat for my kids and, there is no place to storage a milk or any food at the hotel. bed sheets were dirty terrible experience

We didnt have time to fish on this trip but we wanted to just look around inside. It said on Google it was open but maybe it was closed for the season and it wasn't updated.

- Danielle (7/5): I’d stay there again! - Staff are always VERY friendly. Loved the contactless check in. The bed was amazingly comfortable! Overall the room was pretty clean, although the carpets desperately need to be cleaned because my socks were black after walking around without shoes! Also, the blanket on the bed smelled very strongly of mildew. I had to take it off the bed and replace it with the spare blanket in the closet. The pillow cases were so wrinkled it made it look like someone had been sleeping in the bed before our arrival. The room is very outdated. But the bathroom was very clean and the bed was REALLY comfortable! Great location and staff. Despite the bedding issue and dirty carpet, I’d stay there there again!

- Kevin (10/5): - Very easy check-in process. Good room at a good price. Super comfy bed. Had a great time at the Hungry Trouble Tavern next door. The staff was fantastic.
- Michelle (8/5): - This is an older property like a lot of the small hotels in this area, so it is dated, but very well maintained, cleaned and has all that you need for an enjoyable stay. The location was fantastic. My only negative comment is the beds were horribly hard and uncomfortable. And unfortunately after long days of hiking you need a comfortable bed to sleep in. But balanced with the price, I would definitely stay here again and just bring a mattress topper with me.

I called the hotel and explained the circumstances and they refused to grant my cancellation and completely charged me the full amount for the room I felt that this is very poor With no understanding about things are out of your control. Very poor customer service.

- Arjun (2/5): - Hungry Trout Resort is definitely overrated. There’s no microwave in the room, no lunch service available, and WiFi connectivity is poor – expect frequent drops. The room lamps didn’t work properly, making the stay inconvenient. Despite being advertised as a resort, it feels more like an average motel that shouldn’t cost more than $70–$75 per night. The furniture is outdated, and yes, you might even spot spider webs in the room corners. The photos online are misleading – while it promises a mountain view, 50% of it is blocked by trees, so don’t expect a clear scenic experience.
- Michelle (6/5): - Did not receive daily housekeeping. Asked for clean towels did get 2 bath towels and was told someone would bring us hand towels and face clothes which we did not receive. Had to get our own coffee for the following morning from the office. Cleaning products were very overpowering…. Anyone with sensitivities would not do well. On a positive note the beds were comfortable. We did not feel comfortable here so we left a day early.
- Diane (8/5): - Nice clean room, comfy bed, good shower, nice pool & swings. Pillows were hard. Grounds were more rustic than the website photos. River was far away. It was not a “patio room,” just a small bench by the parking space. Not “mountain view,” just grass and trees. Restaurant was closed. But good price and ok location. Nice owner.
