- Maggi (2/5): 10 years of wear and tear & poor management ... - Please don't be fooled by the photos, they were taken before the dining table started loosing it's finish, the outdoor table started to deteriorate and you could actually get the gate leading to Lee Avenue open. The wear and tear of the last ten years is very EVIDENT. Things you would expect from your vacation rental that were NOT provided: - no laundry detergent - no shampoo - no bath mats - no coffee & coffee filters - no salt & pepper - no sponge The cleaning and maintenance were sub-par as well. - two crisper drawers not wiped out - garbage in the trash can under the clean trash bag - wads of dog hair on the bottom sheet and no top sheet on the lower bunk - dead bugs and dust/dirt under one of the beds - dirty towels in one nightstand drawer ... ewww - light bulbs burned out in bathroom and kitchen - GFCI in one of the bathrooms not working - bathroom door in the hallway would not latch - tub bathroom drain running slow in the hall to the point your feet are under water by the time you finished your shower - only one pillow on the king size bed There was a lovely binder with the usual house rules and check-out duties. In addition there was copious amounts of information on the area ... all printed in 2011 ... 13 years ago! It is a shame, the location is convenient to downtown. If there isn't investment made in or action taken soon, I can't imagine anyone wanting to stay in this place ... and we paid a premium for a festival weekend.

- Shelly G. (2/5): Not as expected - I attempted to contact the property management prior to our arrival and received no response. I did not hear from them until the day of check in and received the check in details. We arrived late that evening and ready for bed. Upon arrival, the unit was upstairs and there are old containers filled with cigarettes outside of our door. The unit was a nice size but it was dirty and not maintained. There were gnats in the drain of the large bedroom bathroom. Both of the bathrooms had build up in the tub, floors and toilet. The refrigerator was dirty. The couch was old and smelled. There were water stains on a bedroom ceiling. It’s a very noisy location, especially late at night. The units need maintenance and thorough cleaning.

But the property manager came and got it cleared up. The property is close to a bus station but we had no issue. The owner was very very accommodating, even offering us a “long term rate” due to our situation which we very much appreciated during these trying times. This was like home away from home.

My kids loved the visiting cats in the yard as well. We would definitely consider using this property again when we come back into town.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is my second time staying here. There were a few issues,like my door code not working. But a quick call remedied that. They came, checked and fixed the issue. The cable went out and Ms. Charlotte came right away to assist me. Although, there were a few issues, the staff worked quickly in fixing it. I will definitely put this place as my 1st option when coming in town.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This property is in a rather seedy neighborhood, next to the bus station and some railroad tracks. There were a few homeless people hanging around the station, though a police car was usually present in the area. The yard around the property could use some cleanup. The condo itself was very nice with large living spaces and nice furnishings. The tv didn’t work. We called the property manager and a very nice woman came promptly and got it going. The next day the tv didn’t work again, so the woman came and got it going again. The smaller bedroom had only a bottom sheet and a bedspread. Would have been nice to have a top sheet and blanket as well. The shower curtain in the first bathroom had some mold on the inside and needs to be cleaned or replaced. The condo has little sound insulation, so we could clearly hear traffic noise, trains going through a few times a day, and we could even hear the conversations of people walking by. The biggest problem was when people moved in below us at 11:30 pm on our last night there and their kids ran up and down their hallway, yelling and laughing until about 2:30 am, even though we knocked on the floor, etc. If was a very unique place, but I’d never stay there again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Choo Choo Lofts was a very nice, clean place on the inside. It is in a pretty seedy neighborhood though. It is very need the bus station and there were several homeless people in the area. There was a police car parked next to the station most of the time, which made us feel s little more secure. A train went by a few times, day and night and the lifts have little sound insulation, so you really hear it. In fact, you can hear traffic noise and even people talking on the street pretty clearly. The furnishings were very nice but we had a lot of trouble getting the tv to work. We called the management company and a very nice lady named Charlotte came promptly and got it going. However, the next day it went out again. Charlotte came back and got it going again. The bed in the small bedroom had no top sheet or blanket, which would have been appreciated. The shower curtain in the first bathroom had some mold on it and needs to be cleaned or replaced. The biggest problem was on our last night there when people moved in downstairs at 11:30 pm and their kids pounded through the apartment until 2:30 am, despite our knocking on the floor, etc. As I said, no sound insulation, so it was very annoying to hear them running and yelling. I would never stay here again for those reasons!

We used the apartment to get my sister and her bridesmaids ready for her wedding. There was plenty of space and parking for everyone! I plan on using Choo Choo in the near future and suggest this location to anyone visiting the downtown area.

- Christie C. (10/5): Loved the Choo Choo Lofts - If you are not allergic or afraid of cats, I highly recommend the Choo Choo Lofts for nice quiet get a way, it’s definitely home away from home. It was clean, spacious and well equipped with the necessities for their guest. However, I would recommend instructions as to how to get in the once you’ve punched the door code in. We was able to go back to the email to get an after hours person that walked through it over the phone but we panic when code didn’t work for us. Amber was great accommodating our family. Also make sure you list on the amenities that there is a hair dryer.

- Monica (10/5): Downtown Loft with A Train View - It was very nice with lots of room and very nice furnishings. The rooms even had walk in closets! It was also I'm within very easy walking range of many down town attractions including the Downtown Alive event, and several museums and eateries. The grill needed repair and it is right next to the train station so keep this in mind. The trains come through throughout the night but my little one loved watching the trains. Also we weren't told our reservation was upstairs until the check in email. This could be a problem for some.
- Richard (4/5): My night in the 'Hood. - As I found out, it's not just a cute name; "Choo Choo Lofts" is actually a perfectly defining name. Up stairs, and planted directly next to a very active railroad, as I found out every couple of hours, or so, with a blaring train horn and the ground shaking each time the train passed. Including, 12 AM and around 3 AM. Guests will not sleep well at the Choo Choo Lofts. If that wasn't enough, I found myself stepping outside to make certain my car hadn't been vandalized. Choo Choo Lofts is located in the heart of the seedy area of downtown Lafayette, about a block from the bus station. Many homeless and shady loiterers. There are no TVs in any of the bedrooms, no radio. Just the sounds of the train and gunshots to smooth you into sleep at night. And I hope you like cats...There were around five of them we had to traverse to get to the stairs each time we left or came back.
- Michael (2/5): Unfit to be a dog house! - This was extremely disappointing, and I would suggest that somebody from Hotels.com needs to go check this property out before you let anyone rent it again. The place was filthy, the kitchen not fit to cook in, under the beds there was a lot of dust, old socks...the internet went down twice while we were there, the circuit breaker kept blowing, which means they likely have a wiring problem. The area around the property is less than safe and hospitable, although it was within walking distance of restaurants and bars. There is a railway line less than 100 yards from the property and a traffic crossing so the trains have to blast their air horns...to add insult to injury there were 4 pages of instructions and conditions provided and the owner or management company insisted on having my credit card on file in case of any problems....
- donna (10/5): Boutique Condo in Historical Lafayette - This was such a surprise! A beautiful and secure condo in the downtown/historical district of Lafayette, La. Our family had to attend a funeral and we were pleased to stay in this boutique like condo. Much better than any hotel. Perfect for a large family. We were attending a funeral at 10AM and unable to checkout at 11PM

Overall a great experience! All contact with staff is via email or text/phone, which made "check in" effortless.

We were not able to enjoy the outside at all because all the cats. However, once we got inside it was very nice. It was very clean and the facilities accommodated our group perfectly. There's a reason it's called Choo Choo though. My family is used to trains so it wasn't a problem but it is very close and can definitely be heard. Overall a great experience and we'd stay there again.
