Guest Reviews
- Larry (8/5): - There was a group of 10/12 people that were loud and stayed up until 3 am
- Jan (8/5): - The property is very nice, food is good and the service is excellent. Our cabana is ready to be remodeled, it has a lot of wear and tear, the mattress should also be replaced.
- Craig (10/5): Wonderful get-away!! - El Cielito was literally a breath of fresh air from the crowded “tourism scene” in the area. If you are looking for a relaxing, beautiful and affordable location for your next vacation, this is exactly what you are looking for. Staff were all amazing and the accommodations were superb. We will definitely return…often!!
- Robert (8/5): - The views are spectacular, especially if you get a room ocean view. Beach you can walk for miles. Food and drinks are very good.
- Michelle (10/5): Awesome - Awesome grounds, setting, and pool. Friendly staff Good food. An wonderful place to relax, swim, and stroll the beach. We will be back
- Bruce (10/5): Simply Magnifico - Paradise! Lovely small resort with friendly, helpful and attentive staff. This is rural Mexico and most staff speak little English. The rooms are clean and comfortable with hot water showers. Nice pool, amazing views, good food both for the included breakfast and purchased dinners. You can walk miles on this relatively secluded beach but swimming is NOT recommended due to strong surf and currents. Abundant birds and aquatic life. We saw whales and dolphins daily! There is minimal light pollution here making for magnificent night skies.
The drive here from Puerto Vallarta is more than 2 hours due to traffic congestion, speedbumps and potholes but the destination is well worth the effort. Taking the bus is possible but would be challenging. We have traveled extensively in Mexico both on and off the beaten path. This hidden gem has won a place in my heart and I can hardly wait to return!
- Sylvain (10/5): - Wow beau site tranquille
- Mayra Gabriela (10/5): -
- Marie Theres (8/5): - I would like to recommend that each cabana has a small
bar fridge to keep personal items cold. Thank you
- Janel (8/5): - A beautiful place to get away from it all - even the wifi barely works. We had the luxury of being the only guests at the hotel for the night we stayed. Unfortunately, they put us in one of the 2 cabanas with no ac, so it was a little uncomfortable overnight, and the room needs some work. We toured the other units though and they were pristine and updated.
Lovely staff and the view from the pool is amazing!
Don’t go if you are looking for a party, or an ocean swim, (The waves are rough), but if you need somewhere to escape for a few days this is for you.
- Kevin (8/5): Hidden Paradise. - Stayed here many times. Always a relaxing time. Beautiful location.
- Gerard (6/5): Great place but not for me!!! - Great people and great hotel. The downside is really obvious: three hour tough drive from Vallarta, the last five miles on a dirt road before nothing: nothing to north or south.
We left a day early…. Simply too tooo remote. Beach is amazing, but too dangerous for a swim. Hence empty. Nice pool, but I’m a swimmer.
If you want total isolation and one menu to eat from, this is a great place. Bring friends and books.
- Crystal (10/5): - Clean comfortable Casitas on an amazing beach. Staff is helpful and kind. Suites are amazing. Grounds are well kept.
They even lit a bonfire for us on the beach and brought us marshmallows ♡
We love it every time we come.
- Kevin (10/5): So relaxing. - Such a great little spot to relax away from the tourist hoards . Deserted beach. Infinity pool. Friendly staff. Great breakfast.
- Carolina (10/5): - EXCELENTE
- Nidia Karen Castillón (10/5): - Excelente lugar y excelente servicio
- Mark (10/5): - Mucho Bueno
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Me encantó!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is very nice and quiet.
- Tammy (10/5): Weekend family getaway - Love this property! The view is outstanding. We loved hanging by the pool and watching the sunset. There is a restaurant on site and the food is great overall. It’s very quite at night and the ac worked excellent in our room. Only complaint is that one of our beds was harder than we would have liked.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A million dollar view, good food, great value, nice people. This is not a 5 star.
- CN (10/5): - Staff were great. Especially Christian, Julie, Manuel and cooks. They took care of our family's (husband, wife and 2 kids) vegetarian needs quite nicely. The location is unmatched. Turtle show was unique. Love our vacation at this property.
- Nick (8/5): - My stay was very delightful. The food was good as well as the service. The room were clean and comfortable. I would definitely return there.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - A lovely lush property above a long sandy deserted beach! Friendly staff, great food and drinks that are affordable. A secluded spot perfect for stargazing. It was worth the drive for sure!
- Amelia (10/5): Nice Weekend Getaway Place - Nice place very remote. rooms are pretty good. its best as a romantic getaway!
We missed the turtle season, so we were bummed but otherwise an amazing place to escape Puerto Vallarta for a weekend!
Hotels.com made a mistake and did not send our reservation to them so we lost our two separate rooms but they were great and even thought the hotel was fully booked, some how squeezed our group of 4 into one large cabin!
- Darryl (6/5): nice infinity pool - Its a very nice place to stay to get away from vallarta for a few days. The staff were friendly and helpful. There are a mix of families, couples and kids. If you are looking for just quiet time, then this might not be the place for couples. Very beautiful grounds.
- María (10/5): Peaceful, quiet, beautiful - Planining to go back , unforgetable ,the staff very helpful, activities available
- Joel (10/5): Little piece of paradise. - Wonderful 2 weeks spent at Cabanas El Cielito. The staff was fantastic. They tried their best to provide everything we needed during our stay, even though our Spanish was very limited. A very special thanks to Fatima in the restaurant/bar for going above and beyond in helping us (she helped so much with the language). The food was excellent. All the staff was helpful and was always smiling. Beautiful piece of property.
- MC (10/5): Beautiful and quiet - Cielito is about 2.5 hrs from PVR - we arrived in the late afternoon and paid for a private transfer. It was pricey but convenient. There were conflicting reviews on the road, but it seemed fine to us - paved most of the way, and the last part was dirt with some potholes. Not bad at all. I probably would rent a car if we go again. They had us down for 2 rooms and we had a bit of trouble communicating. There was one employee who spoke English very well, and everyone else that we encountered did not speak any English. My husband speaks a bit of Spanish so we were able to fumble through. Wifi was only working during the day, and no cell service at all. The ocean was ROUGH - the waves were so loud at night that it kept me awake. The beds were very hard but not uncomfortable. The room was fairly clean - we weren't expecting spotless but hoped for generally clean and that's what it was. The sheets and towels weren't changed at all while we were there (4 nights). It would have been nice to have fresh towels. The pool deck was nice and quiet during the week but Sat/Sun was pretty busy (relative to the size). Pool could use some repairs but they cleaned it regularly. Food was decent. Not a lot of variety but it was good. Overall a good experience if you want to relax and get away from it all.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The location is incredible! The servers speak little to no English, which can pose some difficulty in ordering food or arranging a massage. But the meals that come out of that little kitchen are tasty, and the vibe here is truly laid back.
- Heather (10/5): Fantastic place with wonderful and helpful staff. - I wound recommend this place to anyone. It has a beautiful beach that goes for miles in front of hotel. Staff are very helpful and were very kind when I wasn't feeling well. Staff do there best to make it a special holiday with lots of recommendations of day trips. My room faced the ocean which was beautiful. Pool very clean and had a beautiful view of the beach. Got to experience releasing turtles in front of our place. Only issue was the showers that did not always have hot water. This place is not the Hilton but even better if you like Rustic.
- jeffrey and JoJ (10/5): Very Remote - A great place to stay that is away from EVERYTHING. The staff was very accommodating. The restaurant was great and the food very good. The small bungalows are very spacious overlooking the ocean
- Melanie (10/5): Peaceful, beautiful remote location - The drive was worth it! We drove in from PVR following Google maps which we wouldn't recommend. Get directions from the property before you go if you aren't familiar with the area. Most of the ride was fine, though slow and we live in the US so it was definitely different. However, the last 18km Google took us on a dirt road surrounded with lush vegetation - fully isolated.
We fell asleep to crashing waves, we walked on the beach, alone, no one else on the beach. We watched the sunset from the infinity pool. It is rustic but a great way to decompress.
- Max (8/5): Beautiful, quiet getaway - If you've come to cabanas, you've most likely come to get away from it all. This hotel is about 2.5hrs south of Puerto vallarta, and if you've rented a car it's quite difficult to drive to mainly due to the bad conditions of the roads, which are dirt much of the time. I rented a small car, not knowing is have to be on bumpy dirt roads. I probably should have got a heftier vehicle. Once arriving at the cabanas, the staff speaks no English. Make sure you brush up on your Spanish skills. The staff was extremely friendly though, all females, and they were also great cooks. All the food is delicious (shrimp tacos especially). The view from the hotel is insane. Beautiful. An infinity pool overlooks the beach. The beach itself is not swims ble though due to the ferocious waves that crash right on the shore line. You're liable to be swept away or smacked by a wave of you get too deep. There's a river along one side of the cabanas which you can kayak along. They also breed turtles right there on the beach so I helped dig up about 80 hatched turtles then released them into the ocean. The wifi signal is very weak and about half of the time it doesn't work at all. There is no cell service around there whatsoever. The pools are nice but the hot tub is not heated and the pool should probably be cleaned more often. If you are someone who is used to being more pampered by bigger resort style hotels then this place may not be for you. No air conditioning in the room. I loved it though.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Best place to relax... - It was a long rough road to get there but it was all worth it. Everybody was so nice and food and drinks are amazing. I would definitely come back to this place and forgot to mention you can kayak 24/7 if you want for free. There was a calm water for that with lots of fish and crabs and you can enjoy the waves if the Pacific as well then unwind at night in the warm infinity pool. Perfect getaway!
- Oscar Leal (8/5): Nice hotel away from civilization - If you're looking for something more nature-related, this is the perfect place. Away from the noisy cities and close to the nature. The food is excelent, the beach is a little bit dangerous, more surf oriented, but nearby there are beaches where people can actually swim. The hammocks are a very nice touch of the cabins. Nature related also means more contact with local animals and insects, there are a lot of crabs and lizards. The sound of the sea is strong, because of the big waves and the sunsets are amazing.
Nearby (10-15 minute drive) you can go to Tehuamixtle and Mayto beaches, if you are fortunate enough to see the love beach, you'll be amazed.
