The free shuttle was handy to get into Ubud city and drivers were always very prompt. The pool is lovely and the gardens are so peaceful. We stayed with our 5 month old baby and felt very safe/happy.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Wonderful Stay - Now, Ubad Retreat Ubud has been building a new house in front of exsiting rooms. The accommodators have to pass through the narrow path or through the construction site until about this February. Once I entered into the previous site, I could have a comfort and tranquil stay there except two points. First, a stray dog stays at the site of restaurant, sometimes scratching their body when accommodators were having meals. By her scratching, some fleas could spread out, therefore, I think it isn't favourable in terms of keeping sanitation properly. Second, I feel that mosquito coils to is not enough to set in the evening. Even though I put my body on the repellent, I have been bitten by some mosquitos while I was having dinner at the restaurant site. Overall, I could have a wonderful stay, relaxing a room (better to set a desk for studying), swimming, and having breakfast and dinner, especially Nasi Campur and black rice pudding. Thanks for providing me with a good opportunity to stay in a quiet atmosphere and with warm hospitality by all staffs!!!

I am writing this to say that i had an a amazing time at UBAD RETREAT RESORT gusti and his family are an amazing people , on arrival you can clearly see a new additional biukding going up along with a restuarant and pool which wihile talking to Gusti is lookjng at next year April or May 2020 which is going to so beautiful to see again as this new part and already there part towards the back combine are going to be amazing. Also just for people out there that are thinking that they think they might be distubed by noise this is not the case here they are so repectful of peoples hoildays . While there Gusti and family found out that a couple ie the Female was her birthday so they started singing happy birthday to her she was so blowen away and unexpexted it . This is just how you are looked after. The bedrooms next to none the best and to be honest the bed was the best really comfty out of my whole trip to bali this was the best ... Cant wait to see you again Gusti as i said its going to be sooner than we think hahaha . • ROBERTA (10/5): MERAVIGLIOSO!!!! - Siamo state benissimo, accolte e coccolate come in una vera famiglia. Il posto è meraviglioso e si respira un'aria di pace e amore. Il cibo è superlativo e non saremmo mai volute andare via. Lo consigliamo assolutamente!!!!
• Verified traveler (10/5): - It was so different to anywhere we had stayed before and despite its rural location we really enjoyed our stay here. The place offers scooter hire which made it so easy to get around. The hotel organised other transport for us when needed and the local taxi drivers we had were great! The rooms were spacious, tidy and the beds were comfy. The food was so fresh and really good, we ate both breakfast and evening meal here throughout our stay. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
• Choon (8/5): Quiet inexpensive friendly place - Too far from the airport. I like the fact that they had a shuttle running to Ubad city center three times a day. Just to have a inexpensive place to sleep, okay for the money.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Far from city center,bugs and cockroaches at night - Ubad Retreat is far from city center more or less 15 minute drive, but they offer free shuttle of 4 times a day to and from city center in a certain time and location of drop off and pick up. The staff can barely understand English except for the manager or owner. The place is spacious but more bugs at night in the room especially in the bathroom. Our first night at Ubad Retreat was a nightmare when the bathroom has dozens of cockroaches! Limited dishes in their menu, it would get you sick thinking what to eat if you stayed more than 3 days. No restaurants nearby, inaccessible and inconvenient to go to city center. They should offer more choices of food in their menu. The place is best for honeymooners or if you want confinement...but definitely NOT for youngsters, hipsters, beach buddies, party goers and adventure seeker.

You can rent bike at the retreat which is berth convienent give its remoteness to main city streets. The staff will arrange for local tours if requested and gave me good references for food and general travel. The place was quiet for most of the time I was , not many people and you need a bike to move around , main streets are 10 min away by motor bike.

• Guray (2/5): Hostile and substandard. - We booked Ubad retreat on the positive reviews it received in the past. On arrival, we were greeted by Gusti and all seemed well. Soon after, he left the building and unfortunately, that is where it all ended. On entering our “double delux” room which we booked and payed for 4 people including daily breakfast, (2 adults and 2 children), we were advised by the male personal that the room only catered for 1 double bed and single bed. We were told that an extra bed was an additional daily charge. He continued by also asking us to pay an extra daily breakfast charge for one of our young daughters, whom we had clearly payed for upfront, through Hotels.com. I advised him that my hardcopy and electronic booking did not support his claims for the additional charges. This attendees aggressive mannerisms towards my family and I warranted us to contact Hotels.com immediately, who in turn assisted us to move on to another hotel, minus a day’s room payment. We were happy with the support given and are now enjoying our stay in Bali.
• Nisha (8/5): A homely stay with the greatest of hosts and staff - We first arrived in the airport to be greeted by the pickup driver with a warm welcome and cold bottled water for us which was lovely. We got to the hotel to meet our host, I presume was the manager and he had prepared is fresh fruit juice. Our room was very well presented, clean and tidy throughout. The occasional bug getting in however. It had good facilities such as strong air con, flat screen TV, WiFi, tea and coffee. We did find ourselves waking up in the night occasionally by the sound of animals nearby which was frustrating. The room had very good lighting and had comfortable beds. The shower was good for a while but if a second person was going to use it afterwards then the chances are that the shower would run cold. The breakfast provided was enjoyable and was similar to other eaterys nearby. The menu for mains and dinners wasn't vast however it was very affordable and did not lack in flavour.
• Andrew (10/5): - This hotel is a lovely family run business where everyone cares for your experience whilst there. Breakfast is a la carte but this means everything is made to order and very fresh. The room could do with a fresh paint but had a good sized bathroom and decent AC. This hotel is very peaceful.
• Jelena (10/5): A family owned oasis - Thank you for everything you did! From the first day you made me feel at home, welcomed and very well cared for. I booked Ubad Retreat as recommended by the conference I was attending as a less expensive option. Just a thought that I couldn’t have ended up at some chain hotel or anything less personable than The Ubad Retreat is makes me thankful even more to the family that ownes this place. I will return for sure !
• Simon (10/5): Ubad is Ugood - This little hideaway was just perfect for a quiet few days away from the bustle of Udbud, with a free shuttle into the town,the rooms are clean and tidy, the pool welcoming and Adi and staff were very friendly, we would definitely stay here again.

The best part of the stay was the people who work there. They are warm, pleasant, and go the extra mile to ensure a good experience. I would definately recommend Ubad Retreat!!
• Gemma (10/5): Fantastic stay. Extremely good value - We loved Rhian place! Addi and his family’s made our stay so homeley, they even brought me a lemongrass and gingerbread tea when I was feeling sick. The pool is nice, there’s a shuttle to the ubud city centre 4 times/day so you’ve always fitness so much to do. I wish I was back there now! Also the food you can order, like nasi goreng is really really nice. Cooked to order breakfast is small but tasty. Bed was lovely. Only complaint was that you could heard wildlife and dogs from the room and you’re a little close to the other rooms so if they’re loud you will hear them Will 100% stay here again next time!

The staff were so friendly and could not do enough to make you feel at home! The authentic Indonesian food was exceptional too! Loved my stay here!!! Loved the overall setting and the quiet surroundings!
• Dustin (10/5): - We had a wonderful week at Ubad Retreat. It is located in a quiet cute neighbourhood out of the main town. We chose it because it was close to Ubud Yoga Centre, and we were able to walk within 15-20 minutes every day for class. They also have a shuttle to town (and return) 4 times a day which saves quite a bit on taxi fares. At first glance the pool looks a bit green, but then I realized it is the colour of tiles in the bottom. The pool was actually one of the cleanest feeling I have experienced in the past 4 months of travelling (almost like swimming in fresh rainwater). We enjoyed eating lunch by the pool and relaxing in the sun. Room was spacious, towels were soft, 4 pillows on the king size bed. Sheets changed every couple days (not necessary, but was done without our request). Last but not least, the staff were all wonderful! Adi, the main host, was so pleasant and well mannered. He was friendly, helpful, and polite at all times. When we arrived he said welcome home, and we really did feel like we were at a place we could call home. We will likely come back here!
• Caroline & Carl (10/5): A Perfect Retreat - We stayed 3 nights whilst in Ubud, and could have stayed longer. It is a family run retreat and from the moment you arrive you know you are in paradise. They 'welcome you home' as their motto and I would gladly live here. Great rooms, tranquil pool area, delicious breakfast (and other food available) and a peaceful paradise away from the craziness of the Ubud town centre. The shuttle service into town was great, as was being able to rent out a scooter to visit other areas. We stayed at a few '5 star rated' hotels during this Bali holiday, but Ubad Retreat has a special place. We loved every moment and will return, and highly recommend this place to anyone wanting true balinese hospitality and a place to escape to. Thank you Gus, Adi, Gusti and family.

• sourabh (8/5): Nice and Quite place to stay in Ubud - Place is pretty good , Away from the noise,but gets pretty dark in night. Lot of Big Lizards( gecko) :). But hosts are pretty nice here and makes your stay wonderful. Pool looks bit dirty , can be improved. Also Wifi is pretty good here.

• Vanessa (10/5): Perfect place :) - We stayed here for 3 nights during Nyepi. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms big and clean, the pool area pretty and the staff absolutely amazing. They were all so friendly and accommodating. They took us to the Ogoh Ogoh parade, drove us to the supermarket and dropped us off at our new hotel (4 free shuttles a day to Ubud are offered). The food was absolutely delicious, too. The people in the village were all smiling at us and included us during the Ogoh Ogoh celebration. It was such a relaxing place and I would definitely stay there again. Thank you Gus and team. You were amazing
• Cameron (10/5): Awesome find. - This is a great place to stay a short distance outside of Ubud. They offer a shuttle service so it's not a problem getting to town. Awesome friendly family like service, clean and well organized. Spacious well appointed room, great pool, safe area. You can't go wrong here.
• Aida (10/5): Wonderful service, great room away from the buzz - It is gorgeous hotel away from Ubud central. The service is wonderful, the room was spacious and clean. It is a small hotel with a small pool; very comfortable and clean. They even booked a tour for us which picked us up from the hotel. Right next to the hotel, there is a very luxurious hotel that offers incredible spa services so if you are feeling like a splash of luxury, then you can always pop by the hotel next door.
• Dan (10/5): A retreat indeed - Wi-Fi may be a little spotty at times but I have my own data so I was not affected much. Staffs were friendly. You know they are for real when they extended their niceties even to the local drivers that came to fetch me. Travellers would had came across farce friendliness as a paying consumer, but they seem to be friendly to almost everyone that came by. It is located at a quiet place and the only noise are the insects and perhaps owls at night. The location itself is indeed a retreat. The breakfast choices were lovely and freshly made for each customer! They even gave a drink and towel to freshen up upon your arrival.
• Adrian (6/5): It was okay - It's site said it was 2 miles from the city center of Ubud. Actually it was closer to 11 or 15 miles away. I was there 4 nights and they only cleaned room once.
• Aidan (10/5): Tranquil hotel in central Bali - Quiet and small hotel about 10 mins drive from central Ubud. Ideally placed for day trips around Bali, however the hotel itself has excellent food, facilities and staff, including providing local transport and great suggestions of what to do and where to go. We spent a wonderful week here, I was actually sad to leave at the end of it.....as I felt with all the day trips I hadn't spent enough time at the hotel itself!
• Raji (10/5): Apt location for a peaceful stay! - Ubad retreat is located in the rural residential area of Ubud, Bali. It takes around 5-10 minutes ride to the reach the heart of the town, where major tourist attractions are located. I had a very pleasant and relaxed stay at the hotel. The staffs were very courteous and supportive. Liked the serene ambience and satisfied with the facilities provided by the hotel. The hotel management also provided customised services such as assistance in Bike rental, arrangement for Mount Batur Sunrise Trekking and Cab for Airport drop off. • Karen & Carmelo (8/5): Beautiful, Tranquil with Attention to Detail - Small Retreat with Beautiful Gardens, Pool & Breakfast area. Our room was clean & had a lot of space & a large bathroom. Regular shuttle to & from Ubud which was appreciated. Choices for Breakfast made fresh for each guest. The fruit was delicious. We also dined in the Restaurant on occasion for lunch & Dinner & enjoyed all our meals.This is a Family owned business & we were made to feel welcome & special from the moment we arrived.
• Jeff (10/5): Amazing retreat outside ubud - Staff were amazingly friendly, treating all guests like a part of their family. Food is incredible, rooms beautiful and spacious, very nice pool. A little ways out of Ubud (hence the "retreat"), but the daily shuttle totally makes up for that. Absolutely incredible value for your buck. Bring some really strong mozzie spray. Will be on the top of my list if ever I come back to Ubud.
• Andrew (10/5): A getaway from your getaway - Incredible hospitality and service! I have never stayed at a more accommodating and welcoming hotel. They treat you like family and taking you into ubud city by shuttle anytime you need. Restaurant on site was great, not the best ever but really good food. Pool was perfect! Room was great, nice aircon, nice bathroom. Location was peaceful and in the middle of nowhere...just what I wanted. The only negatives I would say is that the wifi was a bit spotty and so was the hot water. But then again, that isn't the worst thing in the world. Would stay in Bali again just to visit Ubad Retreat again!
• Verified traveler (10/5): Phenomenal service with wonderful staff - The room was big and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and clean. The breakfast was tasty and fast. But the best part were the staff. They treated us like family and would drive us to and from the city center whenever we wanted. They had a shuttle schedule but would hop in their family car and drive us whenever we showed up. They were also so kind and attentive, giving us recommendations and tips for dining and activities that were wonderful. Thank you Adi, for treating us so well and we hope to come back soon!
• kat (8/5): Quiet and peaceful - The Ubad retreat is small and tucked away from the action of Ubud. We stayed for 2 nights and that was plenty for us. The guest bungalows are fairly spacious and the bed is large. Mosquitoes were a bit of an issue both inside the room and definitely on the porch. The owners are lovely people, very kind and gracious. The breakfast options are tasty. If you are looking for a quiet small retreat while in Ubud, this is the place for you. We really enjoyed the pool.
