Guest Reviews
- Drew (10/5): Hidden Gem - Great stay with everything you need. Close to grocery store, restaurants, shopping, local bars. Check in was easy and parking was right by the room. Would recommend to anyone and will return again in the future.
- Amy (6/5): - It was a very basic motel. The room wasn’t the cleanest and the beds were not at all comfortable. They had very thick hard mattresses.
- Gene (6/5): - Checkin is awkward. No one at desk and you have to call on counter phone for service. The sign says you should call and stay on the line. I did this and waited for an answer three times before getting a response. Took about 20 minutes just to check in. Loud fan noise all night sounded like a helicopter got trapped in the attic above the room.
- JEREMIAH (10/5): - Just needed a clean, quiet place to stay for the night during a business trip. All was as expected.
- Cheryl (6/5): - Exterior dirty. Cigarette burns in bedspread. Interior doors in bad shape. Pillows lumpy.
- Jessica (2/5): - Room was dirty/ bathroom tub dirty/ bed sheets with visible stains.
- Margaret Anne (8/5): - Went for concert at Crystal Grand Music Theatre and just needed for 1 night. The manager was pleasant upon checking. The room was clean &fresh & we were pleasantly surprised by the outdoor deck with chairs & small table. Didn’t have time to use pool area but it was very clean & neat & pool was very clean. We plan on using this motel next time we go to Baraboo.
- Mercy (8/5): - I was thrown way off! This place is a gem, especially if your in there area for attractions! Highly recommended!
- Brian (2/5): - At check-in, the charges were $30/day over the anticipated rate. No explanation. We booked well in advance. After check-in, we received NO services from the motel. No fresh towels, no bed make-up, no cleaning. Nothing. Worst lodging experience I've ever had.
- lori (8/5): - For an older hotel it was very clean and quiet. Our room has been updated, no carpet. This is a great update. Staff at check-in was very nice. Will stay here again.
- marci (6/5): - It was very quiet and piece full. Easy accessibility to room. Pool was a plus.
Wasnt the cleaniest place but prices were affordable.
- Heather (4/5): - The room was large which was good. On the downside it smelled heavily of cigarette or cigar smoke. We were also not informed that there was no housekeeping service so did not get more soap, toilet paper or towels until we asked for them. Front desk not manned so had to wait until manager came from somewhere on the property.
- Lynn (8/5): - ok, functional
- Victoria (2/5): - N/A
- Naomy (6/5): - Convenience and the property being dog friendly are the only pros.
Basically you get what you pay for.
- Debra (4/5): - The room had an odor, like it had been smoked in multiple times. The window was painted shut. The drain in the sink malfunctioned and it wouldn't open to allow drainage. The doors had splatter marks from food or beverages. The bedspreads and blankets didn't look freshly laundered.
- Moss (6/5): - this place was ok for the money
- laura (8/5): - I love the attached bar.
- John (8/5): - They need to have 12 cup coffee makers in each room instead of the single cup brewing machines
- Jeryn (8/5): - The bed was fairly comfortable and the A/C unit kept the room very well cooled! Decent stay for the price, but I wish the room was cleaner.
- Niya (2/5): - It was dirty ass hell
- Patricia (8/5): Not bad for the price - It wasn't the cleanest motel and it wasn't the dirtiest I've stayed at either. The outdoor pool was a plus. I would stay there again if I'm ever in the area.
- Sandy (4/5): - bathroom toilet/ outer tub dirty/ used towel to clean myself... residue noted was black... It is a shame. Location great. Wound not stay here again.
- Elizabeth (6/5): Good enough - The staff was attentive. The condition of the room was ok - some minor damages as it appears to be an older building. The bed was pretty hard, The air conditioning worked well and my husband loved the fact that there was an entry door from the outside also! We did not go in the pool at all but it looked decent. There are a lot of choices for eating right by the hotel and it’s close to the Dells.
- Carrie (8/5): Campus Inn Nightmare - The worker wasn’t there at 8pm, there were two workers who were not present so we couldn’t check in
- Michele (4/5): - There were small fruit flies that gathered by the sink daily. I saw a mouse scamper under the bed one morning. There are plenty of permanent residents at this motel. The owner was very nice and attentive but his property needs some help.
- Christine (8/5): Just okay - It was ok. Worth the money. You get what u pay for. The bar was closed. That was the reason we picked this hotel to play billards. Wouldnt stay there again.
- Lois (10/5): - Very nice place to stay. Thank you!
- JULEANN (6/5): - For some reason we thought this property included breakfast. No longer doing breakfast. Coffee and juice only. Our bathtub would not drain. Had to hold the lever down to get it to drain. Thin doors as we heard everyone outside.
- Maria (10/5): - for being a nigth there was ok clean and convinient
- phillip (2/5): - we were on the ground floor, but the room above us made so much noises we had a hard time going to sleep. it was after midnight before we got any sleep. we even called the front desk and complained about the noise, he said he would check into it but nothing changed. the noise was still the same. would not recommed this place to anyone.
- kevin (8/5): - good location,
- Kathryn (6/5): Meh - It's nothing fancy. . . we had 3 rooms reserved- each had some issue (broken TV, stained sheets, pet hair, etc.). Pretty spendy for what it is.
- Laura (4/5): - The room was dirty, food crumbs on the carpet, the bathroom floor had mud prints it was awful. I didn’t even take my shoes off when i was on the carpet.
- Savannah (2/5): didn't stay - white stains all over furniture and floor, several other colored stains, smokey mold odor, everything unplugged, dead bugs all over the bathroom
- Carrie (6/5): Not so great. - There was no obe at the front desk at any time of the day. They did not clean our room at all or replace our coffee in the room at any point and only provided 1 serving to begin with. The pillows are very flat. The room was not cleaned well. There was trash in the dresser drawers.
- vitginia (4/5): - Carpet and bathroom were very dirty. A lot of partiers, it didn't seem that they were customers of the bar but outside and inebriated.
- Sheila (6/5): - The room really stunk
- Trevor (10/5): - Quick and easy.
- Amy (8/5): - The front desk gentleman was very nice. The view was very nice.
- Tim (2/5): - Maybe my worst hotel experience. First room had dirty carpet, food scraps on the wall, toilet wouldn’t flush! Second room better, TV didn’t work, saw a roach. Curtains broken.
- Mary (6/5): - Thought it was expensive for room amenities- very little shampoo, no hair dryer, leftover food carton and one pouch of coffee.
Pool was great
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Comfortable bed but room was never cleaned nor towels changed, replenish coffee and cups did not happen. Night time staff was helpful and pleasant
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bathroom was dirty with hair all over the floor
- luz (2/5): Do not stay here - We ordered several rooms and called day before to confirm and we checked in they told they didn’t have a room we reserved. There were roaches by microwave. Towels, floor, toilet were dirty
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I stayed four nights and my room wasn't made up once. I had to ask for more towels, soap and shampoo. The room was dirty. On the plus side, the AC worked fine, and I could parked in front of my room. The price was relatively inexpensive, but you get what you paid for.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bathroom not clean , old carpet in the room , they should do some improvements, it’s outdated
- Verified traveler (6/5): - So dirty and bad smell
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Our one night at Campus Inn Motel was more comfortable and quieter than a "good" hotel in Las Vegas!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Okay please to sleep
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Our room smelled disgusting ( like dog pee). Couldn’t get the smell out no matter what we tried. Left the door open for hours. Window didn’t open at all. There were stains in the floor and on the chair in the room. There was hair in the shower, in the bed and a huge red stain on one of the sheets. The staff was extremely friendly but the room was pretty gross.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We arrived to incorrect reservations... then after entering our Room TV didn't work ..when to call the front desk phone didn't work ..picked up the phone to call front desk.. phone not even connected to the wall & wires ripped out, just there for staging.. Husband went to front desk to talk to them about it they said they couldn't fix it and there were no other rooms available and if we wanted to check out we could. Husband went to make a cup of coffee in the coffee maker, coffee went everywhere.. There was dirt on the sheets in multiple places pulled sheets up blood stains and urine stains on the on the mattress... i have been more disappointed in a hotel stay.
- Debra (8/5): - The room was nice. A little noise but not to bad
- Lori (4/5): Very dirty room - This could be a really great little motel..... if someone would even just attempt to clean the rooms.... very thankful for clean sheets/towels but the rest of the room was disgustingly dirty..... urine and vomit on the toilet, both sinks/counters dirty, food crumbs on the floor/on bedside table/in the dresser and dog/cat hair all over the floor.... and the deadbolt did not work.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice an peaceful
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice and quiet
- richard (10/5): - Great place to stay. Close to casino and attractions. Great price and good views from balcony's
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was a peaceful and quite stay, I would return every time I visit the DELLS,. And the nightly rates were very affordable. Looking for an affordable, peaceful, and pleasant motel.... CAMPUS INN is the place to be
- Verified traveler (2/5): - There are people hanging outside drunk attempting to sell us drugs and just pretty loud in general around the place
- Brian R. (10/5): Jacuzzi Suite was nice - The place was fine. I stayed in a Jacuzzi Suite that had everything you need. The room is dated, but very comfortable and the jacuzzi was big. The motel is close to many restaurants and has a bar that is attached to the motel. Well worth the price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is perfectly located 15 minutes from everyhing outdoors! Great room, great staff
- Christine (8/5): Nice place for the price - It was a nice place I was pleasantly surprised! The man at the front desk was very nice! No problems at all!
- Barbara G (10/5): Great place to stay cheaply. - It was a worry-free stay. Comfortable and a clean room. Not fancy but functional. Would stay there again.
- Raquel (8/5): - Overall the hotel was clean but very basic the staff is very nosey but the water was hot and the beds were actually comfy.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was a good location but there was no pool * it was 75 dgrs also no breakfast and it stated breakfast.
- Alexander (2/5): Really a DICK move. - Reserved a room a few days in advance and were racing in town and were running late so we couldnt go to hotel before the race so we called at 3 pm and asked if it was ok if we check in at 11 or 12 pm and tjey said that was just fine as there issomeone at thecheck in desk at all time, but when we got to the hotel at 11:30 pm they said they had no more rooms available, which i replied thats why i gave my credit card # for the reservation to reserve the room as to make sure that i have a room to sleep in and even called earlier to make sure there was no communication issues because it seems alot of people are really stupid these days and do really stupid things. They said you werent here by 6:00 pm so we rented your room to someone else. It is impossible to find a hotel room in Wisc Dells on labor day weekend. Majorly DICK move to do to someone after reserving with a credit card
- Alejandro (4/5): Not coming back - personally i wouldnt recommed this place unless it was your only or last option. No one was at the front desk for check ins and its currently under remodelation which means there was banging in the early morning. There is a bar in the first floor which means you will hear fights every now and then. Definately not a family enviorment place to say the least.
- Janet (2/5): Completely disgusting - The room was filthy. It was so bad, we couldn't stay there. Sheets had large yellow stains, carpet had stuff ground into it, tissue paper filled the door peep hole, and the bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in awhile. The pictures on the website are misleading. I wouldn't want any animal staying there, let alone a person.
- RocioD. (4/5): - I did not like like. We found so many flyes in the room. The front desk guy did not say Hi at least.
- Gary (6/5): - Quiet but nothing to write home about.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Smelly rooms, stains on the walls, the outside area was not well kept.
- andrew (2/5): Avoid at all costs - Stayed here because the online pictures looked decent, my group rented 3 rooms total. All of the rooms the pillows smelled like they hadn't been washed in months, none of the bedding had been washed in quite awhile as well. One of the rooms had a jacuzzi in it but it looked like someone shaved their pubic hair in it because there were a ton of little curly hairs in the bottom of it. All of the rooms smelled musty. Our bathroom had mold in every corner. Some of the other rooms had broken windows and messed up door jams. It looks nothing like the pictures and I can not stress enough how much I don't recommend this place.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was ok but the guy in the front desk has no customer service at all.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We had stayed here on several previous occasions & had good experiences. Our first night, we had 2 rooms "just past the dumpster". They smelled musty, stale smoke & cat pee. Sides of box springs had many brown stains, many cobwebs, dead flies all over the sills, mold on bathroom walls & carpet was filthy. Second night we were upstairs in much better rooms, cleaner & somewhat updated. Looks like renovations are in process, so hoping to see that next time.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Arrived at motel at 1pm. (Check-in wasn’t until 3pm officially.). Asked desk clerk if it was possible to check in early, as we had arrived sooner than anticipated. Had made a reservation. Desk clerk said room would not be ready until 3. Asked him to confirm reservation, which he did. Asked if I could pay now, to which he said to just come back in 2 hours, which I thought was strange. He was short with me, borderline rude, and not helpful. (Note that this is a 2 star motel in a small town.)
We ended up leaving and returned at a few minutes after 3pm. No one was in the lobby or at the desk. There was a note to use the desk phone and dial “0” for assistance. Waited 30min, and called multiple times with no answer and no one showed up. Looked around outside and on main floor, but saw not one employee. Decided to leave and come back in 30min.
Stopped back 2 times, last time being around 4:15pm. Never found a single employee, no one at the desk, called as directed with continued no answer. Even called main hotel number, no answer and unable to leave a message. Finally, gave up and left to find a different hotel.
Needless to say, I would NOT recommend this motel. Obviously, unprofessional. Place looked decent for what it is, but never saw a room. Why would the desk be left unattended all that time, and who knows how long between 1-3pm before I came back. Check in is at 3 yet no one is there to check you in?! Take off Expedia!
- LAW (4/5): - It was the only one available in Baraboo. I'm sure because it doesn't get any rave reviews. It is sufficient and has the basics and the bed was actually comfortable. It is basic, but everything works. There is construction, which is good i guess as it shows the property is being improved. No pool. Does have a bar, the Fat Squirrel. AC was slow to cool the room, but eventually did. The window sill was filled with dead flies, yuck. Again, not a first choice, but it does suffice
- Nancy (4/5): - I loved the location and it seemnto be really chill. The room however smelled bad, the fridge was not plugged in. Other then that was not bad for the price.
- Tracy (8/5): - Price was good. Older hotel but bed was comfy, fit the bill for our needs. Thanks
- mandy (4/5): You get what you pay for here - Check inn was normal owner was friendly. Bed was hard, room was not clean. Old stained carpet, dead flies on bathroom counter. We stayed 2 nights and did not get clean towels or beds made during the stay. You get what you pay for here. Must be a monthly hotel also because there were a lot of druggies and shady looking people staying across from us.
- Ellen (6/5): - No hand sanitizer.no masks. Comfy quiet old simple hotel. Private deck nice feature.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Horrible A/C, was in town for a wedding ended up missing the ceremony due to room issue w no AC, instead of giving us a new room off the bat we had to wait
For them to put a new unit in, not cool! Ended up getting a new room and was still late! I would not stay here again!
- william (10/5): - They was upgradeing.
Working on pool and other things..
But was great stsy..manager was .very quick to redpond to every thing i ask for good polite ..fat squirrel lounge ajoined to hotel was nice little place to eat and couple beers with great people there aswell
- Verified traveler (2/5): - It was big, big mistake booking this motel. Dirty and smell really bed. We decided to go to the next hotel, more money but clean and cmfrtable
- Verified traveler (6/5): - It was ok. Water cold in pool but was fine once u got use to it.
- George (2/5): Hotel is NASTY and dirty! - Hotel was garbage.. Pool was disgusting. They took a 175 dollar deposit and kept it for "smoking" in the room.. Neither of us even smoke.. Tried to dispute but got nowhere..
- golf46 (8/5): - Very friendly staff. Rooms are dated and smell like smoke.
Love the location and grounds. Workers should wear some kind of uniforms or badges. You can not tell how works there.
- llewellyn (6/5): HONEST PEOPLE - I forgot my cpap in the room and I wasn't far down the road when the motel phoned and let me know. I was relieved and was thankful, very thankful for their honesty and quick response to my mistake
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The fat sguirel was definitely unique in it's Own way
- Verified traveler (10/5): - whaterpool was good, food in breakfast was not changed every day aple and sereal
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was ok, bed was very comfortable, room was clean, bathroom vanity was updated, but there was no light and an old rusted nonfunctional vent in the tub/shower/ commode area and the parking lot was just dangerous. I would’ve been happy paying $60/night for this type of room, but $120 was grossly over priced. The gal at check in was very nice.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Was as expected from looking at the pictures. Older facility with only a fridge in the room. The room was clean and the sheets seemed fresh. However, the room had a damp smell to it. The WiFi worked well. The problem is the price tag. I paid $120 for 1 night. It should be about $75, at most. I did have a $10 extra fee because of my dog. But still, this is not a $110 dollar a night hotel.
- Vlad (2/5): - Hot water wasn't working. Entrance door had no extra lock and missing door viewer, just hole instead
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Great price for the location but the room was droqing in the scent of cigarette smoke, the bathroom smelled of pee, the bedspread had holes in it, and the morning of our check out day our room wouldn't lock anymore. We ended up checking out way earlier because we didn't feel safe leaving our dogs and items in an unlocked room.
It is pet friendly which is great, but even the dogs had difficulty breathing because of the cigarette smell.
The staff was very friendly.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The room was ok. One outlet didn't work, but otherwise fine. Only one flat pillow per person and beds bit hard but sleepable. Chose this however for fact that said hot breakfast and pool. Stayed on Memorial Day and pool was empty.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This property was just fine for the price. No bugs, no frills. Nothing gross, nothing fancy. Was very pleased -- given the very low rate.
- Anon. (4/5): - Price was great and the room was beautiful. For the price id definitely visit again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a very nice place . Nice and clean and comfortable
- Michelle (8/5): Nice location - Nice location, safe and comfortable bed. They must have been renovating the second floor because the edges around the room had white paint or plaster that wasn’t cleaned.
- Anissa (2/5): - Filthy, dirty, disgusting! The only thing it didn’t have was bed bugs! Stained mattresses, hair on the sheets, dirt on the pillows, muddy footprints on the bathroom floor, hair all over the bathroom floor, mold on the shower curtain, toilet seat was too small for the toilet, dust on all furniture, sticks on the carpet, bedspread snagged and torn up like a cat ripped it to shreds, lock on our door was broken, switched rooms twice, construction in the hallways with drywall dust & debris everywhere, swimming pool was empty used as a storage junkyard, the managers lived there, trash piles all over the property, never seen anything like it! Absolutely horrible! Shameful that this could even be called a business and how does it stay open for operation? Expedia needs to break all ties with this place...it’s embarrassing. We felt stuck becuz we paid on line ahead of time and didn’t know how to get our money back. It was late at night and we were so tired after a long day of hiking. No showers for us til we get home! Yikes! :(
- Daniel (2/5): Don't do it. - The best thing about this hotel is that we didn't have to stay any longer. The shower curtain was dirty, there were footprints on the bathroom floor, everything was grimy. Someone had written in the steam on the bathroom mirror and it wasn't us... Who knows when the place was cleaned last. The breakfast consisted of grocery store bagels, stale-hard bread and cereal. Seriously, you'll sit out on your "courtyard-" (ie parking lot-) view porch, looking at the signs of at least three other hotels you could have chosen, and wish you had.
