- Sightsee32590928887 (10/5): Homely feel with nice local cuisine - The hotel is nicely situated & easily to get a grab to go around with a fair price. The staff is friendly. Hotel room is clean & comfortable for stay. Especially loved the food served by the restaurant (The Lamin). Full of native choices of food such as ayam pansuh, umai ikan, bunga kantan kerabu, Midin,cangkuk manis, ayam goreng rempah, laksa Sarawak and mee goreng. The teh tarik also nice. Not too sweet but full of flavour. Get to taste local food in hotel with fair price. The decorations at the reception area gives me a feel of walking into a mini museum. Will come again during my next trip
- p0htingl (10/5): A hotel with Sarawak cultural - Telang Usan is the only hotel I will stay when I visit Kuching, it was a hotel full with Iban culture. The restaurant “Lamin” is a must try when visit Kuching, I love traditional food service here like Umai from Melanau, ayam pansoh from Dayak & many more. The hotel displays all the Orang Ulu warriors costumes like Tapong Se and others. They also have a group of friendly staff at Front Office, Houskeeping and restaurant.

- matthewgS3626RH (8/5): Ideal Budget Hotel - We stayed here on and off for about 2 weeks on a World Challenge Trip. It is everything you could want in a budget hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. They even managed to help us negotiate group discounts on various excursions. We also participated in a cooking class run at the hotel which was a definite highlight. Rooms were air conditioned and cleaned daily and you were provided with fresh drinking water every day. The hotel was well located with many local restaurants within a five minute walk and the riverfront roughly a ten minute walk away.
- Climber16041385254 (10/5): Very convenient location, clean rooms and amazing food - The hotel is located in the city centre, which makes it very accessible to all the attractions in town. The breakfast is ok, but the other food you can order off the menu at the Lamin is incredible and has a really authentic taste of Sarawakian food. The rooms have just been renovated so they're all very clean and modern looking. There is also Netflix so you won't be bored if you decide to stay inside for the day.
- Kirsty (8/5): - The staff here are lovely: welcoming and helpful. The hotel is about 15 mins walk from the waterfront, and there are lots of eating places en route. The decor and furniture in the rooms is dated, but I think this is appropriately reflected in the price. Each floor has a stuffed bookcase with a wide range of books which guests can borrow. I experienced both a buffet breakfast and an individual one during my stay. The individually-prepared breakfast was excellent, with lots of choice; the buffet was pretty standard. I especially recommend a papaya granola smoothie!

- Howard (8/5): - Excellent hotel and restaurant staff. All were very courteous, and receptive to our needs. Food was excellent and delicious. We really admired the historical and authentic indigenous artifacts and decor found in the lobby, cafeteria and on the grounds. The Wi-Fi was good but weak in some areas. The rooms were clean but dated. However the hotel is undergoing a major renovation beginning with the first floor.

Renholder kom og vi ba dem kom senere så kom de ikke senere. Reholdet var elendig. Tror ikke gulv ble vasket den tiden vi bodde der. Dette er tydeligvis noe som alle hoteller i Malaysia plages med. Restauranten var grei god mat. De ansatte burde muligens ha hatt seg et engelskkurs
- 675Travel33 (10/5): A warm friendly hotel in a great location - I stayed for 2 weeks on the 2nd floor of the hotel (the 1st floor is currently being renovated...it looks wonderful) and was very satisfied with the service and amenities. I ate in the Lamin restaurant on the premises and found the food here excellent. They serve many traditional Sarawak dishes plus western cuisine also. Prices are very reasonable. I recommend the Umai Ikan (sashimi fish, snapper or dory both are good) with the Pisang Goreng (banana fritters with condensed milk and cheese) for dessert. Turn left at the hotel entrance then left again and you will see the Sharing and Lepau restaurants. If you turn right at the Sharing you will see 2 bright pink columns. This is the CT2 hotel. There is a 24hr coin laundry (change available at the CT2, MYR5 per load) and a mini mart shop there. Elevator access to upper floors and private bathrooms. Air-conditioning worked great. Only a 10 min walk to the Waterfront
- LUANG KIAW (10/5): - As usual, it's always like returning home. Almost all the staff at Telang Usan are familiar faces. We got the room facing the lovely green garden/forested area upon request. Love it! Will definitely be back.
- Luang Kiaw (10/5): - Staff & service: Generally excellent. (1) Melanie & Nicky went the extra mile to arrange for a FOC recce trip to Bengoh. My daughter & I had a fantastic day. (2) On our departure day, the staff on duty were quick to remediate the missed breakfast order done the day before by getting the kitchen staff to prepare our breakfast on time, although it wasn't the menu which we originally pre ordered. Cleanliness: Generally, a clean hotel. However, the housekeeping team could ensure that they clean/wipe the room's bathroom-toilet with regard to the sink, counter, shower cubicle & floor on a daily/regular basis during the guest's stay.

Das Personal ist besonders freundlich und immer hilfsbereit, ich habe mich einfach rundherum wohl gefühlt. Gleich nebenan ist ein wunderbares Restaurant mit indigener Küche und ins Zentrum kann man zu Fuß laufen 20 min oder ein Grab Taxi nehmen. Perfekt!

Surrounded by eateries such as See Good Restaurant & Lepau. The latter serves delicious & authentic Dayak cuisine. Lamin, the hotel's own restaurant serves authentic & delicious food with fresh ingredients. Love their Sarawak Laksa which is a must try. Although a bit dated, this hotel is way better than Pullman, Hilton & Majestic in terms of friendliness of its hotel staff, food, timely housekeeping, quiet, parking space and unique display of indigenous arts, craft & artefacts, etc.
- 93ernestw (4/5): OK room. Horrible staff and breakfast. - Room was OK. Functional but a bit dirty. There were tiny bugs in the bathroom. They didn't really bother me. I don't think they bite. But it still lends an impression of being dirty. VERY dated for sure. Location was OK. A bit out of the way but not too far from the center of town. Kuching is very small and easily walkable. Staff were not the friendliest though. Nobody ever smiled. Breakfast was terrible too. There is very little selection and they never refill it. I kept notifying the staff that some of the items needed to be refilled, but maybe aside from the rice or congee, none of the other items would get refilled. And even then, it would take half an hour! After I sat down, I watched as other guests came in, noticed that there wasn't much of anything, and just went back with a piece of fruit. Utterly pathetic!

My room had everything I needed, Air-Con, Ensuite with Hot shower, comfortable bed and daily room service. I couldn't be happier with the 3 months I spent here.

- fonglungc (8/5): Very quiet - Stayed there recently for 4 nights. The hotel is situated in a very quiet area so finding places to eat is very limited. There is only a budget eating place available during lunch time. And in the evening unless you are mad keen on BBQ then you will have to walk at least 10 mins for food. Simple breakfast was included and I really do knot know if they offer any alternative. If I ever return to Kuching i will definitely stay somewhere closer to the River because walking under the sun is not healthy.

Meals are also available at the cafe at a reasonable price. The only minor complaint is perhaps the loud noise emanating from nearby restaurants and cafes which are popular for functions and gatherings.

Location behind Pullman Hotel Kuching but no pedestrian walk (short cut) from Telang Usan to Kuching Waterfront. Need to drive less than 5 minutes. Famous steamboat (Halal Muslim) in front of the hotel. Delicious and cheap. Self service dobi just around the corner at the main road. Very quiet and relaxing place with small garden in front of it. Room has all the facilities like towel, toiletries, kettle, coffeemix, TV, aircond, elevator/lift. We enjoy our 2 nights stay here. Will come again.
- fior950 (6/5): This hotel needs to be given more attention from travellers on a budget. - Just nice for my family and I. We stayed here for about 77myr for a night in a standard twin room and had even treated us to a decent breakfast. Great staffs and service. Although many people here describe it as an 'old' room, which I think they meant the cupboard, chairs and drawers, the rest are just as good- tv, wifi and etc. The shower is fine, but I hope they could do an upgrade on their ceilings and add more lightings to make it look "classy", which in my opinion the room and hotel could deserve better reviews. Overall, my stay here is great and cozy at a budget cheap fare.

We were able to get a completely tailor-made wedding package that really suited our demands and needs. The staff was very friendly and everything went very smooth as planned. Most noteworthy amongst all was the food!!! All our guest are still licking there fingers weeks after the wedding!!! Thank you so much for making our big day so memorable!!! <3 <3 <3

- johnwD7902QW (8/5): A lovely homely hotel - Our group stays here every year. This relatively old hotel is not high end, but it is friendly with accomodating staff and a lovely atmosphere. The rooms are basic, but functional. The restaurant serves a great breakfast. You must ask for their Sarawak Laksa, it is wonderful. A little bar in the car park is also great for a quiet drink.

- CityFolks777 (8/5): A great hotel hidden from the main roafd in the CBD. - The hotel ambience - setting in traditional Sarawak Orang Ulu tribe and unique in this Borneo Island. The room rate are attractive and facilities are within expectation for what you are paying. Surprising foods in the hotel are well above avreage for hotel in Kuching. Staff are courteous, friendly and service are dedicated to serve.

It's not a long walk anywhere but the heat and the lack of footpaths made getting around less than enjoyable and took the shine off an otherwise excellent experience a bit. That said I would stay there again.
- pchu (6/5): Hotel ok, plenty of good eateries around - I think this little hotel has passed its heyday. The exterior and interior are dated and in need of renovation to bring its glory back. Our double room is reasonably clean and bright with 2 sets of windows, the room and bathroom are in good size, the air-conditioning is quiet. However our sink is dripping, they knew it and actually provided a small bucket for us to put it underneath the floor to hold dripping water. I would appreciate this get fixed properly. Wifi in the lobby area worked well but not so in our room, not sure if this was because our room was at the end of the corridor and a little tucked behind a corner. The buffet style breakfast offered both Asian and Western choices, not bad. We didn't have much interaction with the staff but for our brief conversation they seem to be pretty nice. The place is located in a little run down area (we feel very safe though) full of local eateries and all of them are very popular in the evening. There are a couple of buffet style Halal steamboat outlets, a western joint, a Chinese style seafood place, and a restaurant offers indigenous cuisine. Don't use the hotel's pricey laundry service, there are a couple coin laundry places near those restaurants.
- samantha (6/5): Noisy environment - The basic facilities of hotel are provided, breakfast is included too. Good services from the hotel. However, there are no noise cancellation for the room, we can basically hear the musics and noises from the party held in the cafe below the hotel. The water heater needed a longer time to heat up too.

The room was basic but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was basic but enough. Reception staff were friendly. It is a bit further out from the city centre but we didn't mind walking a little longer.
- izif_37 (8/5): hotel with a local touch - I loved the hotel because there is a local touch everywhere - from the reception area to the rooms. There is even a totem in front of the hotel! Also the name means something in one of the local languages. The twin room was not very big but comfortable and clean. Only the aircon was a bit noisy but we could sleep without it. We also had the breakfast - every day different choices and exotic fruits.
- Mike_gwilo (8/5): a hidden gem in Kuching - Telang Usan is a little micro-ism of Sarawak, with a mixture of Iban, Bidayuh, and other natives staffing the hotel. It's got a interesting collection of native artifacts and art, and certainly has a lot of local flavor. Located about 10 minutes walk from the city center, it's easily accessible. Valentina, the front office manager, is personable and friendly, and a wealth of knowledge about places to visit and things to do! Greatly enjoyed our stay there!
- Sharon_Wildlife (8/5): Thank you Valentina! - What a neat little hotel tucked away from the main city centre, but only 10 minute easy walk. This hotel was basic, but clean and comfortable. Located near a small, locally owned convenience store, a few beautiful restaurants and a park. The staff are what made this hotel amazing. Valentina was one of the best front desk officers I have come across. She was so pleasant and offered great ideas for my day trips. She is a REAL asset to the hotel. There is a bar across the road if you need a beverage and I can recommend the sangria. This hotel is set up in a traditional way with indigenous arts and crafts adorning the walls. I'll stay here again when I visit, thanks to Valentina. I will also recommend this hotel to my friends who travel this region often

- Azima (2/5): Not a nice stay - We reached the hotel around 10.30 pm. The staff told us our room was given to another guest despite the booking and payment through expedia. Was given a replacement room. Very old, shabby and not clean. No hose in toilet. We even skipped breakfast.

- Michellekft (6/5): Old but fine - Is a very old hotel but very cheap. The room given was big enough. I booked through Agoda, included breakfast with a very cheap price. Oh, it has a lift for a small hotel like this ! tumbs up ! haha Everything is good ! The location is quite hidden but there's few dining place in walking distance. I suggest you guys book through any online website because its cheaper than the walk in price.
- philipb299 (10/5): Brilliant for what I wanted - I stayed here for 3 nights on my Borneo tour. It was lovely. The staff were so lovely and helpful. Room was nice, as I was gone most mornings and back in the evenings all i wanted was a bed and a shower and WIFI.. it did the job for me, food was very good. but the best part of the hotel, was the tour operations that they have there. I met Adeline here, who organises tours and excursions, she was fantastic for me to organize and advise me on everything, she really made my trip to Borneo helping to book places and offer the best advice. She also arranged a driver for me, Tan Gek Hin, who was brilliant, he showed me so much of Kuching and they introduced me to a fantastic culture. When I was leaving I was going at 4am the Thursday morning and Adeline had arranged breakfast for me to pick up, this is great service and I look forward to coming here soon !!
- Mukesh70 (6/5): Budget hotel in Kuching - Rooms are small and OK. Bed covers, blankets, towels are old. Very difficult to use. Aircon in the room was not cooling at all. Hotel requires renovation. Not a good place to stay. Restaurant is having very limited option in the complimentary breakfast.

- MaggieKuching (10/5): Local Flavour of Kuching - Telang Usan is a pleasant change from the standard hotels. All the staff are local Sarawakians from different groups - Iban, Bidayuh etc. They were very friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was fine, except when there was a large group. The little bar in the garden was a lovely place to relax in the evening. Location is great, close to centre, restaurants, shops, yet quiet as it is off the main Ban Hock road. The rooms are adequate - the hotel is not brand new!
- NicoleNotaerts (6/5): Arriving in Kuching - The first night I had to spent in this hotel, was not so nice, because I had a room that was not cleaned, everywhere was dust, and I didn't had my 2 bottles of water. When I ask for the water, the reception immediatly gave me one bottle. it is a little bit dated hotel, they are renovating it : the phonewires are out of the wall, the new flatscreen needed to be connected, for making the aircon working, I had to take the chair, and switch it on that way. When I stayed in this same hotel, I asked another room, it was clean, and the 2 bottles were available. I did missed a fridge. The hotel is sittuated not far from good restaurants, and not far from the riverbank, so that's possitive
- AlexBuguk (6/5): Quiet Corner of the City - Good location for those who wants some peace and quiet but not faraway from the city centre. Old hotel with some renovations done.. Facilities are reasonably good. Friendly staff...with breakfast. only one set back, called the reception for Wi-Fi password and waited for more than 10 rings. Overall good stay

- Amy (10/5): Nice hotel, clean, comfortable and lovely staff - I highly recommend this hotel, it is clean, comfortable, has great wi-fi connectivity, free breakfast and the staff are very helpful. However it can be a bit noisy if you have a front-facing room as the restaurants nearby play music, it is not too bad unless you are trying to concentrate on work or studies. However I'm sure a room facing the other direction won't have this issue.

- Yuichi (8/5): とても清潔なリーズナブルなホテル - 清掃が行き届いていて快適に過ごせました。 通常東南アジアのホテルでこの価格帯のホテルはシャワーで温水が出なかったり、タオルが用意されていなかったり、そもそも清掃が行き届いていなかったりしますが、このホテルはそのようなことがなく良いと思います。 スタッフも好意的にしてくれましたし、勧められると思います。

- Alain (10/5): à recommander à Kuching - Super Hotel, pas très loin du centre (il faut marcher un peu) donc très calme, même s'il y a un restaurant à coté. Décoration superbe du lobby avec des objets de la région de Kuching. Chambre très confortable même si un peu défraichie. Accueil formidable, très gentil et serviable. Petit déjeuner très bon. Un bon hotel à petit prix !
