Guest Reviews
- Mike (9/5): Overall it was very peaceful, and the complementary firewood was a nice touch. - Loved that the manager/owner Heather was quick, and easy to deal with a couple requests. Didn’t like the ant problem, mostly throughout the the bathroom.
- P. M. (8/5): Mini vacation on an island new to us - Lovely grounds, quiet location
Near to parks and seaside All good
- Greg (10/5): -
- Jasbir (10/5): -
- Collis (6/5): -
- Nathalie (9/5): Lovely cabins to recharge on Galiano! - Nice location, good value, allowed my dog, the real fireplace was a treat. We rented the deluxe suite so had plenty of room too! Couch was old/soft and the rooms are bit dated but very minor as the overall it was clean and cozy!
- Catherine (9/5): -
- Maureen (9/5): Love theses cottages and staff. definitely will stay again - Very clean, homey, warm!, good cable, comfy bed, clean bathroom. I forgot my computer and staff delivered to my work! na
- Malcolm (5/5): charming old rustic cottage good location in a small village of old cabins.... - location good some ocean glimps [prob none in smmer leaves] Heather [host] most helpful Maintainance !! heat pump not working needed batteries wood stove full of ash.....hot water kettle not turning off fully [fire risk] poor wifi......bathroom sink not draining well
- Lyn (10/5): Such a great place for a get away - to relax, have fun and enjoy nature. - This is the second time I have stayed here and again I enjoyed the quiet, charming atmosphere. The cottage was warm and cosy when we arrived and staff couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful. The location is excellent with hiking paths close by and shops only five minutes away. The bathroom, while clean and well organized is showing it's age. However this didn't affect our enjoyment of the cottage.
- Victoria (8/5): -
- Marla (10/5): - Lovely cabin, close to many trails and so quiet.
- Shane (10/5): - I was travelling solo in the Southern Gulf Islands and stayed 2 nights at Driftwood Village. My room had everything I needed. I was travelling by foot, so the distance to shops and the ferry was perfectly manageable. Tue room is cozy and the bed is very comfortable. It rained while I was tied, so I was not able to enjoy relaxing on my cute patio or in the beautiful garden areas.
For nature lovers,
- Andrea (9/5): Comfortable, well-kept cottages to enjoy a pleasant time in Galiano! - Comfortable, clean, and good price.
- Freddy (10/5): - Driftwood Village was a pleasant surprise at Mary Ann Point on Galiano Island. We stayed in the Deer Cottage which is just perfect for two people. The cottage was much larger than I expected with a kitchenette and a full-sized bathroom - - which was in excellent condition and extremely tidy. We had our own private parking spot as well as a patio deck with table and chairs. It was the perfect shady nook for a summer day. It’s always better to have a car, but you can reach the property easily on foot. Probably 40-minutes on foot. Beach Site 14 on Galiano offers a stunning view of Active Pass with large ferry boats passing through it - - as well as the possibility of a pod of orcas. We stayed 4 days, but I think we could have enjoyed the cottage for several weeks. They have larger cottages which I also hope to investigate next summer. Heather made our arrival and departure easy. If you are looking for quiet privacy, a cozy cottage, in lovely surroundings, I encourage you to consider Driftwood Village.
- Paul (3/5): $348 a night is a complete joke - Not much 1970s Un clean bathroom was dreadful mold around the spa bath jets and the waste a big sink had been taken out and a small one put in the hole was badly filled and was dirty.
Several floor tiles were broken and they hold germs. But the resident spider didn’t seem too mind.
- Heather (8/5): - Nice property. Friendly staff, quiet and close to everything, nice hikes nearby. Comfortable bed but cabin was extremely hot and stuffy due to only one window and a small fan. Otherwise a very good stay!
- Barb Bonsdorf (7/5): -
- Adams (7/5): The price is not matching the product. - Park like Lacking window screens
Lacking counter space
- Lori (8/5): Very good -
- Michelle (8/5): - Very sweet little cabins. Lovely property. Not too far to get to a beach. For staying in the summer, though, I do wish there were screens on the windows. Other than that, it was a great stay!
- shauna (10/5): - Great location and lovely accommodations.
- Delaney (8/5): Very good -
- Stasiuk (7/5): A very peacefu, quiet and secluded property - Quiet. Secluded Poor kitchen items. Biggest problem: horrible knives. Old. Dull. Could barely cut anything.
- Kimberly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carolinda (10/5): - cleanliness and excellent location,
- Alison (9/5): Good stay in a beautiful, quiet setting. Already planning my return. - Beautiful setting, surrounded by rainforest. Weather was decent for March on the PNW. Ferry horns would pull me to the main window during the daytime and in the evenings to get a glimpse of ferries passing by. If I wanted an unimpeded view, there were several lookouts within easy walk, and one within a stiff but rewarding climb that overlooked the Active Pass exit, the islands, and down the channel towards Swartz Bay, Vancouver Island. Very quiet, except for birdsong, ferries, and the odd float plane. Cabin had the amenities I needed, well-stocked kitchen, comfortable bed, couch, writing table. Was warm enough, even in March, once I mastered the heating system. Great writing spot for my needs. Friendly islanders rescued me from walking martyrdom on my trek from Sturdies Bay up to Driftwood, and staff went above and beyond when the cold I thought I'd shaken off came back. Not much to do with the property. I had overestimated my ability to get around on foot, and next time am planning on bringing at least an ebike with me (and somewhat less luggage), as options for groceries nearby are limited and I was out of season for local rentals.
- Roumiana (10/5): Everything was perfect during my stay! -
- Tara (10/5): - Just what I needed!
- Rachert (8/5): Very good -
- Jenny (10/5): Our Amazing New Year Family get away - Excellent location, amazing view from our cottage, very good customer service (I was in contact with the host all the time) super clean! We loved small details in the property. Art in the garden, family friendly field with space for family activities, facilities in the cottage which make our stay feel like home!
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Barbara (9/5): Superb - Quiet and close to some good walking trails.
- Rebecca (8/5): - Atmosphere. Love the cozy cabin feel with the fire place. Good selection of wood as well. What I didn’t like was I found dirty Kleenex under the bed. Also there is carpet in the cabin which I felt was dirty.
- Ann (10/5): Exceptional - The location is perfect for all the centralized activities of Sturdies Bay.. close to Ferry dock, grocery stores and of course the Hummingbird Pub!
The cottage had everything that you could ask for in kitchen equipment, bathroom amenities, coffee and even ice cubes ready to use!
The tv was on the right system for us to see the Baseball pennant race!
We were here to kayak and the location was fine for us to get to the water access points!
All was amazing!
- Debra (8/5): - Cold and damp upon arrival.
- Yuhsin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Betty (6/5): - Beautiful property with cottages in desperate need of renovation. It looks like nothing has been updated since the 80’s. Screens on the windows and sliding door would be a big improvement. Communication via text was excellent and the extra coffee packets were very much appreciated. Advice to bring bottled water was right on!
- Leisha (6/5): Water let it down kind of sticky which let stay down - Rustic charm, Location, badminton & blackberry foraging close by Uncomfortable bed, water was not good for drinking or washing
- Michelle (8/5): Cozy and simple cottage in a quiet neighbourhood. Close to the ferry. - Staff were fantastic and the grounds were amazing. N/A
- Yat Fai (10/5): - We arrived early at 10:30am and contacted Heather. She had the room ready for us in half an hour, so no need to wait till 3 pm to check in. The property was quiet. Sitting on the balcony and listened to music in the morning was my favorite. We had the cabin with 2 rooms. Living room and the 2 rooms were decent size. The kitchen has everything you need to make breakfast and small meals. WiFi is solid. Only negative is hot water kind of runs at night, but I believe that's common on the island.
- Jingyuan (10/5): - Great size of room. Thanks for room upgrade, will return in the future .
- Parleen (8/5): Overall, the stay was pretty good except for the mosquitoes and slow wifi. - The cottages had a very home like feeling. The wifi either was very slow or did not work.
The bath towels were not properly washed and found some hair in it.
- Roberta (8/5): - This is an older property in a nice area with pretty grounds. Our unit had a tiny kitchen which was a little hard to maneuver in, but it was workable. Communication was good as far as instructions to do self check-in.
- Sharon (10/5): - Very friendly and accommodating staff. Suite was clean and equipped with all that we needed for 2 people. Quiet well maintained grounds
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Trudy (9/5): Superb -
- David (6/5): Clean, comfortable, - There were no meals. It was quiet, except for the traffic going by very close to us. We never met a single staff member to ask about where to eat, buy gas, swim etc.
It is not a resort. its a collection of cottages with no outside entertainment.
Little things like the shampoo not being replaced .
- Shelley (8/5): - Very nice little cottage, clean and comfortable. I would suggest trying to add another comfortable chair in the living room area as the couch is very small for 2 adults - and we are below average size
- Isaiah (10/5): Perfect little get away - So peaceful, very well kept and easy to come & go 🌈 Liked everything 🙏
- Victoria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elina (10/5): Perfect place for a family trip on Galiano island. - Spotless cottage with comfy beds, fully equipped kitchen, hot shower, fireplace, high-speed wifi, and beautiful area. It was a perfect place for a great family short vacation.
- Mcintyre (10/5): superb - Nice and clean cabin on a very beautiful property. We had a great stay. It was very charming and romantic. Just a short walk to amazing little hikes and breathtaking views!
- Joely (10/5): DVR Stay - I loved the amenities, very cute little cooking area. And the badminton outside was a surprise but added so much unexpected fun! Honestly nothing to dislike.
- Karen (10/5): Peaceful stay with family lots of space . - Peaceful
- Jahan (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great place to escape to - Quiet and comfortable cabin. Bring some bottled water though, as the tap water has a strange taste
- Marlene (10/5): - Been here before and am always looking forward to it. Great price for a great area.
- Klassen (8/5): Very good -
- Myra (9/5): A great getaway for some island hiking. - The host sent us very helpful information about arriving. We walked from the ferry, and it was dark already, so this was quite useful. It was easy to check in. We loved the location because there were trails close by, and we had a wonderful day of hiking with fantastic island views! There were some puzzles and games available to fill the quiet evening, and the stars were a real treat. The small kitchen had everything we needed for our light meals, the bed was comfortable, and the location was very quiet. Since it was the off season, there were fewer food options available in the area than what we anticipated from our online search. This was really our fault for not checking more carefully. However, there was a well-stocked store near the ferry dock with some very interesting items.
- Robo362 (8/5): We had a great stay. The space was great for the 2 of us on a very cold and wet Gulf Island getaway. - Being surrounded by nature and carefully curated artwork in the gardens surrounding our cabin was a lovely experience. When we had questions our host was quick to reply with helpful information. Driftwood Village was a great home base from which we could explore the rest of the Island. We assumed there would be more electrical outlets to recharge our numerous devices. We assumed there'd be an oven in the kitchenette. No big deal. We were able to charge our devices and heat up food.
- Stacey (8/5): Very good - quiet location. If the person who is the contact for checking in could use something other that texting to commuicate, it would be better for people from outside of Canada. Any free messaging system would be good (whatsup, signal,...)
- Bonnie (8/5): Very good -
- Faria (8/5): - Cozy nook.
- Tanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Don (6/5): Nice cabin and location. - We did like the location. And the areas in the garden for sitting and sipping were very nice. Our cabin was very dark (Could use a better light in the ceiling), no coffee pot and one burner not working. Some trimming is needed so we can get out of the car in the parking space without fighting the vegetation.
- Amel (5/5): Next time please unblock the sink of the bathroom . Everything was Ok. - Close to everything Heather was amazing
- Jake (9/5): Overall very happy with the accommodation, surroundings, location - provided our own breakfast
Everything good, liked the table and chairs outside and the surroundings, better tasting water, micro wave in an awkward place. TV hard to work, trouble finding the channels/programs I wanted. Problem with the shower
- Cairns5 (6/5): Loved the cabin in the woods, but it is :just a cabin". Bring your food or buy it locally. - This is a "do it yourself" cabin. We brought food with us. Coffee on site. Service for two. Double bed, Open room with small table, two chairs, couch and extra chair. The owner was concerned that the cooling/heating system did not work, so was generous and gave us discount. However, we hope it is fixed. Very clean. Lots of windows, deer on the lawn grazing. Yes, we'd return. if plumbing fixed. Easy access to the sea and roads to the hiking trails. The plumbing needs to be replaced, particularly the toilet. Clean but just old.
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Carol (9/5): We had a lovely, peaceful two night stay and wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. - We were contacted to let us know our cabin was ready for us a couple of hours before the indicated check in time which was wonderful as we arrived by ferry with those couple of hours to “kill” and appreciated being able to go right to our accommodations. The cabin was clean and totally adequate for our needs. The setting with surrounding forest area was beautiful and peaceful. It turned out that it was only a few minutes drive from the site of the wedding reception we were attending which was an added bonus. Although we never actually met our hostess she was always available by text to answer questions and see to needs. The only inconvenience was that I couldn’t get the toaster to work for breakfast.
- Lisa (10/5): - Very clean
- Vesna (10/5): Exceptional - The location is good and the property is well maintained. A very pleasant place to stay.
- Tony (7/5): Good -
- Naiqing (7/5): Good -
- Dana (7/5): Good - The seclusion The tap water taste
- Sarah (10/5): - Sweet cottage, nice gardens. It's not right on the water but is a pretty close walk. Just over 30 minute walk to the ferry. Everything was clean and neat and in good condition.
- Jodi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthewson (9/5): Superb -
- Carolyn (9/5): Superb -
- Damir (10/5): Great little cottage - Quaint little cottage. Very cosy and very clean. We will definitely come back. Not having a dish washer, but it wasn't a big deal.
- Jenzypenzy (7/5): Good -
- Pascal (9/5): Superb -
- Tong (10/5): it was a perfect trip, nice village and the manager let us early check in. - Quite and cozy village nearby many hiking trails. There is an apple tree and the apple is tasty...lol
- Sabrina (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linda (10/5): Exceptional - My stay was exceptional and I appreciate that Heather upgraded me to a nicer "queen suite". The property is immaculate thanks to Fred who maintains a pristine property ... and Carina who welcomed me and shared lots of great tips and sights to see around the island. I will be back for sure! Thank you for a lovely 3-night stay! The "queen" suite is advertised as having a "sea view" ... but it doesn't have a sea view ... it has a "top of the ferry boat" view when the ferries travel by ... but the suite itself doesn't have a sea view. This, however, isn't a problem as there is a very cute seating area on the property that has a lovely sea view!
- Nicholas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ryan (10/5): - I loved how many shore access points there were on the island. Everything was very dog friendly, Little to no traffic. Cool culture and history with beautiful views beautiful different beaches to chill at from pebbles, sandstone and fine sand. Absolute gem of an island
- Sonia (7/5): convenient location - it’s a bit old but got upgraded. reasonable old
- Martyn (8/5): Everything we expected. - Lovely location. Quiet and welcoming.
- Dan (9/5): Superb -
- Ornella (9/5): loved it and would definitely stay in cabin 3 again - centrally located private cabin not a huge problem, but needs some bigger pots & pans
- Norm (8/5): We enjoyed our stay and were comfortable. Communication with Heather was excellent. - No breakfast offered. Location is great. The property offers an information kiosk, outdoor seating, trees and a large grassy area. The studio is cozy and comfortable. Television set a little small. No grab bar for bath/shower. Patio table was not reasonably clean. Studio #11 adjoins one or two others but, for our stay, noise was at an absolute minimum and brief.
- YAO (10/5): Comfortable and sweet! - 2 mins away from the terminal. The host got the house ready for us way earlier and allowed us to move in right after the ferry arrived the island. Check in was quick and easy. The office is very cute and very convenient. The separated houses were little but very comfortable. We loved our staying in the property. Our kids enjoyed the badminton and volleyball games. The little ponds and gardens are very beautiful. We will definitely recommend this property.
- Celina (10/5): - Really lovely, quiet setting, next to trails, close to the ferry and genral store, kind and accomodating owners.
- Chiao Chun (10/5): - I stayed at the garden suite, their biggest cottage on site and was very happy with my stay. The cottage is super spacious and I love the sky light they have in the living room area. Also the kitchen is well equipped for cooking your own meals. Furniture is not new but the entire suite is super clean. I feel like living a home away from home. There are apple trees on site and the staff even showed us where to pick nice apples! Staff can also be reached easily by phone or txt. Check-in and check-out were smooth, just followed the email and note provided in cabin. Location is perfect for walking to Bellhouse park, easy hike to The Bluffs to overlook Active Pass. Also, many deers in the neighborhood. Just a note to bring your own coffee/tea, shower gel/shampoo. They do provide some but if you’re staying for multiple nights, may not be enough. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and would love to come back again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Well maintained property. Very pet friendly. Cabins are nicely spaced for privacy. Fruit trees on the property were a delightful surprise.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a lovely property in a great location. Cabins are very clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again. Great for groups or families.
