Guest Reviews
- J1431RWdougm (10/5): Highly recomend - Very friendly staff, clean room at a very reasonable rate. Close to everything we need (Tim hortons directly across the street) but far enough from the downtown noise. l highly recomend this location. We are staying 6 nights and this is our second time staying here. Great privacy and we feel very welcomed.
- Stay560563 (10/5): Spotlessly clean room, very friendly and helpful operators, good location. - Spotlessly clean room, very friendly and helpful operators, short drive to scenic downtown in one direction and shopping malls in the other. Room was spacious with two comfy queen beds, kitchen area with sink, fridge, and barhroom had a really nice strong shower in the tub. It is a basic older motel but the family owning and operating it keep it really clean. If you are looking for basic accommodation with friendly, helpful owner operators in a good location, this place is great. We would stay here again while in Kingston.
- Graydon (10/5): Pleasant Surprise - Great budget-conscious hotel. Clean
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Owner very helpful and accomodating. The room was clean and the furniture was fairly new. The air conditioner worked well. Could have used a little coffee machine to make coffee in the morning, but on the whole the experience was pleasant.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Ca ete un tres beau sejour à l’hotel Ambassy car le personnel était très gentil, et très bon service aussi!
- Patrick (10/5): Good value for money - Worked well as a place to stay on the 401 between Montreal and Toronto. Pretty much what I'd expect in this price range. Friendly staff!
- Sharlene (10/5): Very nice - Nice and clean. Manger friendly. Nice to have a chair outside and watch the rabbits. However I got eaten alive by something. Ok restaurant down the road. Would stay again
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great value and very friendly owner! Would come back again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good inexpensive clean motel. No frills, a bit dated ('80s), but comfortable and a good value. Great for a pit stop and in a very good location; across from Tim's and next to A&W, on Princess St.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel is well priced and clean. Staff very friendly. Thanks
- khouloudbassi (10/5): Excellent Motel !!!!! - Travelling from Montreal to Toronto, I spent Two nights with my husband, very cozy and clean place, nice staff always listening to the customer with a very big smile, good price. I highly recommend Embassy motel !!!
- I5657ADdavids (10/5): Amazjng Find at Amazing Price! - We were moving from Cambridge to the Ottawa area and stopped at Kingston for the night after getting packed up by our mover. We had seen reviews of the Embassy on Trip Advisor and there wasn't a bad one! It sounded too good to be true, but the price was right and so we decided that we could "tough it out" if not up to our standards. It turned out to be an older motel on the old "main route," Highway 2, but easily found and quite visible. When the owner heard that there were just two of us and we simply wanted a little more room (hence, two queen beds), he gave us the same price as a single queen ($10 less). The unit was roomy and spotlessly clean. It was older, but well kept, and the bathroom was large, with a sink area adjacent as well as within. The beds were very comfortable and there was a good TV. We spent a very relaxing night. Should we ever have cause to stay overnight again in Kingston, we'll head for the Embassy--a great night's lodging at a most reasonable price!
- Sean (10/5): Good motel at reasonable price - This was a nice and convenient place to stay in Kingston. No fault with the room, which was spacious, clean and comfortable. The owner was really kind and friendly, and gave us good advice on what to do in the area
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff was great! Very helpful and friendly, and they spoke perfect English which I appreciated as a non French speaker. Highly recommend.
- Douglas (8/5): Embassy motel in Kingston ON - This was an older motel and was showing a few signs of it age, but everything was clean and well-maintained and the staff were helpful and friendly. No coffee-maker in our room but several food options within walking distance -- including a Tim's across the street! Not so close to attractions (except for Sir John A.'s grave) but easy drive to downtown.
- Randi (10/5): Very comfortable and clean - This clean, comfortable hotel surprised us with the congeniality of the office staff and the size and quality of the room.
- ParkAddict (10/5): Sparkling clean and everything worked - We spent one night in this motel, and we were pleasantly surprised by its workability. The room was spotlessly clean and larger than we expected from a budget hotel, with a big area including the bathroom, an extra sink and closet space. It was conveniently located in a mercantile district, and the clerk (owner?) provided lots of information about where to find restaurants and what to do while we were there. All in all, it was an excellent experience.
- AK_Mtl (10/5): Clean and Very Accomodating - We had a bad experience with another motel on the same street so we had to find alternative accommodations for our brief stay in Kingston. The manager of this motel was incredibly super welcoming especially after we told him our situation with the other motel. He made what could have turned out to be a disastrous brief stay in Kingston get right back on track. The room was clean and simple.
- wei (10/5): Comfortable for a day or two - Check in was fast service was good the staff were polite and knowledgable about the area .i found the room was spotless although definitely not luxurious would stay there again
- Barry and Julie (8/5): Nice but dated! - Great price, very clean, could stand some updates....still 70's style, nice to park in front of our room...fridge was a pleasant surprise....bathroom was clean...air conditioner worked great....comfortable bed....great overnight spot....would definitely go back when we visit Kingston...oh, and Timmy's is right across the road😊
- ellenklhui (8/5): Very clean little motel - We needed a place for a short one night stay in Kingston and booked Embassy Motel after checking out some reviews. The place was simple, basic but very clean and it didn't disappoint us at all. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was on a main street but very quiet in the night and we slept well. No breakfast provided but we couldn't expect that at the rate they charged us. There's a Tim Horton right across and a few places for breakfast a few minutes drive from the Motel. I will recommend this place if you just need a clean and comfortable room for a night or two.
- TorontoLisaLee (6/5): Clean and Comfy for short stay - We traveled from Toronto to Kingston to tour the penitentiary. We just wanted somewhere clean and comfortable to lay our heads after we explored the city. Prior to traveling, we checked the critter registry and Embassy Hotel was NOT on it! Yay!! The room was very clean and had a mini fridge and air conditioning. It's an older motel and pretty basic. There are a couple of chairs outside of each room where you can sit and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Although it's on a busy street, the rooms are far enough away from the road that you're not bothered by the traffic. Grounds are well maintained and a bunny rabbit frolics on the grass. Rooms have a flat screen TV and offer free wifi. No bathroom supplies are provided but we don't expect this at an economy motel. You can purchase bottled water, pop and ice in the office. Timmy's and Shopper's Drug Mart are right across the street. Next door, Smitty's pancake house offers awesome breakfasts and Jiffy's (across the street) has great lunches and dinners. Both restaurants are a little on the pricey side but worth it. The family that runs this motel is awesome! Polite, helpful and very respectful. Only suggestion for this place is that the screen door hinges on the units could use a little WD40. If you're just looking for temporary, clean, friendly and affordable lodging, we'd recommend Embassy Motel. We enjoyed our stay and would stay here again.
- U3256OAkathyd (6/5): Old but clean. - The room we had was small but nicely decorated and clean. Nice bathroom and closet area as well as a work station with hi-speed internet. There was a small table with 2 chairs and a fridge. We thought there was a microwave but there wasn't one there, nor was there a coffee maker. There was only some small soaps in the bathroom. We didn't ask as we had all our own toiletries. The bed was OK but the pillows could have been bigger or maybe one or two more. There were places for breakfast very close by. I was surprised at how quiet it was in the room.
- Tami225 (6/5): Super Clean!! - Not knowing anything about this place other than it was a 'motel 😣' we stayed there last night as it was THE last place with rooms available (other than maybe at the dives). We were super pleased to find that the room was seriously spotless - YAY!!!!! The staff was terrific too- friendly and efficient. As far as amenities- not so much...a fridge....no coffee maker but a Timmys across the street...a small flat screen tv...free WiFi. Furniture - practical- not plush. There was air conditioning. Looks like maybe they have recently done some replacement of carpet and bedspread/curtains.
Only complaint - bed was not comfortable and pillows were flat.
While it wouldn't be our first choice, we would not be afraid to stay there again if we had to.
- Old-Grapes (8/5): Clean, Clean, Clean ! - Yes it is an older property and yes it is very basic but as many other reviews state it is very clean ! No extras such as shampoo, hair dryer or coffee machine but a very reasonable price for an overnight stay when passing through.
- judy4246 (8/5): The Embassy is very clean. For us it is close to our relatives home and the rate allows us to visit often. - It is a family run motel-----therefore it is more personal. On our first visit I requested additional towels and for the last 2 years they have been in our room on arrival. We usually get the same room . And the refrigerator is an added plus. The location is not downtown but there are plazas and good restaurants close by.....,. location is easy to find and no where in town is very far,
- E8858FOmikew (10/5): Got lucky - We were traveling on our way to Maine and we decided to stay in Kingston without a reservation. Unlucky for us this was the weekend the college moved in. We tried five other hotels with no luck. Luckily we got the last room here. The owner who checked us in was extremely friendly and recommended many places to eat and places to avoid. The room is pretty basic but, very clean. I highly recommend this place if traveling thru the area.
- H.P (6/5): Friendly but noisy - Friendly and cooperative staff BUT the room is close to a busy road, and one can hear its noise as well as of people next door . There is practically almost no noise insulation .
The room should be upgraded. Quite a large one (2 beds) but quite dated.
- Marty (10/5): Exceptional Value - This motel I believe must be the best deal in town. This is a basic motel room but the room was immaculate and nicely painted and the carpet appeared new. Two chairs outside at the walkway under a roof for relaxing outside. We prefer the motel setting for a road trip as our vehicle was right outside our door. So easy to load and unload. In the past, I have sometimes felt that in a motel I sacrifice cleanliness compared to a big hotel, but this definitely was not the case.
There are numerous restaurants close by and a Tim Horton's right across the street.
This is a family run motel and we were treated with the most kindness and helpfulness we have ever experienced. We will definitely stay at this motel on our next trip to Kingston and will recommend it to family and friends.
- azo49008 (10/5): Basic, no-frills, and sparkling clean - We just needed a place to rest our heads overnight on our roadtrip to Ottawa. Found this on Booking.com and the reviews were favorable. It is bare bones basic but it is clean, clean, clean! In a nondescript area with a Tim Hortons across the road. Quiet, clean and a personable manager. Also liked that it is a no pets allowed place.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Clean but dated - It was clean but the hotel is quite old.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Arrivée tardive, nous avons été très bien reçus. Accès facile. Chambre propre et semble avoir été rénovée de bonne façon.
J'y retournerais sans problème.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good clean hotel. Friendly and courteous staff. The room was very clean.
- jnyoung1959 (10/5): Clean and nice - The one who runs the place is nice and accommodating and very helpful and their rooms are clean and they clean it everyday, stayed there for a week and seeing it myself on how they do it so it's highly recommended for people who wants to look for a clean place to stay
- mahmoudk811 (10/5): Clean, quiet, comfortable and friendly - I spent one night at this motel with one friend of mine. both of us were completely satisfied with the room, its cleanliness and comfortability, and services. The manager of the hotel was a very nice guy. Also, staff were so friendly and helpful. In addition, they don't charge you for a bottle of water, hot water or some extra appliances, etc.
- vagabond_dreams (8/5): Clean, friendly, good value - Moving our son into his university house took longer than anticipated and we found ourselves needing a place to lay our heads at 10:30 at night. The Embassy Motel was perfect - clean, comfortable, friendly, quiet, easy to find, and inexpensive. Great value!
- lislar91 (10/5): Best value! - The other posts are all correct, this is the best value for your dollar. While the decor is dated, this motel is immaculately maintained. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The motel is conveniently located a few minutes south of the 401. It's quiet because you can't hear the highway traffic. Being on a major artery (top end, so again, little traffic noise), it's easy to get to anywhere else in Kingston you wish to go. Located across the street are a Tim Horton's and a Shoppers Drug Mart. Free wifi.
Stay here. You'll be glad you did.
- littlemisszippy (8/5): Spotless and friendly - We arrived to a fully booked Kingston without a reservation...the Best Western very kindly let us know this motel had vacancies.
Room was spotless throughout and staff super friendly and polite. Perfect for a night's rest when you've been on the road before you head off again. And there is even a Tim Horton's opposite for breakfast. Enough said!
- Natuur (8/5): Nice if old fashioned motel - We were in this motel on the night of Canada Day, the 1st of July. The welcome was warm and helpful as our Visa didn’t work properly, but this was not a problem for the friendly man who gave us the key and some information about visiting the centre of Kingston to have a good view on the firework that night. He was interested in the soccer game we wanted to see, Belgium-USA.
We had enough space for the three of us: 2 adults and 1 teenager. The beds sleep very well, but everything, really everything looks old fashioned. Clean but old fashioned, sometimes in a funny way. In the room is a kitchenette with a microwave we didn’t use. The AC worked fine although it was a really hot day.
In the morning we had our own breakfast on a picnic table in the grass in front of the room. Unfortunately the coffee machine in the lobby didn’t work, but another man and his wife brought us spontaneously a pot of tea and they were very friendly.
So, for the one night we spent here, it was perfect as we were only there to sleep over.
