• Ian (8/5): Good location, characterful property but basic services. - Great location within the historic city, right next to the city walls. A short walk to the busier parts, but nice and quiet. It's a historic house, with real character. It's convenient to be dropped off by car, right next to the accommodation (which is not true for a good part of the walled historic city. I loved the walled historic city of Galle, a really interesting and fun place to walk around, with bags of character and interesting corners. Services are basic. There was no fridge in the room, which was the smallest we stayed in on our visit to Sir Lanka. I wouldn't call it a hotel as such, more like rooms in a historic building.

In walking distance of the fort walls, to watch the sunset, restaurants, cafes and shops. Staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. They arranged a tuk tuk tour at a very good price. Bed extra comfy and room was big. Toiletries could be a little better.

• Kate (10/5): Beautiful location to stay - We loved our stay at Fort Bliss, it's in a really great location for sightseeing and restaurants. Our host was very friendly and knowledgeable and the daily breakfast was amazing, so much food that we were full until dinner time. The room itself was spacious and air conditioned which meant we slept well. There was nothing we didn't like about Fort Bliss.

The hotel is a bit dated and the room was a bit dark, though as it’s an old building I suppose little can be done about that.

There was a problem with the water in the morning (no water at all) but during breakfast they were able to fix it. Good job, try this on a Sunday morning in Europe. No chance at all 😅 Breakfast was very good, consisting of a lot of fresh fruit and toast and eggs at your choice, marmalade, butter, cheese, nothing missing. Thank you!

Meget rent, og hvis man ønsker det, kan man få værelset ordnet og håndklæderne skiftet hver dag, hvilket ikke er en selvfølge på Sri Lanka. Overdådig morgenmad. Beliggenheden kunne ikke være bedre. Der er ikke rigtig nogen opholdsområder ud over en enkelt bænk på 1. sal. Stuen, hvor morgenmaden serveres, har man ikke lyst til at bruge, da den tjener som opholdssted for personalet. Men det gjorde ikke så meget, da der er mange hyggelige restauranter og barer i Galle.

Only small so you get a very personal feel and the staff were friendly and very accommodating. Surrounded by greenery on a lovely little side road. The breakfast was exceptional 💚 There are no fridges in the rooms but not a problem because the staff will keep everything cold for you in the hotel fridge.

• Laura (10/5): Sehr nettes kleines Hotel in perfekter Lage, zentral, aber ruhig - Das Hotel liegt in einer der zentralen Straßen von Galle Fort, die Zimmer liegen „nach hinten“, Richtung Meer. Alles, was man dort hört, ist das Meer, 24/7. Unser Zimmer war groß und hatte - anders als andere Orte in Sri Lanka - genügend Möglichkeiten, elektronische Geräte zu laden. Der Service war sehr gut. Der Gastgeber sah zwar erst mal fast so aus, wie mein alter Geschichtslehrer, aber er ist ein sehr freundlicher Mensch, wenn man sich mit ihm unterhält. ;-) Das Frühstück war reichlich und gut (im Omelett vielleicht ein bisschen viel Knoblauch für meinen Geschmack).

• Nuria (8/5): Buena localización, mucho encanto y buen desayuno - El alojamiento está en muy buena ubicación para visitar el centro turístico de Galle, el dueño es muy amable y la cama era cómoda aunque el tamaño de la habitación era un poco pequeño para dos personas pero para una o dos noches está bien. El desayuno fue increíble, todo riquísimo y muy atentos. Además nos lo sirvieron en un pequeño patio que tiene mucho encanto, toda la propiedad tiene un estilo muy bonito. El baño es un poco incómodo y hace calor porque la ventana no tiene cristal es como una rejilla abierta. El alojamiento está genial en general pero el precio me pareció alto especialmente para ser temporada baja.

We also had a room facing the sea which was amazing. Additionally the hosts are nice and gave us an excellent breakfast. Considering the price, the room lacked several amenities like Kettle, Tea and coffee sachets and TV.

Each morning he prepared amazing delicious breakfast delicacies rooms are “old world” clean roomy and comfortable with a view of the Fort wall. Walking distance to restaurants, galleries, souvenir & jewelry shops. A 30 minute trip takes you to nearby beaches stilt fisherman and the Turtle Rehabilitation Centre.

We were on the ground floor near the entrance so was a bit noisy in the mornings. Tasty breakfast of fruit, omelette, toast and yoghurt. Excellent location near the fort walls with easy walking distance of shops and restaurants. Slightly noisy. Could maybe offer more choice at breakfast.

Apparently we had booked a twin room at a lower rate but were given the double room, which was fine but would have appreciated being told.

It is a tiny place, only four rooms in a lovely period house with a small garden and a view to the ramparts and the sea. Our room was huge with a big bed and a good bathroom. We were very well looked after by Sunil and Ibram. We have never before had such huge plates of gorgeous tropical fruits at breakfast, which was all delicious. It is a wonderful little oasis in the Fort just near Flagstaff Rock. A little fridge in the room would have been nice. We found that the lighting by the bed was not sufficient to read.

• Sophie (10/5): Exceptional - I wish I could stay here longer! Not only is the accomodation clean, beautiful and in the best location, the staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly. I’d highly recommend booking far in advance so you get the best room upstairs overlooking the ocean! The staff are very attentive and warm and made me feel at home (even when I was feeling quite homesick!) You’re also in the perfect location and walking distance to Galle Lighthouse and the main road with all sorts of cafes and trinket shops! As a female solo traveller this is the perfect stay and I’ve felt very safe the whole time

• Jayesh (9/5): An excellent location and place, totally value for money within Galle Fort. - - Excellent location within the Galle fort and close to the walls and ramparts - Short walking distance from all that Galle has to offer - Very courteous and cooperative staff - Very helpful with arranging services. They arranged a taxi for me to go to Negombo. - The rooms are smaller than what one would imagine. Ideal for solo, just enough for two and will be crammed if you as for extra bed. (Though I stayed solo, I imagined the rooms to be bit larger considering the price and name ‘Fort’ Bliss!)

Position of accommodation was great...20 metres to outer wall and lighthouse. Quiet!!! Lovely welcome and thanks for letting us leave bags for a while on checkout day. Nothing!

• Lisena Gjebrea (10/5): Wonderful stay - Fort Bliss was a wonderful establishment: centrally located, clean, comfortable and very well furnished. Breakfast was among the best I’ve had in SL. And Sunnil was just lovely.
• Hedi (9/5): Lovely! - It's unbelievable that this hotel only has 3 stars! We've stayed in several 4-star hotels on this vacation that didn't offer the same level of service. The hosts are incredibly friendly and always ready to help. The rooms are clean and very spacious. The bed is heavenly, and I especially love the many thick pillows! The bathroom is also spacious and clean, with various products and even a hairdryer. Aside from the sea view and the wonderful hosts, the best part of this hotel is definitely the breakfast. You get a huge selection of fruit, a smoothie, tea and/or coffee, an egg cooked to your liking with various vegetables and herbs, yogurt, and toast with butter and marmalade. The only small downside is that they are very strict about electricity usage, which I understand, but there's no need to remind us every time we come downstairs. Otherwise, it’s absolutely sublime!

Our room was a tad small - but suspect that we wouldn’t even have noticed this if we hadn’t hit the tail end of the monsoon season and so spent some hour reading in our room! The lobby/sitting room was very comfy and we could have read there

Staff arranged jewellery warehouse trip for free, lovely large breakfast, awesome fruits like big lichee and mango steen. Any time coffee/juice served. Staff Imran and Sunil go beyond the call of duty to make you feel comfortable. Appam, idiappam and dal along with English breakfast. Has Indian type, European and US type switch boards making life easy. Early checkin or late checkout - common rest room available as a stop gap. Can safely drop luggage. There is a safe in every room, great facility that was not common to any other place in Srilanka. Room heater fitted in the room, any time hot water. Sheets were a bit yellow stained, manageable No coffee / tea kettle Towels smelling moth balls - agree with other reviews I booked room in negligence- it was on ground floor with no views, right next to kitchen area
