Guest Reviews
- Krystal (8/5): - The room was spacious and close to the college and downtown. It came with a small refrigerator and a microwave which made cooking and storing food convenient. Because it was a pet friendly hotel the room seemed to have some kind of mites, and we ended up with a bunch of small bites or hives (it did not seem like bed bugs). There was also a strong smell of air freshener that tried to cover what seemed like a wet dog smell.
- Rebecca (9/5): - Clean room with no carpet and newer bathroom and great time at the candy shop Nothing
- LARRY (8/5): -
- Virginia (7/5): Very pleasant and quiet. - The hotel was a nice place to stay, and having a Candy store on site didn't hurt. đ I found the staff to be very friendly, and the room was clean. My only complaint was.the bed was very uncomfortable for me, and the pillows were too flat. Other than that, a pleasant stay. I would recommend this cute hotel. The bed and pillows were my only issue I had, but that could.just be me.
- Katrina (8/5): Pleasantly surprised! Would stay there again. - Appreciated mini fridge and teens liked the TV. Plumbing made unexpected gurgling noises that could be heard through closed door when no one was in the bathroom (even after running water, thinking there mightâve been air in the pipes) but functioned fine.
Orientation Binder in room was helpful but we werenât sure where bfast was served so missed out on that (donât recall seeing comments about it in book). Couldâve called management - very friendly - but we had car snacks anyway.
- Craig (10/5): Quiet and comfortable. Worth every penny - Convince and easy in and out. Clean and very comfortable beds
- Denise (10/5): - Middlebury Sweets is a clean, comfortable motel. The staff we dealt with was accommodating and helpful. The rooms are a little small. But we expected that from the description. We had a great time in the Candy shop. And the location was perfect for our needs.
- Hilary (10/5): Lovely - No breakfast but we loved the attention to details, cleanliness and how dog friendly it was with low pet fees. Never met owners but had excellent communication Nothing
- Ashton (9/5): -
- Kristal (7/5): Would stay again - It was a cute little room. I know space wise it isn't possible but wish the bathroom was a little bigger. I'm no skinny minny. Lol also disliked the long curtain in bathroom. It always touching the back side and side of you. But it was great and visited the candy store inside the main office. Wowzers so much candy. The home made chocolates and truffles were so good. The women in office when we went the next day was so kind. Also checking in and out was very different then any place I've stayed as a hotel/motel. So easy and convenient I guess the word would be. But over all it is a very sweet place. Maybe next time we will try one of the escape rooms. We didn't need the wifi our phones had service without it. So if you have a sweet tooth. I recommend checking them out. Some old school candy to modern-day like now candy. Then have truffles, chocolates, Carmel sticks, and so much more made stuff. The small bathroom. But I know because of space you can't really put a bigger bathroom in it. But it was doable. Disliked the long curtain in bathroom next to the toilet. It kept touching me and wonder what could be on it from others too. So I ended up moving it back and up some so it didn't touch while using the toilet. Also maybe put in something for personal shower supplies. I always bring my own shower stuff. No place to put it inside shower. They do have dispensers of shampoo, conditioner, soap in the shower. But myself and allergic to many detergents and soaps. So that is one if the reasons I bring my own. But other than that it was a nice place.
- Sam (9/5): -
- Jeff (10/5): - Comfortable room, easy checkin and checkout, great location, even a candy store! I can't believe it's a 1 star hotel, it's better than some 3 stars I've stayed in. Nothing, it was a great place to stay!
- Stephen (10/5): -
- Enjoli (10/5): Great stay for the price and the short notice. Very clean, warm and cozy. - Motel was just a short drive from Middlebury College and a shopping plaza. My husband struggled a little bit with figuring out how to work the heat but that's about it.
- Rhonda (9/5): - Room was cute! Parking spot size
- Mark (10/5): -
- Jessica (8/5): Great place to stay while passing through the area. Clean, quiet and safe - Clean and quiet. Nothing
- John (8/5): - The bathroom had been completely renovated and was outstanding.
- Joachim (10/5): - This motel was a wonderful surprise. Very comfortable. Notice the âSweetsâ in the name? There is a candy store attached that is to die for !!! Lovely and accommodating proprietor. There is a family restaurant right up the street that has good food and nice breakfast.
- Blenda (10/5): - Wonderful place and affordable. I can see they updated the rooms. It was comfortable and clean. Appreciate having such a convenient place to stay and it had everything we needed.
- Linda (10/5): Great place! - A wonderful clean place! Big room and comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Bobbie.
- Ofer (7/5): -
- Paul (10/5): - Itâs the perfect little motel.
I have 2 suggestions: 1) a doormat inside the entry door ( because today was heavy rain)
2) A streetlight at either driveway entrance. It was very dark and with the rain visibility was awful. Fortunately the traffic was light.
- Raymond (4/5): - Very overpriced given the conditions. Will not return.
- Lynda (10/5): Loved how they were already starting to decorate for Halloween. What they had up was awesome. - Everything
- Rosa (7/5): - Location
- Lisa (10/5): - cute an cozy, and not as tiny as the description makes it out to be
- Sandra (10/5): - Location was great with just a short drive town and to our hiking trailheads.
- Josephine (2/5): - Property was poorly maintained with a broken bathroom door you could not close when using the bathroom (clearly had been like that for a long time). Asked for another room but they were full. Room itself and bathroom were tinier than even what you would encounter in Europe, especially Italy. Had to request your room to have maid service. Grass was extremely high and when cut, no one cleared the cuttings so you just tracked it into your room. Very poor parking for those occupying end units and you are competing for space with people who actually live at the motel. Very dishonest booking practices, the booking was made using points from a credit card, however, they stated after the stay when card was charged that they do not accept points. There was no way of knowing that upon booking.
- Charles (8/5): I enjoyed it sufficiently to hope to return. - They are very honest and frank on their website. If you want a fancy, very modern motel, with a hot tub, jacuzzi, and exercise room, this is not the place for you. It is small with small rooms, but very cozy and sweet (pun intended) I liked it. Two extra plusses, what other motel has a candy store at the center of its complex, and there is a nice deli across the road. with a good breakfast and great sandwiches.
- Angela (10/5): - Clean, friendly staff and comfy beds
- Emily (10/5): - Nice and clean. Plus we love the candy shop!
- Vincent (8/5): - Weird candy themed motel, but staff is friendly and helpful.
- zarfos (6/5): Great place to stay close to everything and great value - No breakfast
Location excellent very close to downtown Middlebury
Large candy shop
On site was a fun feature Tv instructions were confusing
- Tracy (8/5): - Place was great for price. Very clean and staff were helpful. Thanks
- Barrios (10/5): It very nice place - It very confortable It perfec everything
- Jodie (9/5): Superb -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cozy, easy stay - This is a small, old-fashioned motel. The room was smaller than most modern hotels but still had plenty of room for me and my dog. I loved the simple, honest appearance. The owners made it easy to check in and get into my room without waiting at a lobby counter. There's a candy store in the middle of the motel, and I had treats on my bedside table when I came in.
- Lois (10/5): I would recommend this small strip motel - The staff was wonderful. The room was very clean and comfortable. It was located close to restaurants. It was a short drive to the wedding barn of Vermont. Can't think of a thing
- Deana (10/5): - Travel to Middlebury for business.
- Zohar (7/5): Good - The room was big and the check in was simple with a code for the door. The floor was a bit dirty and everything looked old and outdated. The bathroom was very small and the door didnt close all the way
- Kwang (6/5): we stopped here for a night on our way to NY. A decent place to shower and sleep. - NA
- Lois (10/5): Exceptional - I didn't try the breakfast. Went up the street to Rosie's which was great! The room was clean and nicely decorated. The staff was friendly and helpful.
- Dan (10/5): - Such a great place with great management
- TawĂŁ (10/5): - The room was better than a lot of the hotels I stayed in.
- Kody (10/5): If u have a Sweet tooth, this place is for you! - Amazing place to stay, easy to find & not far from many different stores & restaurants. Its very clean & kid/family friendly. The staff here are very accommodating & if u have a sweet tooth, theres also a candy store thats apart of the the motel. Overall, very comfortable & affordable.
- Sarah (10/5): - Room was clean and had everything I needed for a quick visit!
- Juliana (10/5): - The Motel was great! Quiet, despite being near rte 7. The rooms were clean, comfortable, very comfortable bed, microwave and small refrigerator and small desk to work. Nice to find a good place affordable in Middlebury!
- Michelle (10/5): - Great stay. Close to town. On a main road but road noise was never an issue. Had everything I needed -- thank you!
- Karl (8/5): - Simple, rather cheaply furnished, small, close to noisy road and bright exterior lights, but clean and sufficient for one night
- Nathan (8/5): A cute cozy hotel with everything you need. - check in process was easy and convenient to arrive whenever we needed to and leave when ready. Room was clean with everything we needed for a one-night stay. The room was cozy - great for sleeping, but not a lot of extra room, and the bathroom felt a bit cramped - but very clean!
- David (10/5): - Loved the candy store too !!
The ladies were very friendly !!
- Lamdin (9/5): I'd come back 8f need be. - Loved the candy store. Close to where I needed to be. Veryn8ce staff. Shower is a tad small
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I really appreciate the seamless checkin and checkout process. Overall great stay!
- Iryna (10/5): - Just checked in hotel , was easy and as instructed . Nice and clean room , everything you need also available. Thank you
- Marie (8/5): - The owners gave an honest account of the property. It perfectly fit our needs and allowed us a visit with our daughter in college with our dog. We would stay again if the opportunity presents.
- Peter (8/5): Very good - The place was spotless, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. The motel was situated along a busy road, where the steady hum of passing vehicles filled the air
- Amy (10/5): - Very clean, comfortable beds and pillows.
- Bambi (10/5): SWEET sweet stay in the chocolate room. - My room was very cozy. I was there on a holiday weekend in January so I knew there would be no service and no breakfast. That is not available from Oct. til April. There are large windows in the room and it was January so I was cold. Very cold even with the thermostat turned up to 73, but I don't think they could have done anything. The candy store on site is AMAZING!!!! The staff there super nice.
- Nicholas (6/5): Good and bad - The good- room was clean and newer than expected.
The bad- room was 60 degrees when we got there and took half the night to get up to 70 degrees.
There are few outlets, and they are behind the bed so a extension cord, power spliter is needed to use any electric
People were right outside our room sitting with there car with it running for hours multiple times and that was a bit creepy.
- Terri (10/5): Had to have a colonoscopy at Porter and this was a great place to stay for it. - It was very sweet and very nice. Breakfast isnât being served during the Winter hours which was a bummer
- Brian (9/5): Great place to stay for the night before traveling to your next stop - The room was very clean and comfortable. And there's a candy store right in the middle.
- Carlene (8/5): Very good - No breakfast included Sort of dark area.
- Angela (8/5): Very good -
- Barbara (10/5): - Good communication and friendly service.
- Adam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Oscar (10/5): - Hotel room is excellent for price. Need plugs near bed for cell phones and an iron
- Brayden (10/5): - Very nice.
- Gary (7/5): Interestingly themed motel. - Sweet shop. Free chocolate samples in room. Eating breakfast in room.
- Doreen (9/5): It was a wonderful stay - Loved the stay at the motel, although the concept of 'absolutely no contact' was a bit new to me. Would have loved to meet the owner, however, her reactivity and answers to any questions were quick, kind and totally easy going. I appreciated all efforts that were made. Signs and The room was clean, the bed was great and the heater worked perfectly (and was very low on noise). Information material was provided on everything so that it is ensured to be a wonderful stay. No breakfast, but it's mentioned on their website so you can plan accordingly.
- James (10/5): - Great place to stop
- Pearman (7/5): Good -
- Coleen (8/5): Very good - Clean and cozy. Candy store is added bonus. Breakfast nook has yummy donuts. room a little small but not a big deal.
- Edward (10/5): - Convenient to Middlebury College.
- Teresa (8/5): Not bad for a roadside motel, but wifi is essential in 2024 - Close to Middlebury College. Couldn't stay at the regular hotels I book when visiting Midd, so tried this one. It was better thank expected, but I had low expectations since it's a motel, not a hotel. WiFi didn't work. I had work to do and had to leave hotel to get it done.
Bed was not great.
- Andrea T (8/5): A little expensive for what it was - Rooms very clean and beds comfortable. Bathroom so-so, very small and cramped. Room quality so-so for the price.
Need to be clearer on how to check in.
- Vegar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (8/5): Very good -
- Barry (8/5): - Staff is excellent.
- Michelle (9/5): Superb -
- Cidalia (10/5): - Well equipped with every amenity needed! Super clean and beds were very comfortable. Will definitely stay there again!
- Virginia (8/5): Very convenient, clean and comfortable. Just difficult charging watch and phone far away from bed. - The bed and pillows were very comfortable! Needed available outlets near the bed to charge phone and watch.
- Lora (8/5): Very good - Did not have breakfast there.
- Paul (8/5): Comfortable, quiet place to hangout - It was quiet and comfortable It was small but knew what to expect
- Paul (10/5): - Cute, small, clean, and neat set-up for self-serve breakfast
- William (6/5): Pleasant -
- Nimish (8/5): - Nice clean rooms. Nothing much immediately around the motel it seems but quite a few services at a quick driving distance. 6 mins from downtown Middlebury.
The online checkin process was very efficient. The room was ready to go when we arrived.
- Brooke (10/5): We had a lovely stay - Breakfast was funny, but fine It was perfect for our needs!
- Rana (8/5): - Nice motel, room was clean and bed confortable. Doors were squeaky and bathroom door didnât fully close. Walls are quite thin, and right by the road, so it was a little loud. But overall good experience.
- Ainsley (7/5): A good stopping point to suit our needs. - Staff very friendly.
Great entrance display.
Good facilities- liked breakfast arrangement. Nothing really. Staff knew about problem with door and awaiting it being repaired.
- Jp (8/5): Great value, clean, as advertised! - Basic accommodations with very clean rooms, great location, easy check in, and affordable relative to other options in Vermont. Nothing major, hard to see the motel at night as the sign and entrance was not lit. Otherwise great!
- Nanci (10/5): - Great option in the Middlebury area!
- Connie (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay. Room was nice and clean, comfortable beds. Staff was very friendly. We absolutely loved the candy store!! We will definitely stay here again.
- Drew (10/5): - Older motel but upgraded very nice. Very clean rooms. Super friendly staff.
- Gmanbumpy (8/5): Great option to stay in middlebury - We were in a terrible Airbnb and so thankful this room opened up on a busy weekend in Middlebury. Motel is close to the road but noise is not a problem. There were all amenities in our room. Rooms good size. Beds comfortable. Little breakfast room had yogurt, cereal, pastries, water, juice, milk. Coffee in room. Close to town. Decent hiking close by. Sandwich shop good across the street. Try the Maple Creemee stand very close to motel. A must! Room available! Beds comfortable
- Edward (6/5): - Unique candy-themed rooms, very clean. I suggest saying there is not breakfast. Whatâs available in the nook (prepackaged cereal and hard, dry packaged donuts) does not constitute anything near breakfast.
- Marilyn (8/5): - Appreciated the clean room. The bathroom door needs to be adjusted to close.
- Rodney (10/5): - 50's era motel with very nice upgrades. Vinyl plank flooring in living area, modern tile and fixtures in the bathroom. Rustic style furniture fitting for the local. suitcase caddy, open closet bar with full complement of hangars. All linens and towels bright white, fresh and unscented. Everything was very clean. Probably not ideal for a family for a multiple night but ideal for a couple or single traveler. Would not hesitate to use again.
