Only complaint was that it smelt like they bleached the entire room before we arrived, but I guess that is preferred over a stinky room. Would also recommend bringing your own TP because you get what you pay for. Great central location between the lake and the downtown area, walkable to both. Made for a nice stay in Manistee, would be open to staying there again in the future.

• Jennifer (10/5): Motel gem - I've never stayed in a motel with cuter decor. It may be older, but location (by water) and price point were great. Appreciated the fridge/microwave. Only wish there had been a way to get coffee or tea before the front desk opened at 8 am. We had to leave early and there were no options in the room itself.

• Terrie (8/5): Good for a short stay - Motel backs above the river. If possible get a room with a patio facing the river. Our room was fine. Microwave and frig. Bathroom was in the process of being remodeled. What was done was lovely. Very nice family owner. Has an outdoor pool and is pet friendly. Good location.
• Laurie (6/5): - Older property but in a very convenient location. Easy walk into town or to the lake along the river walk. Rooms are pretty basic. Microwave & refrigerator in the room. Keurig coffeemaker in the office so only available during office hours. Rooms really need room darkening curtains and pillows are terrible, so bring your own. A/C is loud but that helps block the noise from neighbors going in and out of cars right outside your room.
• Audrey (6/5): Room without a view - The hotel is on the river which is nice. We cancelled our stay and were refunded the entire amount because we were under the impression we would have a walk out patio to enjoy the view. Double check your reservation or call ahead if you are expecting this as advertised. Without the patio the room was very small and the bed not great and not worth the high price.

• Chris (8/5): - Our stay was a good one. The room was no frills but very clean. The staff were open and friendly. We had a slider and was able to enjoy watching the boats come and go as we drank out coffee in the morning. Seems that they cater to fisherman, who can dock in there marina. As a result, the property was quiet. When we travel we look for places like this so we can travel about. If you like a clean, quiet place, give this place a good look.
• Doug (10/5): - Great location right on the channel, many rooms have sliders with a walkout patio and chairs overlooking the channel, also within walking distance to the beach and downtown.

Walk out of your room to a small patio and sit on very nice rockers and stare out on the water and watch the boats go by! If you need all the amenities and outlets in all the rooms, not the place for you! If you want peace and to reflect this is your place! They are updating and working on the electrical! So.. more outlets to come! Trista in the office very sweet and helpful on places to eat! You do have to go to the office for your morning coffee! They are working on that! There are fridges and microwaves in the room! Highly recommend! Looking forward to our next stay!! I'm sorry the other host name has slipped my mind, didn't meet her but she kept us informed on what was going on!! Enjoy

• Michelle (10/5): - Cute vinatge motel with updated rooms. Great location. Walkable to downtown but not in all th3 congestion. We booked a queen room but were given a double so were dissapointed we were not riveriside like expected. We arrived at 2:50 and a sign said they'd be open at 3:15 so we left to eat. We recieved a call saying the office would close at 4:00 so they'd leave a key wo we hqlad no way to switch rooms from the mistake. Nothing in the room is plugged in upon arrival (refrigerator, a.c., etc.) So i advise calling ahead if its hot or you have things you need to refrigerate so maybe they would plug things in for you. I would stay here again though!
• Kimberly (2/5): - We THOUGHT we would have a room with a view of the river but didn’t. We had no one to talk to about our room choose because the place is only staffed from 8;00 am to 11:00 am. Most of the river view rooms were empty. We asked the next morning if we could move one of out rooms to a river view room and we’re told no. We noticed that a LOT of the river view rooms were still empty all the nights we were there. The entry door had a metal lip on the surround that caught all of us when trying to open or close the door. (we had 2 rooms with 5 adults). My bf’s nail was ripped back. There were no locks on the windows. The bathroom on room 18 didn’t have a knob on the inside, just some sort of turn key lock. We couldn’t shut the door all the way. When I actually shut the door two different times I had to have my bf turn the knob on the outside of the bathroom so I could get out. My 85 year old dad struggled with the weird smell in the room he and my mom were in. My bf, sister and I had a partial roll tp that ran out the first night and there was no spare. No one on-site to ask for more. (Office only manned from 8:00 - 11:00 am.) We we’re all disappointed in our rooms and the lack of help we got to address our issues. I think I could have overlooked a lot of the things if we could have been moved to an actual river view room for the second night and had chairs to sit on outside our room. There were rooms empty. We would have paid a cleaning fee.

• Susan (10/5): - Retro looking motel on the Manistee river. Simple but clean. Comfortable beds, larger refrigerator than most hotels, plenty of storage space in dresser and under the beds. Glider chairs and picnic table facing the river for nice view of the sunset. Close to downtown and Lake Michigan.

• Verified traveler (10/5): Great location - The location is perfect, close enough to downtown but a quiet location. Our room didn't have a walk out so we didn't have anywhere to sit outside. Rooms with walkouts have chairs, picnic tables and a bbq. Even in the room there was no where to sit but the bed. A chair or two would've been great. There was air conditioning, a fridge and microwave and the room was a good size.
• Nancy (8/5): Great location - The location was great.. enjoyed sitting out on the patio watching the boats on the river. The gliding chairs were awesome! You can walk the river walk to town or the beach. The bathroom needs a lot of TLC…we were told that in the off season months they are going to update and redo electrical… Cassandra (?) at the front desk was awesome… The main bedroom was clean and updated.

Adequate for the time spent in the room. Only complaint is very little water pressure in the shower ( room 120) staff very pleasant and friendly, made good recommendations for dinner.

• Scot (8/5): Manistee overnighter - My wife thought it was retro cute. Very clean. Staff was great. Its in a quiet location on the river. Riverwalk trail runs by it, you can easily walk to the beach. Beds were firm but comfy. Has a pool that looked good. Accepts dogs for a reasonable charge.

• Allison (10/5): Overall decent for price - We did have to wait to check in. But otherwise service was great. Room have a very strong odor of "cleaner" where i had to open the slider and turn the fan on the whole time.
• Ron (2/5): - We checked in and the room had no screens for the windows, toilet was running all the time, no ac, holes in the walls by the tv and in the bathroom, the front of the building looked ok but the side and the back was terrible, I would never stay there again. All these items can be seen by any one with eyes without even looking for bad things. Theres no way people who own and run it didn’t know of these issues but did nothing to fix it.

• Laura (10/5): - Perfect little stay for a night or two in Manistee. It's a very bare bones room, but the bed was comfy and the TV nice and big -- and the location (right on the river, walking distance from downtown was perfect). Kinda thin walls, but no one was very noisy.

• Torrie (4/5): - For the cost of renting the room, there was limited space for fishing outside the sliding doors as description stated, unless you were hiring a charter. This was the sole reason that I rented the room was so my son and I could fish outside without having to drive around. Almost $300 for a room I feel like we could have did a lot better elsewhere I will not be renting again.

• David (8/5): Great location/stay - Love the location. The motel rooms were updated and clean. The staff was very friendly and responsive. Would suggest a couple improvements that come with little expense. 1. Place a small chair in each room. 2. Place a bath mat in each room. 3. For our room, replace the towel bar (it appeared that it had fallen off) so the towels are not hanging on the assist bar next to the toilet. 4. Add some common area seating around the property, especially bar the river.

• Anne (8/5): Cute and helpful - This little motel is trying so very hard to be great. The room was super clean and fresh. The staff was amazingly responsive. But, the building is older, and somethings don't quite work - the bathroom door tended to stick, and the shower was difficult to control temp-wise. That for me added to the joy of the hotel, but I can see others having a problem with it. I would definitely stop there again.

• Shane (8/5): Cozy, comfy and fun - Beautiful river view. Outdoor grill and picnic tables make for a fun evening. A great effort to update the property really shows. Next update project should be doors. Not the height of luxury, but cozy, comfy and fun.

• David (8/5): - This hotel is in a great location with access to the boardwalk on the river and overlooking the river. It was in a great location to walk downtown to restaurants and shopping. On arrival, at 5:30 pm there was no staff at the hotel. Office was closed with my key left at the mailbox. Office was open at checkout the next morning. I don't think there was staff until the next morning. Which was fine but no chance to ask questions or get an extra towel etc. Limited amenities. The pool was closed for the season. Overall, I would stay again for the location. Basic, clean room!

• Theresa (10/5): Wonderful time. - It was an amazing time, room was clean and very nice. Just right for two people. Very peaceful, amazing view of the river to watch the boats go by and to watch the fishing charters come in and see what type of fish people were catching. The manager is a wonderful girl, she want above and beyond. We will be staying there again next year.
